  • Canadian King Dylan Wears The Crown With “When the Stars Burn Out”

King Dylan is a dinosaur loving, gansta-rap-bumpin’, and athletic band geek born in Northern Alberta who finally found his Alternative Hip Hop stage name after an ex-girlfriend wrote “You’re the King!” in his high school yearbook. While living in Calgary years later, evolving his music with deep, personal storytelling and pop-driven melodies King Dylan was able to channel his quirks. This energetic and self-produced artist released the first single - “Play That Song Again” (2018) - from his upcoming 10-track album called “In the Darkness, We Can Shine” that tells the story of his late father’s passing and battle with cancer. The project finds its balance between acoustic guitar and piano with remnants of Twenty-One Pilots, Beck and Mike Shinoda. King Dylan has won countless awards such as Best Music Video at the 16th Annual Independent Music awards and the 2017 ISC International Song writing Competition for his 2018 Lego stop-motion video “Untouchable”. He has also recorded with several Juno Award winners, Swollen Members’ and Moka Only included, along with performing at many showcases and festivals such as Canadian Music Week and Blank-Fest in 2013, and Mighty Peace Day from 2013 to 2017. “When the Stars Burn Out” has a beat that is out of this world, with King Dylan hitting every lyric on point without hesitation. He quickly, and I mean that very literally, jumps in and shows us some serious skill with the clarity of each word during the faster rap sections. This hip hop classic never skips a beat and keeps bringing the heat throughout this descriptive tune. Gaining traction right from the beginning and eased into the lyrics with finesse as well as each instrument is able to gleam. The two vocalists in this song balance extremely well with each other and reflect well with the fast paced beat strewn across this timeless Alternative Hip Hop song. A classic taste of Hip Hop most often heard from artists like Macklemore or Taio Cruz, with a clean mix between rapped and sung lyrics. Listening to this song it was a dreary day out, but found that I was able to draw energy from the positivity that was embedded in each word and note. With a beat that is bound to get you up and moving and lyrics that are relatable, King Dylan is on his way to the top of the charts! Listen to "When the Stars Burn Out" here and read more with King Dylan in our interview below! So fantastic to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I go by King Dylan, I'm an Alternative Hip Hop musician/filmmaker/Dinosaur-snob from Calgary, Alberta. I like 90's Gangsta Rap, Sour Patch Kids, and staying up late obsessing over small details. You’ve said you write deep, personal songs – What was the meaning behind “When the Stars Burn out”? I wrote "When the Stars Burn Out" coming out of a depressive state of mind, feeling lost and not having anyone to turn to, so I realized I had to boost myself up. It's about letting your confidence and your unique qualities shine. The metaphor of the Stars burning out while travelling "in the darkness", means in order to know where you're going in life you have to create your own light, not relying on anyone else. Just be who you are. What kind of challenges have you faced while writing your new album and how did you overcome them? The time before and during the writing of this album was very hard for me as my Dad had just passed away and I ended a long-term, mentally abusive relationship. So after seeking professional help the writing somewhat came naturally. Musically and sonically I also needed help so a few mentors in the music industry helped guide my sound a little more. The mix and focus needed work. So I decided to use an acoustic guitar on every track and that instrument was at the root of every songwriting session, which was a new experience for me since I am primarily a piano player.  This caused me to think outside the box with a new instrument and collaborate with other songwriters. Being a personal writer, are there any artists that you draw inspiration from apart from your own experiences? It's hard to narrow down who I listen to. City and Colour, Tech n9ne, Yelawolf, Frank Sinatra, Shinedown, Eminem, Ice Cube, 2pac, Breaking Benjamin Is there a specific experience in your life that made you want to start writing music? A combination of taking piano lessons at a young age, being in High School Band, listening to all kinds of music, painting, writing poems, and loving to create What new adventures do you have in store for 2019? -My follow-up Single and Video is coming in May, as well as my album being released on Limited Edition Vinyl for the first time ever on June 1st.  More amazing music videos and tours this summer/fall! • CJcrewlove Releases A Lush Vibe, “Mafia”

CJcrewlove is an artist who was born in a small town called Orillia, Ontario, just north of Toronto. As a young student, others may have described him as “Problematic” and segregated himself from the other kids. To pass time, CJcrewlove would write poetry, draw pictures, and listen to music but in more specific; 50 Cent. Up until then, he was living in a predominantly white town where hip-hop didn’t exist as much. At the age of 13, he moved to toronto and began highschool expecting a fresh new start. However, he quickly reached the realization that there was an educational gap between him and the other classmates. He felt as if he didn’t know the knowledge they knew, and the school system failed him. As a result, CJ lost interest in school and this led to him skipping class to completely focus on his writing. Once two friends recruited him to be apart of their rap group, he took them up on the offer and never looked back. Today, CJcrewlove is quickly emerging as one of Toronto’s new faces to the music game. His music is a moody, but soulful mix of trap and soft rock. He released his single titled “Mafia” and it instantly began with a trap-soul introduction that reminded me of a Drake, The Weeknd, or Belly beat. “Mafia” is an atmospheric mood in which absorbs you and curates a different setting in your imagination. The melody is noticeable and even familiar, yet unique to CJcrewlove. This is why we loved “Mafia” so much because it had a strong mainstream appeal and it was fascinating to listen to this song as if I was listening to it on the radio. CJcrewlove has everything it takes to be the next big star in the game. The lush sound, swagger, and flow is all the correct ingredients needed to create a perfect hit maker! He knows what appeals to the generation and doesn’t shy away from who he is as an artist. He offers an authentic glance into his city’s glossy yet “edgy” nightlife. If you’re longing for more music from CJ, he’s currently working on his debut collection titled “Aquarius”. Check out "Mafia" here! Read more with Cjcrewlove in our interview below. What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far and how did you overcome them? One of my biggest challenges in my music career was finding my sound as an artist. In order to do that you need to really get to know yourself. Stop trying to be who you think other people want you to be and just be yourself, be original. Tell us about your single “Mafia” and the meaning behind it!? Mafias just my life, and most of the bad things I had to do in order to put myself in the position I'm in right now. What inspired you to write and create “Mafia” ? The inspiration from Mafia actually came from a video shoot I did a for a song called "OT." In the video everyone was all wearing suits so it felt like kind of a mafia vibe. What can we expect from your upcoming project, “Aquarius” ? mind giving our readers a little anticipation!? Aquarius is definitely going to go down in history. I put my heart and soul into it, the versatility is incredible, its definitely my best body of work hands down & I cant wait for the world to hear the album. Keep up with Cjcrewlove on social media! • Casey Conroy Puts Down Her Foot With Latest Single: “I Want U”

She has the voice of an angel, but this angel has an attitude tucked under her wing. Casey Conroy grew up in a musical household where it was only natural to play musical together, an upbringing that has gifted her with the innate sense to hone in on infectious melodies that appeal to audiences. “I Want U” is an airy pop tune with smooth synthesized beats, electric keys that set the mood, funky guitar interludes, and Conroy’s voice which is sweet and harmonic. The lyrics of this song are what gives it its edge: “I never understand a man that makes you work for his lovin”, “never have I ever, ever saw this, a man I had to chase to get a kiss”- it’s catchiness is to the point; cut the bullsh*t boy! Conroy was just 12 years old when she started playing the piano and writing music, and has she grew so did her music. Click here to stream Casey Conroy’s latest HIT “I Want U”. Read our exclusve interview with Casey Conroy below! Hi Casey! Congratulations on your latest single “I Want U”.  Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and why you have chosen a career in music? Thank you so much! I’m an artist based out of Orlando, Fl. I love making music and pretty much listen to anything that has a great melody. I think my biggest passion in the world is songwriting so that’s really what lead me to wanting to be an artist. It’s a funny feeling and hard to explain but I always felt most myself and whole around music. I wanted to spend my whole life chasing that feeling. What is the meaning of your new song “I Want U”? “I Want U” is a song that attests to the fact that everybody wants something. For some people it's a dream or maybe a person or even just a feeling. The song talks a lot about the emotions you feel in wanting something so bad and struggling to attain it. It’s a weird push and pull of emotions. You have collaborated before with other artists, what do you enjoy about being able to collaborate with other artists? This year has really been my most active year of collaborations and it's literally one of my favorite things. I love collaborating with people that have different vibes and strengths than my own because it always creates the coolest middle ground where the styles meet. It also really forces you to keep an open mind so you wind up learning so much each time. What does the creative process look like for you? It really depends on the song and the vibe I’m in. Sometimes I start at the piano (which is where I started songwriting), sometimes I make a track and let that dictate the vibe. Lately, I’ve been loving getting tracks from producers that have a title and writing a whole song inspired by whatever they titled it. What’s next for you? I have lots and lot of music that is finished and I just want to release it all! So lots of new music coming over the next year and I’ll be playing lots of shows! Live shows might be my favorite part of what I do so one of my biggest goals this year is to get a headlining spot on a cool tour! Connect with Casey on social media! Ice cream makes everything better. It could be 50 below out and it can still solve all the world’s problems (but not mint chocolate chip- that’s toothpaste people). “Lets go get ice cream” is a soulful indie rock song with the heart of a whimsical folk song. From the down home sound of the acoustic guitar, the steadfast beat, and Danny’s comforting voice, “Lets go get ice cream” is a perfectly concocted piece of art (much like chocolate peanut butter ice cream). The song puts into perspective the elements of life we get hung up on, our flaws that weigh us down and those around us. We should all take a page from Danny’s lyrics and “Go Get Ice Cream, Lets go get drunk, Lets go see a movie, Have some fun, Quit the fighting, move along”. It’s the best advice we’ve heard in a long time. McGaw, from Salford, England began his career as a pro soccer player in Northern England before moving to the United States where he traded his soccer cleats in for a guitar and started writing music. In 2013 he formed the folk band, Wells the Traveler, recording two albums before relocating back to the West Coast in 2015, it was there were he found fellow music companions Tim Arlon, (piano), Matt Cheadle’s (guitar), Tim Hutton (bass), and Greg Weiser's (drums) who, together form Danny McGaw and the 33. Their latest and highly anticipated album: “Northern Lad” is the most invigorated form of Danny’s music to date with its “big hooks, guitars, and harmonies”. “Let’s Go Get Ice Cream” launches today for your listening pleasure! Who have your musical influences been throughout your life? As a teenager in Manchester England I was heavily influenced by Brit Pop. Ocean Color Scene, Radiohead, Oasis, Stereophonincs.  Later folk music really captivated me, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Donavan, Paul Simon.  Tom Petty is also a massive influence in my songwriting. • Exclusive Premiere: The First Listen To Talkie's Fabulous New Single “Headfone, Pt. 2”

Talkie is a band from Fremont, California, just outside San Francisco. So far, they have released three records, “Hablas”, “Fundamental Things”. Releasing on Friday April 19th, “Headfone, Pt. 2” is a brand new single coming out by Talkie. Right away, the listener is met with a huge wall of sound. The drums, bass and guitars form together to create a lush soundscape. The verse is much more sparse, with calming vocals and ringing chords. The melodies are simple but effective, and the vocals themselves are sometimes punctuated with soaring harmonies that add to the already lush sounding vibes. The song ends quite well with the instruments dissipating and the guitar weaving through a beautiful melodic line. Talkie has managed to craft a single with a truly unique sound that is guaranteed to grab your attention. We highly recommend you give this brand new single “Headfone, Pt. 2” a listen today! Get the exclusive first listen to “Headfone, Pt. 2” below, and keep scrolling to get to know more about Talkie below! Listen to "Headfone, Pt. 2" on Spotify! Thanks for catching up with us! First of all, how did you all meet and form Talkie? Brad: Hey, no prob. Eric: Thanks for having us. Brad: Chris and I met in a hot tub. We bonded over Mobile Suit Gundam and the new Yellowcard record at the time. Matty and I are brothers, so there’s that. Chris kicked Eric out of an old band a long time ago, and well, here we are today. Eric: Chris negates this but he isn’t here to defend himself. Who would you say are your biggest collective artistic influences? Eric: Ummmm it changes so often. Beatles, Beach Boys, Barry Gibb. Brad and I did a deep dive into the VU (vaporwave universe) to varying degrees. We made some YouTube gold that no one really saw. Lately I’ve been jamming the Trolls’ soundtrack because it’s all my daughter listens to. Brad: Vaporwave. We all like The Strokes, I think. Everyone digs Mac Demarco except for Eric. Been sippin’ down too much of that haterade. What is your creative process like? How does all the music come together? Eric: Someone brings a song into Headfone HQ (our studio) and we jam it out together. Sometimes the idea is already really flushed out, and other times we start from scratch. We’re pretty much always recording so if something cool happens we can peep it. Brad: Someone might come with lyrics, but then we’ll tell them to write better lyrics, and often times, they do just that. You’ve got a brand new single out called “Headfone, Pt. 2”. Is there anything you can share with us in terms of a meaning or message behind the music? Eric: We wrote all the lyrics together in the studio right before we tracked them which was a first for us. Normally we write lyrics alone or in pairs but this was a team effort. Brad: The song dances around some FOMO-related feelings and self-doubt, socially. What can we hope to see from Talkie in the future? Eric: New album Everything Matters coming out soon! Brad: Live forever.
