- Morgan Melbourne Tells Us Why It's Important To Face Our Fears In "Little Puppet, Dysphoria"
Morgan Melbourne! Welcome to Buzz Music, and thank you for being here. We love your song "Little Puppet, Dysphoria." What inspired you to write this dark tune? Hello, and thank you so much for this opportunity and for listening to my song! What appears to be a tune that turns towards a darker subject is actually something that most of us battle on a daily basis: consistently masking our fears within our own minds. Unknowingly, there are times we can become our own catalyst and trap ourselves in our heads. This song has a unique ability to incite fear in its listeners. What was your intention when writing this song? I wanted to be honest with the description of how we view ourselves in front of what scares us most. In this particular case, the song tells the story of someone fighting their own mind, creating a sense of insanity. To avoid facing their own buried fears, they try to console them with an addiction to their choosing to avoid confrontation with themselves. Very rarely do we hear music that manages to be fearsome and scary without losing its form. How did you manage to create this well-balanced tune? I wanted to create something that seemed a little bit of an oxymoron. To build this balance, the sense of mania is created with dance-like upbeat instrumentation, which depicts the opposite feeling of dysphoria oneself. Writing the song in minor helped to describe the dysfunction in the person’s mind as they are panicking. You are a classically trained pianist with many accomplishments under your belt, as well as a busy director and teacher. When in the future can we expect more music from you? Definitely, more exploration in various genres that for sure! Just continuously building curiosity for what’s out there. What can we expect to see next from Morgan Melbourne? There will be a few more singles released in the near future, which I’m really excited about. Read our full song review here. Instagram
- Morgan Melbourne Releases Her Drum Driven Single "Little Puppet, Dysphoria"
There’s the marching of a drum and talks of a little puppet like the circus is in town, but this one isn’t upbeat or happy. Instead, it is a circus of fear and Morgan Melbourne is its ring leader. The classically trained pianist wows us with the release of her dark-pop tune "Little Puppet, Dysphoria," telling a story from the point of view of a villain. We, the listeners, are made to feel fearful of an evil puppeteer who is pulling our strings and controlling us. The marching drum beat makes you feel as though this manipulation is imminent, and the minor notes paint a dark and ominous sonic picture. Like horror for your ears, this song is by no means bad. In fact, I believe it succeeds in doing what it sets out to do; inciting fear. I am always a fan of things that push the envelope and stray away from the status quo. It’s not very often that you hear music that is created to incite fear and unease. In fact, music tends to aim for the opposite reactions in people. Nevertheless, the goal of music is always to convey a message, a feeling or a story, and Morgan Melbourne most definitely incites feeling with this song. Like a horror movie, it makes your heart race and you feel slight discomfort, but you can't help but crave more. This dark pop tune features fierce musicality and fearsome lyrics. - Livvy K Kicks Off The Summer With Her Latest Single, “Closer”
Artist and creator Livvy K grace us once again, this time highlighting her latest hot dance track, “Closer.” Being halfway through an incredibly successful UK school tour and putting it to a halt due to the world’s condition, Livvy K has constantly been creating, performing from her living room and anticipating reuniting with her loved ones. Ironically releasing her latest single, “Closer,” at a time when we’re separated, Livvy K explained that the track is nothing short of a summer bop getting us ready to live freely again. A lively dance track pushing the boundaries of pop, house music, and two-step garage, we’re really feeling her UK influences with this piece. Opening with sweet keyboard melodies and an intriguing ghost vocal, “Closer” swiftly moves into an exhilarating two-step dance beat and gets our toes tapping. Livvy K’s vocals are genuinely the perfect kind of sound you’d like to hear over a vibrant electronic song. She naturally sings with poise and flawlessly vocalizes those warm summer nights full of passion and getting “Closer” to someone. The production slowly switches up after the hook with deep synths that touch on the liveliness of house music and carry the song to different sonic depths. A track with passion, energy, and rhythm, Livvy K’s “Closer” serves all the vibes we need to get our summer started. We’re really getting down with your warm summer single “Closer.” Did you have the track completed before the pandemic, or was “Closer” the outcome of distance? Hey! So glad you guys are loving the new single. So ‘Closer’ was actually a song I recorded before lockdown when I was over in Denver, Colorado, with two really good friends of mine, Soli Ridge and John Gillette. We all worked together to create the new single, and we felt like right now would be the best time to release it. Due to the world's current situation, this song definitely hits all the right feels and is guaranteed to get us all ready for summer and looking forward to reuniting with the people we love after what has been a crazy year. Your single “Closer” seems to touch on the energy of dance music and a two-step garage through the dynamic production. What inspired Livvy K to release a song that pushes the limits of pop with hi-fi electronic? That’s right, ‘Closer’ is a mix of Pop, Dance, and Two-Step Garage. What inspired me was my love for these genres of music. Since I was little, I have listened to a LOT of music, my mum loves pop, and my dad loves the house. So without realizing it, over time, I have definitely developed my ear in a way that understands the genres and how to create similar styles of music. We’ve heard that Livvy K was one of the headliners for a UK school tour that raised awareness for mental health in young people. What pulled you into this compassionate role, and how do you keep your music on brand with what you represent? Starting in January 2020 and until the lockdown happened in March this year, I was halfway through my UK school tour We’re I performed in front of thousands of school children whilst at the same time raising awareness of mental health in young people. I had a discussion about mental health, drugs, and a healthy lifestyle and performed covers and some original songs too, which went down really well. The tour aimed to raise awareness through the music of the struggles facing young people in communities across the UK and provided signposting for those needing help. After personally being affected by mental health, this is a subject I feel very strongly about and that I think definitely needs to be taught more in schools, which is why when I was given the opportunity to not only perform but share my experiences and try and help spread awareness in the schools, I was absolutely over the moon! We’ve seen Livvy K come and go from BuzzMusic with many different industry ventures and notable experiences. How has this experience of distance impacted Livvy K as an artist and how do you create? If I’m honest, it’s been nice to have a little break from the stresses of life, and with being so busy recently, it’s been great to spend some quality time with my family and my dogs and focus on perfecting my craft and creating more music. But I am desperate to get back to my normal schedule and start performing for an actual crowd again. Once we are allowed back, the festivals, gigs, and shows are gonna be so crazy; I cannot wait! What will you be working on next, Livvy? Well, during the lockdown, I have been creating a lot, so I have some new projects I’m working on right now that I’m really excited to show you all very soon. In the meantime, I will be continuing to work hard and will be looking to set up some performances once we get the go-ahead! I just wanna say a huge thanks to everyone for all the love and support on my newest single. It means the world. - Who Is Livvy K? Getting To Know The Rising Popstar & Her Release, “Way I Do”
We’re extremely excited to feature your latest single, “Way I Do.” Could you share with us what inspired the empowering song? Like all my songs, they are based on true stories. My music is not only how I express my emotions but a way to use my voice and speak to people who feel the same and have been through similar situations in life! That’s the best part about what I do!! Now my new single, “Way I Do,” is about how love makes us do crazy things, and sometimes we can get too carried away with our feelings that we fall head over heels for the wrong Guy or Gal! I know a lot of us have been there, so this can be our anthem, haha! It’s a great feel-good song to blast in the car and sings at the top of your voice! It may be my favorite single I’ve released yet!! “Way I Do” was co-written with you, John Gillette and Soli Ridge. Could you take us through your creative process when co-writing? Co-writing is so much fun. Being in the room with other creatives and artists and being able to share ideas and bounce lyrics and melodies back and forth is something I really really enjoy and learn from every time I'm in the room. That's exactly what we did; we all just sat in the studio and bounced ideas back and forth until we got something that felt right and we were happy with. You had a few outfit changes during the music video, you’re very stylish! Any fashion icon’s that you take after? I’d describe my style as being bold and colorful with a sporty/edgy vibe. I love wearing items of clothing that really stand out from the crowd and create conversation! So for me, some fashion icons that inspire me are people like Lady Gaga, Virgil Abloh, and Tommy Hilfiger. You sing, dance, and act - a triple threat! Even a model too! You’re clearly hard-working. Have you always had this perseverance? What inspired you to be doing everything that you are? To be honest, I have always just been a very creative person, so from a young age; I knew that my career would be something along with the lines. I do work very hard when it comes to my career and the legacy I want to leave, but that is what it takes, especially in the music industry. You have to outwork each and every day. My major inspiration would probably be the vision in my head. That is what keeps me focused, dedicated and hard working for sure! What can we expect to see next from Livvy K? 2020 has been crazy so far; with my first UK tour, brand new music, and video dropping, it has been full speed ahead! But that is just the beginning. You can expect lots of exciting new music, visuals, and performances. I can't wait for you all to see what the team and I have been working hard on. Instagram
- Stella Prince Will Have Listeners Hanging On Every Lyric In Her New Single, “Before You Leave”
Being an individual who enjoys sharing her original folk music with a variety of generations, 16-year-old singer-songwriter Stella Prince's vocals touch an extraordinary range, and her ability to hit extremely high notes is unlike any other. Spending her time between New York’s Hudson Valley and Nashville, Tennessee, Prince is able to infuse a sense of authenticity and soul into each acoustic country and folk-pop track. Her newest single, “Before You Leave,” is a touching, emotional track that will have listeners looking inward to fill the void created by someone who left. The light guitar instrumental gives the single a very natural sound in which Prince’s voice and ability are heightened. Her light and airy vocal is a clear demonstration that Prince’s vocals heavily transcend her young age. The depth in her written lyrics expresses a maturity that many, decades older, would be unable to achieve. “Before You Leave” beams with feelings of individual learning to find her new identity after an experience with a lover who was meant to be and what she hopes they would say before they take that final step away. This acoustic folk track is filled with authenticity and a true natural connection with another, and with the strong passion within this piece, it is clear that Stella Prince is an artist that is and will continue to make waves in the music industry in her chosen genre. - Stella Prince Releases An Acoustic Original, “Half Of Me”
Stella Prince is a 15-year-old singer and songwriter who is best known for her folk music. She travels frequently between New York and Nashville. Stella performs at multiple legendary venues all over the United States, including The Bluebird Café, The Colony, and The Falcon. Stella discovered her natural talent for performing at a young age. In fact, in 2019, Stella was a finalist for the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Artist-in-Residence Program. Stella’s songwriting is published in countless magazines, including Adelaide Literary Magazine and The Daphne Review. In addition to her numerous accomplishments, Stella is also a member of ASCAP, NSAI, and Global Songwriters Connection. Stella’s most recent release is an entirely acoustic folk song called “Half Of Me.” She plucks an elegant acoustic guitar in the background. This creates the gentle tempo of the song. Besides the last note of the song (which is one long strum), the guitar is plucked instead of strummed, which generates a mellow effect. The toned-down background leaves room for Stella to spotlight her vocals. She uses a silky, high-pitched voice as she softly sings the verses. During each chorus, although the background acoustic sounds remain consistent, Stella then increases her pitch, and consequently, the sound intensifies. With her incredible range, she illuminates her natural vocal ability throughout the entirety of “Half of Me.” Lyrically, Stella brings attention to the emptiness and lonely parts of life. She includes lyrics such as “half of me is gone” and “something always brings me down.” She sings about a love interest being unable to help her out of this personal “haunting.” Her insightful lyrics include multiple metaphors. The combination of all these things suggests that Stella may be wiser than her years. Listen to "Half Of Me" here. Instagram
- Prepare To Be Blown Away By Stella Prince's Newest Original Track, “Rain"
Stella Prince is an incredibly gifted singer/songwriter and up-and-coming recording artist. She primarily focuses on delivering folk-infused music but remains versatile and open to crossing over into various other genres. Her musical inspiration is fueled by legendary artists such as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, but Stella adds her own charismatic charm and authenticity to her original song. Her angelic vocal tone and passionate delivery will have you hooked from beginning to end. Out now is Stella Prince’s new original song, “Rain,” and we can’t stop grooving to this catchy lighthearted tune on repeat. I highly recommend you do the same so you can sing along with the energetic vocals and authentic indie-folk sound arrangements. The lyrics focus on real life; it’s relatable and completely accessible for listeners from all walks of life. Stella Prince has already received much success and positive feedback for her newest release, and we can see why! Easy listening instrumentation blasts through the speakers layered with addicting acoustic arrangments and soulful lyricism. “Rain” is a profoundly deep and personal original new song, Stella has created an eclectic motif, and we can’t wait to see what this up-and-coming artist curates for her fans next. Can you explain to our readers the truth that is embedded within the track? "Rain" is really about how love can be confusing. It refers to the complication and confusion that comes with love on all different levels at all different times of life. I'm fifteen now, and the love that I would experience now is completely different than at some point when I'm older. But no matter what, it's always confusing! Have you had professional training? Or is it something you’ve mastered overtime? I began studying voice and other instruments at a local conservatory prep program when I was little. I still continue to work with teachers and do all the warm-ups and exercises I learned as a kid. I don't think my training will ever leave me. How do you personally feel about live performance? Would you say that you prefer the live performance aspect of music more over the writing/recording process? As much as I love songwriting and recording my music in a studio, performing for me has always been number one. I'd rather perform in front of 250,000 people I don't know that a few friends! The energy I get back from the audience is always really special, and the adrenaline I experience while performing is unlike anything else. What’s next for Stella Prince artistically? Do you have any plans to tackle a longer project in the near future? I've been working for the past two years writing songs for a future album, and am working on a few more as we speak. I am hoping to find a really great producer to work with to make my first album come together. It is very different than most of the music out there today. It's more connected to the feel of Carole King's "Tapestry" combined with the sound of Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell in the way that the overall feel has a slower, heartfelt depth that flows throughout from song to song. I am very excited about what's to come! Tell us more about what's next for you after this song release? Any shows in the near future? I actually didn't release my song "Rain," but instead, I posted a rough version on Instagram, YouTube, and SoundCloud. I'm just about the get started planning some performance dates around the country, so keep in touch, and I'll let you know where I'll be! Instagram
- Interview: PorterHaus Opens Up About Their Single, "Hallelujah"
We're excited to talk about your release "Hallelujah" and all the visions that came along with it. How did you go about creating the storyline for this track? KZ (Our Frontman) just had a classic feel-good melody inspired by "Johann Sebastian Bach Pachelbel's Canon In D." Then, with the words, he was just trying to keep a positive attitude during rough days. Especially times of going through break up. Basically, waking up with a smile even though everything is shit. KZ wrote this track by himself, but everyone in the band played a big part in how the song was arranged. "Hallelujah" offered many different ambiances for listeners. What was the primary feel you wanted each and every listener to extract from this particular track? Like a walk through your neighborhood on a beautiful day, and you're just drinking up all the beautiful things in life. When you're in tune with everything around you, do you feel that "Hallelujah" has been an extension of your current sound, or do you think that this single differed from what you typically produce as a band? It's really a foundation of what our sound is. When we found that style in the song, it really established for us the direction we wanted to go with the band. Are there any possible collaborations the band would want to work on in the near future? We would love to collaborate with anyone from any genre. Slightly Stoopid or Dirty Heads. Even someone like Daryl Hall, The Carolyn Sills or Orville Peck. Our music taste is very broad. We really love all genres of music. We try to bring a little bit of all the sounds we love into what we create. What can we expect to see from PorterHaus throughout 2020? We are set to tour pretty extensively in the spring and fall. We also have several singles we will release throughout the year. Stay tuned. Listen to "Hallelujah" by PorterHaus here and read our full review of the song here. Instagram
