  • Austin Riddle's New Release of "Finer" Is Giving Us All The Feels

Turn the lights down, stereo up (especially base), join in the company of a (consensual) partner and hit play on Austin Riddle’s new hot track "Finer". The track will set the mood to impress as it warmly engages its listeners with its sensuous ballad, but keeps you moving with its steady low frequency beat; romance is on full display. Riddle’s smooth and charming voice is reminiscent of the likes of Usher, Chris Brown, and Justin Timberlake- a perfect addition to the contemporary R&B genre. Just like in his track "Finer," Riddle aims to please and has immersed himself in creating music to be enjoyed by the masses. Actively developing his songwriting skills, Riddle is also a classically trained concert and jazz pianist who routinely collaborates with other R&B, rap and hip-hop musicians. "I'm just out here making music for myself, and sharing my journey with everyone else,” Riddle says. And we thank Riddle for sharing his music, because "Finer" really showed off this artists ability to attract an audience, and hold that attraction throughout the length of the track. Join Austin today and listen to "Finer," now streaming on Spotify. Don't forget to scroll down to check out this artists exclusive interview, where we're let in on his outlook on life, and how that resonates with his music! Hi Austin, it was a pleasure to listen to your new song, ‘Finer.’ What motivated you to write a song like that? This was actually a song I wrote the day before the birthday of someone very special to me. It's funny, I was actually sitting on this really funky beat I made that was intended for a less sentimental type of song. But, I was eager to finish the song for this person's birthday and came to find that these kind of heartfelt lyrics fit so well with such a funk-driven instrumental. What about the R&B genre is appealing to you? I'm obsessed with R&B because of the what it does to its listeners. In today's R&B, the genre is driven by a mix of pop and hip-hop. To me, its such a good outlet for anyone to dance to, sing along to, and to just feel. In every other genre, its either driven by the melody, the beat, the chords, or the lyrics. But being immersed into classical and jazz music my whole life, i'm obsessed with how you feel listening to music. And that's just what R&B is for me. You seem to have a very positive outlook on life, do you try to bring that into the music you create? Absolutely. I think that there's so much negativity in this world from the media and news outlets, which isn't something we don't already know.  I feel like my purpose is based on joy. Not to say that I don't go through hard times, but I think in order to not just survive but to really "live" life you have to have joy in as many circumstances as possible. I want my music to be something people can really appreciate, cherish, dance to, and just enjoy life with. I want my music to be a staple of just letting go and loving music and life. I truly believe that music is love and medicine, and I try every day to make music that follows that. What message do you want to get across to fans about yourself? I want people to know that I'm just a regular Italian kid from Birmingham that loves life. I'm obsessed with business and following a process. My goal is to perform at Madison Square Garden and I'm just following the process to get there. There's no rush at all. I just love the PROCESS. I want people to know that I'm compassionate. If I could talk to all my fans and help them with their problems I would in a heartbeat. What are you looking forward to working on next? I'm currently working on tons of merchandise that will be up on my website very soon I'm also looking forward to evolving with my music. I want to continue my journey and put out as much music as possible. I love my supporters and I will work to serve them every day. • FSG Rell Releases Fire Single Featuring Artist Dahlia

From a small town called Pottstown, Pennsylvania hails the rapper, the clothing ambassador and the young entrepreneur, FSG Rell. A well experienced rapper, FSG Rell has been in the game ever since the young age of 14, and his fans describes him as a unique artist with a gritty background and an up-tempo flow. With the ability to rap and sing on ANY type of beat or instrumental, FSG Rell is your new coming multifaceted icon who can potentially cross genres if he chose to.  His newest release titled “Fed Up” featuring Dahlia, is your perfect vibe song with a love-bop melody and relatable lyricism we can find ourselves connecting with. “Just me myself and I, I'm a ride or die, I'm my Bonnie and Clyde”. What I took from this verse by Dahlia is that she’s discussing her inner strength and independency she has. Dahlia's trendy and contemporary R&B sound helps set the aura for FSG Rell's “Fed Up”, reminding me of the likes of Queen Najia due to their similarities in curating hit melodic hooks. FSG Rell's witty verse comes in with scrumptious wordplay and a consistently fluent flow where he doesn’t miss a single beat. All the hype his community and fan base has built around FSG Rell most definitely proved to be accurate when he did nothing less than shock us with his exquisite caliber of rapping. Don't miss out on FSG Rell's "Fed Up" and add it to your Spotify playlist. Check out the artists personalized interview below where he shares the meaning behind his latest track, as well as the collaboration process with artist Dahlia! FSG Rell, great to chat with you! Do you recall the first song you ever written and what was it about? Thank you, it’s a pleasure to chat. Yes the first song I ever written was a remix to Usher & Ashanti’s song “My Boo”. I was writing about how I felt about a female , expressing my feelings to her trying to win her back. What encouraged you to collaborate with Dalilah on your latest single? What encouraged me to collaborate with Dahlia on this single was that I knew we were both from the same city(Pottstown,PA), recognized her talent, and her being a good all-around person is what made me collar with her. I’ve met her a couple times before we did this song and it was always good vibes so in my head, it was a no-brainer. I think the more people you work with the better. Tell us a little bit about this single “Fed Up” and what’s the meaning behind the song? Fed up is a collaboration between Dahlia and I. It’s a catchy, but meaningful song about a romance between a man and a woman. Dahlia sets the tone of the song describing a woman’s perspective being fed up with their man. Then I come in saying from the mans perspective how she doesn’t need to go anywhere and that being with me still will have many good times. Who wrote “Fed Up”? Did the both of you create your own verses? We both wrote our own lyrics, that’s something that we are both very proud of me. Creating your own lyrics help you put not only energy, but style into what you’re recording. Energy and style are two very important components in our song. What's next for FSG through 2019? What’s next for FSG is dropping fire songs as well as fire visuals, it’s time for FSG to take that next step and become mainstream. My manager, my team, and myself feel as if we have a great plan moving forward. That will propel us to bigger and better things. • Band Of The Day: Mile Twenty Four Release New Song "Falling"

Mile Twenty Four is an indie/alternative group from Nashville, Tennessee. The outfit began as a high school “Battle of the Bands” type group, and have now evolved into a group seeking to establish themselves in the music industry and develop a career. The band use a particular lyric from one of their songs as a mantra of sorts: “Love will never be replaced with Hate”. This lyric is meant to encapsulate the core beliefs of the band. This thoughtful group will soon be releasing an EP. BuzzMusic is thrilled to release Mile Twenty Four’s brand new single, “Falling”. Beginning with a sparse introduction with a catchy guitar hook, the song quickly allows the first verse to come through with a gradually building accompaniment from the rest of the band. This buildup continues through the second verse. When the chorus happens, it is with tremendous effect, with it’s with soaring vocals, a driving drumbeat, and a great hook. The lyrics are poetically and thoughtfully delivered with a tremendous vocal maturity. It’s clear from the sentimental single “Falling”, that we can expect great things from Mile Twenty Four in the future. Listen & add "Falling" to your favorite Spotify playlists here! Mile Twenty Four! Thanks for answering some of our questions. First of all, how did you all go from “Battle of the Bands” to the polished outfit you have today? What was the journey from high-school to present day? I think the journey was more mental than physical for us. Sure we grew in our craft, but the real change was our mindset. It went from something that was purely about fun, to a deep rooted passion we had to chase. Would you be able to describe your writing process? How do you go from ideas to fully-fledged songs? The writing process has typically been I (Wes) will write the bones of the song, and then the whole band will come together to turn it into what comes out on the record. However, we all tend to contribute ideas and inspiration. Nashville is obviously famous for it’s music scene, but how would you describe the way it is today? Nashville is something special. It still holds it's honky tonk country roots, but it has welcomed an assortment of genres to it's streets. Two of the four of us are what you would call  "Nashville Natives" (which is pretty much like finding a needle in a hay stack these days). We've seen our city change so much and it has been so inspiring to see it all unfold. “Falling” is your new single, is there anything you’d like to share about the meaning or message behind this song? "Falling" is like an old friend to us. It's been in our lives in the midst of so much change. We've had this song in our setlist for almost two years, and now it's finally joined our discography. The message is also very special to us because it's theme has always resonated with us. Adolescence. We're all very young guys who are very much still figuring it out. This song is basically about growing up and realizing how hard that simple fact of life is. Realizing you are not all you thought you were. That you're going to fail. But also realizing that life is NOTHING without the people you love. And that is where you find value and purpose for your life. In people. What does the future look like for Mile Twenty Four? Our hope for the future is to keep doing what we love. We hope more people will hear what we have to say. We want to play all around the world. And we hope to learn and grow through it all. • Gerry Smoot Comforts Your Mood With “A Flight To Somewhere”

If you’re a big fan of those smooth jazz tunes to get you through the day then we might have something in store for you! The instrumental record titled “Flight to Somewhere” by the talented instrumentalist, Gerry Smoot, knows how to smooth you through time with a comforting and relaxing voice-less jam! Some of the chords and notes were so intricately coordinated that it felt as if it was played in some sort of subtle swing-like motion. “A Flight To Somewhere” is your more than average combination of typical smooth-jazz elements mixed with easy-listening pop. “A Flight To Somewhere” shows a significant amount of different instrumentals from piano, to beautifully constructed synths on a keyboard. It’s such a delightful piece, to where you can listen to the record in order to ease out your current stress or any emotion you feel that is currently taking a toll over your mood! That’s the whole beauty of music that doesn’t contain vocals or lyrics, is that they can still fabricate a story in which you can become immensely captivated by. They do so in a way of imagination, just like “A Flight To Somewhere” ignites your creative process to curate a setting best fitting for you. Give a listen to Gerry's recent release "A Flight To Somewhere" here, and get to know the artists better through their exclusive interview below! Hi Gerry! Great to chat with you! Mind telling us a little bit about where you’re from and your upbringing? Well it's an honor to be talking to you guys at Buzz Music. This is the very first interview I've done outside my local area. LOL. Well I was born in Owensboro, KY. I've been blessed to have musical talent on my mother's and father's side. I'm currently living in the Indiana area at the moment where the music scene is a lot different. In the town that I live in currently, there's not a lot of exposure here, but there is a whole lot more exposure here than where I'm originated from. I started playing piano at the age of 2, drums at the age of 8 and bass at the age of 9. My musical background (like some musicians) started off in church. I really didn't start getting into jazz until after age 13 when I started to branch out a little bit and developed my own sound and worked more on my craft. “A Flight To Somewhere” is a beautiful song! In your opinion, how can listeners envision a storyline for this? Well thank you so much. I'm glad you liked that song. They way I have created the song was interesting. It started out as a simple tune that was going through my head. As I was recording what was in my head (which is what I do with a lot of my songs), I started envisioning like a movie scene where someone is saying goodbye, they need to leave town for awhile, but they will eventually return. When asked where are you going to go, the person of interest doesn't have any idea where he is going, so he says "A Flight To Somewhere", meaning when he gets to the airport, he just looks at the different options where he can go to get away from his hometown until he returns (if that makes sense). Do you find any challenges during the creative process of making songs without lyrics and vocals? Not at all. This is something that I do all of the time to express myself. I'm not much of a singer, so my instrument does all of the "singing" for me. Smooth Jazz and Gospel is my cup of tea since those are the major 2 genres I specialize in. But I have recorded other things that has lyrics from Country to Pop. So I'm not a stranger to other genres. I hope I didn't come off the subject to much. How would you personally describe your music style? My music style is very unique. I try not to sound like anybody else that's out there, even though I have a lot of musical influences from Jeff Lorber to Prince (and you will hear some of those elements in my music). There is a whole lot of influences that I admire musically, but then this answer would be extremely long as to who they are. What’s next for you Gerry! To keep making music as great as I can, no matter what. And I want to get my music to everyone as much as possible so I can become a household name in the Smooth Jazz world. I would love to start traveling to other places to do my music. I'm trying to work on that and book other places to play than where I'm living now. Even in good ol' LA. I need to make another visit there soon. Connect and keep up to date with Gerry Smoot via his social media: Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic

  • Rising Manchester Artist ppparmie Releases His New Hit "Slow Rider"

19 year old Manchester based artist, ppparmie (pronounced “parmie”) is a young rising star whose influences include the likes of John Mayer, Rex Orange County, Paolo Nutini, and Bruno Major. Incorporating these influences, ppparmie creates smooth and mellow sounds culminating in a versatile array of music and atmospheres. His arrangements feature unique instruments across multiple genres, making ppparmie an easy-listening young artist that is sure to make an impression. BuzzMusic is happy to release ppparmie’s brand new single, “Slow Rider”. Overall, this song is a good example of an easy-listening, groovy song. The guitar that opens this song sounds quite calming, and the vocals that follow shortly thereafter help to solidify this relaxing atmosphere. The verses and choruses blend together seamlessly which helps amount to a cohesive song. What makes this particular tune unique is the lower register of the vocals. In an era where so many men choose to sing in falsetto, this is a refreshing take on a modern sound. With the release of “Slow Rider”, we are excited to hear what else ppparmie is capable of! Listen to "Slow Rider" here and be sure to check out our exclusive interview with pparmie, get to know this young rising artist! #wehearditfirst Great to chat with you ppparmie! First of all, would you describe your background and how you got involved with music and songwriting? So I started by learning classical guitar up until grade 8 before I even really knew I wanted to do music and then just through watching performances and listening too music it just came naturally that that was what I wanted to pursue as a career. In terms of songwriting I started a few years ago with just a few small songs one which is in my recent EP called “ Everlost” and then didn’t really do much more up until last year when I really started to write again and record my songs through studio experience I have gained. You’re currently a resident of Manchester, is that your hometown? What is the music scene like there today? Yes Manchester is my hometown, the whole scene is very diverse and interesting as the spread of genres is increasing all the time. The genres range from Indie bands with sounds of Oasis too more modern and tech inspired bands, also the rap scene is also thriving slowly as well as the singer song writer scene I am in. You have a new single, “Slow Rider”. What is the message and meaning behind this song? Slow rider as a song was just about having fun with a track for once, as the other songs I have released are very personal and tell intricate stories that can be relatable. So it doesn’t really have a specific meaning or message its just an upbeat song that portrays more of a fun and making the music I want type of attitude. You use a lot of interesting instruments in your arrangements. As an artist, how would you describe your process of creating and arranging songs? My process always starts with my guitar where I will come up with a chord progression or a general idea that I want to work around, next I will write the lyrics as they come. Finally I record them into logic and then build more instruments such as drums, bass etc to make the song interesting throughout. I would like too be in a position where I can have a studio with a producer and many different instrumentalists so I can expand on my visions and create the music that reaches the potential I see as this is the biggest challenge I feel like I face at the moment. What's next for ppparmie through 2019? For me I would love to build my fan base strong and reach consistent high numbers on streaming sights as well as get a team together including management etc in order to give me opportunities to grow and show people what I have too offer. In addition I will be writing and recording new music and putting it onto streaming sights for people to listen to. Finally I want too start playing more official live shows around the UK and even outside even just as a support act as I think this would give me great experience as too what the life style is like and would also help me grow as at the end of the day I want my music too reach as many people as possible. • Harry Egan Delivers His Riveting Single “Temporary”

Harry Egan is a 20 year old singer and songwriter hailing from San Francisco, California. Harry writes and performs pop music with a little classical twist. Influenced by some of his biggest idols, including Jack Antonoff, Lorde and Hozier. Harry Egan creates music to make people feel a connection that makes them happier because of it. Harry Egan released his single titled “Temporary’ off his album “What I Learned” and it immediately begins with a progressive and melodic piano chord that helped set the foundation for the song. Harry Egan reminds me of vocalists like Sam Smith, who know how to send chills through your body with their moving voices. Harry Egan has a special voice where you can really hear it carry through a stadium. It makes you anticipate to hear him perform live due to the sensation he gives you. “Temporary” gave me a special unique feeling not many songs can give me and that’s not only due to the curated tune but Harry’s captivating vocal resonance that shakes you to your core due to the amount of skill and transitional dynamics his range is possessed with! Listen to Harry Egan's new album "What I Learned" here on Spotify. Harry where do you find most of your songwriting inspiration from? I find my songwriting inspiration from allowing myself to be unapologetically personal in my music. The actual song idea comes from the important moments in my life that change me. Those moments take up a lot energy and space in my head, and so when I start to write them down on paper or play it out on the piano, it feels therapeutic. When I’m completely honest in my music, it inspires me to continue to work on it, to stay up until 5am to find the right sound. I’m also someone who highly analyzes situations, and after a very emotional experience you can usually find me on a walk at 2am thinking about it, but when I come home I usually have the hook or the voice memo to work from. Tell us a little bit about “Temporary”  and the meaning behind the song? “Temporary” is an ode to my high school years. I spent a long time in high school dreaming of getting out and dreaming of becoming this “new person” in my head. When there were moments of losing love or losing time, I always saw it as only temporary because this was just one part of my life and it was all building blocks to becoming the person I was supposed to be. Looking back on that mindset and writing Temporary two years after I graduated taught me to stop and focus my energy on being in the present. I think being 16 and in high school, you are always going to dream bigger and there is something very exciting about that, because you have all this time to fantasize and daydream. All of the beautiful moments, emotional growing pains, and adolescent hope is in Temporary and it really encapsulates the four years of my teenage years that I never want to forget. I have a very positive and different mindset of life now, but I never want to forget those memories because they are always going to be important to me. Are you vocally trained? Or does this come natural for you? I am vocally trained but I didn’t start voice lessons at first. I started performing in musical theatre shows when I was in the fifth grade, and it brought this wonderful joy in my life. I couldn’t explain it, I just simply loved being on the stage performing. After that, my Mom offered to enroll me in voice lessons in San Francisco, and I started studying with Victor Cervantes and I am so grateful every day for that moment. I began by singing my favorite covers I would hear on the radio to school, and learned how to focus so much time on something you love. How would you describe your music style and aesthetic? I write music to make people smile. My songs usually come from a very sad place, but when I perform and record music I strive to turn it into a celebration that we can all smile to. Life is too short not to jump around and dance about your feelings. My songs have such a serious and emotional place in my heart, but I don’t want to make the music always feel that way, because there is such a beautiful joy in writing and creating music. I use sounds to create an energetic and electric feel when I perform, and that’s how my head feels when I write, there’s just a million thoughts going on at once and I want to tell you all about it. Tell us a little bit about your album “What I Learned”? “What I Learned” feels like a coming of age album, but I describe it as a “coming to terms” album. Writing this music was a very reflective time in my life, and it all started one night at the piano talking to my Mom about the music that I was writing. I’ve always believed that every moment in life can be special and that everyone experiences this, that’s what gives us all an identity. Every experience is important, whether it was positive or negative, because if you look for the lesson in those moments you can always learn from it. The heartbreak, happiness, loss, and love we all experience is what makes us who we are. Every song deals with the experiences that I learned from and what I believe have made me into who I am. From the high school drama of “Temporary”, my first love song in “Spent Too Much Time With Me”, or the late night thoughts that turned into “Somebody’s Listening”, these songs are from experiences that mean a lot to me. I released the album on my 20th birthday exactly for this reason. I wanted to release these stories when I turned 20 so that I could move on with my life, but never forget what made me who I am. What's next for you through 2019? I’m very excited for what’s coming in 2019. I’m currently in the process of recording my second album, recording each night and constantly working to make these songs truly reflect my story. I have two new singles from the album coming out in May, the first entitled “Effect Me” and the second track called “I Know”. Both of these songs feel like a new journey into my musical identity, and it really excites me to work on the album. I’ve also been collaborating and co-writing with singer/songwriters and artists for their own music, and those songs are coming out this year. I’ve found such a love for songwriting and everyday this year I’ve been writing more and it feels like a very new and exciting time in my life. • Feel Pure Emotion From Avalon Kali's New Single "Looking Back on You"

Everyone has trudged through the pain of a break up. The memories, the constant reminders that person is no longer in your life, it haunts you. ‘Looking Back on You’ is set to a beautiful, haunting melody that floats you above the ache of your broken heart. The acoustic guitar strums warm and simple cords, and a soft country twang set in the back ground will have you longing for home. Avalon Kalis’s voice rises you up above the heart ache; a powerful full bodied voice, she hits the high notes with power and nails the lows in a poignant and sultry pitch. A California native, Avalon Kali uprooted and is currently immersed in Nashville life, working with fellow songwriters and artists, playing writer’s rounds and venues across the city honing her country music artistry. She has graced the stage alongside Jordan Davis, Love and Theft, Maggie rose and other incredible country artists. Her first self-titled EP ‘Avalon Kali’, was released in 2017 and single ‘Speechless’ delivering up-tempo country pop rhythms. ‘Looking Back on You,’ Kali’s latest single is out now and available for streaming! Don’t miss out on this talented artist! Listen to "Looking Back on You" here! How do you feel living in Nashville has influenced your music? Living in Nashville has influenced my development as an independent artist and songwriter by being surrounded by so many talented people all the time.  Almost everywhere to go there is live music and most of the time, it is Country. I've always been a fan of Country music, but living in the heart of  music city has definitely made my writing and style of music into what is is now. Is there anyone in country music you are dying to collaborate with? I would love to collaborate with Old Dominion. Not only are they an amazing band but also very talented songwriters. Their last album, "Happy Endings," has so many incredible songs that while listening through the album when it first came out, I kept thinking to myself "wow, I wish I wrote that song" or "that was a great song idea." Their vibe is similar to mine and I would love create a duet or set up a writing session with the band. That would be a dream come true. What made you want to get into the country music scene? Folsom, California is a lot more country than you would think. When you think of California, a lot of people immediately think of palm trees, beaches, and pop music. Growing up I was surrounded by farmland and listened to a lot of the legendary Johnny Cash and my idol, Shania Twain. I would sing in front of the mirror to her hits almost everyday. Singer/songwriter, James Taylor, was the artist who inspired me to start writing my own music when I was 12 years old. How do you prepare yourself to sing an emotional song like ‘Looking Back On You’? It really isn't a hard song for me to sing. Yes, it is filled with a lot of emotion and there is definite hurt in specific lines, but since it is a breakup song that is hopeful and almost nostalgic, I feel thankful to have had a past relationship that I can look back on with only good feelings. I hope that people can hear this song and think of someone in their life who they were grateful to have. What’s next for you through 2019? 2019 will be filled with more new music coming out throughout the next couple of months and more live shows around Nashville, Tennessee. • Antoinette Will Hook You In With Her Infectious New Single "Breathe"

Antoinette is what we would describe as an “indie pop diamond in the rough.” Searching for her sound and cultivating her own style she has found her happy place in the world of atmospheric textures and hooky melodies. A dynamic singer with expressive lyrics, Antoinette’s music is melody driven and infectious. Who doesn’t love memorable music we find ourselves engrossed by? Antoinette releases the irresistible and contagious single “Breathe” that took us by surprise due to how the transitions in dynamics were so smooth! “Breathe” goes through three different phases throughout the song we appreciate. It begins subtle, melodic, and simply caressing us with the soothing voice from Antoinette. It then transitions into a small moment of sass, fierce and the light twang in Antoinettes' voice. It gives us an element of electricity with a rapid fast tempo energy to completely lighten the mood and pop the bubble around “Breathe” that makes us feel like we’re being surrounded by an energy of sensitive emotions. What we interpreted from the entire record from the beat to the chronological order of verses and dynamics is that once you get completely excited by the song, all you have to do is relax and breathe. Antoinette strategic ability to convey a multifaceted hit record will carry her extremely far. Listen to "Breathe" here and learn more about Antoinette in our exclusive interview below! Antoinette, it's great to chat with you! What inspired you to begin writing music? I’ve always loved to sing and would make up melodies in my head all the time when I was a kid. As I got older it became the way I processed and expressed my emotions. I don’t really know how I really feel about something until I write a song about it. You’re such a compelling songwriter. Is there an ongoing message behind each song you write? Totally. Sometimes it’s a simple message or just trying to sum up a feeling. And sometimes, as with Breathe, the song is a more simple way to discuss something complicated. What’s the meaning behind “Breathe”? Breathe is about the doubt and insecurities we all cope with on the daily. How just when you think things are going your way life knocks you down and makes you question everything. But it’s also an optimistic song because we all face these challenges and if we keep pushing forward amazing things can happen. What was the best part of the recording process for “Breathe”, did you face any challenges along the way? I recorded Breathe at Monarch Studios with Juno-nominated Producer Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas.) Working with Tom was amazing and he really brought the song to life. We changed the song around quite a bit during pre-pro and it ended up I needed to write a new pre-chorus within a day. I hadn’t been used to writing under such a time crunch so that was definitely a challenge. I couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out though! In your opinion, who do you think your music caters too? I think my music probably caters most to people my age due to the fact I write a lot about experiences quite common with twenty-somethings (what am I doing with my life, heartbreak, love, heartbreak again etc.) But by the same token I feel like no matter where you are in life you can relate to these topics, especially heartbreak. It’s the great equalizer! What’s next for you through 2019? 2019 has a lot of exciting things coming up! I’ll be finishing up my EP in April at Monarch Studios (release date TBD but Summer 2019 is a safe bet!) In the meantime I’ll be releasing the 2nd single off the EP in April along with a music video! My band and I will be playing throughout Vancouver lots over the months so check out my website for updates. Connect with Antoinette on social media: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic

I say growing up I would always listen to a lot of rock music. I think my dad had a lot of influence in me listening to a lot of rock music. I would listen to bands like Linkin Park, Saliva, Limp Bizkit, the Foo Fighters, etc. After listening to a lot of more modern rock music, I started discovering more classic rock and all those 80s hair bands. I would pretend i was the lead singer of one of those bands and rock out in front of the mirror ( I'm sure like a lot of us did growing up ). My aunt as a concert pianist and my mom as a singer had a big influence on me as well. But rock music is where my roots in music come from, And that helped me explore all other genres....like 80s pop!. My love for 80s pop is the reason i'm working to form my sound around that era! Are you originally from Portland? How would you describe the music scene there? Born and raised in Portland! I'm not 100% sure if i'll stay here forever but i love living here at the moment. From my personal view point, the 2 big scenes in Portland are more Folk/Indie music....and Rap music. Which is great! Except both of those genres wouldn't be in the realm of what i'm making, and that's okay! Gives me more room to carve out my own lane. It's clear from your new single, “Cash”, that you understand the sounds of the 80s. Are there artists from that time period in particular that you draw inspiration from? I appreciate that! I'm happy you got 80s vibes from my single. Means my vision was received well! I draw inspiration from way too many artists in that time period to list right now, but the top 3 songs that really inspired my song Cash are "Everything She Wants" by Wham! , "Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley, and from a modern retro band "Love it if we made it" by The 1975. Given that you are both a musician and producer, what does your writing process generally look like? My writing process usually starts with the music....99% of the time. Usually it's late night when my inspiration comes! I'll sit down around 11:00pm and then what seems like only minutes later..I'll look at the clock and its 2:00am haha. After the music is good then I write lyrics...record..mix..master...etc. There's no one right way to start a song, so whatever you prefer! It's all about bigger picture...If the song is a good song! ..not how it's made. What does the future have in store for Daryl Smith? 2019 will be all about releasing singles and building my brand, I want to play live later this year and possibly an album! 2019 is all about gaining momentum and building traction for me though, and helping out other people! Growing up in a surftown and knowing that surfing is one of your many hobbies, has it impacted the kind of music you make in any way? I don’t really feel like surfing as influenced my music however is something that helps me find a sense of calm which can place me into the right head space to be creative and write songs. As I do find sometimes I get writers block and need to move away from the work and come back to it. What inspired you to write “Take 5” ? Take 5 is song that explores the breakdown of relationships and the need to create a space in order for healing and repair to occur. This idea of “Taking 5” I also extend to the importance of learning to be able to pause in life. I believe that we all must learn to be able to stop and meditate and take time to appreciate things around us in order to work towards being truly who we are meant to be. Did you produce the track as well? Or just recorded? I produce all my own music and then get it mixed by Jean Gallows. Speaking of the production of “Take 5”, was everything live instrumentals!? Or was this smooth-sailing beat curated by typical production computers!? Everything was recorded using live instruments except the drums. However I hope to purchase some drums mikes so I can get the real sounds happening throughout my music. Where do you see your career in a year? Releasing songs every couple of months and maybe working towards an EP by the end of the year. But for now I’m going to continue to enjoy the writing process and see it what happens when I make room for that!! Im very excited to see what 2019 will bring for my music.
