- Sitting In The Sun Soaking Up “Malibu Bliss” By Joey Capo
Italian-Vietnamese singer and song writer Joey Capo was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and began writing music at age 16. By age 20 he started teaching himself how to produce his own records and in May 2018 he relocated to Los Angeles, California to grow his music career further. His music offers a dark, chill, atmospheric take on pop and R&B with catchy melodic vocals throughout. As he continues to keep his sights on the true passion he has for music and strives to paint vivid pictures in his listener’s minds in every song he creates. “Malibu Bliss” has a very upbeat rhythm, with catchy beats that remind me of those found in “Don’t Wanna Know” by Maroon 5. The lyrics are descriptive, transporting the listener to what feels like driving around town with the top down enjoying the Malibu skies. This song has a definitive classic pop sound to it, with differing layers of beat between the moments with lyrics and without, adding depth to this hit track. Joey Capo’s vocals are relaxing and smooth, and he presents the lyrics with emotion and clarity. His style really resonates with sounds found in Pop and R&B and is one that you can for sure expect to hear on repeat as it really fits in with the modern sounds that have been introduced to this genre recently. I love his use of description to really help get the listener involved in the music, and how easy it is to find yourself moving along to the beat of this classic. Add this one to your feel good playlist of the spring and summer and get ready to relax in the sun! Listen to “Malibu Bliss” here and get to know more about Joey Capo below! Hey Joey! Awesome beats! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? My name is Joey Capo, I am singer-songwriter from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Ten months ago I took the leap of faith and moved to the LA area to further pursue my music career as a recording artist. Im a big person on stepping outside my comfort zone and pushing the limits of my creativity, as well as my everyday life in order to achieve the best version of myself. The music I make is hard to place in a specific genre, just because I’m a lover of all types of music. But when it comes to me creating the music I make, I try not to box myself into a genre but instead I allow my emotions to control the feeling and sound of the record. What inspired you to write “Malibu Bliss” and what is the meaning behind it? Malibu Bliss is song that describes a moment you have that awakens the better side of life. By learning to live life in the present. What inspired this record, was a sunset I experienced being in Malibu. Moving to LA, I know it was the best thing for my career in music, but I also knew I would be facing a lot of fears and struggles in order for it all to work out. I have experienced some of the lowest times in my life living in LA, as well as some of the greatest. I learned very quickly how real depression is and the feeling of being trapped in a mental state of mind, knowing I am meant to be here but at the same time you get this vulnerable sensation where you start to question your own existence. Till that day something as simple as a sunset in Malibu, changed my whole perspective on living life in the present. Hearing the waves crash, watching the sky change color, and really becoming aware of my surroundings. To the point you get this blissful sensation and begin to not worry about yesterday or tomorrow. But the only thing that really actually matters is that very moment. What are some influences in creating your sound? A lot of my music is influenced by the times of the day. The feeling of the music I make brings that sunset or night time vibe. I always felt those were the moments in the day the world really came alive to me. What new and exciting ordeals can we expect in 2019 from you? I am definitely bringing a lot of new music to the table. To the people who have been rocking with me since the beginning, are going to really see the evolution in my career from 2018 to now and I know even a lot of the newer listeners are really going start catching wind of the great music I got coming this year. I have started working with a new team of producers who have been pushing my creativity to another level. Challenging my music abilities by collaborating on different styles of music I have never done before. I can confidently say this year is going to be a great year for my music career. She brings a fresh perspective on pop and country music originating from her home country of South Africa. Currently, Dineo is working on her debut EP release which will contain her original songs. She spent the past three years writing music, and her debut EP is about sharing that experience, finding your own strength and defining who you are regardless of anyone else’s opinions. Dineo is excited to share her music with her fans. You can sign up to her email list so you don’t miss a moment of her musical journey! “I am Here” is a new single and title track from Dineo’s recently released EP. The listener is immediately struck with an immensely beautiful sound, with piano and vocals starting the song off. The vocals themselves are sultry, soothing and delivered with a confidence and maturity not always found in young artists. Strings help to round out the arrangement, and provide a great foundation on which the vocals are showcased. The backup vocal harmonies, however, are what really take this arrangement to the next level, adding a beautiful and breathtaking richness to an already gorgeous song. Dineo’s variety of colors and emotions in her vocals is impressive, as is her vocal range and confident delivery. The themes in this song are melancholic, but there is a sense of hope that radiates throughout. Her use of dynamics, vocal harmonies, and a simple but effective arrangement all come together wonderfully, making “I am Here” an instant fan favorite that you’ll want to stick on repeat. We highly recommend you check this single and the rest of Dineo’s debut EP out! Listen to " I am Here" here and get to know more about Dineo below! Hey, thanks for chatting with us! First of all, would you mind describing a bit about your background and how you first got involved with music and songwriting? I’m originally from South Africa and I moved here at the young age of 15 which is when I discovered I loved music but did not think I was confident enough. I still picked up a guitar and taught myself how to play. When I turned 18, I knew I couldn’t keep running away from what I was meant to do. Coming from a culture that does not think a career in the arts is fruitful I battled with owning who I was as an artist because I didn’t want to disappoint my family. I decided to go to university and study music because I had the tools I needed, I just didn’t know how to use them. As A young impressionable artist I met people whom I thought were going to give me a great opportunity, but they just wanted to exploit my creativity and change everything about me.I knew this was not how I wanted to be, so I walked away from that endeavor with my head held high because if I was going to be in the music industry, I was going to do it as who I am not someone, they wanted to make me.This knocked my confidence and I gave up on myself and doing music, but I was still writing music I just didn’t perform. It took me a long time to get my confidence back as an artist. When I turned 24, I was constantly writing music and I knew I couldn’t keep the music to myself, so I decided to do an EP. The Title I Am Here steams from everything I’ve overcome, and I am still here. As a native of Leeds, how would you describe the overall music scene there? The music scene in Leeds I would say is open, as a country/pop artist it could be better, but I feel like Leeds reminds me of New York City where you can find a place to fit in where ever you are from. There are a lot of great venues like the Oporto which is where I had my EP launch party. The Brudenell social and many more. There’s such a wide variety there is a scene for everyone. Can you walk us through a bit of what your writing process is like? Specifically, I’d love to know your process in coming up with all of the beautiful vocal harmonies in “I am Here”. I Am Here was co-written with a talented friend of mine and I was fascinated by how well our voices blended together so I thought this would be such a great experiment but when we were recording the song, I did all the harmonies because it felt like that’s where the song needed to go. The right feel was important to me. When recording I could anticipate every harmony. Lyrically I was in tears most of the writing process because this song meant so much to me, I had been carrying these words with me for such a long time it was about time I put them in a song for the world to hear, because they had the power to help somebody get through a tough time like I was. I grew up listening to old jazz music because my mother is a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and Nate King Cole, but she also listened to Dolly Parton and Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald and many more amazing artists. Who would you say your biggest artistic influences are? I have many influences especially modern ones like Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Carrie Underwood, Dan and Shay and many others who have inspired me. I didn’t understand representation when I was younger which especially now in the type of world we live in, I think it’s important to teach young children. There aren’t many women of color who are female country artists and I think it would be amazing to be seen as such, to teach young women of color who are learning about the world that you can be whatever you want to be and that’s okay. It’s up to you to decide not the rest of the world. What can we hope to see from you in the future? My Dream is to be performing alongside huge artists such as Carrie Underwood, Dan and Shay, and many other artists. I will continue to work hard and never stop dreaming big to get to that goal. I’m hoping to keep writing and keep creating awesome music that is true to who I am as an artist. - G Bae Bae Released Melodic Tune, “Just Like You”
G Bae Bae is a vocalist and producer who hails all the way from Buffalo, New York. He released his latest single titled “Just Like You”, and this joyful pop melody has relatable lyrics with a relaxing vibe to the song. The vocals were highly intricate to me. The complexity layered above the song showed various dynamics fused together at once, blending a harmonically rich sound. The fused together mix of falsetto notes, with a regular chest voice helped project the harmony that had this silk-like texture. The texturized single of “Just Like You” didn’t just stop with the brain seeping melodies, but he gave us a rapidly moving tempo in the delivery of his verses. This showcased his ability to be a multi-faceted artist with the capability of moving between the paces of slow, to medium, to even fast. I think it’s highly important for an artist to know how to project their lyrics clearly even while the delivery may be fast-paced. However, you were able to hear every lyric loud and clear in “Just Like You”. You connect to the music and connect with the artist. In my opinion, “Just Like You” is an inspiring and motivating song that basically means “I’m here for you and we are both similar in many ways” i think the message of the song is what makes this fulfilling for me. Many listeners can find themselves feeling comforted by G bae bae’s lending hand in the music. “Just Like You” has a more upbeat vibe with a mellifluous tone and serene message, and we’re sure many fans will enjoy it! Check out "Just Like You" now on Spotify, and read along for G Bae Bae's interview with BuzzMusic! What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far and how did you overcome them? Putting out music that doesn’t suck lol that’s the biggest obstacle. Had a lot of ropes to learn as a DIY artist. This past year has been a little stressful, went through a break up, moved 3 times, changed jobs twice. Tell us about the single “Just like you”? It’s an upbeat and positive record it seems but what is the context behind it? It was the first thing I wrote for this project. I wanted to do a more accessible sound, I wrote it about an old relationship. What inspired you to write this record? A break up. Ha. How does the title of “Just Like You” reflect its message? It’s mostly about how we’re more alike that we are different as people, I compare and contrast some things I went through this past year. Tell us about this upcoming summer! - The Captivating Debut Album “Father’s Boy” By Jonny Starkes Will Take Your Breath Away
Originally from Hare Bay, Newfoundland, Jonny Starkes lives in Toronto, Ontario and writes music based on his rise and falls in life as well as the world surrounding him. With soulful grit and peacefulness, Jonny leaves everything in the open and lays it all on the line. Heart and balls is his motto! What a way to start off this album! The album’s title song “Father’s Boy” really hits the sweet spot with such a pleasurable guitar rhythm mixed with Jonny’s gruff voice and a crisp drum line. A boy and how he looks up to his father, aspires to be everything his father wished him to be and you can tell that Jonny holds this very dear to his heart through the sentiment in his voice. I love the emotions that are running through this song and the fact that you can actually feel their importance while listening to it. “Belly of the Beast” was a complete 360 turn to a fierce jam. Jonny has a rougher tone to his voice in this song, giving this the right amount of power. His guitar riffs are balanced with the tone of his voice and the drums add in extra fury making this an intense delivery of the meaning behind the lyrics. Jonny has written a story of a man going through something tough who just wants to be heard and helped. It’s a tremendously impressive song. Grab your hunny and pull them close for this beautiful ballad. “Insane Love” is a heart melting song that reminds me of that picture perfect love that we all dream of. The harmonies between the two voices in the chorus tug at the heart strings as you can feel that there is passion between them. The lyrics create a scene in your head of him really pouring out his love to her. Really take a moment to listen to the guitar – it’s telling a story of its own that helps solidify the lust embedded in this song. Let’s jump right into this masterpiece of a song. “Best of You” starts of slowly then takes you entirely by surprise as the rhythm picks up speed. Jonny’s voice is a bit more refined at the beginning and gets some more rasp as he starts getting into the meat of this jam. The guitar and drums complement each other seamlessly. I feel like this is the perfect road trip song because this is definitely song you are going to want to jam out to repeatedly while taking in all the sights. “Mother” is a beautiful rendition about such an important figure in life. Another song packed full with emotion and love pouring out of Jonny’s voice, and he does such a great job embossing himself into each lyric. I absolutely love the harmonies in this song, the female vocalist has a gorgeous tonality to her voice that’s very soft and comforting that accompanies Jonny’s voice fantastically. Did you hear the violin added into this song? The subtle character that it gives this meaningful piece of music is just breath taking. Gather around the campfire, roast some marshmallows and take in “Run Run” because this is another passionate one. This song has a very country feel to it and descriptive lyrics that are sure to make you feel like you are out enjoying nature with your love. I love the tone of Jonny’s voice, and continues to show that he has real talent. The feel of this song flows well with the rest of the album. “Muskoka” is another classic, down to earth song that makes you feel good. Jonny is exceptionally good at telling the listener a story and he describes Muskoka perfectly making you feel like you are right there with him. I love that there is a little more vulnerability in Jonny’s voice in this song as he grazes the higher notes with such style but then comes back to this raspy, rock voice that is relaxing to listen to. This song was the perfect end to an amazing album and Jonny Starkes is an artist to watch for! Listen to "Fathers Boy" here and get to know more about Jonny Starkes below! \ Hey Jonny! Absolutely loved your debut album! Can you give us a little background on yourself and how you started to write music? Thank you very much. A little about myself ? Well I’m 33 years old and was raised in a small town (1000 people) called Hare Bay on the island of Newfoundland, Canada. In my later years my family moved to Toronto, Ontario for a chance at a better life and more opportunity. Now in regards of writing? Writing was something I noticed at an early age when having to write poems in school. That first moment of arranging words so that they have weight and power was an intriguing moment for me in grade 2 lol it gave me a small glimpse of the power in creation. Later down the road my parents bought me a guitar for Christmas at the age of 17 where I started to play and strumming to my own beat. The beginning of my craft pretty much all started at that point where I fell for the love of words and music as one. “Father’s Boy” sounds like it has special meaning behind it, how did you come about choosing the name for this amazing album? The title “Father’s Boy” was chosen when I pretty much already had all my songs for the album picked and my father was the diagnosed with stage 4c skin cancer. In his 1 year battle my album was put on hold. Then Before my father passed he gave me funding to start recording my album told me “life’s too short son” and to follow my heart and dreams. My father then later passed away and I wrote the song “Father’s Boy” which I chose to name my album in memory of him and what our family faced. You can feel the emotion in a lot of your songs, what types of things inspire you to write music? Yes there is a lot of emotion lol the things that inspire me are things that I am moved by from the world around me wether it be negatively, positively, indirect or directly. I try and take these emotions/feelings and portray them through my songs. Also a lot of times I find for myself that it’s hard to get things across with just words or expressing how I’m feeling, so writing is a way for me to pour my heart out. When people ask me what kind of music is that your playing ? I like to tell them it’s “heart and balls bud” it takes the balls to show your heart and it takes heart to have the balls lol Out of the seven songs on this album, which did you find you had the most challenges when it came writing both the lyrics and the music? Which song was the trickiest ? I found my song “Mother” gave me the most trouble because it was my letter to my mother letting her know how special she is and how special any mother really is. As a man you tend to keep that inside for some odd boyish reason lol When writing this song I wanted to capture the beauty in our bond, the journey from a boy to a man under her hand and letting go of being afraid to be affectionate towards her. The lyrics were crucial in painting the picture of how she should never be taken for granted and it’s the most realest thing you’ll get. No body loves you more than your mother and we only get them once. What would be your biggest dream performance? My biggest dream performance ? I’d have to say walking my mom down the red carpet and performing at the Juno’s or grammy’s! aaanndddddddd possibly one day sharing the stage with kings of Leon ahaha (yea buddy) tbh tho any chance to perform is a dream performance and I am thankful for every time I get an opportunity grace a stage and share my work. What new and exciting things can we expect from you in 2019? I’m super pumped for 2019! I’ll be releasing some more videos so be sure to keep an eye out for that and ..... ready ? I’ll be preparing to enter the studio to record my second album this year and hopefully release it by late this 2019 or early 2020. - NEW MUSIC: “Misery” By Calmgrove Is A Fresh Take On Pop Punk
Calmgrove is a popular band from Southern California. Comprised of five members Eric Guzman (Vocals), Tommy Maung (Guitar), Daniel Alvarado (Guitar), Sean Gonzales (Bass), and Nolan Hernandez (Drums). They fuse their melodious styles and inspirations to create a Pop Punk / Emo sound. Calmgrove’s debut single “Lifelong” was released March 2018 and since then they’ve been performing all over California with other notable bands such as Her Own Words, Belmont, Oh Weatherly, and Never Loved. Without skipping a beat Calmgrove’s new single launched into the Pop Punk music scene and we’re already fanatical about it. “Misery” is a heavy new punk-rock-pop hit that’s been blaring on my speakers on repeat! The powerful and precise guitar and bass from Tommy, Daniel and Sean in the beginning had me instantly hooked. Nolan’s incredible skill-set on the drums sets Calmgrove’s sound apart from today’s emo/ pop punk music scene. When Eric starts singing I was in awe of his vocals and fresh tone. The music video for “Misery” shows off the group’s chemistry while performing in a modern loft. It features many close-ups on the guitarists movements and Nolans intensity. When the focus is on Eric it’s easy to see the power he puts behind his spotless vocals. I love the hook before the last chorus, the music break right beforehand is flawless and the dance moves from Tommy, Daniel and Sean are light-hearted while they perform with ease. It’s so important for stage presence that the whole group is having a great time and that’s evident in the music video for “Misery”. Eric belts out he last chorus with crisp perfection and makes me want to listen over and over again. The catchy and addicting chorus in “Misery” remind me of a more finely-calibrated Blink 182. The SoCal band Calmgrove know exactly how to release hits that having us begging for more. Listen to "Misery" when it's released on April 24th here. Get to know more about Calmgrove below! Hey guys! How did the five of you meet and start the band? Daniel, Tommy, and I (Eric) went to high school together and have been playing in bands with each other for several years. When the idea of Calmgrove was thrown out, we decided to reach out to some other musicians in our area. Through friends we met with Sean (Bass) and Nolan (Drums). Once we all got in the room to work on some songs, it felt natural and right. What’s your writing process like as a group? It usually starts with a riff or drum idea, then we'll begin to build around it. Once there is somewhat of a foundation, I'll start putting lyrics and melodies over it. Its definitely a process though. We spend a lot of time changing and rearranging parts - we're definitely our toughest critics. Who are your musical inspirations that have helped shape your careers in music? We all grew up listening to bands like Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, and The Starting Line - which definitely kickstarted our interest in music . We all have unique preferences and expose each other to knew music whenever we're driving around together. As of lately, we've been listening and gaining inspiration from the sounds of In Her Own Words, LANY, Like Pacific, and Travis Scott. What’s the meaning behind “Misery”? Misery is about the hardships that come when relationships begin to fall apart. It's a bitter part of life that everyone can relate to and often leaves you wondering "What could have I done differently?" Friendships that you imagine lasting a lifetime can end up dwindling and the lack of their presence can really mess with you Can we expect an EP or full album? We have studio time booked to record our first EP! We are aiming for a mid summer release and are absolutely thrilled to get started. The support has been awesome and we're ready to show everyone what we've been working so hard on. Keep an eye out for some updates! Connect with Calmgrove through the artists Instagram! #BuzzMusic
- Battery Life Showcases His True Nature In “Distilled”
What is Battery Life? Who is he? What purpose does he bring? Well if you’re curious, Battery Life is the encapsulated culmination of a deep-seated passion for honesty, and a soul-nourishing need to write and arrange music for the sake of identity and catharsis—the music he writes is merely an extension of his corporeal form. He becomes re-energized by the purpose of refined self-exploration. Battery Life released his single titled “Distilled”. Distilled is the melodic and harmonically rich song that fulfills the meaning of purpose. The vocals are mesmerizing and captivating with powerful lyrics. The warmth texture added to the soft resonance soothes you over into a cozy setting, just right for the song. The transporting melody from the electric guitar brings you into a time period of classic alternative, soft rock music. The genre of soft rock music is gorgeous, genuine, and pure. “Distilled” is a representation of those authentic elements. The dynamics in “Distilled” is measured by delicate and compacted energy while adding expansion into more augmented and abrasive components. This requires significant amount of vocal skill that Battery Life personally possesses. Battery Life uses his music to navigate the rising tensions of early adulthood, the desire for more, and the struggle to break free from old patterns. The vulnerability in “Distilled” is what makes this song frequently played on my playlist. If you need the perfect melancholic tune that doesn’t shy away from being “Real” then “Distilled” by the extravagant Battery Life is the song for you. Stream "Distilled" now on Spotify, and keep scrolling for Battery Life's personalized interview. Hello and welcome to BuzzMusic! Mind introducing yourself to our reader's Battery Life? Thank you. My name is Joe and I am a musician from Michigan that makes music under the name Battery Life. What inspired you to create your stage name “Battery Life”? As I was working on my first full length, “fine.”, I toiled over what my stage name would be. I realized, amidst that sort of chaos, that a recurrent theme in many of my songs is death and what such permanence makes me feel and how it affects my approach to living everyday. Our bodies run much like a battery: we charge them, drain them, and repeat until they are worn. Battery Life. Tell us about “Distilled” and the lyrical meaning behind it? Writing “distilled” was an arduous process. The music took many shapes along the way and the lyrics even more. The lyrics explore the way in which we hide from the truth of permanence. We all have a shelf life, we know it, but it’s easier to ignore it and push on. As someone who has lived with anxiety and depression their whole life, I’ve found this fact to be as helpful as it is terrifying. I use it as a reminder to make the most of the time I have which can often motivate me to dig myself out of holes I put myself in. How does the title of the song reflect its theme? I find the word distilled and it’s different definitions to be beautiful. Essentially, purifying yourself, extracting your purest essence, and refining your life into maybe the simplest terms in order to find your truest self and happiness. Death is at the end of everyone’s tunnel but that only makes the time here that much more worthwhile. What’s next for you? We can't wait to hear what's next! Well, I’ve put out 15 songs over the past 5 or so months, so in the very short future, I’m taking it easy. I would like to get back to writing and working on the next EP sometime over the next month or so and maybe start some tri-state touring, but it’s all just a work in progress right now. - Ven Gerovitz’s “Titanic” Is Going To Make Your Heart Sink
Connecticut based singer Ven Gerovitz is 20 years old and began posting music such as covers and remixes recorded in his bedroom to his Soundcloud in early 2017. Inspired greatly by genres like downtempo to Hip Hop and R&B, Ven combines dark melodies over roomy, pop-rock reminiscent vocals and in February 2019 released his debut project titled “Joy”. Get ready to sink into another classic Hip-Hop song. “Titanic” is has everything a listener is looking for – metaphors, relatability, and a good beat. With a solid keyboard line to ease the listener into the coming power found in the beginning of the lyrics. You can hear that the music in this song is a bit on the darker, gloomy side but it complements the depth of Ven’s lyrics extremely well. There are several layers being slowly added throughout the track that also fade when Ven wants to emulate a specific point such as the line “Iceberg to my Titanic”. With obvious lyrical talent he surprised me with a faster rap section, where he absolutely nailed it with ease. Ven has a unique voice that relaxes and is able to depict the true emotion that he wants to be heard in this beautiful song. The secondary vocal track that creates the harmony between the two voices that is unique yet glorious in sound. Ven Gerovitz is an artist who is definitely going to stay afloat and bring new meaning to this growing genre. Listen to "Titanic" now on Spotify and keep reading for Ven's interview with BuzzMusic. Hey Ven! We Love “Titanic”! Could you give us a little more background about you and where you are from? I am Ven and I am a 20 year old singer from Connecticut. I began posting music recorded in my bedroom to my Soundcloud page in early 2017, posting covers and remixes. I then started creating rap songs with free beats I found on YouTube with a few friends of mine. I realized what I was creating with my friends just wasn’t something I stood for and I had to change that. With the thought of creating the kind of music I stood for came the thought of performing it the way I had always wanted to. That’s when I started singing. I’ve found that I tend to combine dark melodies over roomy, pop-rock reminiscent vocals. I am mostly inspired by artists like Blackbear, Eden, Sum 41, and Mayday Parade, if not by my sound, by other aspects of my music. I released my debut project, titled “Joy” on February 28th, of 2019. You seem to like using metaphors, have you found that using writing techniques like this one has helped make connections between listener and artist? Honestly, yes. I am a major believer that emotion plays a big role in music and it’s easier to paint a picture with metaphors to portray whatever message you’re trying to get across to the listener. I’ve found by using metaphors in my writing, it tends to guide the listener along with the message and feeling I am giving to help them see a little more into my perspective on the topic of the song. What is the meaning behind “Titanic”? The song “Titanic” is based around how I felt when my relationship with someone had ended. Honestly, I was distraught. I use the metaphor of the Titanic to describe the downfall between the two of us when I had discovered who she really was. To paint the picture, we were the boat itself cruising along perfectly fine with everybody aboard having a good time. We hit a roadblock, the iceberg in other words, when I had realized something was off. I thought we could make it through the little issue, but what I didn’t know was how much bigger it truly was. As we all know, they tried sailing the Titanic through the iceberg because what they saw above the surface wasn’t much of a worry to them by judging its size. It was the rest of the iceberg they couldn’t see below the surface that was the real issue and therefore sunk the ship when they tried getting through it. All in all, my song ‘Titanic’ reflects all of the things that had gone wrong in my past relationship and the sadness and despair I had felt following what she had done to me. Where did you draw inspiration to create your project “Joy”? I drew my inspiration for “Joy” from a past relationship. Almost everybody has been through a relationship that seemed promising at first and ended up not being what they seemed. I had finally met that point. This EP reflects the stages of my past relationship. The EP starts with the desire to be with that person (Joy), transferring into the feeling of awe when I finally had her (Lost In You), the downfall of the relationship and all the sorrow that followed (Titanic), to the anger that came with the betrayal towards the end of what I had felt (No Worth), and finishing with the realization that she might have been the right person for me but we just weren’t ready for one another yet (Right One Wrong Time). What’s can we expect from you in 2019? In 2019 you can expect another project, which I have already started, and more videos to go along with it. Unlike my EP “Joy”, I plan on having multiple videos for this next project because it’s honestly just another great way to let people in a little more on what I had been through, felt, or thought while making my music. I personally tend to feed off of the connections people make with my music. It drives me so much more to keep doing what I do that way. Prince Jupiter is an artist who creates music for the misfits. His purpose? To encourage everybody to be their authentic selves and embrace their own creativity. Prince Jupiter is the perfect artist to deliver that message with his addicting song “Trampoline”. Ironically, the melodies of Prince Jupiter bounces off the beat fluently just like a human would do on a regular trampoline. Despite, everything in “trampoline” connects together fluently and moves in a legato manner instead of a staccato projection. I loved how Prince Jupiter’s vocals sounded super classic and iconic. His riffs, runs, and skill was just incredible. My favorite note he hit was when he transported his voice into a killer high note, that sent chills down my spine! Not only did he just showcase the range in his voice, but he also does this in a stylistic way by giving you a riff and a run. “Trampoline” would undeniably be the hit of the summer. I pride myself in making something called ice breaking music. It's meant to start conversations wherever you are bringing back memories and feelings, as well as creating new ones in the moment with lyrical and melodic content. How did you begin your career in music? When I was a kid I was in church alot. I found myself a little my sized chair, and sat next to the musicians. I would sing and bring my little toy instruments and pretend I was part of everything. As I got older and discovered the jackson 5, I instantly knew that one day I wanted to be like them. Later I learned of more artist that would inspire my career such as Tupac and David Bowie. These artist inspired me to create my own songs and that's where I can say my career began. Tell us about “Trampoline” and the meaning behind it! Trampoline is a prime example of what ice breaking music is. Everything from the melody, to the lyrics, and even the bodies reaction to the song is metephorical to the title of the song, which focuses on the prime function of what a trampoline is used for and that's bouncing. What inspired you to write “Trampoline”? One day I was at a party and a song came on and I noticed that everyone began to move differently. Which made me think, "wouldn't it be cool to make a song where everyone feels the same beat and the crowd bounces up in down in sync". In the creation of this project I thought it would be a cool mix to take hip hop, fuse it with pop, and and a little hint of Neo soul. All while trying to tackle what everyone likes to do at parties, have a good time and mingle. What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far and how were you able to overcome these obstacles? The biggest challenge for me was accepting who I was as an artist. There was a point my career where I really didn't like my sound and I always attempted to sound like the main stream artists that I looked up to. It became so overwhelming and exhausting trying to be someone I wasn't. I remember one day over hearing a group conversation where they were discussing how they felt they weren't good enough for anything. And that shot a lighting bolt of growth in me, because at that moment I realized there are other people who need that motivation to be who they are. With accepting who I was as an artist I began wearing this half mask in the belief that, when people go out into the world they have to put on this invisible mask to get through the day. The mask I wear is symbolic in the sense that you can break through And still be successful with the real you shinning through. With the summer approaching, do you have any exciting plans or endeavors you don’t mind sharing with our readers? Prince Jupiter - Yes I'm working on a lot of fun projects this summer with cool visuals, so make sure you stay tuned to all my social media so you'll know when the next project drops. - Cracc Cobain Releases The Addicting Song “Checc up”
Cracc Cobain is the product of an artist who is influenced by all 3 coasts; born in the Bronx, resided in Los Angeles, and raised in Miami, he’s highly serious about music since he’s been playing since the age of 11, beginning with bass instruments. He started to dab a little bit in rapping at the age of 14 when he started writing in composition books, and participating in lunchtime cyphers. Once college hit him, he began to yearn for more. This was the beginning phase for Cracc Cobain’s journey in hip-hop. Along with Black Starz, Kool MC, MC dope, and Chino G, the collective known as “Alien Gang” was formed. After years of minor success, Cracc Cobain found himself falling ill which caused a halt on the collective’s movement in 2013. After years of pushing through it and recovering, Cracc Cobain and the Alien Squad is is back with their new released single; “Checc Up” off of their upcoming EP; “Lunch Time.” Checc up begins with an immediate piano melodic introduction that had me fully attentive. “I'm about to run me a check up” is the initiated lyrics that climaxes in energy before the beginning beat drop, before the hook transitions in. the hook had us head bopping back and forth while listening to the first rapper’s fire verse and contagious wordplay. One super dope element about the song that I found myself smiling at, because it was so smoothly introduced to the beat was the sound of a camera flick when he says the lyric “taking pictures like a camera”. The second verse by Emmy delivered the girl power force we love in a female rapper. Her aggression, energy, and dynamic projection helped highlight her star appeal. The entire song of “Checc Up” had me feeling it from start to finish. The lyrics were catchy, the flows were heat, and the delivery was insane. Every hit song has an addicting hook you can’t help but find yourself repeating even when the song isn’t playing, and “Checc up” is no different from the rest. With an enticing and transporting storyline that focuses on the flexing element of hip-hop where you can be cocky and brag about getting the money you righteously deserve, “Checc Up” will indeed serve as a hit to many! Stream "Checc Up" now on Spotify, and keep reading for Cracc Cobain's interview with BuzzMusic! Hello and welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell our readers a little about yourself and your music? Thank you. I'm Cracc Cobain and I'm currently 28 years old. I grew up Miami after living in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and the Virgin Islands. My music is an extension of my life. I just rap about what I actually live and see or lived and saw. Tell us about “Checc Up” and the meaning behind it? Checc Up means getting your money up. For example "Bro I'm broke right now but I'm about to get my checc up". What inspired you to write “Checc Up”? I was actually on my way to work the day that I wrote it. I was heading in to do an 8 hour overtime shift. I had the beat playing and started chanting "I'm bout to run me a checc up" jokingly but the cadence of it was catchy. I actually hated how catchy it was when I recorded but my engineer and everyone I played it for loved it. What do want your new fans to get out of your music? I want my new fans to get that I'm human and been through things just like them. I've worked a dead end job, I've been homeless, I been 50k up but through it all I stayed dedicated and prevailed. What’s next for you? I am currently wrapping up season 1 of my YouTube series #FreeLunchFridays and preparing the release of my next single "Marathon". That'll tie in to the release of my EP "Free Lunch". Stay up to date with Cracc Cobain through the artists socials: Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
