- Spotlight: Gina Owens New Release, “Should’ve Known Better”
The country-era singer-songwriter Gina Owens had the art of music engraved into her life since age four and grew a love for sounds from that moment. Two decades later, Gina Owens has released her debut album in Nashville, TN, where she crafts a more particular name for herself and her sound. Gina Owens' latest work, "Should've Known Better," sheds light on the painful realities of gut feelings and how they never lie to us. Although her lyricism is quite frank, "Should've Known Better," you can assume the record's tone. Especially since Gina is going through an overload of post-breakup emotions, she couldn't help but express her deepest feelings. With the release of her latest record, "Should've Known Better," Gina Owens never fails to bring something unique to the table. Embracing that she should always remain true to herself and her true feelings, she never shies away from those moments. Her fusion of country and pop shows her unique ability to stay free as an artist. In Gina Owens' recent interview with BuzzMusic, she touches on how she went through multiple drafts of this record, explaining how excited she was to hear the final result. "Anyone who's gone through a bad break knows there are always two sides to the story; their side and what happened." Gina feels that "Should've Known Better" perfectly describes that situation. Gina explains that writing music is therapeutic, being able to jot down her bad experiences and turn them into art. She feels that the passion in her records is vital for her performances and tells us how she enjoys creating records that are honest and full of emotion because of how it amplifies her shows. She plans to continue writing, learning and performing, and with her new singles on the way, we're excited to see what's next for Gina Owens. - Moving In Slow Gives Us Our Next Road Trip Anthem, “Sunrise Sunset”
Florida's Moving In Slow is a musical project of Laurent Chavannes. Dabbling in the rock, alternative, and indie genres, Moving In Slow takes us away with their escapism, poetry, and production displayed. We'll be reviewing their road-trip, indie record titled "Sunrise Sunset." Moving In Slow began releasing independently on SoundCloud and playing shows in and around his hometown. Throughout his involvement in the Miami music scene, Laurent learned about production and began to create music with more perspective. Planning for world domination sonically, and it sounds like they're on the right track! "Sunrise Sunset" has us hooked with the road-trip type feeling we receive from the initial playback. Its escapism feeling and cinematic lyricism kept us entertained and fascinated until the very end. "I’ll say it and just get it off my chest, So I can move on..." is extremely relatable. The record kicks off with Moving In Slow, seeing his ex-lover in a restaurant, singing about how fast the time passes and how quickly people change and grow apart. When he feels bored at home or just in general, he wants to tell her how he feels. All that will help him if he can get these feelings off his chest to move on officially; most of us know these feelings all too well. The harmonious and warm guitar textures on top of the vivid lyricism take this record to different levels. Reminiscing on the moment they shared in his car, smoking together, he could feel that it wouldn't last forever. "Everything was going well, but I couldn't tell you how I felt." He sings that he enjoyed seeing her after all those years. Get nostalgic and reminiscent with Moving In Slow on their recent heartfelt vibe, perfect for your next road-trips playlist. "Sunrise Sunset" is available on all streaming platforms to enjoy. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Moving In Slow. We're so in love with your latest release, "Sunrise Sunset," and the feeling you bring across in it. What sparked the initial direction for this record? Thank you for having me! The song started coming to life after I ran into someone that I had known. We were involved with each other for a little bit, and we just happened to be in the same place at the same time. It was a nice but short encounter, and it had me thinking about the past, so I started coming up with lyrics and melodies once I got home. I’m just talking about how I felt at that moment and some of the things that were going through my mind. "Sunrise Sunset" has us vibed out and entertained to the max! How did you select or create the production for this record? Please explain to us the thought process behind the production. For the overall soundscape, I wanted listeners to feel like they were drowning in sunlight and euphoria. I let the bass carry the chord progression with this one and decided to do less movement with the guitars. I wanted the guitar to be very jangly and chorus-y, so it could sound like it’s coming in and out for the entire song. I have a synth playing a power chord that sustains the whole song, and I feel like the texture and where it sits in the mix helps capture the drowning-in sunlight feeling. I really wanted something shoegaze but with a twist. My producer, Miguel, was able to help me find the sound that I wanted. The cinematic lyricism and vivid pictures painted have blown us away. How do you stay in the zone creatively and create these timeless ideas and melodies? What advice would you give to someone struggling to 'lock in'? It’s all about how I feel! A lot of my songs stem from something personal, so when I’m writing my lyrics, a phrase will come to mind, and I’ll see where it goes. I’ll reflect on why I said that phrase and what the words mean to me. After that, it becomes pretty easy if it’s something I feel strongly about. My melodies are usually me being self-indulgent and creating melodies that I know I would love to listen to on repeat. I love melodies that sound really positive or uplifting, so I tend to write them like that. My advice would be to just say what you want without a filter, analyze what you’re talking about, and roll with what comes out. Moving In Slow is such a unique name; what were the motifs behind the name, and what is your sole purpose as a musician or artist? Moving in Slow is the name of a song by A Great Big Pile of Leaves. I really liked the name of the song, and when I was coming up with a name for the project, I went with it. I do feel like it describes me pretty well, though. I like to take my time with a lot of things, so I felt that Moving in Slow would be perfect. As a musician, I just want to make music! Whether I’m playing live or recording in a studio, I love to make music. I love producing songs and making decisions on things that go into making them. What's next for you? Live shows and more songs! More things in general. I want to start making videos and other things associated with Moving in Slow. I’m currently working on the next song I’m going to release, and I’m excited because I’ve had this one on hold for more than two years. So stay tuned for that! Instagram Twitter
- Just Tommy Wants to Know, “What Would You Do?”
Flooding our speakers with relatable themes is Tempe-based singer-songwriter and thought-provoking recording artist Just Tommy with his new single, "What Would You Do?" We've become a huge fan of Just Tommy's stylings over the years, and his catchy tunes with profound meanings never fail to get to us. He's known for bringing personal matters to the stage that anyone can relate to, especially in the busy and chaotic modern world. This time around, Just Tommy packs an anxiety-fuelled punch with his new single, "What Would You Do?" The song's music video expands on that theme further, where Tommy becomes toxically obsessed with a car. The video represents the things we attach ourselves to, and the song is "the embodiment of my relationship with anxiety," says Just Tommy. Produced by Chuck Alkazian, "What Would You Do?" kicks off with an upbeat 80s synthpop vibe that pummels our speakers with energy. As Just Tommy takes the stage, he expands on the desire he felt for someone (or something) that changed his life. The atmosphere is exhilarating, and Just Tommy's vocals are the cherry on top of this relatable spiral of a song. The music video produced by Cheyanne and Chloe from C&C Productions takes the song's theme one step further. While falling head over heels for a car and obsessing a little too much, Just Tommy builds this oddly toxic relationship and feels the need to hit the road 24/7. When he ends up locking himself out, he's left picking up the pieces of what he got himself into. There's so much to take away from Just Tommy's new single and music video, "What Would You Do?" Find the song on all digital streaming platforms and the music video on YouTube. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Just Tommy. We genuinely appreciate the relatable concept within your new single, "What Would You Do"? Did recurring anxious moments inspire this song? What led you to create it? Thanks for having me back! The single is rooted in anxious moments in my life. The concept of the single is about my relationship with my anxiety. There's a push/pull dynamic that I wanted to talk about. The funny thing is I didn't set out to engineer the song to have the message that it does. For me, it's all about submitting and letting the content flow, as opposed to trying to control the content. When the process was complete, I had this rad single that just needed a video. What was it like working with Cheyanne and Chloe from C&C Productions for the "What Would You Do?" music video? How did they help bring your ideas to life? Working with C&C Productions on the music video was amazing! Chloe & Cheyanne are invaluable members of "Team JUST TOMMY." We had a pre-planning call where I walked them through the concept of the single and some very fragmented ideas. What's great about the way we work together is they took my ideas and interpreted them into a story for the video, which was still in the same realm but allowed us to tell it in a slightly different way from the single. What inspired the car's symbolism in the music video for "What Would You Do?" What does it represent? The car in the video is the physical representation of my anxiety. I have a sliding scale of like 1 to 10 for my anxiety. One is nervous energy, and 10 is the panic monster mode. I can handle a 1 - nervous energy is where I draw most of my creativity from. Ten, on the other hand...that's no bueno. The car represents that progression as the story unfolds in the video. What do you want the listener to think or reflect on after hearing "What Would You Do"? What themes do you hope they take away? For people listening to the single or watching the video, my goal is for you to just experience it. Let your mind go where it wants to go and take from it what you will, and give it the theme that's relevant to you. What's next for you? I'm glad you asked! My team and I have heaps of stuff in the works right now - I'm about to shoot the music video for my upcoming single "Best Friend" with C&C Productions. I just finished putting my wardrobe together for it last night! The video & single release is on July 8th, with the Exclusive Premiere on Rock at Night Magazine (rockatnight.com) on July 7th. I'm also working on getting live show dates booked in Phoenix for the July/August timeframe and Florida in September/October. I just upgraded my live show from a solo set to include a live drummer. This is exciting for me because I want to be able to feature local musicians from the places I go to. It helps keep overhead costs down, but the primary idea behind this strategy is to play live with different musicians. To me - that's exciting! Instagram Facebook
- Naol Gets Personal In His New Cathartic EP, ‘Dismal Summer’
From South Africa to Canada, the empowering recording artist and singer-songwriter Naol shares his personal battles with mental illness in a euphoric 4-track EP, 'Dismal Summer.' Naol is so stranger to hardship. Having lost his father at an early age led him to endure serious mental health issues, getting diagnosed with depression and psychosis. After dropping out of school and sports due to an overdose, he looked to music for help. It didn't take long for Naol to find his calling when creating music. Now, he's sharing his story of vulnerability, mental illness, and inspiration to keep moving forward with his latest EP entitled 'Dismal Summer.' The project opens with a dreamy and chilling introductory track, "Entities of Hope," floating through our speakers with a soulful organ, sci-fi-esque synths, and airy hip-hop drums. Right off the bat, we can hear similarities to acts like A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi through Naol's warm, tender vocals and honest lyrical approach. We're so impressed with the hazy yet punchy atmosphere this song offers; it's the perfect way to kick off such a personal, cathartic, yet well-rounded project. Jumping into the EP's second track, "Frightened," Naol slows things down a bit with a woozy keyboard melody, reverbed drums, and a lush, downtempo pace. Listening to Naol's soothing and comforting vocals, he begins vocalizing what's keeping him up and night, what's keeping him "Frightened." This track offers a similar hazy atmosphere but takes a far more personal and emotional approach that any listener can relate with. We truly appreciate the honesty Naol brings to this track; he makes it incredibly easy to connect with his conceptual lyrics. Moving onto the EP's second half with the third track, "Gone Too Soon," Naol continues that same mysterious and dark atmosphere with a unique synth arrangement and haunting instrument samples. This song chills us to the bone with Naol's personal lyrics that cover his thoughts and feelings when coping with the death of his father. Simply put, if you hear this song and don't feel like your heart is breaking at Naol's vulnerable and poetic words, chances are you're a heartless robot. The serene and dark instrumentals perfectly reflect all the pain and suffering in this piece. Landing on the EP's fourth and final track, "Psychosis," Naol closes the EP on an incredibly relatable note. He opens the song with the dreamiest instrumentals that range from smooth hip-hop to modern lo-fi. As he begins to express himself, Naol touches on feeling like the whole world is against him thanks to the voices in his head. Toward the song's end, he accepts that he doesn't live an ordinary life but questions why he was chosen to endure such strife. God, the universe, whatever you believe in, tests the strongest people with the hardest challenges, and Naol's situation is no exception. We were genuinely moved after experiencing such an honest and personal project like this, and we only hope you have the same experience. Find Naol's relatable and diary-esque EP, 'Dismal Summer,' on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Naol. We've truly never experienced something so personal and intimate as your recent EP, 'Dismal Summer.' When did you begin feeling inspired to create this emotional and heartfelt project? What led you to create it? To be honest, I had plans to work on an album with a friend of mine since March. The name of the album was supposed to be "Remember That You Must Die," an English translation of the Latin phrase "Memento Mori." I planned to discuss themes such as loss, poverty, mental illness, and many other things that happen in our mortal lives. However, I discontinued the project and decided to release an EP called Dismal Summer, which stems from the pain I experience in life through my medication (Entities of Hope), daily thoughts (Frightened), loss of my father (Gone Too Soon), and psychotic tendencies (Psychosis). Did you create the 'Dismal Summer' EP entirely solo? Or did you have any other ears help you navigate through the process? Yes, I did. The songwriting, production, engineering, and even the recording were done by me at my home in either my room or kitchen. I had some input from my family and friends, but the creative process was entirely done by me. Considering the 'Dismal Summer' EP is incredibly vulnerable and emotional, did you face any challenges being so open when creating your songs? Or was this easy for you to do? I think I was scared initially of what people may think or what future employers would say, but to be frank, this is my life. I can say my truth and my story and hopefully allow others to resonate with it as well. I feel like my life experience is not extraordinary, but rather a slight inspiration for those to keep going regardless of the incessant noise they hear. Which song from 'Dismal Summer' was the toughest to create in terms of emotions? How were you able to get through the process? Creating all the songs came naturally to me. Having the title/theme of the song thought up before making the beat or writing the lyrics allowed me to have a focal point. I wrote what correlated with it and tried to evoke my thoughts in a way that mean something and make others feel what I feel. My emotions directed the process, but it didn't hinder it, if you know what I mean. What do you hope the 'Dismal Summer' EP does for listeners? What impact do you want the project to have on your audience? I hope my EP will align with those who do experience the words I mentioned within my songs. This is my first EP with vocals, so I'm not sure how big of an impact I can make, but if I can garner an audience who enjoys my alternative style of music and resonate with my lyrics/story, then I think I've done my part. Although I try to keep a similar concept when releasing new songs, there are always changes as my music style continues to evolve. The newest release from General Ed. “Calypso” is a fun, light-hearted rock song that is sure to have anyone dancing along. With jubilant guitar riffs and passionate vocals, “Calypso” sucks you in from the start. After the mood-lifting musical introduction, General Ed. comes in with expressive lyrics about feeling stuck. Greek mythology influences are apparent in the lyrics, referring to a girl who is forever “stuck in limbo” on an island, unable to leave. Although you can feel the emotion in the songwriting, “Calypso” still has a breezy, easygoing feel. With a musical bridge full of high-pitched, fun acoustic and catchy electric guitar, there is never a dull moment with “Calypso.” The creative addition of beach sounds during a bridge slowdown will instantly transport you to a sandy shore of your choosing. “Calypso” ends with more classic guitar and atmospheric vocals, the perfect end to a compelling and unforgettable song. Check out “Calypso,” the upbeat and stimulating new single out now, along with General Ed.’s album “Spoon-Fed” coming soon. Welcome to BuzzMusic, General Ed. I.t was a pleasure listening to “Calypso” can you tell us your intentions behind this song? How did you want your listeners to feel after hearing it? Gabriel: Thank you so much! We really appreciate it. Our intentions behind the song were to make people feel comfortable and understand what it’s like to live in Southern California, where literally everywhere you live is about 30-40 miles from a beach. We’ve really never created a song that wasn’t just a gain-infested rock song, so by making this song, we wanted to show people that we also appreciate the beach scene that comes with living about 20-60 miles from San Diego and or Newport Beach. Michael: I think the song gives off a very light and relaxed but also fun feeling, and I get this image of people having a good time at the beach just enjoying some time in the sun. We kinda wanted to show this in the music video for Calypso, so we decided to film it at the Beach at Coronado near San Diego, and that was a fun time. You mention that you have a home studio for producing your songs. What is this process like? How did you come up with the musical concepts for “Calypso?" Michael: Yes, we have a home studio we set up at the house where Gabriel and I live, and we record everything there. Our goal was to have all the creative freedom and the time we needed to produce these new songs for our new album very intentionally. When we go into the studio to record, it’s a very casual yet prepared process. We usually set aside a day to focus on recording the music to a new song, and either Gabriel or myself will bring our ideas to the table, and we’ll work through the song together and record the drums first, followed by the rhythm guitars and bass. Then we start having fun layering more instruments and sounds on top until we feel like the song is complete. As for the vocal tracking for these songs, having a home studio has given me plenty of time to focus on perfecting our melodies and using as many takes as I need when recording. After a song is all recorded, I then take some time to mix the song, and we listen to it together to make sure it sounds finished. As for the musical concepts for Calypso, they came from that main riff that Gabriel made. The riff gave off a distinct California beach sound, and Gabriel and I started to build the rest of the song off that beach rock sound. Recording at home has really given us the opportunity to be patient and let our ideas and songs marinate until we have a finished creation that we are proud of. Where do you typically draw inspiration from when songwriting? What gave you the idea for “Calypso” and the Greek influence behind it? Michael: Both Gabriel and I write the songs for the band, so we have different methods and influences that play a part in our songwriting, but I’d say we write about topics and emotional experiences that hit home for us or we that consider being important or thought-provoking. Musically we always like to make fun of guitar music because that’s what we really love, but we also like to draw from many types of music as well since we all have slightly different tastes in music. Gabriel: As for the Greek influence in “Calypso,” we’re a pretty well-read group of people like all of our band members have a degree or are getting a degree in humanities, so this song can be seen as an allusion to The Odyssey at times. The way that Odysseus felt when trapped on an island away from home is kind of a cool concept to explore and write about, so we decided to take that route lyrically and musically to go more toward how it actually feels to be fully engulfed in the beach culture for a couple of days straight. How does the rest of your album “Spoon-Fed” compare with your single “Calypso?" Michael: Oh, that’s a good question. Our new album is full of different types of songs and sounds, and we definitely pulled from many of our different musical influences when making these new songs. Gabriel and I had songs and ideas that we had been working on for a while, and I think we ended up making a very diverse and dynamic album with songs that are a bit more stripped-down blues-rock, songs that are more produced, and grand-sounding, and even a couple acoustic ones. It’s definitely going to be a fun and cohesive listen all the way through, but I’d say that Calypso is a stand-out track that is very much different from anything we’d made before. What's next for you? Michael: Ya, so we are releasing our second single for the album really soon, and we are really excited for our new album, “Spoon-Fed,” and for these new songs we’ve been working on for a long time to finally be officially released on July 22nd. It has been a long process making this album, and we are really happy with the way it turned out, and we can’t wait to start playing these songs live, and for the many experiences, we have to come. They invite listeners to experience and find relatable themes with their thrilling releases, like their latest 11-track album, 'Panther Island.' The album's two lead singles, "Grenadine" and "How I Am," are solid starting points to better understand what The Unlikely Candidates are all about. Hitting play on "Grenadine," the experience begins with bright and buzzy synth-like guitars that glitter and gleam with vast emotion. As the lead vocalist begins pouring his charismatic and energetic vocals through our speakers, he brings sensual and emotional themes of missing how someone tastes and wishing he could relive those precious moments with someone dear. The Unlikely Candidates smash through our speakers with a powerful alternative-rock sound that's paired with dazzling hints of electro-pop and punk. It's an anthemic earworm that we wouldn't trade for anything. Jumping into the second tune, "How I Am," we're met with hazy vocal samples alongside mysterious and dark electro-pop production. As the heavy alternative instrumentals begin crashing through our speakers, the lead vocalist takes the song by the horns and explains that he'd rather be sad than happy on demand. This song carries a theme that many can relate to; it speaks about keeping it real, and not "real" as in being smiley, happy, and social 24/7. The Unlikely Candidates bring major Fall Out Boy energy in this track, but their unique mixture of alternative rock, punk, electro-pop, and more is quite the refreshing aspect. If you're ready to find your new favorite, versatile group, we'd point you toward The Unlikely Candidates and their hit singles "Grenadine" and "How I Am." Find both tracks and many more on the band's latest album, 'Panther Island,' now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, The Unlikely Candidates. We'd like to start by congratulating you on the release of your recent album, 'Panther Island.' What inspired your group to create this album? We were on tour when the COVID-19 pandemic was announced. Like everyone else, we headed home and had a lot of time on our hands. We decided to make use of it, so we called up our producer and told him we wanted to make an album. We didn't have the pressure of time constraints, so we took our time and were able to experiment with new sounds and styles. Regarding the album's fifth track, "How I Am," what inspired the honest lyrical content? What life experiences led you to create this track? At the beginning of 2021, one of my best friends committed suicide. I was devastated. I felt a lot of guilt and anger. I didn't want to be around anyone or leave my room. I wrote the song about how I was feeling at the time. It was painful to write, and I wasn't sure I even wanted to put it out. But I figured if it could help anyone get through the same type of thing I was going through, we should put it out. On the sixth track, "Grenadine," your band brings quite a unique sound. Why did you want to add elements of modern electro-pop into your instrumentals? Do you usually explore these modern sounds in the studio? We just try new things and if they sound good, we roll with it. There was no specific reason we added those sounds - it's just an experiment that panned out. We do like to play with new sounds, though. It keeps us interested and our songs current. Why did you feel that "Grenadine" and "How I Am" should be on the 'Panther Island' album? How do both songs tie into the album's theme and vibe? Honestly, if a song is good, we will use it. We try not to limit ourselves to any particular genre or style. I have a pretty distinct voice, so, thankfully, it ties the songs on the album together well. Both songs have a modern and melancholy vibe and are emotionally informed by loss, so I guess that ties them together, as well as creating that theme on the album. What was your end goal with 'Panther Island'? What experience did you want to offer listeners, and what did you want them to take away? I wanted to give our fans songs for how they are feeling at any time. Songs to be sad too, songs for happy days, songs of loss and love, songs to be lazy too, songs to dance and party to. We live dynamic lives, so hopefully, the album can mirror that. Instagram Facebook

I always put a lot of work and thought into the production, planning, themes, and concepts for the songs/videos released. I’m always excited about the listeners' experience. Once you heard the final version of "Emotionless" for the first time, what were the immediate thoughts you had? Did the song come to fruition as you initially envisioned it would? In some ways, relief. After a long process of tinkering and adjusting, scrutinizing every aspect of production, it’s amazing to get the song as close as possible to where you envisioned it. I think this song surpassed my original expectations. When I got to a certain point in the process, I knew it was the song I wanted to roll with, develop and unleash into the world. As an artist that plays around with the electronic/dance genre with confidence, would you say there was ever a time when developing an alternative spin on the genre was a challenge rather than something that came naturally to you as an artist? Right at the beginning. I had been experimenting with songwriting and recording. I recorded a couple of songs, and I thought they really stood out and were unlike anything I had heard before. I knew that was the style and direction I wanted to take. It took some time, trial and error, and being receptive to criticism. I feel the past few singles I’ve released have really offered listeners something truly new and unique we can all experience together. How would you describe your ultimate experience in the music industry so far? As an electronic-based music artist, would you say there are any advantages or disadvantages you experience within the industry? It’s been a really long but enjoyable road most of the time. When you connect with people, it reminds and re-energizes you. One thing that has been very positive is how unique my music sounds. When it catches a listener, they are immediately interested in what I’m sharing with them. What can be a challenge sometimes is also that unique infusion of genres. Radio is very tight with brand/genre and programming. Planning a live show can be interesting in that way too, when trying to decide what kind of show you want to put on with styles and artists. It has also been a great strength as well. That infusion has enabled me to play live with artists from all sorts of genres and styles. What's next for you? I’ll continue doing what I love to do. I have some more singles/videos to release this year and continue to play and book live shows. Instagram Facebook
- Vinlisa Tells Us Why It’s Only “You”
Vinlisa's soft and smooth voice has us frantic in her new single, "You." Her perfect R&B vibes have us nostalgic, and with such bold instrumentals, we're in for a great ride. Exploring the depths of R&B, singer-songwriter Vinlisa produces intoxicating art and a sensual journey into the mind of a young woman at the peak of her powers. Now based in Los Angeles, Vinlisa spent her formative days studying music in New Orleans. That experience opened many doors for the Cambodian-American artist and allowed her to evolve and progress as an individual. With records like "He Like It" gaining attention on Spotify and her audience multiplying, her place among the stars is guaranteed. Adding to this promise is her newest single, "You."Starting to set ablaze, Vinlisa proves her value once again. She sings with emotion and hope as she says, "I need you right now," Vinlisa's tone is music to our ears (literally) as she sings about what she'll do for her partner and how the things he does makes her happy to be with him. Vinlisa continues to mention how she wishes she had more time with him in lyrics like "Wonder if you'd stay for a while" and "Never wanna lose on our time," and now it's getting even more relatable. She then says how the experience they had together was so unique and unforgettable, and as we round off, she repeats, "I got you," and isn't that all the confirmation we want from who we love? "You" is fantastically formulated with the perfect mixture of a highly appealing beat and vocals so bold it has us staring at the ceiling, missing someone we haven't seen in years. We love a structural song with passion and drive, and Vinlisa pulled that off perfectly. We are so amped for you to hear this smashing song, "You." Let's keep the love flowing with Vinlisa's new hit single, "You," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Vinlisa. We are so happy you could join us today! We love your new song "You" please tell us what inspired your creative process was like when writing this record and what was the most fun part of creating it? First of all, thank you so much for having me! I think it’s funny when people ask what inspired my new song because they assume it’s about a certain someone when in reality, it’s me creating a fantasy that I’ve wanted. So, that was the headspace I was in for “You,” and my producer Jack showed me a vocal loop he chopped up. I hummed some melodies and sang some lines, and the song progressed. The best part of the process was the chorus, which was a last-minute input that we layered and layered with harmonies to create the ambiance of the entire song. "You" has some memorable moments as well as relatable. What did you want your listeners to take away from it? I wanted to create a sultry song from a female’s perspective. So, if anything, I want my ladies to feel empowered and sexy. Sometimes, similar songs from a male’s perspective can be degrading, and it kind of kills the whole vibe. That’s why “You” is one for the girlies. What was it like moving from New Orleans to California? Are there any memorable experiences you'd like to share with us? The move from New Orleans to Los Angeles was a process: financially, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve always wanted to move to LA because I enjoyed the idea of starting fresh, living in a big city, and being around other creatives. The most memorable experience I had during my process of moving to LA was when I stayed in Oakland temporarily with Jack. We spent a lot of our time exploring the Bay area and being in nature. It was the mental reset I needed before we headed off to LA to start living the dream. R&B and pop seem like your main genres to listen to, or are there any other genres you like dabbling into? Yes, those two are my biggest genres, in addition to rap. Other than that, I’m open to all types of music as long as it has a nice tune. I’ve also been venturing outside of R&B and pop a little for the upcoming songs I’ve been working on, so I’m excited to catch everyone’s reaction for these next few releases. What's next for you? At the moment, I am still up and coming so I would like to gain more traction by being more consistent as an artist. In other words, my next moves will be performing at more showcases, posting more singles, and growing my social media platforms. I plan on releasing an R&B album once I feel like I’m in a comfortable position to let my hard work go out in the world. Instagram Facebook
- Tommy Charles Revs Our Summer Engines in “Lookin’ Like That”
Hailing from Quebec, Canada, is a singer-songwriter and country recording artist Tommy Charles with his feel-good summer single, "Lookin' Like That." Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Tommy Charles always had a profound passion for country music coursing through his veins. That passion transferred over to his solo career, leading him to the finals of the hit TV show La Voix (The Voice.) Now, Tommy Charles shows us what he's made of in a new and lively single, "Lookin' Like That." The song was created with help from a few industry heavyweights like Jim Beavers (Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan), Drake Milligan, Grammy-nominated songwriter Deric Ruttan (Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley), and Mitch Merrett (Chad Brownlee, Aaron Pritchett). Together, the team and Tommy Charles take us back to good old classic country tunes with old-fashioned twang and charm. Listening to "Lookin' Like That," the song energetically pierces open with bright electric guitars, lively fiddles, upbeat drums, and Tommy Charles's exciting vocals. As he jumps into his verse, he switches tones and shows us his broad and charming vocal range. His lyrics are incredibly playful, and it's the perfect listening experience before a night of summer thrills. The song's instrumentation is so broad yet so classic; it has all the sounds and feelings of what a kickass country song should. Tommy Charles keeps us locked into his charismatic and energetic performance that leaves us smiling from ear to ear. This song will do the trick if you're looking for a feel-good and refreshing summer anthem. Get your body moving with a dance-worthy tune like Tommy Charles's new single, "Lookin' Like That," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Tommy Charles. We love the excitement and passion you bring in your new single, "Lookin' Like That." What do you love about this playful and upbeat summer anthem? When I first heard it, it was an instant favorite. There is something so easygoing and funny about the lyrics and the mood of it seems to be taken straight out of a Brooks and Dunn album from the 90s. Really, I think it’s about not taking ourselves too seriously when it comes to our relationships and being grateful that we get to spend time with amazing, funny, and, in this case, VERY good-looking people. It’s about the magic you feel and the butterflies you get in your stomach when you spend a night dancing and partying with someone you really like. Mitch Merrett was the one who recommended the song to me, and I’m sure glad he did. What was it like working with a few industry heavyweights for "Lookin' Like That"? Could you describe your experience? It is very humbling and inspiring. Everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring ‘’Lookin’ Like That’’ to the people has been 100% dedicated to the process. It is fascinating how people who have seen it all in the industry, artists and entrepreneurs who have been doing this for ages, still honor this song as if it was their very first breakthrough project. Being around them has been so moving, and felt so right to me, that I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I want to do this, wholeheartedly, for the rest of my life. The lyrics in "Lookin' Like That" are so fun and playful. What do you hope new fans take away from the song? As plain as it could sound, I hope they have fun! I hope they don’t take themselves too seriously and that they cherish the people they have in their lives for the time they’re allowed to spend with them. If it’s Friday night, I hope they take somebody out and have the best night of their lives! What was it like shooting the music video for the song and who did you work with? Was this your first time creating a music video? It was indeed my first time. It was an amazing experience! It sure took me out of my comfort zone, as I was not used to acting or flirting in front of the camera at all. In the end, it’s a funny song, so the whole shoot was just as funny. Alberto Marenco is a great director and he put everything together so smoothly that my only concern was to let go of myself and enjoy the ride. The whole film team at Crank is sensational and I’m really looking forward to making more projects with them. What's next for you? The future looks bright ahead! I am more inspired than I’ve ever been before, have just moved to BC to be in the heart of the action and I’m working with an AMAZING team that makes it all possible. Hopefully, I will meet all the fans on the road very soon as more songs are released in the coming months. I wish to invite everybody on board for this country music road trip of a lifetime.
