JWill is a singer, writer and rapper from Houston, Texas who strives to lift his listeners spirits and first started writing and producing music at the age of 16 with nothing standing in his way and slowing him down. Aiming to write about changing the world along with tackling government ternary, JWill “believes that through the power of unity and love we can make this world a better place”. I love that “No Mercy” starts off with a voicemail, it really grabs the listener and gives them a personal look at the artist. JWill uses a technique of mixing singing and rapping to distinguish between verse and chorus which really gives “No Mercy” depth. The tone of the vocals during the choral parts has such beauty when hitting the higher notes that reminds me of the style that artists like Usher and Chris Brown have used. The higher vocals mixed with the clarity of the rap sections with lyrics that JWill spits out with ease and talent, but in my opinion with the collection of words that are so wonderfully written he gave himself that chance to really showcase the amount of talent that he is capable of. I’m from a little town called Coldspring, TX I basically grew up there.  My mom and I moved around a lot and we never stayed in one place for too long. What was your first introduction to music and did you know that this was your calling at that moment? Hmm.. probably in my grandpas church.  He was a pastor and so he always wanted me to sing up there.  It felt good moving the crowds and so at about 13 i started writing my own stuff.  I think I knew it was my calling when I mastered rapping, because I never really enjoyed until recently. Tell us what inspired you to write “No Mercy”. No mercy was inspired by my struggle and Marow the producers beat man. The beat was so smooth I just knew I’d kill it! How did you find your unique and uplifting sound? Definitely through a lot of throw-aways and having a studio at home.  I learned I didn’t want to be part of a crowd talking bout guns and drugs when I wasn’t about that life at all.  I stayed true to myself and that’s how I found my sound. Raw Webb is an artist and producer from New Jersey whose the youngest of 6 siblings and was heavily influenced by the musical house parties his older brothers threw. The importance of the disc jockeys in these neighborhood parties inspired Webb to pursue DJing. Webb began DJing for over 15 years in mostly college and house parties in the tri-state area. After witnessing firsthand the shift from lyricism towards commercialism within hip hop, Webb transitioned into songwriting, producing, and rapping. This realization, coupled with the end of his sports career due to a car accident caused Webb to turn his focus to music. Raw Webb released his single titled “Bully Bitches” and an artist with strategy, he released two different versions; the explicit and the radio edit. “Bully Bitches” has a crunk-like atmosphere, and the energy was HOT. This record had me moving with the beat and vibing alongside the song. “Bully Bitches” gets the listener hyped from the beginning to the end, there’s no energetic break in which you get a chance to become detached from the song, it’s just consistent. In what ways is your background in DJing incorporated into your music now? I would say having an ear for what the new sound is. When I DJ’d you always had to be aware of what’s new and what’s trending. So I take that aspect and that’s how I figure out the sound for the next record. Whether it will an Atlanta inspired beat or an LA inspired beat. I listen to what’s out and run with it. It’s really cool to hear the insight from a DJ! What was your favorite element in DJing a record and why!? Favorite element DJ’n I would have to say being able to control the crowd. I loved mixing the record and seeing the reaction on people faces. It could be cutting a new record someone hasn’t heard before, or that summer time cookout jam everyone loves. The reactions are priceless and I think DJ’s around the world feel the same way. Your song “Bully Bitches” was super dope! What was the vision behind it? Vision behind bully bitches is really an anthem to take what is yours. Be a bully about achieving your goals and aspirations. Don’t letting nothing hold you back. If you worked hard for it, then you deserve it so go get it by any means. This applies to music and life. We sometime hold back on pushing the envelope. Whether it’s fear or not believing in yourself. Bully bitches is the anthem to motivate. Usually artists had some sort of inspiration that encouraged them to write the specific record, so we must ask, what was the inspiration behind “Bully Bitches” ? Inspiration to this track would be after seeing the success after my first single dropped “What U Hatin For”. It was produced by one of Germany top producers by the name of MP Beatz. MP has a huge following in Germany so when the record dropped Germany went crazy. I gained a lot of fans in Germany because of that and other countries as well. I knew from that reaction in Germany that I was doing the right thing. So I had to go all in, 10 toes down and push the envelope. So the energy going into the studio while creating bully bitches was we taking this year.. period. And doing so with only being on the radio for 4 days bully bitches climbed to the DRT independent charts and stayed there for 3 months. That was my first time making the independent charts in my career, but won’t be the last. What’s next for you Raw Webb? What’s next for Raw Webb, I will be dropping an summer mixtape. Going to get some crazy features for this one. Already confirmed is Instafamous comedian dq4equis. I have a clothing line with my business partner and brother Harlem Rose called Raw Roses Clothing, so expect to see some apparel for the summer. Also working on some other business ventures. Planning to open an recording studio in my hometown. Give the youth an real experience to create good music and get real promotion. Since I know how the industry works now it would only be right to teach the young aspiring artist what I know. Cole Stafford and I (Casey Umphries) we’re friends for quite a few years. Cole was good friends with Kyle McMahon. One day I called Cole and told him I wanted to form a band, and asked him if he would be serious about starting something like this. I knew he played the drums, and I played bass/vocals, so all we needed was a guitarist. I asked Cole if he knew anyone, and he said I know just the guy. A week later, Cole, Kyle, and I met in Coles tool shed in his backyard and have been playing together ever since! However. We felt like there was something definitely missing. There was an emptiness in every time we played. We knew we needed another guitarist to fill that in. We went through 2 guitarist before we met our darling child, Brandon. And now it’s the four of us trying to make it in one of theworlds hardest industries! Until she reduced her life to hardcore drugs, and became very sick, and hardly recognizable. I was beginning to follow her down that road because I felt as if I had to. For her. But luckily I’ve always had people/friends well above the influence who guided me out of the life style. She unfortunately never made it out of that. We met again randomly 5 years later and talked for maybe 2-3 minutes. She wanted to bring up past things, but all I could honestly tell her was that I was doing fine, and looking forward. What artists/bands would you say influence your sound? Welcome to BuzzMusic! You mentioned to us how your music use to have more of a negative context than now. Do you mind telling us a little bit more on what you meant by that? Years ago when I started making music I was heading down a bad path in my life. From growing up being around nothing but negative things and environment, from my brothers in and out of prison to my house being raided countless time, to getting hit by a drive by shooting and watching the screen glass door shatter by a bullet as I was walking out. My music seemed to be the subject of all those things until later in my life I accepted Jesus in my heart and took a break from recording music until I was ready to speak hope and reach people who may have been once lost as I was. What are some challenges a Gospel rapper may face opposed to a regular rapper? Being a Christian Rapper I do get it somewhat harder than I did in the past because not everyone is going to agree with how you believe even if you're of the same religion and even if you aren't religious. You're always going to be questioned as this "perfect man" which is not the case. Every day we all make mistakes and that's no different. I personally do not try to preach down someone's throat but I can hopefully relate to many who once may have been struggling with their beliefs and feelings within themselves. I think I am no different than anyone else behind the mic and hopefully I can help guide just one person to Christ in their near future. “Jesus Work On Me” was excellent. Of course, nobody can tell the meaning of the song better than the artist themselves, so we must ask, what was the theme behind it? I was in a relationship when I was younger which led to us having a child together. She was living for Christ at the time but I was half foot in and half out. Our relationship struggled greatly because of that which led to a rough break up for myself. As time passed I began struggling with myself mentally and was probably the hardest and darkest time of my life. I do credit all of this happening because of God. I was not being the man I was destined to be in life and who I always wanted to be. Without any of this my life could have ended up as my brothers did and for that I am very thankful to God. It also helped build a great relationship with my daughter's mother even tho we haven't been together for years now and without Jesus that wouldn't have been possible. In what ways were you able to relate to this song Ben Jamn? Music has been a huge part of my life for 15yrs now so being able to write my thoughts is a gift I am greatly appreciative of. I was inspired to write this at a time in my life that I needed to write it because it was like writing the final chapter of my past life. Thank you for sharing your music with us! Upbeat and energetic, “Ibiza” explodes out of the speakers and brings the party vibe back into the album. As if I’m partying with friends on the Mediterranean Sea, “Ibiza” makes you feel every beat. The track features echoing drum sets and scales of descending electronic sound. “Zodiac” is the next track in “Vinyl”, it awakens the soul and transports the listener to an ambient place. Fresh and vivid chimes make there way through “Zodiac” and keep you entranced throughout. “Horizon” is the opposite of its predecessor, a house/dance track that will have you up and moving! “Horizon” provides consistent bass and high-hat synths that you can’t help but dance to. When the theme of “Vinyl” slows into a light guitar riff all by itself I was taken a step back, but soon after the soulful rhythm enters “Nightingale” takes shape. The first hint of the storytelling “Vinyl” coming to conclusion, “Nightingale” feels like I’m coming down off of a roller coaster of highs and lows. “Rogue” is heavily layered with EDM/drum and bass sound. This track “Rogue” further builds the foundation and conclusion of “Vinyl” through it’s mellow yet addicting aesthetic. Last but far from leasr, “Premonition” enters with incredible style to conclude “Vinyl”. It took me about a month of dedicated time to produce the tracks, and it was one of my easier albums to create because I had a better idea of what I wanted in terms of output. My favorite moments were working late at night when the rest of the world is sleeping, I find it easier to concentrate when there’s less distractions. My least favorite moment was waiting for the album to go live on all music platforms, as there was a delay in distribution. How do you create your tracks? I use a combination of programs including Logic Pro X and Ableton Live. Who are your musical influences? Growing up I was really influenced by The Doors and Tupac. They taught me that music is a great form of self expression. What is the overall theme of “Vinyl”? Can you tell us more about yourself and background? I grew up poor and was introduced to hustling and hard work at a very young age. I’m a mechanical engineering student, but, did ghost write music as side hustle. What made you want to start recording your own music? I figured there is more than just ghost writing. For example, I can sing so why can’t I sing my own songs? I couldn’t rap then but, I realized with a lot of practice and failures I can master raping better. So I decided to give it a shot even though I also knew it would take a while. What inspired you to write “Shootin da Flows”? “Shooting da flows” is metaphoric expression, and that I have a lots of verbal “bullets” which doesn’t run out, therefore, I’m going to continue shooting, because that I’m a boss. Is there something that you want your listeners to get out of “Shootin da Flows”? Yes, that is, be a boss, take the shot because you will NEVER run out of trying until you succeed. Guney Tamer, better known by his stage name Southesizer, is an independent musician, DJ, sound engineer, and electronic music producer. Originally from Turkey, Guney now resides in Los Angeles. He got his start into the music industry by becoming a talented violist at the age of twelve and performing with symphony orchestras throughout Europe. Southesizer eventually decided to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston for Electronic Production and Design and begin pursuing his passion for producing unique electronic tracks. Southesizer’s newest release “What Now!!” is proof of his experimentation within multiple genres of electronic music. His revolutionary sound is the result of risk taking and expert forward-looking vision. “What Now!!” features Guney’s own viola recordings made to sound like synthesizers and take over the primary melodic role throughout the track. How did you come up with your stage name Southesizer? The name Guney is of Turkish origin and means South.  When I produce my music, my main instruments are synthesizers.  Combining both - Southesizer is my name:)  I feel connected to my roots yet I am setting myself on a new path exploring the “world of sounds”, ways and possibilities to design unique sounds and music, experimenting, and taking risks.  I am Southesizer and I will take you on a discovery journey with me, making you feel different emotions, feel the music the way I feel it.:D How long have you been producing music? How did you decide you wanted to pursue something other than VIOLA? I have been producing music since 2015.  But it was rather an amateur experience.  Perhaps, I could say I started producing professionally after graduating from Berklee College of Music.  A few years back, I was studying viola performance in Germany as an Erasmus exchange program student.  By pure chance I met with an electronic music producer, was introduced to electronic music, and it became my obsession!  I wanted electronic music to be a part of my life and started to produce.  But while I had a huge passion for producing music, I realized that in Turkey I had limited access and resources to learn more about it.  So one day I was practicing my viola and said to myself “I wanna produce music professionally, stop practicing!”  A month later I was auditioning for Berklee, and shortly after I was on the plane to Boston. How did you translate your emotion into sound in your track “What Now!!”? “What Now” is a story of me coming to US pursuing my dream, following my heart, living my passion.  The first main drop is my adventure in Drum ‘n Bass style.  It is coming to Boston, new life, and expectations.  Main melody is told by using synthesized viola (which I play on this track).  I also use Mediterranean intervals there – all translate as experiences and life I left behind but not forgotten.  In the second half-step drop I am looking forward to a new beginning,saying what’s gonna happen now. How did you name “What Now!!”? The track is my perspective on a chapter in my life.  So, what now.  What waiting for me.  It is actually said in Russian before the second drop,-“I Chto Teper’!” – WHAT NOW! Who are you biggest musical influences? Why? There are quit a few, but I think Noisia, Infected Mushroom, and Skrillex would be my first 3 influences.  I’m always impressed by their sound designs.  For me they are the pioneers of future music.  I personally love distorted sounds, and their creativity with distortions is mind blowing.  They also have this dark side in their music, which I find captivating and cool. 23 year old hip-hop artist Kind Cotz from Richmond, Virginia is an unsigned rapper and lyricist who has been writing sing he was 10 years old. He has business, marketing and entrepreneurship experience and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018. King Cotz new release “Urgency” is a collaboration with the artist Enoch and reflects the growth that both artists have encountered along their journeys while also touching on the current state of rap and paves a rare path for the artists. King Cotz currently is working on music in Richmond, Virginia, Enoch is in Charlotte, North Carolina and the pair are working on changing the rap scene with urgency. Don’t let first impression fool you with “Urgency” because this track gains traction quickly and is scattered with haunting sound along with the alluring tone of voice that delivers the lyrics extremely clearly. The beats are consistent and are mixed with various sounds that give this song a darker perspective in my opinion, and knowing that the song has been written about the current state of rap, it makes perfect sense. “Now we creatin’ Urgency” is just one of the many lyrics that solidify the fact that King Cotz and Enoch are trying to change the rap scene quickly, and with the talent that both artists have with lyrically dropping on fire lines that have deep meaning and beats that are unforgettable, I personally do not think it will take them long to make a big change. “Urgency” really is an exceptional choice of title as both artist have the ability to quickly drop lyrics with finesse, and I am a big fan of the mix of eerie tones that they use to creating the drive beats that accompany the vocals. Keep an eye out for King Cotz and Enoch as they are both artists that know exactly what they are doing and have more than enough talent to present their creations perfectly. Listen to King Cotz's new song "Urgency" here! Hey King Cotz! Welcome back, do you mind refreshing us on how you found your love for music? Thank you for having me back on Buzz Music! Music has been a tremendous inspiration to me my entire life. Since I write songs myself, I've always been someone that focuses on the lyrics, the meaning, and the structure of each song I listen to. I also love to study other artists and see how they have evolved throughout their own careers, as you can learn a lot. As for my own music, I started writing songs around the age of 10 as a way to get out all of my thoughts, emotions, and memories. It started out more as rhyming poetry than rapping. Over time, my songwriting evolved into writing specifically to rap beats and instrumentals that inspired me. Now I'm focused on putting out the best possible music, and improving in every aspect of my music and brand. What was your favorite part of writing and recording “Urgency” and why? My favorite part of writing Urgency was really about the opportunity to work on it with my friend and old coworker, Enoch. He is a super talented artist and he has such a great attitude about collaboration and putting out the best potential music you can. I actually re-wrote my verses a couple of times - because it was an older written song and I wanted to make some changes after hearing what Enoch brought to the table. It was an entirely different song when it was finished than when we had started, and sometimes that's the awesome part of working with another talented artist and going through that creative process. Can you tell us a bit more about the personal significance that “Urgency” holds to you? For sure! Urgency actually has a ton of double meanings, like many of my songs do. The song is about doing everything with urgency - both myself and Enoch are working hard on our music and our professional careers at the same time while in two different cities (Richmond, Virginia and Charlotte, North Carolina, respectively). The song reflects both of our journeys to get to where we are at. At the same time, the song is about the urgency to create better music than what is trending now and to blaze a better path forward for all of hip-hop and rap. We believe in our lyricism, our skills and our message - and we both know there are potential opportunities ahead to be a better role model in the music industry. From an artist’s perspective, how does “Urgency” differ from other tracks you’ve written? From an overall perspective, it differs as I haven't released many songs featuring other artists to date. I really enjoyed having both our different styles on the same track, and the addition of Enoch helped shape the entire message and meaning of the song. Additionally, "Urgency" gives listeners a snapshot of how many different flows and switches I can bring to a song - you can hear both of my verses have very distinct and different flows within them. Overall, I believe everything added up to produce a very unique song. Can we expect to see any more song releases or performances in 2019? Yes you can!
