- Perion Shares A Piece Of His Heart In His Latest “In Love”
Born Jerome Andrea Hunter from Pensacola, Florida, Perion has always been heavily influenced by music. Growing up in a home where his parents collected music and played music all the time, Perion fell in love with the Motown Sound. As a teen he started rapping and making beats for local artist which soon caught the attention of Former Light Weight Boxing Champ Roy Jones Jr. In 1999 Perion signed to Roy Jones Jr.’s label Body Head Entertainment as an artist and music producer. During his time there he worked with various major artist in the industry like Dave Hollister, Petey Pablo , Mystikal, Scarface, Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Bun B, the late Mr. Magic, Choppa Style, Snoop Dogg, Lloyd, and many others. He also landed his first Billboard Hit in 2002 with the hit song “That Was Then” on Roy Jones Jr’s Round One album featuring Dave Hollister, himself and Hahz The Rippa. The song made it to number 2 on billboard. After his contract ended in 2005, Perion relocated to Atlanta, GA. to further his career as a music producer and artist. In January of 2019, Perion decided to drop his first single as part of his New Years resolution and in February he released a song dedicated to his wife LaRese entitled “In Love” which is the song we are tuning into! This song is filled with so much love and even history. Huge homage to B.I.G. with this instrumental. There is definitely a spin on it and it gives it that RnB vibe. I love the twist he adds but it still holds true to that old school sound I remember. The piano gets me in this as well. So subtle but such a beautiful note in the song. I am not mad at this love song at all. It’s that perfect little balance of soul/rnb and hip-hop with an impeccable sound. I can hear the true love within the lyrics and passion through his vocals. What a killer song! Be sure to catch "In Love" here. Catch up with Perion on his Instagram and Twitter. Get to know Perion through our interview questions below! #BuzzMusic Hey there! Could you kindly introduce yourself to our readers? My Name is Jerome Hunter, but professionally I am known as Perion. Over your history of composing music, what has been the most life changing moment you have experienced? Getting my first commercially released, billboard charting song and video with me being featured in it and on that song. The song was for former Light Heavy Weight Boxing Champion Roy Jones Jr. called "That Was Then" and it featured Dave Hollister on the hook and Me , Roy, and my former label mate Hahz Tha Rippa. It made it to number 2 on billboard. What made you want to create a song dedicated to your wife? Love , Honor, and Gratitude. I wanted to celebrate her and show her off to the world. The cover is an actual picture from the day we got married. A lot of times we can buy gifts and flowers to show how we feel, but to me this song is priceless! It can be sold, but not as a duplicate. its an original. One of a kind like she is to me! And I get to be as playful in this song with her as she does with me when we play and joke around like were just dating. I love the choice of the old school B.I.G. beat homage. What made you go with this sound? The original artist of that song is Sylvia Striplin. She was Roy Ayers artist. I grew up on Roy Ayers music because my parents had a bunch of his records and her record was in that bunch too! It has a vibe. It felt like the type of record you could tell a story to. Being that Big used it too didn't hurt either. I look at myself as a young Roy Ayers/ Quincy Jones/ Berry Gordy of this generation. I love sounds and grooves! This sample has that groove! I couldn't write anything crazy over it! I wanted to keep it in the same vein and also pay homage to the originators of the groove , even with the hint of MJ. Im a Motown Sound baby, what can I say! lol Plus, my wife is from Detroit! I was just connecting the dots The Most High laid out for me. If you had any advice to give to those new and upcoming artists what would it be? Follow your own rhythm. Trendsetters set trends. Followers follow them! Love your music first! Make music you would wanna hear 20 years from now when your much more seasoned and your taste in music has matured. Be Original! Trust the groove! Bring your story to life! Be grateful and always put your heart in your music regardless of the climate. Don't dumb down your sound for a check. Your worth more and your music is God Given so that makes you priceless!
- Brain Salt Gives Us Electric Vibes With "Monster Hands"
Brain Salt is a brooklyn based electronic rock band. The group released its first EP called “Crowds”, in 2016 and its second EP called “Cleanin up”, in 2017. In October 2018, the band released its first single, “Monster hands” a Halloween-themed love song in two parts. The release of their record “Monster Hands” is a festive and unique love bop that we can add to our spooky valentines playlists! Their cinematic and edgy rock sound was something we found to be completely absorbable in the moment. What I liked the most about this record was its outgoing and quirky elements. The song instantly brought a joyful smile to my face due to the delightful and vibrant aura brain salt produced. It’s the upbeat and exciting section of rock music some artists tends to ignore. Rock comes into different spectrums and this mini subgenre of fun is rarely ever displayed. However it’s much appreciated and gives brain salt this authentic flare that could carry them a long way in this industry. Give "Monster Hands" a listen to here, and keep an eye out for their Instagram or Twitter pages. Check out Brain Salt's website to keep up to date with the band! #BuzzMusic Check out some interview questions below where Brain Salt gives us a sense of their inspiration and upcoming goals. What inspired you guys to name yourselves "Brain Salt"? Pete saw a medicine bottle labeled "Brain Salt" in a display about prohibition at a certain bourbon distillery/museum in Louisville while we were trying to figure out the band name. He felt this HAD to be the name and fortunately everyone agreed. How would you describe your music style? Dancey, jamtastic, funky progressive rock. Do you guys face any challenges in collaborating as a band? Not really. We're all pretty laid back and happy to try anything that anyone lays on the table. As a result we actually have several songs that came together within the first one or two times of playing them! Can you tell us about the creation process of "Monster Hands"? Coach originally wrote the music for the first half of "Monster Hands" as a tribute to his wife's unique dance moves (hands and arms waving up and down like a funky zombie on the prowl). He had written a separate piece of music that became, but was never intended to be, the second half of the song. However, after bringing both pieces to the band, it became clear that two pieces complimented each other perfectly. Pete then suggested lyrics that fit the vibe, and Adam worked out the vocal harmonies. Based on the Halloween and love themes, "Monster Hands" quickly became known as "a Halloween-themed love song in two parts." The song combines the best elements of Brain Salt: danceable, catchy rhythms, light-hearted lyrics, and solid rock 'n roll musicianship. As for the video: We knew that we wanted to do a video for "Monster Hands" that involved the band doing wacky things while wearing actual monster hands. We also had some vague notions of incorporating some tropes from 1990's MTV-era music videos (e.g. dancing while looking down into a camera, faded coloration, flannel shirts, all book-ended with that classic video tagline info). Additionally, we had access to three professionally trained dogs (Ernie the Aussie, Einstein the Poodle, and Izzie the Cutie). Putting those ideas together, we developed the concept of the band performing while wearing monster hands, and decided on two locations: Forest Park in Queens, and Troutman Street in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn (known for its incredible street art). We worked closely with Eric Mann, our friend and owner of Unreel Films, to plot out the video shoot, and shot the whole video in one epic day. Eric did an incredible job bringing our vision to life. He also captured some hilarious unscripted moments with the puppies that really tie the video together. What's the most momentary part of your career as a band thus far? Before we put out "Crowds," our first EP, we hadn't yet purchased our private jet. Fortunately, that was momentary. ;-) The most momentous/exciting point of our career was the release show for our first full-length record, "Brain Salt: The Album". We played one of our best shows in front of a great crowd at Mercury Lounge in New York City, complete with an amazing light show and disco ball madness. What can we expect to see from you guys in 2019? We're currently working on a few more music videos to support the album while also beginning pre-production on our next release, which will likely be our second full-length album. We're also hoping to make a live in-studio video EP from those sessions as well. And of course, plenty of shows since live Brain Salt is the best BrainSalt! We're currently expanding our live performances outside of New York City and into Connecticut, Upstate New York, Massachusetts and beyond. Current dates include: Fri. Feb. 22 at Main Street Tavern, Stratford, CT; Fri. Mar. 1 at the Bitter End in New York City; Sun. Apr. 7 at Lucy's in Pleasantville, NY; Sat. Apr. 20 (at the stroke of midnight) at Rockwood Music Hall; and Sat. May 11 at Newburyport Brewing Company in Newburyport, MA.
- Overeasy Blesses Us With “Blink”
This 4-piece alternative Hip-Hop/R&B group out of Philadelphia, PA goes by Overeasy. This quad combines elements of Pop, Jazz, and Alternative, the band and moves seamlessly through genres to create a unique sonic experience that attracts listeners from all across the musical spectrum. Smooth and soulful vocals with extremely catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics complement the funky, hard-hitting bass and drums, and the live performance explodes with energy and color. Overeasy's goal is simple, to spread positivity and unity through music that transcends genre, and to bridge the gaps between our neighbors to help foster a society and a culture based on love. OVEREAS-AYYYYYY! I mean this group is something! "Blink" is a funky, groovy, jazzy track. I mean I have no idea where to start. The vocals for both guys in this give it two very different feels but together they work so well! This group has that feature sound within themselves and that is always going to keep the music sounding fresh. Production was done seamlessly with sounds pulling from so many different genres. I mean what a blend. Then the visual they have for this song is nuts and done with so much in mind. If you love the song you will love the video even more. Overeasy did not fail here. Listen to "Blink" here. Our interview questions below will help you get to know Overeasy a little better! Hi guys! Could you introduce yourselves to our readers? We are Overeasy. As a band we are Greg and Wes on vocals, Chris on bass and guitar, with myself (Ty) doing all production and playing keys, and Malik on drums. What made you guys think to combine all your different elements to create one? Before starting Overeasy, all of the members were pursuing other musical endeavors separately, occasionally crossing paths to help each other record or get a band together to play live. These separate projects ranged from classic rock, to hip-hop, to reggae, to alternative, and so by playing together we all got a feel and a taste for different kinds of music. As music in general began to break down barriers between genre, we realized that we WERE allowed to combine everything we listen to into one sound and that it was okay to make something that didn’t always fit into one box. We cherish this aspect of our band maybe most of all because it gives us all these opportunities to connect with different audiences and different demographics and really just more people in general. Define Overeasy in reference to the band name Greg came up with Overeasy when he started the band after he graduated college. There’s no really deep or special meaning behind it, overeasy was just something that we all thought looked and sounded cool and we kept the name as we started writing the Moods EP. The song “Blink” has some crazy dope sounds and an even crazier dope visual. How did the concept for the video come about? So the concept for the “Blink” video came from our friend and creative collaborator Diamond Holland. She had begun helping us out with social media management around the time we booked the director, Bradley Atom, to shoot it. I had worked on videos with Bradley before, and we knew that he was great at taking a very vague idea and turning it into something great on the spot, and that’s exactly what he did. We all sat around Wes’s girlfriend’s apartment after taking out every piece of furniture, ordered mad pizza, and bounced a ton of different ideas off of each other, filmed them, messed around with a bunch of different lights, then did it again and again for the entire day. The end result is what you see now and we really couldn’t be happier with it. Do you guys write your own music? All of our music is written by us. The writing process typically starts with creating a beat or a rhythm or a melody with Logic, Chris adding his parts on guitar or bass, Wes and Greg coming in to finish off vocals. We write and track just about everything in our living room. Since adding Malik on drums, we now take everything we track at home and bring it to our rehearsal space so that we can rework it for a live setting and really make the music come to life. What's next for the band through 2019? 2018 was very good to us. Our last EP, Moods, brought us a lot of positive feedback and constructive criticisms that helped guide the band while creating our newest release, House Plant, which we released in the beginning of February 2019. Our main concern now is to show this EP to as many people as possible in whatever way we can. We’re already working on getting another video shot, and will be announcing a lot of great shows very shortly. Connect with Overeasy on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. #BuzzMusic

- Keido Bond Delivers Meaningful New Single "Impact"
Keido Bond is an upcoming artist whos music challenges him to open up about his bipolar disorder with an intention of helping others who are going through similar situations. Keido Bond's music primarily focuses on the subject of mental health while having lyrics and themes that covers most of his life until this point of time. Keido Bond’s latest track “Impact” brings us an insightful look at mental illness in the form of a theatrical rap track with beautiful imagery. Bond raps soulfully through every verse allowing the listener to feel every throbbing pain that he goes through while living with a mental illness. The instrumental have a strong bass sound to them increasing the intensity of the song. We also see the biracial cross of Keido being half English and Japanese. The angst and severity of emotion is similar to Joji especially with his bluntness of lyrics that hit you suddenly. “Straight jacket, they say they need that”, is just one lyric that shows Keido not only acknowledging the stigma that comes with mental illness. “This Isn’t Me”, this lyric alone will give you chills because of the raw emotion that you hear in his voice. Certainly a successful and upcoming artist that will bring more than just music to people, but art and awareness of an important issue. Listen to "Impact" here. - Coming Hard and Heavy FEENYX’s “3rd & Bream”
Formerly Beatty but now going by Feenyx. Like the actual sunbird, he recreated himself and and now he's on fire. Feenyx grew up in the Church where his Mom was an Apostle and his Dad was a Basketball Legend in the city, so it’s easy to assume he had the pressure on him. He transformed from a typical rapper in the pool of artists in Atlanta, to one of the brightest and exciting artists in the whole city. This project has been long awaited from his hometown of Charleston, WV. Since moving to Atlanta, he's stepped out of the shoes of expectations and created Feenyx and now it is really paying off for him. Now he's in Atlanta, running the streets with Freebandz, which is Future's Record Label and Feenyx plans on telling his story and won’t stop until he's captured his well deserved spot in hip hop. Sharing with us today his latest release "3rd & Bream". Dayyyyyum! This track definitely has that Atlanta influence. I want to point out the name of the song, "3rd & Bream". I assume it's a hometown street crossing or an area he was in a lot. Either way it is really catchy. As far as the song itself I love the production. There is something about the small things in tracks that I catch and this one is this faint bell that makes a bling sound and I live for it! This track has that trap/hip-hop bounce that is definitely one that I am sure is or could be in heavy rotation on the radio and in clubs. Lyricism is on point showing his word play and ability to play around the beat. This track is definitely on the way up if it hasn't gotten there already! Listen to "3rd & Bream" here.
