- GentleBeatz Takes You On A Journey Through “Soul City”
GentleBeatz is an artist and producer currently residing in Mozambique. His style can best be categorized as lo-fi hip-hop/chill-hop. His latest project Soul City was released December 31. GentleBeatz takes listeners to places they’ve never been. Through 8 tracks, you go through an emotional journey from broken-hearted to healed and sadness to happiness. Giving room for multiple interpretations for listeners to hear what they want at different points on their own paths. No matter where you are on your on journey, Soul City has something for you. This artist is truly artistic. It is no lie that he has a way of gathering musical components from jazz, reggae, hip-hop, soul, blues, EDM, r&b, folk, indie, and even world sounds to make his own very unique and distinct sound. Lo-Fi music is one of my top favs but when artist combine other sounds to that seamlessly it gives it a whole new taste. Picture your favorite ice cream but then they come out with a more creamier version and add your favorite toppings. Yum right? Exactly how this track turned out. The story in this track alone for me gave me a great deal of confidence. Like I made it through something and came out a winner and now I am walking with my head held high and this song playing on repeat in my airpods. Listen to Soul City here. - #NowPlaying: “Neighbourhood Nightclub” - Zkeletonz
The colorful electronic trio Zkeletonz gave us something new, fresh and original with their release of “Neighbourhood Nightclub”. When we first listened to this record, we were captivated by the vocalist unique sound. The high-pitched, scrunchy nose sounding resonance was so funky, groovy, yet intricately beautiful as it’s completely individualistic to the trio, therefore allowing them to stand out more than before. The psychedelic sound fused together by vibrant vocals and extravagant instrumentals. The record follows Zkeletonz on a nocturnal journey through the city they now call home. This is innovative effervescent songwriting. A love letter to London that celebrates lost ambition and dreaming big. Lush pulsating synth, rich powerful guitar and relentless driving drums combine to evoke razor sharp optimism and high energy joy. If the audio wasn’t enough for you, if you checked out the youtube video, Zkeletonz sticks to their niche and delivers a trippy visual that could complement the aesthetic of the song highly well. Listen to “Neighbourhood Nightclub” by Zkeletonz here Hey guys, care you introduce yourselves? Zkeletonz is a live electronic project which consists of Gav Venture, Ed Trotsky and Will Première. We make music together in east London now but all originally came from the middle of the UK close to Birmingham and Coventry. Both cities are seen by some people as British equivalents to Detroit due to their long associations with the motor industry. You guys have a bold and unique sound, do you have any musical inspirations that help engineer your artistry? Our sound is a 21st century take on disco and indie produced independently with the spirits of 1980s postpunk and synthpop in mind. In general we're fascinated by technology, politics and the environment. We like bands and solo artists who challenge audiences to think, learn and escape their daily grind through a combination of fantasy and commercialism, like Devo and David Bowie. What’s the meaning behind your latest single “Neighbourhood Nightclub”? "Neighbourhood Nightclub" follows some common lyrical themes for us like recreation and romance but also touches on how those things are affected by people's relationships with the cities and towns they occupy. We find it strange that innately charismatic places don't become characters in songs more often. Filmmakers, photographers and visual artists seem to understand and use the power of setting and scene more than musicians today. How is this song different than anything you've come out with in the past? Well it's a love letter to London rather than something more abstract or vague! The song also tries to draw attention to a source of meaning and beauty that's often ignored; the local surroundings and urban contexts that the experiences and dramatic incidents in all of our lives actually take place within. We're conscious of how our own journeys, short and long, have affected our music. So on this track we've tried to contextualise the love and hedonism being communicated and portrayed, not just describe it. Have you guys performed live yet? If so, what’s the most exciting part about entertaining a crowd! This a shocking question! Why would any music artist not perform live? We truly shine on live stages and we have always focused mainly on concerts as our main form of expression and connection with fans and friends. We originally formed as a performance piece for a Halloween Party five years ago. Our Halloween party is now annual and we always perform. It's raised thousands of pounds for good causes like free bikes for refugees who can't get work permits and a new rail line park in London similar to the New York High Line. The best parts about Zkeletonz entertaining a crowd are our groove and your inevitable smiles. And hip wiggles. Little ones that start small but then just grow and grow. We literally just got back from playing in Coventry at an awesome gig celebrating UK Independent Venue Week. It's the city where the Two Tone genre was invented, uniting black and white youth through music at a time of aggressive political tension between the left and far right. After performing we visited The Specials cafe and museum to appreciate the local music heritage. We've also performed at carnivals and community festivals across London, and we regularly headline gigs for Vice in the London venues they run and programme. What’s next for Zkeletonz? Singles on Spotify and everywhere else every 6 weeks throughout 2019. Loads more gigs; next up we headline The Victoria in Dalston, east London on Friday 22 February. This summer, a five night residency at Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, to debut a brand new live show based on the end of the world. And a live session on BBC Introducing radio Coventry in spring. We keep busy! Haha! Check our website WWW.ZKELETO.NZ for updates. Connect with Zkeletonz on social media: www.zkeleto.nz www.instagram.com/Zkeletonz www.twitter.com/Zkeletonz #BuzzMusic

- Sal Capone’s “Bossa-Me Mucho” Is A Beautiful Masterpiece
Salvador Velasco, better known as Sal Capone is originally from Mexico but was raised in Texas. At the age of 12, Sal began playing the trumpet. Pulling influences from Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, Willie Colon, and Trombone Shorty. When he attended the University of Houston, he branched off into the popular/jazz music genre and has not looked back since! This artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist is currently working with various established as well as up and coming musical acts around Houston. So let’s jump to his latest single “Bossa-Me Mucho” and see what this composer is truly all about. “Bossa-Me Mucho” is one for the books! I mean I am a huge fan of jazz music and this single gives me life! Sal is a musical god; tying in some of his Hispanic roots with a blend of jazz. Such a huge compliment to one another. The intro starts off with some bongos and then just as you think this is going to be an island sound the trumpet sounds off! Causing a trifecta of beautifully composed elements carefully placed along the entire single. So sit back, pour up your favorite glass of whatever you love, and tune into this amazing single. It will not disappoint. Listen to “Bossa-Me Mucho” here and get to know Sal Capone in our exclusive interview as we talk to him about the release, new projects & more! Hey Sal! Mind introducing yourself to our readers? My name is Salvador Velasco but I go by Sal Capone. I am the trumpet gangster born in Mexico, raised by the dank streets of Houston Texas. And I have been feverishly pursuing music excellence since I was about 12 years old. What made you pick up a trumpet first? Growing up I always realized that in musical productions (any genre) the trumpet and drums always had the most ATTITUDE. Growing up latino, trumpet is prevalent inmost of our music and I was always attracted t the powerful energy of the trumpet. What would you say influenced the creation of “Bossa-Me Mucho”? Bossa-ME mucho has a number of influences, some jazz, some bossa, some afro-cuban rhythms. But to be completely honest I wrote the song in about 15 minutes with guitarist and co-writers of the song Luis Chacon because we were bored… lol!! We were just hanging out with our instruments and we said “Hey, lets write a bossa nova”. It’s not quite exactly a bossa nova by the books, but nonetheless bossa me mucho was born. Who are a few artists you would love to work with in the future? I would love to collaborate with a plethora of artists, casts like Quincy Jones, Sergio George, Ruben Blades or Bun B.. It would be an hour to work with these veterans of the industry.. But I would also like to stay hip with the times and work with cats like Trombone Shorty, and Jorja Smith, ThunderCat or Kamasi Washington..Tank and The Bangas MAsego!! The list goes on! What do you hope others get from listening to your music? I hope my music brings optimism and hope to people. I hope it makes them feel good and I hope the get the urge to get up and dance!! Can we expect more music from you this year Sal? Absolutely, expect a handful of charts and a wide variety of styles including more latin tunes, hip hop, jazz and maybe some brass band arrangements! - Ben Cesare Releases Electrifying New Single “Somethin’ Bout’ Somewhere Else”
Northern Grown, yet rooted in down-home country and Mississippi blues, The Ben Cesare is rolling off the release off his debut EP “Cesare’s Palace”. Ben recently released a new single “Somethin’ Bout’ Somewhere Else” and his all-American sound was equipped with your typical country grit. The southern tune stayed true to the elements that makes up a great country song and that’s why we enjoy it so thoroughly! The electrifying instrumentals and melodic chords by the guitar strings in “Somethin’ Bout’ Somewhere Else” makes up your subtly energetic country-rock hit. What we interpreted from this single is that Ben Cesare is discussing about an escape place where you can feel free from your typical day to day thoughts and motions. “Something Bout Somewhere Else” wastes no time before it instantly gets the party started with exhilarating energy fused in this addicting hit record. Ben incorporates bluesy grooves, heavy guitar riffs, and a northern-boy twang in a high-energy, live performance! Listen to “Something Bout Somewhere Else” here and get to know Ben Cesare in our interview below! Hey Ben! Care to introduce yourself? My name is Ben Cesare and I am a Nashville-based singer/songwriter, playing country music with a bluesy rock edge. I moved to Nashville from a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts four years ago. My band, Ben Cesare Band, and I came out with our first single, “Damn Yankee” followed by a 6 song EP, which you can still download and stream on places like Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, etc, called Cesare’s Palace. It’s made up of original songs that I have written with other writers in Nashville, As well as one given to me to record, “That Was A Man”, co-written by country singer Lee Brice. What brought you to Nashville from Boston? To make a living, full-time, as a country music singer songwriter and performer, of course! After graduating from a University in New Hampshire, and a short period of working as the lead singer of a cover band in the greater New England area, I decided to make the move to Nashville to further my career as an artist. Although I do have to sing other artists' songs from time to time as covers, I wanted to have my own voice and express my creativity through singing, performing, and songwriting. Do you think your growing environment impacted your musical style? Yes, I would say so. I got into country music around the age of 12 years old back in Massachusetts. I was on my way to a family reunion in upstate New York, and back when CDs and CD players were still relevant, my parents bought me bargain bin CDs to listen to on the ride up. A compilation CD of country music ranging from the 1970s to the late 90s was what got me into this genre. “Watermelon Crawl” By Tracy Byrd and “Third Rate Romance” by Sammy Kershaw were some of the first country songs that got me hooked. Expanding from that CD, I was introduced to the music of Toby Keith, among other artists, and then expanded my musical tastes from watching CMT and GAC. When I moved to Nashville, I was introduced to various types of country music and I have to say, I appreciate country in all of its forms. I have many influencers that help me define my style of country. I think I have something different to offer Nashville and the country music industry. How has it been creating music in Nashville so far? It’s been an experience indeed. Nashville is such a close community and I’ve enjoyed getting to know, network and write with a lot of singer/songwriters. Each singer and songwriter in this town has something different to offer when it comes to artist imagery an artist creativity. I have a great amount of songs under my belt, thanks for the help of several artists that I am glad I have written with. I have a lot of songs to work with, and it is a process nearing down which ones I should record and which ones are a better fit for someone else. Did you face any challenges in the beginning? What advice would you give to bands just starting out? Absolutely! For the first two years that I lived in Nashville I struggled. I had no family, I had no friends, and only my mentor, Lance Dary (Former acoustic guitarist for Randy Travis, Mark Collie etc) to help and guide me through Nashville. I played anywhere and everywhere that I could. Sometimes the venues hardly ever had customers and I would have to sing to a bunch of empty chairs and empty tables. But, if you don’t bring your A-game every night and entertain the people that are there, you don’t make tips, and you may or may not go hungry or pay your bills. If I could give anybody advice, I would say spend a short amount of time playing on Broadway here in Nashville. Anywhere from six months to a year of experience is enough. You get to play for hundreds of thousands of tourists that visit the city, and if you choose the right bar, you can make a decent living. If you want to expand your horizons as an artist, I would suggest networking with other singers and writers. Write write write. Even by yourself. Do you prefer studio recording or live performing your singles? Both experiences are great. Recording in the studio gives you the opportunity to start over, or edit what you record and sing. If you work with the right producer, you could have the artistic freedoms to make the song however you want. Playing your music live to a live audience, you can experiment and change your songs up the more you live with them. I do feel though that singing live has a little bit more flavor and heart, because your audience only gets to hear your songs once, and depending on how you feel, or how long you have lived with the song, they’ll enjoy it and you gain experience. Though I can say that in a studio, you get to choose how many songs you get to record in a day and how many days you want to record the songs. This gives you ample time to replenish yourself and get some rest unlike touring where you're performing long sets for multiple days. - BuzzMusic Heard It First: Bleu Stroud Releases New Single "Blue Town"
Bleu Stroud, a California native, is an 18-year old who’s music reflects that laid-back, LA-centric singer-songwriter style of her hometown. This multi-instrumentalist has no formal training, but instead learned naturally how to play the guitar, twelve string guitar, ukulele, banjo and the piano. At the age of eight, Bleu Stroud started playing guitar and wrote her first song. As a shy child, she found her solace in her voice and songwriting. As Bleu grew older, her music evolved into personal narratives about love, pain, trusting one’s self, enduring hope and acceptance. Bleu Stroud takes a quirky, fun approach to her melodies and lyrics, with a stylistic touch on alternative folk and a dash of country and pop with her silky smooth vocals, that we can't get enough of! Releasing her debut single “Blue Town" we are here to hear it first! Oh Bleu. My ears haven’t heard such an eccentric sound. This song starts of so very soft and subtle. Bleu Stroud's voice is so sweet and melodic, I was pleasantly surprised when the beat dropped and I heard a new age Taylor Swift style in her. Something classic but with a sweet kick to it. There are a variety of sounds here with the drums, banjo, guitar and even what sounds like an organ or piano. The climax gives us one last view at this amazing lyricist and production. The song winds us down to an ending with guitar strings and her beautiful voice. This country-pop-alternative-folk artist is bound to win over the charts. Bleu Stroud has so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to this year! We can't wait to hear what's next! Be sure to listen to "Blue Town" and check out our exclusive interview below where we talk about Bleu's new single "Blue Town" and her upcoming role in a feature film! Hey there! Would you mind introducing yourself to our readers? Hey, I’m Bleu Stroud. So excited to be featured on BuzzMusic LA! Tell us what music means to you, what inspired you to pursue music? To me, music is an escape. I can be myself and communicate things through my lyrics. Music lets me take feelings and situations, good or bad, and turn them into something beautiful. I’ve always loved music and writing and when I realized that I could put it together and create songs…..that’s the only thing I’ve wanted to do. How has living in Los Angeles inspired you as an artist? Well living in LA, I’ve been able to see a lot of my favorite artists perform live. Whenever I go to one of these shows, it inspires me so much and makes me want to be on a stage like that. What is your favorite instrument to play and why? I love playing the guitar. I play it almost everyday. Right when I get home from school, I pick it up….and usually start writing something new Could you give us a little insight to your latest single? I'm really excited because my first official single “Blue Town” is being released soon. I wrote this song almost 4 years ago, when I was 14. Basically the song is about a negative relationship….not necessarily about a romantic one. Just in general…about standing up for yourself…and not letting yourself get pulled back into that negativity and dishonesty. What about this song specifically is a direct reflection of you? My whole life so far I’ve lived in the same town, and I’ve never really stood up for myself. This song was my way of saying I’m gonna stand up for myself and not let others control my life. What can we expect to see or hear from you this year? So, like I mentioned my first single and music video “Blue Town” is being released really soon. I also recorded a full album with 10 songs that will be released soon afterwards. And I’m hoping to book a lot of live shows to support it. Lastly, I’m so excited to announce that two of my tracks off my new LP will be in the new feature film titled “Trading Paint” staring John Travolta and Shania Twain. The movie will be in theatres on February 22nd! I also sang the National Anthem for the film. So exciting for me to hear my music on the big screen! - SadBoyPete Will Evoke Emotion With New Song "Alone"
An auto-tune enthusiast and future songbird, SadBoyPete is a artist on the rise from Delaware. He is a artist that doesn’t aim to inform but rather aims to evoke emotion. SadBoyPete wants you to feel something after listening to his music. With catchy hooks and clever songwriting he paints a picture of his own personal pain he feels many can relate too. SadBoyPete showcases his frustration through vulnerable rap. The release of his single “Alone” depicts his unguarded sentiments and unprotected emotions with a trendy auto-tune vocal resonance riding the bass and beat perfectly. “Alone” is an idiosyncratic rap record that holds its own in a world of congested and overcrowded hip hop music that seems to discuss the same topics, without having a authentic story that’s personable to the listeners. The listeners can not only understand the meaning of the song but understand the meaning of the artist. It’s a special trait that SadBoyPete has to uncover his own personal layers for his fans and for his listeners. It shows you the true character of SadBoyPete behind the fancy tune. Listen to "Alone" here and check out our exclusive interview below. Hi Pete! Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hey BuzzMusic readers, I’m SadBoyPete, auto-tune enthusiast and future song bird. I appreciate you checking out my music and feel you’ll be able to relate to it. Why did you decide to name yourself “SadBoyPete”? I’ve had so many names lol ( I’m gonna try to list them) Kid Crack, Archie Waterbeds, Just.Pete, finally SadBoyPete. I was going through some personal stuff and at the same time linked up with some guys locally in Wilmington, De who are all super talented. I used to care more about “bars” and being clever but once linking with @Sqwalla(dope artist check him out on Instagram) and @nabidd(great producer and engineer check him out on Instagram) I really started to vibe with the sound coming out of their studio. I felt it more, and adapted my style. With that came a bunch of vulnerable music and SadBoyPete felt right. Do you draw most of your inspiration for your songwriting from your own personal life experiences? Yes!! Being yourself is the most important aspect of being a musician and something I take great pride in. I’m always true to myself. It’s common in music to try and be something you’re not, I know because It took me a long time to be true to myself. You have an incredible way of showcasing emotion! How do you channel yourself into your music?? This is a story I’ve told 1000 times. In the summer of 2018 at our third session, @nabidd told me to “stop trying to inform people and make them feel something.” That resonated with me and helped me channel my emotion. I was having a tough year, health issues, tired of my corporate job, frustrated with a lot of different things. With the advice from Nabidd and my own personal frustration I was able to channel my emotion into my songs. Do you produce your own tracks? No my producers are @nabidd @homegrown302 @drewfinessse. Those are their Instagram handles. @nabidd is the engineer. All these guys are stupid fucking talented and I give them a lot of the credit for my sound. What advice do you have for other upcoming artists? Be your self. Allow yourself to be inspired but don’t try to be anything your not. Also don’t rip beats off YouTube find a quality producer. Songs shouldn’t be more than 2:30 in my opinion. Find a catchy hook and go from there, if you have a good hook the verses will write themselves. - An Introduction to Vancouver's Professional Pianist and Composer Benson Lai
Hi Benson, care to introduce yourself to our readers? I was born and raised in Edmonton AB, Canada which is a moderate sized city of a million in Western Canada. My background is a professional pianist and composer for media. I have branched out and also became a singer/songwriter/producer over the years. I am a multi-instrumentalist playing guitar and sing as well. Knowing that you received a degree in Biological Sciences. Is piano playing more so a hobby that you've turned into a part-time career? Do you plan on perusing music full time? I actually went to Nursing school after I obtained my Science degree and became a Registered Nurse whereby I work full time during the day. I split my time through 3 musical endeavors. I have my own piano studio that I teach once a week, play piano gigs locally in the hospitality industry and run an audio production company writing music for a variety of projects in the film, television and video game industries. I currently just work on my music part time but eventually hope to transition to it as my primary career eventually. I love playing the piano but enjoy writing music more as my love is to emotionally enhance projects with my own compositions and songs. Mind telling our readers a little bit about "SOCAN"? SOCAN is the performing rights organization in Canada much like BMI and ASCAP is in the United States. 4. What has been your most memorable moment thus far in your career? The most memorable moment so far as a composer is having my music placed in a independent feature film based in San Francisco California called "The Minds of Men" directed by Sean Shing. A romantic comedy based from the perspective of men. If you can compose music for any project in the world what would you choose and why? I would love to work on Hollywood Film Trailers. Their epic sound is really exciting to hear so once I get the skill set for that it would be a dream to have my music in an official Hollywood campaign; in addition, I am a big fan of pop music so working on more singles from a songwriter/producer perspective be great as I predominately write instrumental music for media projects. What has been your favorite moment so far in the production of music? I think for me hearing the final piece is a great experience. With music technology now musicians can create professional sounding recording all from their home studios which is amazing as I get to have my music placed in projects around the world thanks to the advent of the internet. How challenging is it for you to compose music? At times it can be quite challenging trying to come up with ideas and turning them into finished pieces, but like all writers we love the process it entails. Mind telling us a little bit about your new track you're planning on releasing? I will be sending you guys one of my newer hybrid orchestral film trailer tracks. It blends modern sounds with the orchestra that you would hear in the latest movies and film trailers. Any personal favorite maneuvers of yours? Health is a big interest of mine as I am a Registered Nurse. I workout 4-5 x a week and taken up yoga recently to contrast the weight and strength training in the gym. I can do a mean child's pose during hot yoga which is just me in resting position lol. I have horrible flexibility so its quite humbling to me. - Monday Music: Nia Orea Releases New Hit "Budda"
Marcia Evans, known as Nia Orea is an electronic and dance musician. Nia's love for music started very early on. From living in a house where the stereo stayed on permanently to her uncle managing Bob Marley, Nia Orea was bound to be in music. Kicking off her music career by producing local dancehall acts became a huge success! Nia Orea's style ranges from a variety of styles within the Electronic and EDM genres, with teases into Trap, Pop, Future Bass and Hip Hop. Nia Orea describes her sound as “Urban Bass” with influences coming from artists like Flume, Bonobo, Flying Lotus and Diplo. Let’s take a look into a track off her new EP titled “Budda”. Nia Orea has some sass! Being in the EDM game as a female is tough enough but to come in with some heat this hard is amazing! "Budda" starts off with this nice build up...then the beat drops. This trippy, vibey, bouncy track will be stuck in your head for days! The production for "Budda" was done top notch. The vocal overlays are just enough. Some EDM artists seem to get wrapped up in just the vocals or just the beat, here we have a nice healthy balance making this hit smooth as silk. “Budda” has officially been added to my current work playlist and I encourage others to tune in and see how awesome "Budda" really is! Listen to "Budda" here and be sure to follow Nia Orea on social media for all new music and updates! Hey Nia! Can you do me a favor and introduce yourself to our readers? Hey Everyone! My name is Nia Orea and my aim is to make music that you can daydream to. I wanna connect and take my listeners on a journey. What to you is the hardest thing as a female in the EDM world? Getting noticed and being taken seriously.....I really hate to say it but things need to change....big time and its taking way too long. When you are stuck in your music, what are some things you do to get out of that creative rut? Well I'm a gamer so when I'm stuck it means its time to take a break, unwind and then the musical juices will start flowing again. Can you give us an insight to this track “Budda”? Wanted to create a hype track for the EDM community, It's festival season soon so you know. Also it was time for me to switch things up a bit. For the fellow EDM ladies out there, do you have any advice? Stay consistent ladies, network and stay positive. Never give up on your dreams and don't let anyone stop you from chasing after them. What can we expect from you this year Nia? I'm giving my all this year cause last year was all about growth for me, this year I just want to show the world what I got.
