How would you describe your signature sound? My signature sound is aggressive but also some what melodic. It’s evolving everyday sometimes I surprise myself. What prompted you at such a young age to be a rap artist? My daddy was a rapper and my step father was into music as well. My dad got locked up when I was young so my step father was most active in my life. I would just watch him and it was amazing to me the passion that went into it and how happy it made people. I would always wanna impress him so I would make lil raps then rap em to him, hoping he would put me on a song with him or record me. I always felt like I was a really powerful rapper and I wanted to be powerful. music is power. How did you get into sound engineering? Around the age of 8 is when my step father got involved in my life. He was a producer, engineer and a rapper. He would let me sit in with him while he worked or I’d clean up and after he died I just kept working wit it and teaching myself. I feel like he’s still watching me with everything I do. So it’s like I’m still tryna make him proud. What does “No Comin Back” mean to you? “No Comin Back” means I’m not goin back to what broke me mentally. it’s a reminder to my self to stay focus out here. What influenced you to write this song? I made “No Comin’ Back” when I was in a transition in life. I was goin through depression, I was hanging wit the wrong crowd entertaining the wrong women, and I just kept gettin hurt and fucked over. A lot of negativity was surrounding me and one night my daddy called me and basically was tellin me tighten up out there. You got way too many friends, you got way to much goin on and that ain’t even you. Get yo mind right you a boss. He gave me some Free Game and I decided to share it. Favorite lyric from the song? “When you speak, speak with purpose” why? Because it’s a reminder that everything I think, say, and do has a manifestation behind it. What can we expect from you through 2019? I got a lot of dope music coming in 2019, a lot of dope visuals, a variety of different sounds and so much more. I’m excited. - Keido Bond Delivers Meaningful New Single "Impact"
Keido Bond is an upcoming artist whos music challenges him to open up about his bipolar disorder with an intention of helping others who are going through similar situations. Keido Bond's music primarily focuses on the subject of mental health while having lyrics and themes that covers most of his life until this point of time. Keido Bond’s latest track “Impact” brings us an insightful look at mental illness in the form of a theatrical rap track with beautiful imagery. Bond raps soulfully through every verse allowing the listener to feel every throbbing pain that he goes through while living with a mental illness. The instrumental have a strong bass sound to them increasing the intensity of the song. We also see the biracial cross of Keido being half English and Japanese. The angst and severity of emotion is similar to Joji especially with his bluntness of lyrics that hit you suddenly. “Straight jacket, they say they need that”, is just one lyric that shows Keido not only acknowledging the stigma that comes with mental illness. “This Isn’t Me”, this lyric alone will give you chills because of the raw emotion that you hear in his voice. Certainly a successful and upcoming artist that will bring more than just music to people, but art and awareness of an important issue. Listen to "Impact" here. - Coming Hard and Heavy FEENYX’s “3rd & Bream”
Formerly Beatty but now going by Feenyx. Like the actual sunbird, he recreated himself and and now he's on fire. Feenyx grew up in the Church where his Mom was an Apostle and his Dad was a Basketball Legend in the city, so it’s easy to assume he had the pressure on him. He transformed from a typical rapper in the pool of artists in Atlanta, to one of the brightest and exciting artists in the whole city. This project has been long awaited from his hometown of Charleston, WV. Since moving to Atlanta, he's stepped out of the shoes of expectations and created Feenyx and now it is really paying off for him. Now he's in Atlanta, running the streets with Freebandz, which is Future's Record Label and Feenyx plans on telling his story and won’t stop until he's captured his well deserved spot in hip hop. Sharing with us today his latest release "3rd & Bream". Dayyyyyum! This track definitely has that Atlanta influence. I want to point out the name of the song, "3rd & Bream". I assume it's a hometown street crossing or an area he was in a lot. Either way it is really catchy. As far as the song itself I love the production. There is something about the small things in tracks that I catch and this one is this faint bell that makes a bling sound and I live for it! This track has that trap/hip-hop bounce that is definitely one that I am sure is or could be in heavy rotation on the radio and in clubs. Lyricism is on point showing his word play and ability to play around the beat. This track is definitely on the way up if it hasn't gotten there already! Listen to "3rd & Bream" here. - Killerkrazie Releases "L.O.V.E Thot"
Killerkrazie is a producer and artist currently living in Washington D.C who has his own idiosyncratic style and sound that’s personable to him. His release “L.O.V.E Thot” is a sound I have never heard prior to listening this single. It’s highly unique and atypical from any other type of music I’ve heard before. The lyrics are super witty and catchy and I can see people repeating the words over and over as it has that memorable effect that could get embedded in our brains for the moment. I think it’s the psychedelic nature this song has although it isn’t categorized as a rock record. You can become immersed into the music and lose a sense of reality, allowing your imaginative thoughts to flow and to fabricate a setting and environment that you feel best fits the aura of the music. This is a type of song where you can kick back, relax and have a “smoke sesh” with your friends due to the natural high it gives. Killerkrazie is an interesting artist who knows the meaning behind the art in artist and we’re excited to see more of his releases! Listen to "L.O.V.E Thot" here, and get to know Killerkrazie through our interview questions below! What inspired you to call yourself Killerkrazie? What’s the meaning behind the name? This question has a funny back story. I came up with this name back when I was in the 8th grade in a computer math class. How it came about was from a mix of Bone Thugs in Harmony and Killer Mike (Who was at his peak at the time). My dad always listen to Rap and Jazz Music as I was growing up. His favorite artist was Tupac He also loved Westside Connect Gang and Too Short. So when I started to go out and buy my own music the first CD I bought was Bizzy Bone which was my personal first favorite artist. I liked his flow and delivery and it seemed like even though he and the group were from Cleveland they still had a West Coast sound and vibe. From there I learned about the rest of Bone Thugs and I took the Krazie from Krayzie Bone and mixed it with Killer Mike and thats how I got KillerKrazie. I thought KillerBizzy didn't flow well. But now when asked about Killerkrazie I say it's because I kill beatz and my life is crazy. How would you artistically interpret your single “L.O.V.E Thot” for our listeners? I actually produced, wrote, and recorded this song in my apartment. The interpretation of L.O.V.E Thot is a confession of a person who has multiple love interest and cannot hide it from the ones who are not in contact with each other. Those people are assumed to believe that they already know about the others. I think it fits well in todays time where there is so many forms of communication that it's assumed the person you are talking to is talking to other people while they are talking to you. Do you have any specific music influences? Bizzy Bone, Ab-Soul, Three-Six Mafia, The Weeknd, Logic, The Game, Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Odd Future, ALL OF T.D.E (Top Dawg Ent.), Tupac, Westside Connect Gang, SPM (South Park Mexican) And Freddie Gibbs are like the beginning of my all time favorite artist, The list goes on from there. How long have you been producing? How much work is required to produce an efficient record? I've been prodcuing my own beats since 2016 and I since started my own beat publishing under Krazie Beatz. I would say the production time comes with your level of skill. As I am getting better with producing it would prob only take me 1-2hrs max to make the beat another 1-2hrs to mix the beat and if I'm really feeling the beat I can come up with lyrics to it on the spot while making the beat then hop right on the MIC and record the song. If you can collaborate with any other recording artist out right now who would you select and why? Ab-soul and Bizzy Bone because those two artist are Dope as Fuck lol. - Damian Sage Releases The Gritty Record “Cold Blood”
Damian Sage released his single titled “Cold Blood”, the badass record with lots of twang and southern grit mixed with edgy rock n roll elements. “Cold Blood” begins with electrifying guitar chords before Damian’s solid voice material elevates you into the music. The raspy rough material around a solid foundation to deliver a charming tone could be the adjective to describe the voice of Damian. Based out of Los Angeles, and a native of New York, Damian is influenced by his personal experience and it’s the reason why his music is so propelling due to its authenticity and rawness behind it. His inversive lyricism and catchy hook is going to draw listeners in no doubt. My favorite part about the song is the hook due to the melody. I like how tinted the canorous sound of the vocals sound. However, my second favorite component of “Cold Blood” is the delinquency the lyrics holds. You can tell by listening that Damian Sage is careless and stays true to his bonafide character and it’s highly noticeable in the music he puts out. “Cold Blood” by Damian transformed me into a new fan of his and I’m anticipating his next release! Listen to "Cold Blood" here, and learn more about Damian in our interview below! Between both of your environments Los Angeles and New York, which has been your personal favorite place to reside in and why? That’s a tough question, they are so different. I love the energy of New York. I love the directness of people there, and the friends I have in NY are lifelong. Because I grew up there it will always be special to me. Los Angeles has been great in a lot of ways. One, as a kid in New York, I always dreamed of moving to Los Angeles. Some of my favorite artists got their start here. If I hadn’t moved to LA, I would have never met my manager, Vicky Hamilton. There’s a great community of musicians here that support one another. We attend each other’s shows, and I have made some good friends along the way. I guess I can’t pick a favorite, both have their own qualities. How would you personally describe your music style? I’d say contemporary alternative rock by a singer/songwriter. I tend to be on the darker side. I write about things I’ve gone through for the most part, or things I notice and think about. I’m real if nothing else. “Cold Blood” is an amazing song! What was your inspiration behind it? Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’ve battled depression my whole life. Addiction for parts as well. I had that first line of the verse in my head for months before completing the song. I know a lot of other people go through these things as well, and I wanted to write it in a way that people know they aren’t alone. Sometimes with depression and addiction, all you feel is that you’re alone. These things can be a daily battle, but a battle that can be won, never give up. Have you had the chance to perform live yet? If so, what’s your favorite moment about it? I’ve performed live since I was a young teen. Whether in bands, or solo. I love performing. The feeling you get when connecting with a live audience is like nothing else. How do you plan on elevating your next single from this one? There’s a couple songs in the running. Each are about a different topic. The one I have in mind is about a lot of the things going on in our world. From violence to hypocrisy, to this wave of anger and negativity. All you do have to do is look in any comment section. I don’t feel it’s helping anything. Nothing positive gets accomplished by putting each other down. - Call It Out! Releases "Atlantic Dreams"
Based in Toronto and female fronted band, “Call It Out!” combines classic rock with pop punk music. The band was formed by singer Onicka Waithe and lead guitarist Brandon Augustine in 2018. Later adding to the band Alec Warden on drums and chelsea Rothman on bass. Their single “Atlantic Dreams” has a very catchy chorus and is a slight throwback to the OG of the punk rock era while keeping the sound modern and unique. Pulsating rhythm guitar and upbeat drums start off the song alluding to the running vocals of Onicka. The chorus is easily recognizable to the ear when it starts at , “And I just wanna see the world..”. and will probably lead to a good ear worm for the rest of your week. The instrumental break makes way for a buildup while providing awesome arpeggiated guitar solos going on longer than anticipated which gets you ready for the final chorus that will for sure have you singing or blasting the song in your car with friends. The musicians talents all come together all of them showcasing each other and creating a solid sound for their listeners. The band is a perfect blend of bright yet gritty guitar hooks, concoction of 90’s rock nostalgia while incorporating modern rock seamlessly. Listen to “Atlantic Dreams” here, and learn more about Call It Out! in our interview below! What prompted you to start a band when you did? I was introduced to music at a young age by my father, he was such a passionate musician and really influenced my interest. The violin was the first instrument I ever learned at the age of 10 and I never looked back. I taught myself the guitar throughout high school and even went to Rock Camp where I met some amazing musicians. After school ended, I tried doing regular jobs but I found myself constantly returning to music. I realized that the only time I ever felt fulfilled was when I was writing and making music. So I went online and started looking for like minded people. The rest is history, Call It Out! finally formed in August 2018. How do you see yourself (the band) progressing as artists? We're still so new to the scene that there really isn't anywhere to go but up from here. We've already made so much progress in just a few months, from our first rehearsal to our first show. I believe that we bring a really unique and genuine sound to the current music scene. That all stems from our great group chemistry and I can't wait to see how we're all going to grow together as artists. It's only a matter of time before we take the world by storm. Is it a combined collaboration when writing lyrics? I (Onicka) tend to write the lyrics by myself. It's a sensitive process as I usually write from a vulnerable place close to my heart, so I usually like to be alone. Once I have an Idea of the shell of the song I'll send it to Brandon for his feedback and insight. What/who are your inspirations for your sound? It's funny because as a band we have so many different influences. However, I would say our sound is mainly inspired by bands like Paramore, Billy Talent, State Champs, Stand Atlantic and Fall Out Boy. How has being a band changed your life? I feel like I have a whole new family. Our fans don't really get to see much of the behind the scenes but we've become more than just a group of musicians. We're close friends and we get to spend our time doing what we love surrounded by amazing and inspiring people. Connect with Call It Out!: Instagram Facebook #BuzzMusic
- The Hunter & The Potter Releases “High Noon (Live)"
Here's a sneak peek into the life of progressive hard rockers The Hunter & The Potter straight out of Vancouver's lush but formidable landscape. "High Noon" -- at least the live take on it -- starts out as if a band rehearsal and progresses to raucous jam amongst friends. These guys are likely not so focused on existential crises, more just ready to rock your face off. But that’s not to say they won’t build up to it, you know, progressively. The instruments have this post-melancholic banter back and forth. I was thinking about getting a snazzy new hair cut later today, but I’m glad I listened to this song first. These guys have plenty of shag to go around, in both hair, beards and music. Vocals come through a bit muffled / muted and little slips aren't auto-tuned over. These guys are relatively new, having formed back in 2015 and it seems like they've made a lot of progress. A very cohesive bunch. There’s no reason to think stoner rock would be a pejorative when applied to the crew. They deliver eminently infectious riffs with a head-shaking sense of self-confidence. Listen to "High Noon (Live)" here, and learn more about The Hunter & The Potter in our interview below! How do you think the environment of Vancouver has influenced your songwriting? We live in a beautiful corner of the world so a certain level of outdoors time contributes to us. For example going to one of the beaches with an acoustic guitar to jam and song write. I do think the stress of living in a major city as well as such a rainy and expensive one, contributed heavily to the tension in some of our music. One thing is most people don't think of QOTSA style rock riffs and hard rock coming out of such a nice place like Vancouver. What is the perfect place to hear The Hunter & The Potter to get full effect? The best place to hear us is live, and our upcoming shows are at The Bourbon in Vancouver (Feb 23rd) and The Blind Beggar in Calgary( March 17th). If you can't make it to our shows we are available on most streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music YouTube and Deezer. When we aren't on stage there you can find us across town in East Vancouver in our cozy rehearsal space working on our sets and writing new tunes. Is there a process to make sure everyone is contributing to writing songs, or are there specific people who take the lead? From the beginning of writing Innocent Guns, it was only Max and Sean (forming members) in the rehearsal space trading riffs back and forth. All the music and lyrics for the album was done by the time Rildney (drums) and Sam (bass) joined the band. The challenge for them was to play the parts as they were written and also add their own style into the playing. Both were very patient in that process. We have 3 new songs written and now the creative door is wide open for song writing and ideas. We have discovered each members strengths and what they bring. Whether its Max or Sam's vocals that fit just right, Rildney's keen ear for what will make a part catchier or Sean's rock riffs, it all adds up. Finally, it has to work for everybody before we move on or complete a song. Any band goals for 2019? Yes, we have our eye set on some summer festivals and starting in March we will be branching out from the lower mainland and exploring eastern BC and Alberta for performing live. We also will be releasing 2 new EP's by the end of the year! Lots coming soon. What are some of your biggest progressive rock influences? Opeth, Mastodon, Dream Theater, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Supertramp to name a few! Connect with The Hunter & The Potter: Instagram Facebook Twitter #BuzzMusic

Her voice is so different and it adds another flavor into this song. You can dance to this alone, in a group, in the shower, in the mirror, cleaning up, working out you name it. Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hey good people, its your girl Namiwa Jazz! I am an international singer songwriter and composer from Birmingham, UK. I'm currently touring at venues and festivals with my band around the UK and Europe. Can you give us a brief history of your musical career? I started gigging on the UK music scene in 2014 with my AFROTWANG band. I produced my 1st EP 'My Garden of Eden' and headlined my EP launch selling over 200 tickets to local fans. It was this year that I found my sound AFROTWANG and received my first BBC Radio 1 & BBC 1Xtra play from Huw Stevens and DJ Trevor Nelson. Since summer 2014, I have been blessed with opportunities to support artists like Public Enemy, Brian Jackson, Teedra Moses, Amariie, Jimmy Cliff and The Floacist (Floetry). I have since self released my second body of work 360 on Love EP and self released my single Namaste produced by Duplex and Matter of Fact produced by Mellow Deep. I made my international debut in 2018 playing 3 gigs at New Skool Rules, the biggest International Urban Music Conference and Festival with my live band and will be back this May (2019) to showcase with my live band. Towards the end of 2018, I elevated my live band sound with a brass trio for the very first time, launching at the Hare and Hounds music venue, one of Birmingham most loved music venues. I am currently recording with my band and touring around the UK playing awesome venues like The Birmingham Jamhouse and Hootananny in Brixton, London. I am currently supported by platforms like Birmingham Music Awards, BBC West Midlands and BBC Introducing. How did you choose your stage name? I feel as if my name chose me, Namiwa Jazz is me, I am her. Do you write your own music? I write all my songs and work closely with my band to create my unique sound AFROTWANG. Over the last few years I have collaborated with other artists to write passion songs for them in different genres like, Electronic, Drum and Bass, R&B and Hip hop. Can you tell us a bit about your writing style? I approach writing music with feelings first. Depending on the vibe of the instrumental, mood and or concept of the song my approach differs. For songs I have written and released to date, my writing process has been intimate and mostly done alone, then I bring the lyrics to my band or producer and build up the sound. I imagine the sound and then make it happen based on my vision or idea for the composition. My sound AFROTWANG is unique to me, its a fusion of my favourite genres of music: Soul, Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggae music. Working with a live band allows me to flow effortlessly between genres and lift my spirit, sound and lyrics to the place they need to be. Your new single "Matter Of Fact" is beautiful. Your jazzy sound is so addictive! Can you tell us a bit about creating the song? Matter of Fact is written by myself and produced by Mellow Deep. We have a good energy in the studio together, we were originally connected through a mutual friend, so our approach making the single was really organic. The official music video was directed by myself, I worked with a small team of creatives from Birmingham including international choreographer Mathew Lambden to visually represent the message and meaning of the song. I wanted this visual to be full with a 'Matter of Fact' attitude. I absolutely love videography and have either directed or co-directed all of my music videos to date. I am a hands on artist and love every part of making music from writing in the studio to impatiently waiting to hear the final masters, to sitting with the editors for the video. Where did the inspiration behind the song come from? Yeah, Matter of Fact, it's in the name. This song is definitely a self affirming anthem. I'd say the hook and post hook bring the message home. "Matter of Fact and done. Matter of Fact I know I'm someone. Na badda with uncertain. Matter of Fact I know I'm chosen. Gwarn give them a run. Go and get them I'll over turn them. You can't touch my front. Go and get them I'll under 10 them." When I wrote this I was feeling frustrated with the complexities of friendship and sisterhood and felt at the time the music was the only friend I had to express this to. I hope that other young women and girls can relate to this song and my overall message, which is, know how you are and don't allow people to walk all over you no matter who they are. I want to inspire people from all walks of life with my music but most importantly I want to encourage women and girls to stand up in their power and work it. Coming from a jazz background, who are some major influences in music who have helped shape your career in the music industry? There are so many, but so I don't make this list as long as the interview, It's only fair to brake it down like this: Child hood: That's so raven, Mistque, Shuga babes USA: Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, Nina Simone, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani UK: Laura Mvula, Joan Armatrading, Jools Holland, Macy Grey, Gabriel Emergeing UK acts: Cherri V, Hamza, Etta bond Gospel: Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Israel What’s next for Namiwa? I feel so blessed to have a community that support me and fans that show me genuine love at shows. This year I have more original Afrotwang music to release and more gig dates to announce! I am working on a new live band orchestra project that will be released in good time. I hope the USA is ready for me! I will be residing in North Hollywood for the whole month of August and plan to make as many connections as possible whilst I'm out there. Before that I'll be in NYC in March exploring the city and going to as many live gigs as possible and back in Rotterdam for New Skool Rules in May. So what's next....
