- Yung Ballah releases A Vulnerable Hit “What If”
From Vancouver, Yung Ballah is an artist who always had a passion for music but never thought he’d start making it. He began writing when he lost the love of his life and had to find a way to release emotions. He saw his future as selling drugs prior to him discovering his love for writing and music. Every song Yung Ballah writes tells a story and doesn’t shy away from being authentic. Yung Ballah displays the raw authenticity in his single “What If” and it was refreshing to see. Many rappers seem to rap about things they’ve never experienced or know absolutely nothing about, however Yung Ballah shy’d completely away from that element of fakeness and decided to produce a rap about something he’s familiar with and that’s the personal life story of his journey. “What If” felt as if he was writing in his personal diary and allowed his listener to take a peep of it. It was completely special and helped us look at Yung Ballah in a whole new light that was completely absorb-able. Yung Ballah vents to his listener through “What If”, but also opens the doorway for the listener to embark on the mentality and thoughts of his mind. The whole aesthetic of “What If” was a soothing vibe with a melodic beat. “What if i never sold drugs as a kid” really stood out to us the most because it’s a complete vulnerable reflection on how Yung Ballah felt growing up. This heart-rending song touches you, and you find yourself connecting with the artist. Listen to "What If" here and get to know more about Yung Ballah below! Hello and welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell our readers about yourself? Well where do I start, I'm 18 years old and from vancouver bc, iv been writing music for about a year now and it all started when I had to find some way to vent my emotion that I had building up. Iv never been good with showing emotion whether that be happieness or sadness, When I wrote for the first time it was like bliss being able to channel my emotion out especially with the situation I was going through. I have a very versatile sound because of the way I use my emotion to write, days when im feeling great I'll try to make up lifting, up beat songs and when in feeling down I'll make slower more vibey songs. Tell us about “What If”! What's the meaning behind it? What If was a passionate peice of mine, everyday I always have these questions bouncing around my head wondering what could my life have been if I changed this or did that or stopped myself from doing this. I feel like we all question ourself everyday whether it be a small thing or if you get lost I'm your head and i just wanted to make something that people can connect to. Maybe raise somone spirits a bit by being able to put their thoughts into sound. How is "What If" different than songs you've released in the past? I'm not sure how to specify it's different from my other songs it speaks for itself, all my songs tell a story and it's just another story out into words. What do you hope new listeners get out of your music? I hope anyone that listens to my music can just connect with it ina way, I want my music to be able to just put people in a good mood. I find with music i like, it's always something that would make me happy while listening to it and I just want to shed some happieness i guess What’s next for you? I'm not sure what's next for me, do any of us really know what's next? I'm just hoping i can connect to some good people, get my name out there a little bit and keep trying to improve and expand everyday. Everyday is a new challange but everyday is how you make it. - New York City Based Jay Nomád Releases “Wanna Be Mine”, A Genre-Bending New Single
Jay Nomád is a producer and artist from New York City. He has a strong multicultural influence, having explored many different genres throughout his musical career. Since November 2018, he has released three singles: “Hanabi”, “Gone”, and “Wanna Be Mine”. His music could be described as a blend of pop, urban and electronic genres. Born and raised in New York City, he was influences as a child by classical, rock, hip hop and pop music. He learned how to play guitar and sing in his teens and started several bands throughout high school and college. In 2013, Jay took a hiatus from music due to a lack of inspiration, choosing instead to travel to several different countries where he discovered a whole new world of sounds in the various cultures he encountered. Jay took several years to build his knowledge of music theory and composition, and in 2018 he decided to pursue music production for pop and urban music. Currently, he is working on new songs with Colombian producer Juan David Morales and Taiwanese-American producer Tony Yang (Paprtape). With his current project, Jay aims to collaborate with artists from Latin America and Asia, bridging the gap between cultures that represent his heritage. “Wanna Be Mine” is a recently released single by Jay Nomád. The song launches immediately with a beat that’s catchy as anything. It’s clear just from a few seconds that this artist is also quite a competent producer. Every sound is clean, and all of the elements of the beat and synths fuse together remarkably well. The vocals themselves are clean, passionate, rhythmic and tuneful. The chorus is laden with hooks and will definitely become an instant earworm. The beat comes across as fairly straightforward, but there’s plenty to listen for in its complex and well planned arrangement. The middle of the song is nicely broken up with a verse in Spanish. True to this artist’s word, there are elements of several genres tastefully blended into this single. There is a definite urban feel, but the pop vibes are also undeniable. There is even a bass guitar, a subtle nod to rock music and instruments that are more traditional. “Wanna Be Mine” has a little bit of everything, and will definitely have you grooving in no time. We highly recommend you check it out and see what else Jay Nomád has to offer! Listen to "Wanna Be Mine" here. Read out exclusive interview with Jay Nomád below! Hey, thanks for catching up with us! As a New Yorker born and raised, can you tell us a bit about your thoughts on the music scene there? Thank you! I think New York is an awesome place to learn from fellow artists and explore different sounds. Music is always evolving here and you can always meet artists that are doing amazing work. You can also find venues for every kind of genre I would say. It's also very competitive but if you have a good list of songs and make good connections you'll find places to showcase your work. Who would you say are your primary artistic influences at this point in time? Mainstream pop, urban or electronic music. I try to avoid sticking to just one specific genre and with my third single I can see how different each song sounds one from the other. For example, I think "Wanna Be Mine" was mostly inspired by listening to J Balvin, Bazzi and Louis the Child while "Gone", my previous single, had some more pop influences and perhaps even rock. The music I'll be releasing later on this year takes on a bit of trap, reggaeton, and pop so I guess it's really hard at this point to identify a specific kind of influence for Jay Nomád. Would you mind walking us through your production process? How does your music go from ideas to coming together to form a fully fledged song? I usually sit down and play random ideas on the keyboard or guitar while mumbling vocal melodies. Eventually, I lay down the instrumental tracks of the song on Logic Pro X to start working on lyrics. To write lyrics I think of a personal situation or I just imagine something completely different from my own story, as if a movie were playing in my head. So yeah, some of my lyrics are personal experiences and others are just a mix of reality and my imagination. Once that's done I send the project over to my producer Juan David Morales in Colombia and he does the magic. Sometimes he'll redo what I've already recorded and lay down new arrangements to the song or just improve upon what I've already done. After that, I record vocals at my studio and he does the final mix. The mastering is done here in NYC at another studio. Recently Juan stayed over at my place in Queens and worked on another three songs with me at my studio. It's always a fun process especially if you have someone with his experience overseeing the whole production. You said you spent a long time honing your skills in music theory and composition. Does this more traditional education help you in some ways in your own musical process? Totally. I came from a background that didn't require much music theory which was pop-punk back in the late 2000s. I think that learning piano and theory altogether has helped me understand how to write better songs especially for the genres I'm working on nowadays. I see improvement every time I release a new single and especially with the upcoming songs I have ready for release in my studio. Working on my skills has also involved understanding more about music production altogether. So in a way, I would say I'm still an apprentice regarding production and working with Juan and Tony has been a great learning experience. What can we hope to see from you in the future? This year I have four more songs ready for release, they're just in the final stages of post-production. Three are coming out with Juan and another single is a song I worked on with Tony Yang (Paprtape) and with a Thai singer called Fawkes. I've also got two music videos I'll be working on during the summer and my first show coming up in June/July. Altogether I'm excited because the response has been great not only locally in New York City, but also in parts of Colombia, Mexico, and South East Asia. So I'm really looking forward to seeing where Jay Nomád will go from here. Stay in the loop with Jay Nomád on social media! - Drifting Away With Daniel Arena’s Vibrant New Single “San Andreas”
Daniel Arena started playing drums in a punk rock band from Santos-São Paulo, Brazil called Sandspit. He then began to learn how to play the 12 string guitar in the mid-2000s with influences from the John Butler Trio. During this time, Daniel discovered how to utilize alternative tunings which led him to tune his 12 string guitar to that of a Brazilian instrument called Viola Caipira, a 10 string guitar as well as a Weissenborn (an acoustic lap steel) and various other instruments. Learning how to play these Daniel wrote his first album ‘Libértula’, which was recorded in 2017. Next on his musical adventure came ‘URANIA’ which was developed in 2018 with several different sounds. Produced by Leo Garcia who has turned this collection of memories into a group of 15 songs with different stories to tell and was released in January 2019. A refreshing guitar riff starts this lighthearted tune off, giving the listener a relaxed entrance to the adventure that lies in the heart of this song. Painting a picture with lyrics, it’s easy to “drift around, head to the clouds” while listening to the soft, soothing tones of this indie rock band. Daniel Arena was able to describe his view of the town in an incredible fashion that really helps bring the listener along for the ride. The harmonies between the two vocalists works very effectively and they have been able to balance their tones to compliment the others voice. The guitar solo was solid and brings a depth to the already flowing rhythms found throughout this song. I hear bits of early 2000s classic pop songs as well as some newer indie rock scattered throughout, making this song even more intriguing as each time you listen to it you hear something new. Overall Daniel Arena has given listeners just a taste of the talent that is present, I can hardly wait to hear the rest of the album! Listen to “San Andreas” here and get to know more about Daniel Arena Hey! It’s pleasure to talk with you! Can you introduce us to a little about yourself? I live in Southern Brazil, on an island called Florianopolis, but my music experiences began long ago when I was a drummer at a punk rock local band from Santos, Brazil called Sandspit. After years of drumming, around 2011 I got my first 12 string guitar and I´ve decided to try new tunnings on it...I´ve done some researchs and tried to use tunnings from Viola Caipira, a typical brazilian instrument ( a 10 string guitar ) applying it on the 12 string Guitar. From this experiences my first album was born ( a 10 track instrumental one, called Libertula ). Once I have finished this project, I´ve decided to go for the vocals and started writing songs and lyrics, using the 12 string guitar, and also regular guitar and lap steel guitar ( Weissenborn ). The result in my second album released on Jan 2019. Other than artists, what kind of things do you find influence your music? Thoughts and images do influence a lot over my song writting. I am a photographer also, so many of my inspirations come from visual experiences I had or visual experiences those sounds can create. I like also to use daily experiences and ideas to inspire me on sounds and lyrics. When did you first know that music was your calling? On my college years, music was my greatest passion, by that time though more as a listener. Once I got at that punk rock band, I feel I could go further, but only years later after I made my first instrumental album, the result and the feedback from my friends made me realized that. From those days on, I am pretty sure music is the path Are there any other instruments that you are interested in exploring with in your sound? I really want to explore more the Weissenborn ( acoustic lapsteel ) sounds on my next releases, I really love the sounds and vibe that it produces. Not only as fills on songs, but as main instrument, as the main Can you tell us about the creation process of your new single "San Andreas" San Andreas is a name of an imaginary city, where everyone is happy just by being there and living the present. The concept in fact come from the buddhist teachings about living in the present, do not letting your mind somehow pushyou forward and back, creating anxiety or sadness..just breathing and living the present moment. The name of the city ( and the song ) came from my subconscious, was nothing planned, just a sounding city name ( that maybe relates to those cool citys of California´s Coast ). After sometime I've realized San Andreas was a GTA Game´s name and also the famous fault... What have you got going on in 2019? Still more 3 music videos for Urania are going to be produced, also I am preparing a special acoustic gig for late May this year, here at my town. The plan is to make some local gigs to promote the album, and at end of 2019 release new songs ( I´ve got 6 or 7 almost ready to go ) Connect with Daniel Arena on social media Instagram: www.instagram.com/darenamusic Facebook: www.facebook.com/danielarenamusic
- SoulelementzSoundz Releases “YehMon”
Soulelementzsoundz was founded in 1997 by LBM & Rizzz. SES blends together French, Haitian, and Hip Hop musical traditions for a sonic blend of soul. SES single “YehMon” was highly intriguing to us. It began with a chant that felt highly cultural to their background. Yehmon transports you into a different environment and you’re hypnotized by it. The mystic tune is eerily attractive to us. With hums, chants, classic Haitian drums, and a nice, clean-slated rap delivery, Yehmon is a song that stands out in a crowd. Yehmon has significant amounts of different elements in the song that creates an individual appeal to the tune. Different elements are approached in “YehMon” and the arrangement is intricate and unique. I’ve never heard a song like this before and it’s why I became captivated by everything it had to offer. It takes you by surprise but you’re oddly enchanted by everything. Yehmon has coordinated symphonies and an eccentric musical disposition. The vocalist in Yehmon has his own stylistic way of projecting the quirky lyrics. Music is all about creation and the freedom of art, YehMon is a true product of that idea, and we’re sure it would enchant you the way it absorbed us! Listen to "YehMon" here and get to know more about SoulelementzSoundz below! What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far? How did you overcome them? Musically the biggest challenge was educating myself to the game. I recall having beats dancing in my ears and not having a way to get them out. I was a SEGA, NINTENDO geek. If a video game had a sound test (able to play the gaming music without playing the game) I would flow to it while gaming. Eventually the tech start changing where it was not so expensive too cop music gear. The next challenge was learning everything, similar to my position musically now. I believe we (SES) have the base elements to be successful, however the game is a beast. I have always had a do for self mentality, however finding quality trust worthy people and building with them is a challenge. I overcome all my challenges by looking for solutions that work for me, for us, my family, and loved ones. In time things seem to blend and its not even a challenge anymore. Tell us about “YehMon” and the meaning behind this song? I am originally from Port au Prince, Haiti. I was vacationing in Jamaica one year and YehMon was like the period/exclamation point to the end of a phrase or conversation I had with people. I noticed that back in the states every zone I frequent says some form of yehMon. Philly "thatswhatsup" is a popular phrase. My favorite yahmeen (you know what I mean) is another. Im in NC right now and a plain "Yeh" can set it off. When the beat came for the idea it flowed so nice I couldn't believe it. I started writing the song while in Negril, Jamaica one year and 8 yrs later the perfect beat to fit came. For our readers who may not know, what’s the meaning behind the title “YehMon” ? I say that word so much and noticed how other cats say it with their own twist. So if some 1 asks you if the food is good, your reply YehMon. If you with your good peoples and they encourage you to do something positive the natural response is yehMon. It can be negative to but my whole contention was to get the song out of my head in a way ppl could vibe to it. What’s next for you? My next plan musically is to continue to record quality music. Soulelementzsoundz is about 20 plus years old. My manz LBM is the co-founder with myself. We originally started in his basement looping up beatz and free flowing to them. When it came time to do our on tracks, we naturally gravitated to the tech and gear at the time to help facilitate the process. Our original intent was a stress outlet to battle the stressors of Philly. Beatz for us was like motrin for pain or a sedative to help heal what needed to be healed. So in essence music is therapy for us and the plan will always be to self medicate on good vibez. Release vibez to the public and let it flow. - Check Out The Underhill Family Orchestra Progressive Pop Hit “When The Trumpet Sounds”
Bonded like family and dedicated to spreading a message of love and unity are what The Underhill Family Orchestra from Alabama are all about. Their unique sound is a modern fusion of southern new orleans style and progressive pop. Comprised of five members with individual and expansive skill-sets, The Underhill Family Orchestra will have you wanting to sing and dance your heart out. The Underhill Family Orchestra have a debut album titled “Tell Me That You Love Me” that was released May 2018 and this includes one of their many hits “When The Trumpet Sounds”. This piece is a light-hearted classic rock sound with a southern twist! Lead vocalist Steven Laneys voice is deliberate and smooth. The 4-part harmonies almost give it an acapella feel and the soul-filled lyrics are an anthem for the young at heart. The foot-stomping tune “When The The Trumpet Sounds” is a perfect example of the camaraderie and togetherness that this group stands for. One part that stands out to me is the hook before the last chorus, “If my body falls asleep and never comes back to, I’m on my way to you”, this powerful lyric resonates with me in a mysterious way. Of course he’s speaking to God, but I like to think it could be him speaking to a lost lover. I think that The Underhill Family Orchestra strives for their fans to interpret and relate to their songs in whichever way they feel is right. “When The Trumpet Sounds” put a positive spin on a song about the end of it all. The Underhill Family Orchestra spread positivity, unity, togetherness, and an overall family like bond. The music video for "When The Trumpet Sounds" is just the cherry on top of this overall incredible group. With so much success already, we’re dying to see what The Underhill Family Orchestra delivers next! Check out "When The Trumpet Sounds" here. Read more with The Underhill Family Orchestra below! Hey guys! We love your sound. Can you start by introducing yourselves? We’re The Underhill Family Orchestra! We’re Steven, Joelle, Ben, Joe, and Roy. How did you all meet? A few of us met in our college years and started playing as a 3 piece at open mics and such. Eventually we added more folks, went through some lineup changes, and became what we are now. The 5 of us have been together for about 5 years now. Why do you think all your unique backgrounds and sounds work so well together? Our individual music tastes and backgrounds combine to create something really unique. Each person in the band brings a different element to the song which makes it sound like us. If you have 5 people coming together with different influences, you’re going to get a genre-blended dynamic that isn’t mimicking one band or one type of sound. Where did the name The Underhill Family Orchestra come from? We wanted to incorporate a feeling of togetherness in the name. We’re a bunch of friends coming together to play music, and friends are your chosen family. The name Underhill was derived from a few ideas and it’s also an old family name on Stevens side. When would be your dream place to perform as a group? We all have our own favorite venues we’d love to perform: The Ryman, The Tabernacle in Atlanta, etc, but we just love to play wherever there are people who love music and who engage with you in stage. We really love playing festivals and getting to play for larger audiences who are really excited about new music. Will you be releasing another album in the next year? We will definitely be recording our sophomore album soon. Within a year we’ll probably have the first single rolling out. What's next for you through 2019? We’re writing and working on a lot of new music for the next album. We’ll be playing shows as well but our main focus is making more music to follow “Tell Me That You Love Me”. - Songwriter Craig Stuart Impresses With Beautiful New Single “Don’t Waste My Time”
Craig Stuart is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and percussionist from London, England. He is a seasoned performer, busker and troubadour, tallying up nearly 200 flights in the past 3 years travelling the world with his guitar. He has been a part of the London Underground Busking scheme for over 5 years where he gained a massive amount of performing experience. Stuart was previously in a band as the sole songwriter before branching out into a solo act, where he puts his emotions on the table with his melancholic songs. “Don’t Waste My Time” is a brand new single by Craig Stuart. The beat and guitar that begin the song immediately set up a vibe that is incredibly easy to dance to and will have you reaching for the volume on your stereo. The vocals are gorgeous and perfectly suited to the music. Each chorus is completely gripping and will have you singing along in no time. The arrangement is brilliantly executed, complete with piano and vocal harmonies that soar and complete the soundscape. The song itself is a perfect blend of instruments, and the simple arrangement allows the vocals to truly shine. This catchy single is something we know you will enjoy, so check out “Don’t Waste My Time” and see what this talented artist has to offer. Listen to “Don’t Waste My Time” here and get to know more about Craig Stuart below! Hi Craig, thanks for chatting with us! First of all, how did you first become involved with music and songwriting? I have always been really into music even before I actually played. I always used to sing along to my favourite songs in the car on the way to school as a kid. I was really into acting and drama so went to college to study performing arts, and as my singing got better I got a lead role in a musical. I spent a lot of my time during college learning to play guitar and continued on into university, but it was till after university and when I move to London I started to sing and play guitar. I always surrounded myself with others musicians, so from there I kind of just fell into it. Much like when I was a kid, i’m a bit obsessed with music and listen to it or sing and play everyday. Through the musicians I was spending a lot of my time with I formed a band to play the song I had written and it all progressed from there. Do you have a specific process when you’re writing songs? How does it all come together in the end? Everyone has their own process for songwriting and also probably for each song too. For me quite often I will come up with the music first or at least an idea and then I’ll just hum a melody along with it or i’ll look to some recent lyrics I have. I often jot down lyrics as i’m travelling around and then write music to that, it comes in different forms. Some songs I sit on for a while, songs don’t always just pour out of you, sometimes I need to sit on it and let it stew. For my single ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ I already have the music and the verse written, but didn’t have a chorus and one day when I was busking on the London Underground, I had turned up to my allocated time slot a little early so had some time to wait and this melody and lyric popped into my head ‘Don’t waste my time with I won’t let you down’ and had to quickly get my guitar out and record it into my phone so I don’t forget it and the rest is history. Who would you say your biggest artistic influences are? I have many artistic influences, some of my favourite music isn’t necessarily music that is similar to me but mostly just inspiration. My favourite album or all time is ‘Grace’ by Jeff Buckley, always loved how he used his voice as an instrument. Brandon Boyd from Incubus was probably the first singer to get me into singing. Biffy Clyro are my absolute favourite band, and Jimmy Eat World for their stunning production and beauty in their sound. More currently Dallas Green from ‘City & Colour’, Ed Sheeran, Gavin James, As you can see my taste is pretty diverse. I have always had a really eclectic taste in music and don’t believe in guilty pleasures, I love pop, rock, metal, hip hop, rnb, you name it. You’ve got a new single called “Don’t Waste My Time”. Beyond the title, is there anything you can share with us about the meaning behind the song? ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ started out as a kind of lovers tiff between a couple, but a couple that sort of thrive on that ‘Where were you darling when I needed you, but where was I when you need me too?’ and the pre-chorus is the ‘don’t f**k with me’ part of the argument ‘You can start a war, but you know how it will end’. Then when I wrote the chorus it is partly aimed at people saying they’re going to do something but you know they won’t, whether it’s someone offering support, going to help you with something, planning to see you etc, but you have heard those excuses before and even though you know to expect it, it’s still slowly breaking you down bit my bit and killing your soul each time. What can we hope to see from you in the future, Craig? I will be releasing a remix of the single and an acoustic version fairly soon, then I am releasing my 3rd single at the beginning of May, and then following that with my EP release in June. I am currently in the process of recording a little acoustic covers EP of some songs I really love and want to put my own little twist on. I’ve also been in the studio recently and started recording songs for the next record, so you can expect more releases and a second EP later in the year too. Plenty of music coming your way. DMGD vocals is highly resilient as well, which helps project the energy of “Animals” in a way we can’t help but to love. He takes his range into various different vocal registers from low to high, even showing the capability of big belted notes. A skilled vocalist, rhythmic beat, and a stylistic approach is all the ingredients needed to curate the perfect pop star! Stay on the look out for "Animals"! It will be released April 19, 2019. Read more in our interview with DMGD below. What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far? And how do/did you overcome them? I feel as an artist, you can’t help but face challenges. Yes, there’s the honest money struggle like, how will I pay for food? How can I afford to make a new record? However, the biggest challenge I face on a daily basis is my battle with depression and anxiety. It’s easy for some people to wake up and put a smile on, but for others- it’s a little harder. I think taking care of your mental health is extremely important and sometimes overlooked. I wanted to shine a light on the fact that many artists struggle with mental illness and maybe we should start sharing love instead of insults, hate, or jealousy. I truly believe if you stay true to yourself and the art you put out, everything will fall into place. Tell us about “Animals” and the meaning behind it? “Animals” started off as a few lines recorded at a songwriting session back in 2016. I believe the only lines we liked were “like animals” and “keep chewing on my love.” So when my producer, Nathan Walters, and I met again this past year, we both decided to revisit the track. I really wanted something sexy, fierce and grungy but very unique. The meaning is very straightforward. We are all animalistic at heart. I wanted to write about a possible encounter, almost a fantasy. What inspired you to write “Animals” ? Animals was inspired by a night out with my friends in West Hollywood. The gay bars, the grunge, the dancing. I wanted something that had substance but at the same time was fun and tasteful in an adult way. Do you have any key influences on your style of music? If so which or who and why? Currently I’m an avid listener to the Pop Rising playlist on Spotify. Truthfully, I get my influence from so many different artists but if we’re bringing it back to how I started to fall in love with music, it’s 100% Kenny Rogers and Louis Armstrong. Not the most common duo but that’s what my mom would play in the car when I was growing up. I really appreciate those artists. I get inspired when people get creative together, and whenever I hear something or someone so undeniably unique. What’s next for you, DMGD? Let me just clarify, DMGD = Damaged. Next up, I have a feature coming out at the end of the month, and a few more over the summer. Currently, going to start work on DMGD’s debut EP, based on my experiences while living in Hollywood. I hope you enjoy “Animals” and I look forward to making more new music for you all. Thanks! Keep up with DMGD on social media! Read more in our exclusive interview below! How does your environmental surroundings and upbringing impact your style and music? Since the age of what I can remember I always had a passion for listening and watching music videos to all styles of music. My father Gary Bertrand was big on me listening to other styles while we were in the car either driving home from working in his store or going places on the weekend just by being in the car. Of course me being me, I would dance while I would be at SunUP Shoes after school until it was time to go home. He owned the shoe store so music was always playing. Music was just always a big surrounding and impact on my life. As for when I moved to NYC I continued singing, my family always knew that singing/music was my thing. They would make me sing randomly places we go " talent in the audiences" and automatically i would get up and perform, sing just do my best. Singing lessons, piano lessons, guitar lessons you can name them all I was in. I always did talent shows years up as I went up in grades. Principals would recognize that I could sing and perform and started letting me perform at different school events. It was probably 2015-2016 where I decided that I was going to take music seriously. As for learning how to write my own music becoming who I want to become, a well rounded artist. This is who I am and what I'm going to do. I will never give up or stop. I was in the studio and around artist who are well known today so as for realizing lots of stuff it came from that. Lil Uzi Vert and Aaliyah inspired my style a lot when i started writing my music, the image, how to write cool captions and stuff like that. Eventually I sauced up things my way, I would say they still have a big impact on me as well as Xxxtentacion when it comes to certain feels. I created my own sound as we grew together with my music, ideas everything how to make everything sound the way it does. SS sound Tell us about “FL” and the meaning behind it !? FL is really about love. A love that i thought was real as for really real and no games. Don't hurt me just love me if you really love me and don't ever let go on both sides don't leave me. Its a love story on my life with a certain somebody What inspired you to write “FL” ? The love inspired me so it came from my heart. What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far? So many challenges down to life hitting me in different ways to see if I'm ready or am i going to cry at my problems and just cry. Let my problems become me or face my problems and say my problems aren't me and its the lesson or what i learned from whatever i been through or the reason life put me through certain situations. Making me realize what i need to realize but also most importantly making me stronger. Everything that happens is supposed to be that way its just how to react and deal with whatever is happening at that moment. I look for the light in all situations. People can imitate me to their best ability but they can never be me. What’s next for you? It's TIME Stay connected with Sea Sea on social media! Instagram: www.instagram.com/1seasea1 #BuzzMusic
- San Diego Based Artist Nondoh Releases “Going Out” An Amazingly Catchy Dance Tune
Nondoh, born Fernando Gomez, is an American producer, musician, drummer and composer who grew up in San Diego, California. At the young age of 9 he began to learn to play the drums, and by the time he was 15, he was performing with a number of different artists and bands ranging from jazz and salsa groups to rock and cover bands. Nondoh began in 2016 as a platform for Gomez’s original music. His debut studio album, “Catharsis”, was released in 2017, and 2018 saw the release of several singles. Currently, he is working on new music for future releases out of his hometown of San Diego. “Going Out” is a recently released single by Nondoh. This single opens with such a great beat, with a funky groove that will have you dancing in no time. This artist clearly understands what lies behind a great groove, with clear influences of funk, pop and some rock. The electric guitar and synths provide a rich and detailed arrangement that has so much variety. The verses are sparse but also teeming with soothing sultry vocals, and the choruses are catchy as anything and will have you completely drawn in. The entire song is jam packed with hooks, but it’s also broken up by an incredibly unique breakdown of percussion, synths and guitars, showing the true versatility of this young artist. “Going Out” fuses together elements that are both old and new - a funky electric guitar riff, classic synthesizer sounds from the 80s, a simple but powerful beat, and compelling vocals that are superbly executed, the result of which is maybe the catchiest thing you’ll hear all day. We can’t recommend this single enough, and can ensure you’ll have no regrets checking it out! Listen to "Going Out" here and get to know more about Nondoh below! Thanks so much for catching up with us! So first of all, how did you first become interested in music? When I was young my parents always had music playing in the house, so with that exposure obviously I fell in love with music! When I was 9 years old I started learning the drums then over time I started learning other instruments like the piano, guitar, bass etc. Who are your biggest inspirations musically? For me its James Brown, Quincy Jones, Prince and Michael Jackson. Can you talk us through what your writing process is like? How does your music actually come together? I always start with some sort of raw idea, whether it be a melody, bassline, or a chord progression. I take that original idea, record it then ill vibe out and add different elements to it. I have to make sure I LOVE every idea I add and its not just an idea that works, because lots of ideas work, but its the ideas that I fall in love with that always stand out and make it onto my recordings. How would you describe the music scene in your hometown of San Diego, California? Its definitely an up and coming music town! There is a lot going on and the music scene is growing more every day! lots of different music... jazz, latin, rock, reggae, r&b, pop, and lots of independent artists working hard on original music! its a big community and everyone inspires each other.. I love it! What can we hope to see from Nondoh in the future? More funky jams and possibly live shows! ;) Connect with NonDoh on social media Instagram: www.instagram.com/nondohmusic Twitter: www.twitter.com/nondohmusic Facebook: www.facebook.com/nondohmusic
- Prepare To Be Transported Listening To “Location” By Camera Cult
Camera Cult is a trio with a unique mixture of indie, synth and most importantly pop that is coming into their own as a group with a soothing and vivacious sound that is going to bust open the contemporary pop door. Ricky J. Vasquez and David Gonzalez are from Houston, Texas and met in 2007 in their freshman year of high school. After years of maintaining a friendship they decided to found an American Indie/Pop band in 2014 called Camera Cult. Influenced by artists like New Order, Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi and particularly Chromeo’s “White Women” album, Vasquez and Gonzalez began to write pop and dance music. In their earlier songs Morris Day & the Time and their 80’s funk pop shone through and the local Houston music scene was positive and enthusiastic. Despite this the pair wanted to evolve their music into a more contemporary pop territory. “Location” is a new song from Camera Cult and starts off with relaxing tones from the synth and piano. This head bobbing, heart throbbing song shows that this trio has real talent in the contemporary pop genre. With a catchy lyrics transporting you to another “location” along with the lively beat of the music, this song makes you want to listen to the end. The bridge brings a creative solo to the synth and helps the different tones of the vocals really come out. I can picture driving to the cottage bobbing my head along to this song on repeat, as it really is a feel good song. You can hear the emotion behind each lyric and note giving depth to this new age pop song, with essence of Phil Collins and definite hints of Prince found throughout this track. This up and coming trio has released a great song with meaningful lyrics and are bringing a new style to contemporary pop that is going to be a hit! Listen to "Location" here and get to know more about Camera Cult below! Hey! So great to chat with you all! Can you tell us a bit about yourselves? Hi! We’re Camera Cult but sometimes we go by CAMBOYZ. Three guys from Houston, TX. The band consists of myself, Ricky J. Vasquez, David Gonzalez & Skyler Scholtes. Our only goal is to create music that makes people dance. Playing to a live audience is probably our favorite thing to do. What made you decide to evolve Camera Cult’s sound into a more contemporary pop sound? I think it just came with age and the influence from the music around us. We spent a lot of time listening to contemporary hip hop and pop music that it just bled into our writing. And we wanted to find a way to make it our own and still be able to incorporate our roots. The main chord structure came to me by accident really. And then the sudden burst of creativity kicked in and I couldn’t let it go until we had a solid piece of music to work with. The lyrics wrote themselves and I was inspired by lines from Travis Scott and Kanye West. It’s funny cause we decorated the song like a sweet kind of love song but it’s actually about a scummy kind of guy. You all Sound extremely talented! When did you each start playing music? David and I met in high school and would be in and out of bands together ever since. David got into making beats, production and synthesizers. Skyler and I started off really young playing drums and guitar. We both came from musical families so it was only natural for us to get into music. David and I started CameraCult in 2014 I think. Skyler wouldn’t join the band until 2017. What new and exciting things can we expect from Camera Cult in 2019? Well we just dropped a new music video for our single “Location” from our TALKNICE EP. So now we want to drop more singles through out 2019 as well as more videos. Touring is also always on the agenda.
