- Celia Palli Gives Us A Breath Of Fresh Air With New Album "Technicolours"
I used to work at a coffee shop in Toronto where one of Nelly Furtado’s dancers would come in to eat (as did metal bands like Sunn O) – but that’s another story). She even sent a very sweet postcard to the Italian owner one time. It makes me wonder if that kind soul ever interacted with this artist, Celia Palli, who was Furtado’s background singer around the same time. With the precise nature of this release you can’t help but wonder about the spin-off benefits of the bird-like Furtado machine. For Palli, those start with a serious shout-out. Celia Palli is blessed with serious songwriting skills and a unique and limber voice that carries the message,” Furtado says in release notes. “Whether in English or Spanish, Celia delivers poignant, effortless storytelling in her songs.” Palli’s first album dropped in October 2014 over in Spain, rocketing out of the gate with a strong 142,000 views for her “I’ll Be Fine” music video. She’s now joined up with producer duo Like Mind to record her second album “Technicolours” in Brooklyn, New York. “Complicity” – Don’t think of this in the SNL Ivanka Trump fragrance parody. This sounds much more innocent and much less devious. Essentially we’re talking about music that is pop to the bone. “It’s criminal, but that is all we know” could be ripped from a cheesy rap song, if the context were different. However, in this case, the chorus is jumpy and precise. It’s like a raspberry cream cheese on toast in the morning. “Paralyzed” – This is the kind of song that sounds so familiar somehow, even though you know you’ve never heard it before. This is definitely pseudo-dancefloor, radio-on-the-way-to-a-corporate-office-gig music. You can’t help but love the unique portamento between notes on the catchy chorus. It will be stuck inside your head before the song is over, I promise. “My Room” – This touches on the Top 40-bar soundscape popularized by the Weeknd and Ariana Grande. I can imagine tweens playing this on their phone while decorating the walls by their bed with posters of celebrity crushes. “Glitter” – Her voice is so touching and poignant in a muted fashion that I could almost confuse it with a gentle synthesizer hitting a slow-burn arpeggio function. It’s an intoxicating cloud of perfume, doling out tenderness and affection with every exhale. “Heart is Getting Cold” – It’s a song like “Heart is Getting Cold” that makes Palli so convincing. Not only do we have a hit-creation machine here. But we’re getting intelligence in songwriting, as well. While this particular track is less of an obvious standout, it’s the little things, like the chord progressions during the chorus, that reminds you you’re served up that little extra every time. It’s like how you ordered the chocolate brownie explosion at the steakhouse, and they served it with quality ice cream and coco dust. “She Her Elle” – As someone who grew up listening to Quebecoise music with a passion, I have to say there’s something here that reminds me of the temperate delivery of unpretentious singer-songwriters from La Belle Province. So it’s no surprise to me that she’s performed at the C2MTL conference in Montreal and has been picked up by CBC Radio and CBC Radio 2. She has vocal command like Celine Dion, but it’s delivered in a presentation that still sounds relevant to Los Angeles pop airwaves. There was another point in my service industry career where I was bussing tables around the “Maneater” Furtado era. As I was clearing plates and refilling waters, I overheard two Canadian music industry executives carefully strategizing about the future of Furtado’s career. Who knew that the result could be trickle down economics providing a useful leg up to a promising artist like Palli? She’s now seeking to care out her own space within the industry. Capitalism doesn’t come through for everyone, but it seems to be working to the advantage of Palli, someone who seems to truly appreciate the gifts she’s been given. Or as Furtado puts it, “Her zest for life completely rings through the music.” Bravo. Give a listen to Celia Palli's new album "Technicolours" on Spotify, and don't miss out on this artist's exclusive interview below! Where would you say you first started forming your musical identity and how did it happen? If I go way back I would say my childhood. My grandfather and my uncle are musicians. I heard my grandpa practice everyday and I spent many summers watching my uncle perform. As a kid, my family always sang as a choir in the car, and whenever I was alone, I would pretend to be a singer on a stage. At the age of 8, I entered a singing competition and I won. It wasn’t a Christina Aguilera performance but it gave me the confidence to start believing in myself. Shortly after that I started learning guitar and "writing" silly songs. What was it like backing Nelly Furtado? What did you learn from the experience? Man oh man, that was like getting a Master’s Degree in professional singing. I got to be part of TV performances, Award shows, live radio shows, arena concerts, etc. Each performance has its own set of challenges and I learned how to deal with them first hand. I now get called to do live TV, and I’m not startled by anything. I’m a better singer and performer today because of my time with Nelly, that’s for sure. What role did you have in the songwriting process for this album? I spent the last three years analyzing my old songs, pushing myself to explore my own skills and then figuring out what I want to say today. I few months before I went into the studio to record the album, sequence of events happened in my life that triggered all the songs. I would say I had a very active role in the songwriting process, although this time around, contrasting my first album, I did collaborate with artist I admire (Mariya Stokes, Nashlyn, Lindsay Foote). If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's that music is better when it's created with others. Are there any influence you feel have had a larger impact on your development as an artist that others? When I was younger, I would listen I sang along to the Beatles and also Paul McCartney and Wings. Their compositions definitely left a mark. And in recent years, Kimbra and Emily King have had a huge impact on how I approached songwriting and how I portray myself as an artist. Now that it's complete, and you look at what's emerged as the Technicolours album as a whole, what do you think has emerged? A new Celia has emerged for sure. This record forced me to ask myself some deep questions and so it forced me to grow as an artist. I would say that Technicolours is the result of my artistic soul search. :) Stay connected with Celia through on social media: Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- Chiara King Spices Things Up In "Dancing With Me"
Born and raised in London, Chiara King is a British pop singer/songwriter that has been singing since she was young and released her first single at the age of 19. Her biggest inspiration is Latin and Urban Pop artists. Recently, Chiara has been blowing up on social media and even opened a show for Jason Derulo. Her song titled, “Dancing With Me” also has a music video that just released on Youtube. It is an upbeat dance song that incorporates a Spanish feature and has stunning visuals. The song is very rhythmic based yet has a pop sound to it as well. The track is very catchy and will be an earworm and get you dancing while you’re at it. The music video is fun and visually appealing with the use of colors and effects. With both the visuals and Chiara’s fun unique vocals, King is the full package for her listeners. We see a playful and bright side of Chiara that will leave you in anticipation for her next single to drop. Similar to the upbeat and latin based music of Camila Cabello, Chiara is sure to hit the charts with her charismatic nature and appeal. Take a minute to check out Chiara King's recent song "Dancing With Me" on Spotify, and take a second minute to check out the artist's exclusive interview blow (she'll let you in on working with Derulo and the creation process of "Dancing With Me"! Hi Chiara, can you tell our readers a little about yourself and how you choose music as your career? Since I can remember I have always loved performing dancing, singing and acting, from nursery through school doing musicals and singing in the chapel choir. Having taken a year out before university I questioned what I really wanted in my life and last year I realized that I don’t just want to follow the typical path of university and getting a job in the city. My passion has always been singing and I decided that this is it. I love making good music with a strong beat and I want to make people feel happy and MOVE! What was it like opening up for Jason Derulo? What a cool experience! It was pretty surreal! Especially it being my first performance debuting my single, I was so scared! Shortly after I released my song on Spotify, my manager got an email from the production team asking if I wanted to perform live in about 10 days. They didn’t mention who else was performing. I am always up for a challenge so I said” why not”. Very last minute I found back up dancers and we put a choreographed dance together. I was originally scheduled to perform as the first act, but after the production team saw our rehearsal, I was moved forward and we were told: “you can’t have the green dressing room because that is the one Jason Derulo is using. You are singing right before him.” That was a “no pressure” moment! It ended up being such a great experience and totally unexpected. What was your favorite part about filming your music video? I loved filming the bath scene although because we had to make the bath milky I smelt like off milk afterward…Gotta sacrifice it for the shot. I also loved filming in the cinema it was so much fun playing around with Mike my co star and eating too much popcorn.Filming itself was a challenge as Mike came all the way from New York City just for the 3 days of shooting and Remo lives in Venezuela. He was filming his part of the video there. When we had everything booked and under control, I got a part in a feature film and I really wanted to do this, the only problem was that filming was scheduled during the music video, so we had to find a solution. I was basically on film set during the day and filming dancing with me music video evenings and nights, for the 3 nights Mike was in London. I hope I don’t look too tired in it haha. What was the creation process like with "Dancing With Me"? I wrote “dancing with me” together with Soy Remo, an incredibly talented artist and rapper in Venezuela, we even share the same birthday aha. It was originally something we wanted to try and play around with the beat, but ended up being the song we both liked. Working with Remo and Juan who is the producer of the song was a great experience. It was not easy as Venezuela is having many difficulties and political instability, but this song proves that everything is possible even with all the obstacles we had to overcome. I hope to work with them again and I developed great admiration for the people of Venezuela. They never give up! Fuerza Venezuela. What was the visual concept you wanted to achieve in your music video? As we couldn’t film the video together with Remo, we thought putting him on the cinema screen could also work. The video itself is just a dream and everything is mixed up when in the end I fall back asleep. I still keep dreaming about having a perfect date one day… What is your favourite lyric from “Dancing with me?” My favourite lyric is probably: “baby boy I know you feel the vibe, I like you there’s no need to be shy”. I wrote those lyrics when I liked a boy at the time but it was difficult for him to open up. Typical boys haha. The lyrics were words of encouragement to him. I also like the part in Spanish as I love reggeaton and latin music. I think Remo is so talented and I can’t wait for his single “Sata” to come out really soon. - Elliot Duke Releases "Hit It from The Back"
Elliot Duke is no stranger to the world’s troubles and tragedies. Duke is inspired by innovators such as Doja Cat, Alex Cameron, cupcakKe, and Rina Sawayama. With this, Duke crafts sensual synth-pop and abrasive pop-rap with lyrics that use political satire aided by soulful soliloquy on sex and true-love. The state and Elliot have not been on good terms where he has been in jail, beaten by police, and found himself under surveillance by the US military. His social justices include LGBTQ activism as well as homeless rights. His track, “Hit it from the Back”, is a bright synth pop bop that shows a playful and laid back vibe from Elliot. Duke uses a lot of political and social references such as “I’ll love you until the ice caps melt” which just reaffirms his stances aided by song. The soft “shoo be doo bes” are reminiscent of The Beatles and 60s music which give it a softer touch. As America’s social climate intensifies and increases, artists like Elliot Duke bring some light on the matter through easily digestible songs that are nonetheless powerful with its message. Regardless of your political stance , you will find that Duke’s music is groundbreaking and has created a genre of his own. Take some time to listen to Elliot Duke's "Hit It from The Back", and catch the artist's interview below where he sheds some light on the message behind his music creations! Your music is very light and fun, but your messages hold a bit more weight to them, how do you go about writing your music? I usually write by trying to imitate whatever music I’m most excited about at the time. I try to analyze why I like it so much- what is special about this or that particular song, and then try to create the same effect in my own work. My main goal is always to hold the attention of the listener or viewer in some way, so I try to include something unexpected, strange, funny, or shocking in every song. I want to get a strong reaction from people. I’d rather have people hate my music than have no opinion about it. Will you ever come back to the United States and do shows/make music? I don’t know! I definitely want to tour there again. I really love the U.S. and Canada and most of my family is there, so I might end up living there again at some point, but I really like Berlin and I plan on staying here. What do you think is the future for America is and how will this shape your music and your viewpoints? It’s impossible to predict right now where things are headed. This is a really confusing, scary, and important time for the whole world in fact. It’s inevitable that the U.S. will continue to decline as a world power, but the future of the political and economic landscape is uncertain. Things could improve a lot, or the country could suffer a long period of violence and devastation. I’m cautiously optimistic but only time will tell. The only thing that’s certain is that it won’t be boring! Mainstream music has become much more political in the past few years; "This is America" by Childish Gambino and "Land of the Free" by The Killers are two good examples. I really like the idea of combining the themes of politics and sex in music, so I want to continue to explore that combination with my lyrics. What inspired you to write your song, “Hit it from the Back”? When I wrote this song, I was listening to a lot of 90s pop music. Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and that kind of thing. And I realized that I’d never written a love song that was completely happy. Every love song I had written previously had some element of sadness or conflict; so my initial goal was to try to write a love song that was completely happy. Of course I failed, but I really like how the song turned out! And I never intended to make it political actually, but I guess climate change was weighing heavy on my mind because somehow it snuck its way into the song lyrics. Do you think by living in Berlin, it will change your style of music? It already has! I’ve been getting really into modular synthesis, and the next two tracks I’m going to release are a drum and bass track and an experimental electronic piece. - Kadeyjah Releases Hit Single “Close To You”
If you ever felt as if you were missing a fashionable RnB hit that weaves the lines between classic smooth vocals and urban trendy beats then you might want to tune into 22 year old, Los Angeles native, Kadeyjah’s new hit single “Close to You”. Kadeyjah has that smooth hazy vocal tone that knows how to serenade you with the perfect melody, completely adding texture and warmth to the song. “Close to You” reminds me a lot like those RnB hits from the early 00’s where the love bops were timeless and memorable. It was an era of fun in my opinion. Some of the most iconic RnB songs we know comes from that earlier time period and Kadeyjah’s “Close to You” has that ageless and classic vibe. I love how I feel like if I were to hear this song 15 years from now, I could still jam to it as I was doing in 2019. That’s an indicator to me that Kadeyjah knows how to cultivate an unchanging hit song. The song “Close to You” touches bases on the companionship between you and a significant other. It’s highly relatable because let’s face it, we all have or have had a special someone on our mind who has impacted us in a way where if we were to listen to music that discusses the corny butterfly feelings you feel, they would instantly come to mind. “Close to You” is a perfect love bop to add to your RnB playlists that draws lines from classic RnB to contemporary. Give a listen to "Close to You" on Spotify, and scroll further for Kadeyjah's exclusive interview below! You stated that you began recording music due to your realization that God blessed you with a gift. Would you consider yourself a spiritual and religious person? I would say Yes. I do believe in God and I believe in spirituality. I can say that I am more spiritual because of how I view energies, karma and blessings. I believe that everything happens for a reason and certain things are put in your life as a test. You have a classic RnB tone to you, who are some of your music influences? I grew up listening to oldies and that 90s R&B . Some of my favs would be Shirley Murdock, Aretha Franklin, jelly price, Jill Scott, Fantasia, Alicia Keys.. the list goes on. I was in love with the Motown vibes as well. How would you describe your musical style? I can’t really describe my style Because it’s unique to me. I cross between genres but I guess I can say I’m R&B . What’s the meaning behind “Close To You”? Close to you, I would say is me wanting to get to know someone I’m feeling and fantasizing about them. Where do you see your career in 5 years? In 5 yrs I see myself opening up shows, having a large fan base & just being well known and appreciated. I wanna be able to say that I worked hard to get to where I’ll be. So right now I’m workin to balance all that I have goin on and just develop my writing, sound, image and style. More work to be done but it’s going great so far. Familiarize yourself with Kadeyjah through Instagram and Twitter. #BuzzMusic
- Radiate With Roaman's New Single "More Than Enough"
From acoustic folk to reggae, passing through gospel and hip hop vibes, singer-songwriter Roaman weaves an eclectic and unpredictable tapestry of memorable melodies and inspiring, thought-provoking lyrics with a clear intention in mind: uplift the spirit, shake the collective conscience, and remind us that “everyone is family and everywhere is home”. Roaman just released his new single titled “More Than Enough.” The joyful tune begins with a delighted acoustic guitar chord with support from a natural sounding bird tweedle. That bird sound was instantly my favorite. It curated the entire setting for the song for me. I envisioned myself outside on a grassy field, the weather just right, and the season is spring. An early morning and you hear the comforting sounds from the birds and the riveting tune from Roaman’s relaxing vocals. It gives a sense of home, and just brings a sudden urge of joy across your mood. You can’t help but become naturally buoyant due to the uppermost radiance displayed in “More Than Enough”. The song felt natural and uncompressed than many songs where artists tends to let the music make them instead of making the music themselves. Roaman had a vision, and properly executed it, delivering us a vibrant hit jingle we can cherish for a time of prosperity, replenishment, and happiness! - Shy Vincent Gives Us "In Touch"
Shy Vincent is an up and coming UK singer- songwriter. His musical journey began two years ago when he began to transfer his thoughts from the pad to the mic, the feeling of watching a vision unfold whilst beginning to grasp the concept of what makes an honest track was deliciously satisfying to him. Shy Vincent released his single titled “In Touch” and by the first note I can already tell that Shy Vincent is about to become a timeless hit whom would be remembered for his smooth-sailing vocals and suave resonance. Shy Vincent gave his single “In Touch” this funky and groovy soulful flare that matches his airy yet full toned vocal quality. Think of smooth singers like Robin Thicke, Maxwell, and Michael Jackson with beats similar to artists like Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino’s “Redbone”. That’s the curated production of “In Touch” however, “In Touch” still has its own unique style individualistic from its comparisons which makes it an individual hit record! If you intune yourself in with the record you hear many different instruments one of the most noticeable for me was the grimy bass guitar. The bass guitar served as the base for the entire record and created that whole soul-esque persona for the single. I can tell Shy Vincent incorporated the styles of his influences which includes Mario and Ne-yo. "In Touch" is the closest vibe to where he currently feels he is vibrating. As a combination of smooth and sensual synths collide with insatiable head bopping beats and sharp lyrical delight we are left with a RnB/pop fusion that is hard to resist. Be sure to check out Shy Vincent's "In Touch" on Spotify. Scroll down to find the artist's personalized interview! How has it been growing up in the UK for you Shy? How did growing up in the UK influence your music career? Growing up for me in the UK for me was definitely somewhat a bit of a rollercoaster. I have always been someone who is very expressive in a multitude of ways. I grew up in a town where it was fairly hard for me to find people who thought in a similar way. Where as a lot of the kids were quite happy to hang around, smoke and drink I was always wanting to explore, find new things and have new experiences. Music was always an amazing outlet for me. I used to be obsessed with Hip Hop culture whether it be the Music Videos, the dancing, the word play. Being in touch with with American Urban Music culture was always something that excited me. Finding new tunes to burn onto a CD and listen to on my walkman whilst working on music video choreography in my head was a perfect evening indoors for me! I would always write and freestyle in front of my friend but taking the plunge to make it a career wasn't something that happened until about 2 years ago. I sometimes wish I had started younger but I definitely feel that from a slightly more mature perspective it's easier for me to understand what is required at that time in the industry from both a creative and business perspective. Knowing some of your personal favorites are artists like Mario, Ne-yo, and Keri Hilson, what are some of your personal favorite songs by them? Damn, so many. Okay so Mario 'Kryptonite' for me is a staple song for my life- maybe not in the way the song is directly referring, but resisting temptation for myself and so many can be so tough at times. I also think resisting and procrastinating are cousins, two states at two ends of the same spectrum, the song resonates with me and sounds so damn good. Also 'Music for Love' because it's so damn sexy and I love the love in all of its many forms. Ne-Yo is just absolute nostalgia for me, but my favourite song from him has to be 'When you're mad' simply because it never fails to take me back to a time where things were simper. Or I considered things to be simpler. Ironically he released a song on his 2018 album 'GOOD MAN' called '1 More Shot' which uses the same beat as my 2016 track 'My Feelings' which you can listen to on my SoundCloud (gotta love a shameless plug). As for Keri I don't know where she is but I want her back. Dare I say need.. She is an impeccable songwriter. One of my all time faves from her is 'Energy'. As an empath I can relate entirely to everything this song depicts. Beautifully written, catchy and she is one beautiful human. What was the most challenging aspect for “In Touch” for you? It had to be the recording of the track, I tried to record it in the summer and I had such hay fever it just wouldn't sound how I wanted it to. I also wasn't in an amazing place creatively however. I have a trait of over analysing everything which is my most powerful/ destructive tool. I let it go but something was telling me this song was the start of something beautiful and I still really believe that. I managed to get the vocals sounding how I intended around a month or so ago, I really feel like with this track embodies something that just sounds magical for me. I don't know what it is about the track but it really feel it reflects a part of my spirit and I love that. Did you have lots of fun shooting the video? What was your ultimate vision for your music video? The Video kind of happened off the whim. It's really simple and I like that it is but you can definitely expect my next projects to be a lot more theatrical and creative (but with the same aspect). I also want to explore my dancing as I am quite the mover. Do you have anything upcoming you'd like to share with us? I don't have a date as of yet but you can definitely expect a summer time EP and I am going to make sure it's sounding as sexy as it can! Catch Liam Cyr's exclusive interview below and read what the artist has to say about his take on "Wychlood", and what we can expect from him in the time to come! Hi Liam, can you tell our readers about yourself and how you started your career in music? My name is Liam Cyr, I'm a singer-songwriter born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, now living in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up, my parents always made a point of playing different varieties of music in my home at all times. I fell in love with music and became passionate about the stories behind each song. A few of my favourite recording artists include: James Taylor, The Beatles, Ben Howard, John Mayer, Fleetwood Mac, and Bon Iver. My dad began to teach me how to play drums when I was 3 years old, then I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 11, and I began writing songs when I was 16. I played in multiple bands over the years until starting my solo career in 2019. Where do you find most inspiration for your songwriting? I find inspiration from the people I meet and the events that unfold before me. Everybody has a story and every story has depth worth exploring, often layered with a wide range of emotions. I choose to write about what happens in my own life, whether it's about feeling inspired after a conversation with a close friend or stranger, or simply reflecting on past experiences, some of which I may not have moved on from, or completely understand. “Wychwood” seems to show significant amount of vulnerability, how did this song get created? Wychwood was written on my walk home from a night out at a bar after seeing my friend's band perform live. I had been going through a hard time, and was living with a large amount of inner turmoil. It has always been easier for me to address any issues I may be having by writing them down and reading them back. That's what Wychwood is, a journal entry. The name of the song is simply the neighborhood I was walking through as I collected my thoughts that night. How would you describe your personal musical style? My personal musical style is a combination of classic folk and soft rock, with elements of modern day electronic sound design. As a child, my parents played music from many different genres, which inspired me to weave new elements into my own songs and productions. What moment in “Wychwood” do you believe has the most impact? I believe the chorus in Wychwood has the most impact. It is as honest as I could be with myself, and I feel that other people can relate to the feeling of spiraling out of control and simply wanting to be held by those they love most, whether they're still alive or have moved on. In the end, everybody wants to know that they are loved. Do you have a favorite lyric in "Wychwood"? Personally, my favorite lyric in Wychwood is: "Say Goodbye is what I heard as I stumbled home, reminded me of you." Say Goodbye is a song written by Fleetwood Mac that I was listening to as I walked through the neighborhood on the evening that I reflected on past and current events. I had been listening to that song on repeat for a couple of days trying to understand how somebody could be so honest with their lyrics, and not be afraid to share them. That composition was a big turning point in my songwriting career, opening my eyes to the benefits of honesty, and releasing the fear of sharing my deep rooted emotions. We are all human after all. What can we expect from you in the near future? I have four singles being released over the next two months, as well as an EP being released in late summer. - Multifaceted And Rising Icon Alya Releases Mystic And Magnetic Album
Performer, artist, and multi-linguistic, Alya's music has been defined by critics as electronic, indie rock, pop, and more as it has begun to pick up the steam due to her addicting and captivating presence. but the truth lies somewhere undefinable between it al., She is an adept innovator of sound, songwriting and performing music that feel like a cinematic blend of styles and influences. This, in itself, serves her eclectic background. Born in Russia, Alya Michelson is now based in Los Angeles, where she has defined her largely experimental sound from her wide-ranging travelogue, being a classically-trained singer and ballet dancer. Alya released the most enticing and enthralling album called “Ten Years Solitude” beginning with her cinematic, dark, yet sensual record “Animals”. “Animals” instantly captured me by the eerie vocals and the mystic energy that you feel while listening. I knew at this instant, Alya will leave moments of shock and unexpected transitions. “Animals” served as a great opening for the project because it catches your attention and now you’re ready for what’s next. And what’s next is the cultural and completely sensational single “Seven”. "Seven" begins with a melody that keeps you afloat and carries you throughout this intricate record. It’s so dream-like you seem to fall in love with how Alya has already abducted you into her music. The hook completely adding that ethereal and hazy effect by her idiosyncratic falsetto vocals. The next song, “Half of the Sun” was more of a fiery yet still atmospheric hit. It felt like you were in war due to the super dope sound effects. It was actually one of the most unique songs I’ve ever heard due to the theatrical instrumental. It added a huge dramatic effect to the song that I ended up completely absorbing and loving. Next, “Heart Shaped Hole” is a complete shift in the tempo and energy. Way more subtle and way more unshielded. It felt more vulnerable than the other singles yet she still kept her metaphorically and poetic lyrical inversion intact. The next single “Puppet Strings” added a more haunting rock aesthetic to the album which in my opinion broadens and widens her diversity on the project. I believe this song could potentially hold more of a deeper aspect behind the lyrics that could really enhance the whole idea of Alya being a detailed songwriter. “Twenty Six” has a fast-paced, electric, and computerized type of rock introduction before Alya’s tangible voice continues to reel you in. after listening to this speedy single, Alya slows everything down with her record “Angel”. “Angel” focused more on her aerial vocal aesthetic and the sensation from the hook and riveting piano melody. If you ever seen a movie you know they reach multiple different scenes and moments ranging from happy to sad, and the music matches the specific scene. That’s exactly what Alya does for us. She creates multiple different scenes throughout the album and “Hachiko” would be the more subtle and melancholic yet delighted prominence in the album. After Alya brings charming melodies and yields us with different ambience, she gives us “Romano”. “Romano” has a unique introduction, but by this point, almost every song on this album has had a singular characterized introduction that’s specific to the song. Alya still delivers with the multiple transitions in Romano that weaves the lines between sad and aggressive. I like how you can hear the fire and passion in the delivery of “Romano”. One of my personal favorites forsure! The closing song on the album, “Colorful Dreams” was such a nice touch to the entire collective. (besides the opening record, Animals.. This is my favorite off the entire album!) It begins with smooth and sensual sailing vocals on a jazzlike piano chord before it raptures and she gives you the specialized sound effects to create a multifaceted record. Alya style is something I’ve never seen before and it’s why I had the most pleasure listening to each and every song off her album. She can surely say, “you can’t compare me to anybody else” because you genuinely cannot make such a comparison when her artistry is so personalized to her. With incorporation of pop, trap, rock, and jazz. Alya fuses it all together with her kick ass cinematic aura, creating the most intriguing album up to date! Explore and add some of Alya's diverse sense of music to your Spotify playlist. Check below for Alya's vision of "Ten Years Solitude", her journey from Russia to Los Angeles, and her take on the style she has created for herself as an artist! Hey Alya, how was the sudden change in scenery when you moved from Russia to Los Angeles. Any location you specifically prefer? Moscow and Los Angeles are so dramatically different that it is almost impossible to compare. That is why, probably, my transition from journalism to artist was pretty organic. I took " the road less travelled by”. Today I call Los Angeles home, my family is here and there is no better place for me. You incorporate a lot of cinematic sound fx in your music, are you a big fan of the theatrical? I even had a funny name for my style "cinema music”. I do believe in dimentional art and personally prefer it. When you try to engage as many senses you can, music just taste better. When I work on the song I am simutaniously thinking about the image, picture that will shine onto another meaning, how it may smell, what color the sound is. I am thinking about the performance and the visual story. All these elements are blended together for me. How would you personally describe your music style? Artistic fusion or musical expressionism. Future mainstream. Your album “Ten Years Solitude” was amazing. Are the songs purposely in this chronological order? Or were they at random? Ten Years of Solitude is a concept album. It is my personal story about becoming an artist. It has ten chapters that equals ten years of my life when I was creating/dreaming/working on my musical dream. Each song represent a year - symbolically, sonically. Songs are in chronological order, but since they are so complete, you may listen them randomly - each and every one of them is a tale. I am currently on the planet Heart Shaped Hole. This is my state of mind - pure bliss and happiness. BTW , official video for the song got almost 3M views on YouTube. What can our readers expect from listening to “Ten Years Solitude”? My debut album has a very important message - believe in yourself, work hard, love yourself and never give up. I hope it will inspire your readers and listeners to believe in their personal luck and uniqueness. - Digital Gringo’s Impactful Record Weaves Between Rock And Rap!
Digital Gringo released his single titled “Project Mayhem” and he fused together a unique combination of rock music and rap. He has his own unique style that’s special to him, and distinguishable for his artistry. “Project Mayhem” was an interesting record to me. If you listened closely to the lyrics, past his aggressive flow and bold image, you can see how deep the substance truly is. It takes a certain amount of intelligence in my opinion to be able to decipher the meaning behind this lyrical and poetic word play. His skills as a songwriter really popped because not many rappers can really have the message hidden behind a decodable verse. It seemed as if Digital Gringo incorporated lots of environmental influences and social problems in the world, into his rap, artistically expressing his thoughts with a banging beat and an impeccable flow. Digital Gringo delivered us witty bars and stuck to his specific style without attempting to be like anybody else. “Project Mayhem” authenticity and edgy flavor, makes this record a hit like no other and I believe people will be engrossed by the underlying message in the lyrics and the captivating rap flow, credible to Digital Gringo. Don't miss out on Digital Gringo's edgy single "Project Mayhem". Scroll down to get to know Digital Gringo through his personalized interview! What’s up Digital Gringo! Mind telling us a little bit about your stage name and what inspired you to call yourself that? Howdy, so my name Digital Gringo was bestowed upon me by my dad Slap Master Phunk. He is also the the tattoo artist in my first music video "Maximum Carnage". The way name came about was I started recording rap songs but didn't have a name to release them under yet, and after some backlash of releasing them under my old punk band Closet Nerd; I knew I had to separate my new music from my old. How would you personally describe your music style? My musical style walks the line of goofy and not giving a fuck to sincere opinions. My problem with a lot of musicians is they take themselves to seriously, I like being able to say what I want when I want, I do not filter myself for anybody. What inspired you to write your record “Project Mayhem”? What inspired the album is freedom, for the past few years I felt tied down by my punk band and I didn't feel like I could deviate from the formula, and I was never a vocalist so being the voice of my music gave me a lot to say. The album I feel is very bipolar because it has fun songs and dark songs with no in-between. What’s the meaning behind “Project Mayhem” ? The meaning behind Project Mayhem is simple. Don't live for materialism. I feel like my generation is driven by materialism, by consumership and by greed. Everybody myself included needs to take a step back and look inward and decide if what drives us is good or bad for the soul. I'm not trying to preach or condemn with the issues I address, I just want everyone to open their eyes and see we are essentially fucking ourselves and the earth. What specific genre of music you listen to the most? I listen to hard punk like Leftover Crack, rap like Aesop Rock, classic rock like AC/DC and then a lot of random stuff. My favorite song of all time is Semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. Keep up to date with Digital Gringo through social media: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Release Radar: Fergus Hambleton's Latest "This Is My Song"
Fergus Hambleton released his mellifluous single titled “This Is My Song” with attractive melodies from both his vocals and the instrumental aspect. Speaking on his capturing voice, Fergus has a solidified tone that weaves the lines between a deep chest voice but can transport itself up into a higher register where he can showcase more high pitched vocals and belts at specific and most appropriate moments in the song. Fergus Hambleton's voice also has this sense of warmth and comfort where you feel pretty much relaxed while listening. The instrumental has a slow to medium pace tempo with a consistent acoustic jingle and a nice bass guitar chord. I discovered slight undertones of reggae in "This Is My Song" which made this pretty unique for me. The lyrics kind of touches base on the fact that Fergus is pretty much serenading us. I like how the lyrics feel as if he’s dedicating the record to us as listeners. It makes you feel much more connected with the music and artist when you feel like they’re attempting to create chemistry between you and them although you have never met the artist before. It’s the special trait behind music not many artists can accomplish and Fergus accomplished it perfectly. Bravo Fergus Hambleton! Listen to "This Is My Song" here.
