- Sir Maximus Esquire Takes Us On A Spoken Word Journey On New Releases “Dawn” And “I Understand”
Skillfully blurring the line between poetry, storytelling, and music, Sir Maximus Esquire emerged from the depths of Starkville, Mississippi, and quickly captivated audiences with his profound lyrical prowess. Hailing from the prestigious label Metok Music, the experienced poet prioritizes his craft above everything else, spending decades shaping and defining his style during his time as a wordsmith. Now ready to take his career further, his latest project, “A Marvelous Adventure,” promises to unveil a new dimension to his already-established artistic brilliance. A seasoned poet, Esquire recently ventured into the realm of live performances, mesmerizing audiences with his spoken-word compositions. Now based in Huntsville, Alabama, he’s continued to establish himself off the back of his exceptional lyricism and charisma, and he’s already become a respected figure in the vibrant local poetry scene as well. His new release “A Marvelous Adventure” marks a stylistic change in direction from Esquire’s previous endeavors. Still, while his previous projects were classics in their own right, “A Marvelous Adventure” further showcases Esquire’s unfiltered storytelling abilities, inviting listeners on a captivating journey through the depths of his artistic mind. Within the intricate web of “A Marvelous Adventure,” Sir Maximus Esquire masterfully weaves together the fabric of spoken word and poetry. “Dawn” and “I Understand,” two heralds of the good things to come on Esquire’s “A Marvelous Adventure,” see him flex his creative muscles in different yet equally thought-provoking ways. “Dawn” sees Esquire perform over a sinister beat with sirens in the background, and as the beat marches to what feels like a frantic conclusion, Esquire grounds us. Spitting rhymes like “Ode to the ole dark, o so dark no spark because blown fuses are a nuisance / but the light doesn’t always provide a fix for lack of bliss,” Esquire masterfully guides the beat to a conclusion. In an interesting contrast, the instrumentals for “I Understand” are a little more based and less frantic. However, there is still the feeling that the beat and Esquire himself march on, heading towards a marvellous destination we can’t see yet. Dropping lines like “So, why do these tocks feel as parasitically draining as the ticks / The motions can make the strongest feel sick,” “I Understand” feels like an expansive musical world within which endless possibilities exist. As a scratch sample closes the beat off, you feel Esquire has completed some substantial introspection. Maybe that’s why he keeps getting better and better. With his profound mastery of lyricism honed through years of practice, Sir Maximus Esquire’s “A Marvelous Adventure” promises to be an expansive and alluring performance of music and lyricism. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream “Dawn” and “I Understand,” available now on all major streaming platforms, and keep an eye out for “A Marvelous Adventure,” out soon. Welcome To BuzzMusic, Sir Maximus Esquire! We loved “Dawn” and “I Understand.” Could you take us through your creative processes for these pieces? I came up with the idea for "Dawn" while watching the movie "Donnie Darko". At times in my life, I have felt like Frank the Rabbit in the sense that I have been the person who attempts to be a guide of sorts when it wasn't my place to do so, but I have also played the role of Donnie as well in that I had people try to guide me even though sometimes it all fell on deaf ears. The whole thing is about trying to guide someone or be guided by someone else to learn lessons from your own experiences of trial and error in the end. The piece "I Understand" is the closing piece of my project "A Marvelous Adventure." The idea of the album is to describe a journey through life; so with "I Understand" being the last piece, I wanted it to sum up the reflections of one's own life and use a clock as a metaphor for life throughout the piece. You mentioned you’re a well-established poet, which you’ve been passionate about for a long time. What drew you to poetry as an artistic medium in the first place, and what’s your favorite thing about it? What I always loved about poetry is how it can do many things. A good poem can be a puzzle; it can be interpreted in different ways, invoke emotion, and paint an image. Being able to create something that can do so much is my main reason for choosing this as my artistic medium. How does your poetry interact with music, and what do you think the best thing about combining spoken word poetry and music is? It brings a poem to life more and adds a certain element that helps express the piece's tone. I feel this way about many songs that I have listened to, like "Tunnel Vision" by Kae Tempest which is already an amazing piece, but with music, it is incredible. What do you think is the most important characteristic for an artist to have? The drive to create something beautiful that the world will always remember. Instagram Facebook
- Sean Mo Shows Off His Vibrant Charisma And Mic Skills On His “Just Wanna Rock” Freestyle
The Chicago native shows he’s primed and ready to make big splashes in the scene. Hailing from the streets of Chicago, IL, Sean Mo’s long been exposed to a vibrant and lively musical community. Highly motivated and hungry for success, he’s separated himself from many of his peers because of his willingness to put the work in and effortless charisma that listeners can’t help but enjoy. Now with his gaze firmly on the future, Sean Mo is ready to make waves and leave his mark on the highly competitive hip-hop genre. Mo credits the emergence of drill in 2013 for his decision to start taking rap seriously, although he notes that music has always been in his blood. He’s a natural storyteller, combining sharp punchlines with charisma and wit, making you feel like he’s having fun with it. Although the drill wave may have given him the push he needed to start, Mo refuses to let himself be put in a box. He’s not a drill rapper and prefers to show off his versatility by bringing his visions and life experience to life in music that he routinely manages to connect with his fans. Mo’s “I Just Wanna Rock” freestyle, in many ways, embodies his approach to music. Over the now iconic Jersey club beat Mo effortlessly weaves through the beat with the composure of a veteran. Dropping lines like “I told Shawty I just wanna rock, she thought I meant Chrisean” and “By now you all should know my life a fucking movie / I have you dancing up on cars like Lil Boosie,” Mo shows off his ability to draw you into his world and bring you to his pace before awing you with sharp bars. It’s a perfect testament to his ability to have fun while ensuring his listeners also have fun. Sean Mo’s “I Just Wanna Rock” freestyle is a fun and thoroughly enjoyable flip of the now classic original version, and Sean impressively manages to more than hold his own on the beat. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Sean Mo’s “I Just Wanna Rock” freestyle and accompanying video, available now on YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sean Mo! We loved your “I Just Wanna Rock” freestyle, and we had to ask, what made you go with this particular beat? Thanks. I went with that beat because I knew it was super relevant then, and it would challenge me as an artist to step my bars up by it being so uptempo. What is the most important thing an artist needs to succeed? The most important thing an artist needs to succeed is a Vision. You have to believe in your vision no matter what anybody else sees. And I’m also big on Originality and Investing in yourself. You can’t expect anybody else to invest in you if you aren’t doing the same! You mentioned growing up in Chicago but also splitting a lot of time now in LA. Are the two music scenes similar, and how have they impacted your growth as an artist? The music scenes are quite different, but I rock with both. I think Cali music is more similar to Detroit, Michigan’s music. It impacted my growth by seeing more I didn’t get to see in Chicago: more opportunities and better weather so that you can do a little more in the wintertime. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? I would describe my music to a new listener as Creative, Fun, Dope, and ORIGINAL. I Have fun with it; it comes from the heart or brain. Not really with the bandwagon and wave riding. I like to create my own Lane. But Guaranteed to make you laugh or catch a vibe. What’s next for Sean Mo? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? Besides my upcoming 2nd Project, “Can’t Miss My Beat Twice,” I will continue to make music. And also produce. I have documentaries I’m working on, including a prank show. So I want my fans to know. If you stop hearing music for a minute, I’m still working, no matter what creating a masterpiece somewhere. Staying Creative at all times. Don’t Quit Your Day Dream! Instagram Twitter
- Retrofile’s Latest Hit Deserves to Be Played “In Stereo”
An infusion of nostalgic 80s melodies, pulsating disco rhythms, and hypnotizing synths create the uniquely captivating style of the dynamic alternative duo Retrofile. Twin brothers Luke and Noah Martino burst onto the music scene in 2017 with their first single, “Two Words,” immediately earning them millions of streams and capturing hearts worldwide. Following their initial success, the twins released their debut EP “Heard It All Before'' in 2019, which was entirely written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Luke and Noah. Retrofile’s distinctive fusion of new wave and retro pop soundscapes has propelled them to the forefront of the alternative scene, and they show no signs of slowing down. During the 2019 pandemic, when lives were disrupted and work stopped, the Martino twins recognized an opportunity to hone their craft and immerse themselves in the production of their long-awaited debut album. Released on April 14th of this year, the album’s lead single, “In Stereo,” offers listeners an exciting preview of their latest creative explorations. The song opens with a blend of harmonic vocals, a plucked guitar tune, and a lively drum cadence creating an uplifting, vibrant ambiance. The nostalgic melody whisks listeners away on a journey back to simpler times, instilling a renewed sense of faith and optimism. The rich bassline propels the song forward into the euphoric chorus, embellished with resonant synths, sparkling percussion, and an utterly infectious rhythmic pulse. From the moment you hear this track, you won’t resist dancing. “‘The key hook on the chorus is ‘Music gives me faith when there's nothing to believe in anymore.’ That line sums it up for us. Our love of writing and recording music has been the driving force of our creativity over the years.’” In a recent interview, Retrofile delved into the inspiration behind their latest release. “In Stereo” transcends the boundaries of a typical catchy summer anthem; it stands as a reflection and testament to Retrofile’s artistic development. Life is a journey characterized by trials, error, and subsequent growth. Whether these experiences manifest in our careers, relationships, emotions, or spirituality, they are essential to our personal development. “In Stereo'' conveys a powerful message highlighting the importance of discovering faith through passion. The song encourages listeners to look within themselves to uncover their source of faith. Welcome to BuzzMusic Retrofile! Could you share with us what inspired your unique sound as an alternative group? Hello BuzzMusic! We are very open-minded listeners, which has helped us find inspiration from current and retro acts. Our sound is generally influenced by synth-pop, disco, and indie rock groups. We like jangly guitar-driven pop/rock like Two Door Cinema Club/The Strokes/The Killers .. but we also love dark reflective synth music like Depeche Mode/New Order. Toss a bit of Chic/ABBA in there, and you've got Retrofile. How do you navigate the creative process of writing, producing, and mixing a song as a duo? Do you carry specific roles, or is everything divided equally between you? It's divided relatively equally. I usually do more with the initial demo creation/writing, and Noah does more with the engineering/production. We don't have any rules, though. We both know how to play a few instruments and can take turns performing on the tracks. Our songs are more about the entire picture and less about individual virtuosic parts, so it's not like only one of us would be able to play a specific part. Staying flexible in the studio has kept the creative process from getting boring. In your latest release, “In Stereo,” you touch upon how music is a source of faith during challenging times. Has music always been a therapeutic outlet for you? Absolutely. As long as I can remember, music has been THE escape. Put on some headphones and let the whole world slip away. Finding a song or album you love is almost like meeting a new friend. Music can be such an emotional escape. We want to create the type of music people can disappear into. That's what we are always shooting for! A song that becomes someone's new escape. Among all your performances, is a particular show that stands out as your favorite? We just recently played our first show back since the pandemic, and it was great. I'm sure the next one will be even better. Performing live is so interesting because different songs stand out in different venues with different crowds. There are so many variables. We are in a career stage where every next show will be our favorite. If you had the opportunity to collaborate with any artist that’s ever lived, who would it be? That is such a tricky question. I'd go with someone insane, like Mozart. I don't know how much of a collaboration it would be. Noah and I likely wouldn't get a chance to contribute. Can you imagine Mozart with modern-day recording technology and equipment? Wearing a powdered wig, churning out pop bangers like it's nothing. It would be amazing. Instagram Facebook
- Splice Sama's Latest Ghostly Track Will Have You Turning Up
Splice Sama brings forth a euphoric sense of balance on his latest release, "Turn It Up." We view Splice Sama as an artist that easily blends together low-key soundscapes with a thoroughly relaxed vocal delivery. Splice Sama is the specific kind of artist you want to be listening to if you need a chilled-out, harmonically-driven Hip/Hop experience. Sama brings an otherworldly sensation to the product of his sound. His recent track release, "Turn It Up," fosters natural flowing energy. You can easily tell that Sama sources out unique ways to elevate his delivered verses within "Turn It Up." "Turn It Up" screams desirability, mostly due to the adventurous content Sama chooses to hone his focus on. That low-key soundscape we mentioned before is entirely present in "Turn It Up," and each integrated beat is unravelled incredibly smoothly. That's essentially what you get with the music of Splice Sama: smooth and trill listening experiences. We highly doubt that "Turn It Up" will disappoint. Splice Sama has indeed brought another fire single to the Hip/Hop music community, and whatever music he's up to releasing next will be immediately added to our playlists for that necessary elevated buzz. Check out Splice Sama's latest track "Turn It Up" here. Hey Splice Sama, and congrats on releasing "Turn It Up". What exactly do you think this release meant for you as an artist? Do you feel the creation process of the track challenged you in any new ways? Thanks so much. This release for me was kind of a way to branch out in my style as an artist. I have a wide spectrum between Dark Sadness and Action-Packed Anthems. I thought it would be nice to break away from that and just have fun. It turns out the track is doing better than I had anticipated What kind of vision would you say you initially crafted for "Turn It Up"? Was there an intended takeaway message you wanted your listeners to understand explicitly? Just have fun, I guess. My vision for the song was generally towards showing my love for the majority of my fan base which is Alt. Girls and Anime nerds. I wanted to make something they’d play in their TikToks and makeup blogs. A lot of my fans like to play my music when they work out or getting down on their favorite fighting games. I love when people send me videos of them playing Dragonball Kakarot or the new My Hero game with my music bumping in the background. It makes me feel like I’m reaching the ones that matter the most. Are there any topics you feel you currently use your platform as a music artist to elevate and shed more light on? Honestly, the topics I touch on most are more in line with how emotionally damaged our young generation is and the roller coaster ride that comes with relationships these days. It’s getting harder for people to stay in love and I think my music speaks on that a fair amount. Outside of that, there are the occasional spouts about the magic of the universe, space and even conspiracy. I’m a demon hunter so sometimes you’ll hear a bit of story involving that and the heartbreak between higher-dimensional beings. How do you plan to continue growing and flourishing your characterizable sound from here on out? I am continuously being influenced by what surrounds me. I’ve been told this is a weakness of my kind because of the fact that we are such empaths. You could consider it to be of a psychic origin. Even I only know so little about my heritage. Life on Otherworld was fairly short, but that’s a story for another day. What can we expect to see from you throughout the rest of 2020? I have 2 new songs dropping this month. One is very much a cold dark night vibe and it’s called “RIP” It features a good friend of mine Sleepwell (Sleepy Senpai) we have several other songs together coming later in the year. The other song is quite the opposite and is very romantic. It’s definitely a summer bop with the title “4Seasons”. Of course, both of these tracks are produced by the infamous blk.MVSK. I wouldn’t have any other way. As for music videos, expect a lot of them this year. We just recently started our own production company under blk.MVSK studios so we’re shooting and editing everything ourselves. You can catch the BTS content on my Patreon. Lastly, I’m in the process of a collab with an awesome Anime themed indie brand called Angel T Apparel. The designer, Angel, is my personal stylist and she does a lovely job at it. Look out for that collection this coming fall. #BUZZMUSIC
- Kanitha Reconnects With An Old Flame On “WGYTAU”
The LA-based songstress explores the intricacies of connecting with an ex-lover after moving on. Amid a global pandemic in which uncertainty and isolation became the norm, a star was quietly taking shape in the heart of Los Angeles. Kanitha, the artistic alias for talented singer/songwriter Marjorie Huot, emerged from the depths of lockdown with a burning passion for music and a refreshing take on the R&B genre. Armed with a captivating voice and a burning desire to explore her artistic limits, Kanitha has swiftly established herself as one to watch in the future. Kanitha released her debut single, “Vices,” released in March 2022, shattering all expectations in the best way possible. She’s teamed up with visionary producer Mystc, forming a tag team that plays off each other’s strengths to make fresh new music for your listening pleasure. Her music often touches on topics like love, heartache, and personal growth, and her willingness to be vulnerable and transparent has made her music extremely relatable, endearing her to listeners in the process. The follow-up to her highly well-received “Vices,” “WGYTAU?” (What Got You Thinking About Us) is Kanitha’s latest highly anticipated release. Although the track has a flirty and reflective vibe, the subject matter is fairly complex, dealing with the intricacies and wrinkles of reconnecting with an ex-lover after moving on. Lyrics like “Maybe I should just let you get away / Don’t you wonder what we could be / I could satisfy your fantasies” showcase the emotional tug of war. Combined with the soulful, almost hauntingly beautiful instrumentals spearheaded by a piano, Kanitha completely envelops you in her soundscape. As Kanitha continues to carve her path in the music industry, her fusion of R&B and pop will continue to captivate listeners everywhere. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Kanitha’s “WGYTAU,” available on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Kanitha! We loved “WGYTAU”; it was intricate yet delicate and moving! Could you take us through the creative process for this song? Were you drawing on any personal experiences? Thank you! When I started writing the lyrics, the melody was much angrier and upbeat. When I brought the lyrics to my producer Mystc, he rearranged them into something completely different from what I was hearing in my head. But that's the beauty of collaborating with someone because I would've never imagined the song to sound the way it does now. It's flirtier and softer, but the emotions are the same. I intended that I didn't want it to sound like I was inviting this person back. I was dating someone I invested more effort in than he did for me. I didn't like it, but I stuck around because he would tell me he’d do better but never did. We broke it off. One day, I was looking at my social media, and he liked all these posts from when we dated up until now; then he started messaging me, and it bothered me. I felt like I was always last in line for his attention when we dated, and then suddenly, he checked up on me on social media daily. I just got over him and it felt crappy because I know I made an effort when we saw each other, and I just thought, “What is he doing?” "Why are you giving me this kind of attention right now?" inspired this song. You mentioned that you started taking music seriously during the pandemic. What spark inspired you to take that next step in your music career? I had a lot of free time since I wasn't working, I was at home in my college apartment, quarantining and finishing my degree online. I had some money saved up and thought this might be the only time in my life where I have all the time in the world to focus on my music. No excuses. No limitations. So I started looking for a music producer to work with and came across Mystic. We've been working on songs throughout the last couple of years. What goals do you want to accomplish through your music? I have a bunch, but I try to focus on what's the most tangible at the moment. My main ones are to record and release more music and finally play some shows! I want to start moving towards bigger goals I have for myself because I think I’ve been taking the last few years to get comfortable, learn the process and business, and work on my confidence. I know I’m ready to invest more in my career and take risks. Something that jumped out right away is the transparency of your lyrics. Combined with your vocals, it feels as if we’re almost getting a glimpse into your soul. What’s your approach to lyrics, and what kind of lyrics do you think most appeal to you as a musician? Thank you! That's so nice of you to say. I don’t like to write about subjects that are inauthentic to me. I grew up listening to Taylor Swift and Paramore, and something that resonated with me with their songwriting is that they’re not afraid to be vulnerable. They give us the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of themselves, and it’s so raw and real, and I think that’s why they’ve had such long-standing careers. Their fans, like myself, can listen to their music and relate to what they say. I write all the time, and there are songs that I know I wouldn’t take to the studio, not because they’re not good but because they don’t resonate with me. I feel like that’s what I’ve taken from artists like Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams; they write about what they know, how they feel, lean into it, and are unapologetic. What’s next for Kanitha? What can fans expect for the rest of the year, and is there anything you want to say to them? I’m focused on recording and releasing more music for the rest of the year. My biggest goal is to start performing live, so hopefully, I can start performing these songs I’ve been working on for my supporters and new people too! I’ve been thinking about creating merch to sell at shows or online, which would be something to look forward to. I’m very grateful to everyone who has supported me so far. I’m looking forward to what will come next! Instagram Facebook
- Ozie Nzeribe Continues To Blaze His Own Trail In The Entertainment World As “Royale Hughes”
The multi-talented actor and musician continue to build on his already impressive body of work in his reprisal of Royale Hughes, the talented yet conflicted basketball star. Our next esteemed guest needs a little introduction. He guest starred as “2Pac Shirt” in ABC’s Emmy award-winning “Little Fires Everywhere,” guest starred in Jamie Foxx’s “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me” and has also starred in Adidas and Louis Vuitton campaigns showcased worldwide. However, most fans may recognize him as Todd in the Emmy award-winning show, “Shameless.” Most recently, Ozie can be seen in "The Stepmother 3," streaming now on Tubi. As artistically consistent as he is talented, Nzeribe is set to return for season two of the Apple TV +, Kevin Durant executively produced sports drama ‘Swagger.’ In ‘Swagger,’ he stars as Royale Hughes, an extremely talented basketball player constantly trying to prove himself. With an already impressive body of work and the work ethic to match his rare talent, Nzeribe’s star is bright as he continues to blaze a trail in the acting world. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ozie Nzeribe! It’s great to have you here with us! It’s rare to see someone as accomplished as yourself, particularly at a young age! We wanted to ask, what spark made you get into acting? Thanks for having me. Great to be here. My venture into acting began with a leap of faith and a faithful push from my mother and family after an acting manager approached me. So you’re currently starring as Royale Hughes in ‘Swagger.’ How easy was it to get into character for someone as nuanced as Royale? It feels like he’s a complex person with a chip on his shoulder. Were you able to draw from any personal experiences when you portray him? Royale and I, although different, have a couple of similarities, including dyslexia as well as a wealthy background, that, at times, we have both received a form of. Discriminated against. So I found this role easier to portray, with these similarities So a common thread that comes up whenever you’re discussed is your poise, drive to succeed, and willingness to work to succeed and master your craft. How do you stay grounded as someone who has accomplished so much so early? How do you keep motivated and stay hungry to maintain your stellar performance? I have my friends and family to keep me grounded, and as far as motivation and my hunger for the art are fueled solely by my love and devotion for acting, I only continue to love it more and more as time goes on. I also am motivated by fellow actors and actresses. So this isn’t extremely common knowledge, but you’re also a talented musician! For your fans who may not be as familiar with this side of you, how would you describe your music to fans who haven’t heard it before? Is there anything you want to achieve through your music? Music was my first love and still is to this day. I mainly Rap but sing as well, and my style ranges from a couple of genres, including hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeat, and alternative. I plan to make more music this year and play at more big-scale venues, and hopefully, one day win a Grammy For all of your fans out there and any that may be aspiring to follow in your footsteps in the future, what do you think is the most important quality for an actor or musician? My advice for anyone looking into acting is to be consistent, turn in your self-tape auditions on time, always be open to opinions given by your directors, and always be polite when entering any acting set. As far as the music side, practice your craft and always make sure you’re happy with your music before pushing, don’t let anyone pursue music, and always be open to criticism. Instagram Facebook
- New Album Alert: Fancy J London Releases A Rich Collection Of Songs On New Album, "Shadow"
Fancy J London is here with her album titled “Shadow.” This album is a collection filled with songs that are richly textured and infused with funk. "Shadow" begins with the song “Chase Me Home” which is a groovy song that gives us pop influences mixed with disco elements embroidered within the arrangement. Our personal favorite component to “Chase Me Home” was undeniably the addictive hook. It was contagious and vibrant while radiating into our memories as memorable. The hook is an important section of a song because it’s what the fans will remember later. “Chase Me Home” wasn’t the only song to do this. The next song “Another Day” was syncopated and catchy as the hook becomes stuck to your memory. It’s so good you'll want to hit that repeat button! “Shining Star” and “Fool” were both strong additions to the album. Both songs really showcased variety to this assortment of songs on "Shadow". “Fool” was our personal favorite due to the classic vibes it holds. It had this unique 60s vibe to the atmosphere while remaining sending off a feeling of warmth and comfort. This blissful track, however, didn’t prepare us for the next song, “Charades” that we absolutely loved. “Charades” had this smooth R&B vibe that was not only soulful but it was also sensual. This is actually one of our personal favorite styles of R&B music. We were highly impressed with the arrangement of the song. “Shadow” completely met our expectations, it sets the bar high for the remainder of the songs that are on the album. Three songs that stood out to us were the tracks “How Could You”, “Dead To Me”, and “Lost My Head”. These songs really stood out to us. Fancy J Londons' songwriting talents really shine through. Each one of these three songs was emoted with strong conviction and gave us a bigger insight into Fancy J Londons' authenticity and emotions. This was a nice way to show an unguarded and vulnerable aspect to her artistry and to the album. The next song that comes on "Shadow" is “Crashing Down.” “Crashing Down” was a cool pop-driven song that gave us an atmospheric and electronic element to encourage us to enter a dream-like aura to enjoy the artsy lyrics to the track. Fancy J London’s diversity and range are immaculate. We fell absolutely in love with the track “Thanks”. Fancy J London shows us her ability to express her emotions on a trap beat. “Shadow” was a multi-faceted album with a variety of dimensions that showcased significant qualities to Fancy J London’s artistry. Each song on the album warrants its place and chronologically takes you on a journey with new surprises and transitions each way. We love the artistry, musicianship, and emotion that filled "Shadow." There is a song for everyone to resonate with and enjoy! Listen to “Shadow” by Fancy J London here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Fancy J London! Tell us about your journey touring from Mexico to South America! What has been the most memorable moment of this tour so far and why? Touring in Mexico has taught me a lot about the culture, it has shown me that Mexico is a beautiful place with amazingly warm friendly people, sadly which is a rare find in the U.S. I was humbled to be able to share a stage with DJ's, Bands, and Artists from all over Mexico to South America in all types of languages and styles. It has been an unforgettable learning experience. What was the entire creative theme for the album “Shadow”? What made you name this album “Shadow”? Shadow is the 2nd album in a 3 part trilogy that started with LiGHT. I decided to create a trilogy because most of the songs have similar vibes of disco, retro, and dream pop. It would be crazy for me to release 1 album with 50+ songs, so I split it into 3. I named the album Shadow for a couple of reasons first the trilogy started with LiGHT I felt it would be so cliche to name the 2nd album "Dark" instead I decided to choose Shadow. The other reason is I am a deeply personal person I rarely come out of my shadow I feel it is more intriguing to be a bit mysterious than to let it all hang out. How would you describe your songwriting approach to the album “Shadow”? Some songs felt like they were highly sentimental like the song “How Could You”? I write songs when I feel the most vulnerable it helps me create from a very personal side of myself and it is very healing for me as well. "How Could You" is very personal as is most of the songs on the album. I have personally struggled in relationships being betrayed on a mega level and it has made me a bit cynical towards love. Can you detail to us your creative process behind “Shadow”? What was the most challenging aspect in creating this project and how were you able to overcome the obstacle and did you experiment with any new elements in the production of it? Shadow was brought together after speaking with several close friends and relatives. Many people have told me to open up lyrically. I honestly felt like I have in the past but looking back at my previous albums I was vague and cryptic. Now I am trying to let out the things that I have hidden and in doing so I have been able to creatively grow. The most challenging part of creating Shadow was getting through the recordings without falling apart. I kept fighting tears and trying to sing through emotions I have bottled up my entire life from childhood, first loves, near-death traumas, and health struggles. Somehow letting it out in a song helps me overcome the pain little by little. I always experiment when creating music I love trying new things. I did just that with the track "Lost My Head" Believe it or not that was a true story about a cat I had and how being in love can make you literally lose your head. I enjoy creating crazy music once in a while and became well known for songs like "Can We Talk For A Minute", "Blu3 Scream', and "Drunk". I feel it is necessary to break away from the gloom of it all once in a while. What are you looking forward to most this year in 2020 Fancy J London? I am looking forward to dropping the last album of my trilogy entitled "Reflect". I am also eager to release a few more projects I have done in collaboration with Kentucky rapper Kyngsolo, Producer & DJ Ross Tha Boss and hopefully finish out the year with my self-titled R&B album. Most of all I hope to reach the hearts of those who need it the most and spread love wherever I go. Thank you Buzz Music for the support I am humbled and grateful for communities such as yours that come together for so many artist's out there that are deserving of recognition. - Fancy J London instagram.com/officialfancyjlondon facebook.com/fancyjlondonofficial
- Go Back In Time With Nyjo Brennen's 70s Infused Single, "Six Missed Calls"
The spunky R&B Singer/Songwriter Nyjo Brennen returns with boundless energy and soul within his lively hit, "Six Missed Calls." More recently, Nyjo Brennen has taken a new creative endeavor under his wing amid the pandemic. Recording 'Lightning in a Bottle Sessions' on his YouTube channel has allowed Brennen to live by the mantra that each song resembles a lightning bolt, different, memorable, and electrifying. Regarding the sparkling R&B Funk-infused single "Six Missed Calls," Nyjo Brennen tells a story of trying to put the pieces of a broken relationship back together yet in an optimistic and cheerful way. The groovy instrumentals take us back to prime 70s Funk with drifting synths that rain ear-pleasing melodies alongside up-tempo percussion. "Six Missed Calls" begins with incredibly soulful instrumentals through lively organ, upbeat piano, distant synths, and organic drum patterns. As Nyjo Brennen begins describing the morning after an evening out, he sets this incredibly playful and lively tone to this dynamic track. Within the verses, Brennen explains such unforgettable and animated scenes of a night out, yet interestingly it all leads back to the hook where he sits and wonders what those "Six Missed Calls" were about. Around the bridge, nothing but Brennen's sweet vocals and sole piano serenade the listener and go back to this reminiscent and longing feeling that occasionally overcomes him. Ending the song with the same energy and vibrance it began with, Nyjo Brennen's "Six Missed Calls" delivers resilience and optimism while managing to remind the listener that healing has no time frame. Hello Nyjo and thank you for joining us at BuzzMusic. We're excited to have you back to chat about the creation of your lively single, "Six Missed Calls." Could you tell us more about the song's concept and what influenced the message behind the track? Thank you for having me back! Sure, I absolutely love 'Six Missed Calls.' It's my favorite song that has my personality infused into the vocals. You know it's me if you know me. Songwriting-wise, I like to paint a picture with my storytelling. It's not based on a specific true story thankfully but I can relate to it. The message talks about taking someone for granted in a relationship. The protagonist cheats in one-night stands, prefers nightclubs more than home, and has to learn the hard way when his lover leaves. In real life, I'm always the one leaving. I'm a Taurus. We don't play those games but it was fun pretending to be the reckless one for this song. Also, it's strange because the 'missed calls' part nowadays reminds me of my desire to not talk on the phone nowadays. I miss a lot of calls. I make exceptions but I was never a BIG phone person, especially during this pandemic. Voice and Video messages are more of my things. What kind of atmosphere and vibe did you want to deliver with the instrumentals on "Six Missed Calls," seeing as your lyrics touch on somewhat heavy themes? Out of all of my songs, I wanted 'Six Missed Calls' to be the one that sounded like a live performance. I didn't want it to be too clean. You hear a lot of my ad-libs, which feel like life. It feels effortless and so damn cool. Six Missed Calls isn't contrived or overly complex. It's an NYJO BRENNEN SOUND. Simplicity with strength. It was conceptualized on a guitar, but I wanted drums for sure. I also wanted an organ subtly because you don't hear it at all in music nowadays. I can close my eyes and it plays like an L.A. music video. Waking up in The Valley, going to a club in Hollywood, driving back on Mulholland Drive in the moonlight to an empty home. The lyrics set the scenes and the instrumentals score it so perfectly. Could you tell us more about your 'Lightning in a Bottle Sessions'? Have they made an impact on your creative process and how you execute songs? I created 'The Lightning in a Bottle Sessions' on my Youtube channel as a part of my therapy and a way for my followers to engage with me during the pandemic. The new normal is creators are relying on Social Media and each other more than ever to get us through. My largest audience is on Tiktok with over 40k followers. My sessions are live outside performances of my singles, some new material, and cover songs that I reimagine. The process has been like recording my 'Lightning In A Bottle' album. Days before recording I'd check in with myself and see how I felt. Since I had 300 songs written, I'd pick the song that applied to how I felt. Same thing with my setlist. My songs and the covers are very deliberate though. I did a cover of Rebecca Ferguson's 'Too Good To Lose' and dedicated it to Chadwick Boseman. Loved him so much. Planning on doing a dedication to victims of police brutality like Breonna Taylor and George Floyd soon. There are MORE fun and nostalgic escapism moments as well. I covered Blaque's 'Bring It All To Me' that was so much fun! Can't wait to do a Christmas session eventually. Singing live gets me excited to go back in the studio again when COVID isn't a threat, whenever that is. In the meanwhile 'The Lightning in a Bottle Sessions' is live on my Youtube channel now. You've mentioned that you aim to be an inspiration within your music career. How do you put this into action within your brand and the music you release? I believe the only way to be an inspiration is to be your true self. I've learned it isn't about what you have, it's all about what you do with it. I always visualized myself doing what I accomplished. I was born in The Bahamas. A beautiful and humble beginning. I was 13-17 years old daydreaming of making my music videos, writing, and recording my songs. When it all happened for me in my 20s it was my answered prayer. My brand is to be an authentic self and to be intentional with my decisions. I don't associate myself with projects or songs that I do not believe in or support. I've always been a Quality Over Quantity kind of guy. The people I admire are incomparable. Al Green, Rihanna, Joseph Spence (my Folk Legend Great-Grand Uncle) are people that I admire how they handled what God gave them musically. What has been keeping you inspired in 2020? 2020 has been a difficult year, especially as a Black Man. Mentally draining, and emotionally challenging, and more tears shed in 1 year than in 3. But what keeps me inspired is HOPE. Hope for a change in the climate in America. Hope that equality and good intentions will prevail over sinister, divisive bigotry. It's the hope that things will get better for my people and other communities feeling the weight of systemic racism. I know because of this weight my artistry and mood for my future recordings will be affected. The world's changed. My music has been my escapism. Mind you, I always finish what I started. Similar to how I teased 'Six Missed Calls' years ago and after a personal tragedy, backed away from it. I'm back to cross the finish line. But to be honest, I have one last upbeat single to release to complete my 'Lightning in a Bottle EP.' After that, whatever happens on Election Day influences the tone of the rest of my future recordings. I'm hopeful and believe in good results though. I'm really praying that it will be a celebration and in 2021 I'll assist in helping make people dance! Instagram Youtube

- Olai Takes Us Home In “Wuu2"
Olai is a Sweden-based Alternative Rock artist who uses classic synths in his music production. After signing out with the Atlanta-based label Out of Class Records, Olai is here again with a brand new release that has flairs of indie, folk, pop, and alternative rock. A tease us of his upcoming album ‘Silver Linings,’ which is expected to release in 2020. Olai’s newest single “Wuu2” opens up with an alternative groove but with an entirely electronic feeling that brings us the utmost joy in Olai’s use of exciting melodies and riffing guitars that drive the song home. Within the chorus of “Wuu2”, we were introduced to highlights of what Olai is capable of as a singer. Through the use of his incredibly catchy hook “Carry on carry on” and the softer side of his voice, we couldn’t help but feel comforted by the magic that Olai has presented to our ears. With its use of both transitional alternative rock and electronic elements, it felt incredibly comfortable for us to listen to. Combined with Olai’s magical songwriting, “Wuu2” is a record that we thoroughly enjoyed listening to from start to end, and we cannot wait to hear the rest of the ‘Silver Linings album later this year. Hello Olai! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We’re loving that comforting blend between alternative rock and electronica, what inspired you to fuse these two styles? Do you have any idols that do this? Hello, thanks for having me BuzzMusic. About Wuu2, I wanted to do something that sounded a bit old-school but still had a modern vibe. I have always loved rock from the 70s and 80s, like for example Queen, Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen, but also more modern bands like White Lies, The Killers, Luftmensch and Ghost. So there are many artists that inspire me and that kind of do the same. Your release “Wuu2” feels like one of those songs that hits home, what was your initial intention to deliver when writing this song? What do the lyrics mean to you? The lyrics are actually inspired by 1984, by George Orwell with phrases like "Now here come the thought police, claiming war is peace". The lyrics are the most essential element in the song I would say and so I wanted to make the vocals as clear as possible but still fit the overall sound. And musically, I knew quite early that I wanted it to be more of a rock song than say folk-pop, which I had done a lot earlier. With this interesting fusion you have of alternative rock and electronica, do you see yourself diving into new styles? How does “Wuu2” compare to the rest of the album? There will certainly be similarities between "Wuu2" and the rest of the album. Some songs will be more bass-driven though while others will be more focused on the guitars, but overall there will be a fusion between alternative rock and electronica for sure. Since leaving Out of Class Records, how do you feel you have grown as an artist and songwriter? Do you see yourself keeping as an independent artist or do you wish to become signed again? I feel that I have had time to develop my sound since leaving OFC records. I took a break from music for a while and read quite a lot too, like for example George Orwell and British poetry from the Romantics, which inspired me as well in my songwriting. And for now, I want to be an independent artist. I like the freedom to work at my own pace, but still with help from my friends. We'll see what happens in the future though, but right now I want to be independent. Aside from your new album, what else can we expect from you in 2020? I will work a lot and play live as much as possible, through livestreams right now. I have a few gigs booked now and more to come. Lastly, I hope that we all take care of each other during these troubling times and remember that we're never alone. facebook.com/olaimusic instagram.com/olaimusic
