JMB gives you a piece of his culture through the music. While listening to “A Different World” you instantly feel the magnetic vibe of the smooth-sailing aesthetic of Atlanta. It’s the perfect song to relax to, take a nightly drive and get lost with the music. JMB is bringing back the feeling of raw R&B music that has got lost within the genre-shift. We were able to immediately connect ourselves with “A Different World” and become one unit with the music. There are layered elements to JMB’s vocal delivery that left a hint of unpredictability for the listener. “A Different World” was a riveting song with trailblazing transitions at the right timing to keep you excited and in-tuned with the music. JMB can undeniably be the newest face of R&B music if he continues his consistent streak of natural organic soul music like “A Different World” that will leave its lasting mark on his listeners. You can listen to “A Different World” by JMB here. Welcome to BuzzMusic JMB! Some say that the genre of R&B is the root of music today. Knowing the caliber and great impressions of the style, how do you manage to exceed past the expectations with “A Different World”? What's up, I appreciate you all taking the time to interview me. For me, I just try to be as organic as possible with my music. Most of my music is Rnb influenced but does not necessarily follow the standard formula of what an Rnb song should be. I think my individuality in the genre and my lyrics/subject matter is how I exceed the expectations. How did you manage to fuse your Atlanta influence with your music? Were there any direct influences in your song “A Different World”? Atlanta music is known for having catchy melodies that have crazy replay value and for cadences where the rhyme pattern puts you in a trance. It's hard to deny the fact that the Atlanta formula/sound is an undeniable one. With that being said I always create from the standpoint of making the song memorable so finding the melody and cadence is normally where I start when creating. It's funny because once I finished recording "A Different World" I told my friend it gave off the energy of a Lil Baby or Gunna type record but about love, which wasn't planned by the way lol. We noticed this romantic vibe in the lyrics to “A Different World”. What were your intentions with this song and in what ways were you able to personally relate to the lyrics? My intentions were to create a record that made people feel something. I wanted to give all the lovers out there a record they could turn up to with their special someone. I also wanted to remind everyone out there who is trying to be heartless or too tough to show emotion that it's okay if you find someone who makes you feel a way. I pretty much can relate to the song word for word because I wrote it from the standpoint of what I'm experiencing right now and how the special someone in my life makes me feel. What would you consider to be the most challenging aspect of creating “A Different World” and how did it challenge you? The song really wasn't too challenging to make. During the creation process of the record, everything flowed smoothly and finding the melodies and cadences was pretty seamless. The most challenging part might have been putting lyrics to the song and making sure they were meaningful but still edgy enough to belong on the production of the record. What can fans anticipate next from you JMB? Fans and supporters can just expect more music to drop from the kid. Dropping a record later this month, releasing a project in the summer, and have more singles lined up for after that. I plan to apply pressure all 2020. instagram.com/_jmbmusic_ #BuzzMusic

  • SUMWHR Releases Wavey New R&B Hit “Waste Time”

SUMWHR has a variety of tricks up his sleeve, from songwriting to sound engineering. Hailing from Watts, California on the south side of LA county, formerly known as Nouvelle Vega, and featured on VH1’s “Black Ink Crew”, SUMWHR slings vibey, electro-tinged R&B with undeniable charm. Through relatable songwriting, SUMWHR’s work takes listeners on a journey with him, and catchy beats and melodies make the trip easy. In SUMWHR’s newest single, “Waste Time”, a stylized and distinctive jam - as well as a realistic portrayal of a relationship that needs to come to an end, for the sake of both parties. It’s difficult to avoid singing along to the catchy chorus, synced up with SUMWHR’s lovely vocals and soft beats that tear down the facade of a pointless relationship. “Why (do) you love to waste time?”, SUMWHR asks, and I believe this is a question we’ve been around to ask. Relatable and vibey, those are the words that SUMWHR’s music immediately brings to mind. Listen to "Waste Time" here. instagram.com/Sumwhr #BuzzMusic

  • Bess IV Puts Us In A Trance With His Lo-Fi Single “Temporary”

Chicago based artist Bess IV shares his chill lo-fi Hip Hop with his single “Temporary”. Hailing from Cleveland, Bess IV draws inspiration from staple musicians like; Kid Cudi, Tame Impala, Kevin Abstract, Earl Sweatshirt, and a variety of other artists on a broad spectrum. Currently studying at The Art Institute of Chicago, and specializing in music production, sound engineering, photography, video, and graphic design. Beginning to write at a young age to help cope with his mental health, Bess IV serves as a great inspiration to other aspiring artists, showing them a positive way to channel negative emotions. “Temporary” begins with a psychedelic lo-fi beat, anticipating Bess IV’s chill and soothing flow. The production captures echoey and trance-like effects, letting the song drift through the listener's ear, and into a deeper state of mind. With complex vocal layering, he touches on topics like vulnerability, mood swings, and the effects of growing up surrounded by technology with the depths of the internet at our fingertips. The production provides an incredible ambiance, supported with catchy beat patterns and haunting ghost vocals. Bess IV creates music that deals with personal and relatable subjects, and we’re excited to see what he comes up with next. Listen to "Temporary" by Bess IV here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Bess IV! We’re totally captivated by your chillwave sound, what made you take this path for your brand as an artist? Thank you guys for featuring me first of all! For the most part, I think my brand is still evolving, but the central themes have always been there and are developing and dividing into new interests and subdivisions I guess. I think my music has always had a sense of escapism within it. Music has always been special to me for its ability to take me different places and allow me to feel different, otherworldly things, and my way of creating this sense of immersion is through very reverberant, lush and cinematic sounds. Artists like Kid Cudi, Tame Impala, Vinyl Williams, and earlier Toro y Moi are really good at creating these environments, and they help emphasize the lyrical and emotional content of the songs. Especially Kid Cudi, who not only is from Shaker Heights like I am but has been so influential to me in his ability to merge genres and introduce a sense of vulnerability that wasn’t really apparent or accepted in conventional rap culture. Similarly, a lot of my art, visual and sonic, has to do with the interplay of utopia and dystopia and fluctuations between different extremes, something that I think is very rooted in the current, hyperbolic landscape of the world today and also a result of growing up with the internet and my own experiences with depression and anxiety. “Temporary” brings incredible vibes from the vocals to the production, could you share with us what inspired the track? From a production standpoint, I remember the song “N Side” by Steve Lacy had just came out, and I was super into the laid back nature of it and the percussion was just one loop repeating the whole song, but it set the mood incredibly well and the sounds were perfect for the vibe and mixed really well. Even though I can’t play guitar, I wanted to make something that was in the same vein sonically, I didn’t really know if it was ever gonna come together into a fully fleshed song but it did. Although the sonic tone of the song is laid back, the lyrics are pretty personal and vulnerable. I like to make a lot of stuff where the lyrics kind of contradict what the general tone of the song is, kind of like Kendrick on “Swimming Pools”. Anyways, I wrote the song during a time where from a superficial standpoint, a lot of things in my life were going really well but I still felt really numb and lifeless. I was in a good relationship for the first time in years, mentally I was seeking the help I needed, making strides with my therapist and on medication that was leveling me out, and I was doing well in school and feeling good about my practice. I think the medication contributed to the numbing, but in general, I was still just in a funk. I felt empty and devoid of feelings, emotions, and inspiration and was looking for something to break me out of this and feel less dead inside. It seemed as if I had to sacrifice my ability to feel anything in order to not feel depressed or anxious. This leads me to look for avenues to switch things up, I was doing psychedelics, writing in different places and reading for inspiration. The song sort of documents these different attempts to break out and the struggle of coming to grips with this emptiness. Eventually, after a lot of talks with my mom, who I’m extremely close with, I kind of just had to accept that this feeling would be temporary, and needed to keep things pushing in order to get out of it. How has your writing process grown since you first started back in middle school? Well, first and foremost, my writing has always been about catharsis and releasing some of my innermost frustrations and anxieties in ways that I’m not really capable of in other contexts. As I’ve gotten older, I think I’ve realized how important and therapeutic this process is in maintaining my sanity. Even if it’s not lyrics, the simple act of putting pen to the page is really important to me. However, now that I’m producing all my stuff and can record in my apartment, the process is a little more interactive. Some stuff may seem good on paper but I can never know if it actually works until I record it. Also, because I have the luxury of recording everything from my apartment, sometimes I don’t even write, I’ll just record a few lines and then move to the next ones, which is really freeing and ephemeral, although most of the time I do prefer to write. Also, just by being able to record at home I use my voice as an instrument a lot too, so a lot of those little high pitched chops in the chorus of Temporary are actually me. You’ve been pretty busy with your career and school, do you still find time to play some shows? Any in the near future? I had a few shows in the fall, and have made some guest appearances on others, but no upcoming ones as of yet. Performing live is still pretty new to me, but I’m really hoping I can play more and hone in on that part of my practice within the next few months, I just haven’t had a ton of time to reach out to venue owners and do the legwork to get some spots, but I really want to do more! Thank you for sharing your new music with us Bless IV! Tell us, what can your fans anticipate next? Thank you guys as well! I flip flop a lot on what my next moves are, but I have a few different projects and things that I’m working on and thinking about right now. I have a really big, personal project that doesn’t really have a timetable, but it’s kind of my baby right now. That one I’m gonna take my time with and make sure it’s perfect. In the near future though, I’ve been dropping singles nearly once a month since October as part of this “Ever in Ephemera” series, so I’ll keep doing that for a little while longer. For the summer, I have a few singles planned and am currently working on a more electronic, house type of project that I may release under an alternative alias which I think will be fun. Additionally, I’ve been trying to collaborate with a lot of other artists too, so keep on the lookout for all of that. instagram.com/bess.midwest twitter.com/Bess_IV #BuzzMusic

  • Angel T. Makes Us Dance with Chill Modern Rap Single “Le Chateau”

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Angel T. is an up and coming Canadian hip hop artist. He has always had a passion for music and likes to incorporate “suave Salvadorano” backgrounds to his rap verses. Angel T. is known for his natural ability to create a catchy melody that people can dance to accompany his vocals. Through his music, Angel T.’s ultimate goal is to be able to connect with and motivate his audience by using his lyrics to express his beliefs and ideas. With “Le Chateau,” Angel T. has created a chill rap, hip hop song that will have fans bopping their heads to his beat. He flows between an R&B style relaxed rap and a higher energy hip hop style with fluidity throughout the song. The backtrack remains steady during “Le Chateau” with a simple beat and piano cords creating a subtle melody. Angel T. represents his home country well by including a small bilingual aspect to his song “Le Chateau.” He spends most of the song singing about the physical beauty of a woman. The woman seems to allure him and make him feel vulnerable. He then switches the message of the song to living on a whim and enjoying life as he repeats the phrase “only for the night.” Lyrically, he highlights the importance of seizing the moment and embracing high energy and no pressure lifestyle. Angel T. sings about meeting his current flame at “Le Chateau” during the chorus. Angel T. brings his audience a rap song they will be dancing too while he celebrates a partying lifestyle. Listen to “Le Chateau” here. Can you describe to us what your goal was in creating this song? What message did you want to send? "Le Chateau" was produced to be a fun and sexy vibe that you can party or chill to. As a Gemini, this record would fall towards the suave, fun, easy-going side of my personality. I wanted to showcase that while being able to create a safe and comfortable environment for the ladies. I wanted to make sure that my song had a raw vibe you could let loose to, but wasn't derogatory towards anybody. You referenced your home town the 6ix (Toronto) during “Le Chateau.” How has growing up in a big city like Toronto impacted your career as a musician? Growing up in Toronto has had a huge impact on my career as a musician. Over the 26 years of my life, I've been able to experience a wide range of cultures. I have many friends with various backgrounds, so growing up I was exposed to tons of different kinds of music. It's not uncommon for us to be jamming to reggaeton, dancehall, reggae, soca, r&b, classic rock, pop or even electronic music! I was born in 94 so naturally, as my friends and I got older we started to develop an attraction to hip hop. It wasn't long after that before I fell in love with it. All of these factors have played into my unique style of vocals and version of "Toronto Slang" you'll hear in my records. Not to mention being Canadian gave me a slight french influence, hence the name "Le Chateau". You have said that you want to use your music to influence your audience to take on life’s challenges. Can you elaborate on how your music inspires your fans? Why is this important to you? To me, what makes a good song is the song's ability to make you feel something. When I write a song and invest time into producing the record from start to finish, I want to create a special vibe I can share with everyone I know. I always aim to create a vibe that gives you a couple of minutes where you can just enjoy yourself. If I can help make your day that much better, then I'm happy. Music can be inspirational in many different ways, there's nothing like putting on one of your favorite songs when you need to get on a certain wavelength. That's why it is so important to me that my music inspires people, especially in a positive way. As I release more projects, I hope to be able to continue doing so. “Le Chateau” has been successfully gaining more listens every day! Can you tell your audience what we can expect from you in the future? I am super grateful for everyone who's been supporting the record, it means a lot to me. I'll be dropping my second single "Caliente" very shortly, so stay tuned to all of my socials, especially Instagram and Twitter. instagram.com/realangelt #BuzzMusic

  • Get Ready to Vibe With Kojau’s 5 Track EP 'Vacation Love'

Pop / R&B artist Kojau is starting 2020 with fireworks after releasing his highly anticipated EP, 'Vacation Love' with co-artist, Glou. This being the first of 3 EP’s to be released this year. Kojau is expanding his sound as a vocalist and musician and constantly evolves by working with other talented artists. He is passionate about getting fans involved in the creative process and having them positively influence his music. He thrives on exploring different sounds: each EP this year provides a different tone. With precise storytelling, Kojau and Glou have set quite the vibe with the release of 'Vacation Love'. The EP begins with a calming ukulele tune, “Shoreside”, complete with dreamy imagery about finding love with someone by the ocean. The song makes a serene start to the EP and serves as the perfect intro track to the projects' overall vacation theme. The track comes to an end with white noise and sounds of flicking between radio stations (ironically, the songs are all Kojau and Glou’s), and sounds of waves crashing on the shore. Perfectly transitioning into the upbeat track “Bayside”, captures Kojau and Glou’s R&B sound. The song lyrics serve a fun-loving message about meeting a girl on vacation and establishing a romantic connection that seems too good to be true. With a modern beat supporting the 'Vacation Love' theme, the next track “Cookie” serves a similar message with more of an island sound, incorporating a marimba-type beat. This track also perfectly supports the theme of “Vacation Love”, providing lyrics that portray the developed feelings for the girls they met while staying in Miami, Florida. With the last musical track, “Cognac”, Kojau and Glou continue the theme of beachside dreams with a catchy Pop / R&B beat. With lyrics like “Vacation’s where I should be, dreams about you and me, if only it was meant to be”, the song brings storytelling to the theme of summer love, and realizing how valuable vacation is, and not wanting to go back to reality. The outro track, “Tiki Talkin” ties the albums together. 'Vacation Love' is an exceptionally authentic EP that produces beachside imagery. Kojau and Glou have perfectly captured the theme of summer love through exceptional lyrical storytelling, complex and catchy production techniques, and meticulous track listing. The EP 'Vacation Love' is one to take a listen to. Listen to 'Vacation Love' here. Hey Kojau, Welcome to BuzzMusic! We’re incredibly excited to feature your latest EP 'Vacation Love'! Could you share with us how you and Glou found inspiration for the EP? The EP started coming together when we made Cookie last summer. We wanted to capture a laidback beach vibe and just tell a funny love story. Once we made Cognac, we knew we wanted to make a whole project and what followed was Bayside, which was the final track that brought it all together. You’ve mentioned that you develop as an artist by co-working with other artists. Is there any genre in particular that you feel your music best coincides with? Overall, my goal as an artist is to push myself to experiment with different genres that I love and find ways to put my spin on things. But ultimately, my voice sits very comfortably in a contemporary R&B/cloud rap mixture the best, I'd say. You have quite a broad sound to your music, who were some major influences and inspirations for you as an artist? My inspirations are vast, but just to name a few, I'd say Kanye West, Mr Carmack, Mac Miller, and Childish Gambino. Kanye West is number one because he wasn't the best rapper, but he made some of the most complete music I heard growing up, and he was a trailblazer for the transition from gangsta rap, and 808s and Heartbreaks helped kickstart the current trend of hip hop. You’re working on 2 other EP’s to be released this year! That’s quite impressive! How do you find time to balance your career as an artist with your personal life? It's definitely a challenge managing my time, but as I've been making music for almost 6 years now, I have a very consistent workflow, and I set up a studio space in my basement, so I can take 30 minutes or so out of my day and punch out ideas. Whenever I'm out and about, I carry a few of my songs and beats with me and listen to them, critiquing them and writing lyrics. Your sound is extremely catchy and definitely something to see live. Are there any upcoming shows or tours in the near future? We are planning to get some shows (and maybe some merch) out as early as this upcoming summer, but nothing is set in stone just yet! • Alisha Pace Releases Self-Love Country Anthem “Like I Like Me”

Born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas, Alisha Pace brings bubbly, sassy energy to her country music. It was clear from a young age that Alisha was meant for a stage and spotlight; her mother claims she used to “sing herself to sleep in her crib.” Alisha Pace began performing at a community theatre at age 8 in musical theatre, then soon transitioned into vocals. Although she maintained her acting career, Alisha put the majority of her focus on her country music career. She competed across Texas throughout high school before she ended up recording for a local label “SingTop10.” After completing her bachelor’s degree, Alisha formed a band that has been successful in competing and performing in Waco, Texas. Currently, she is living in Nashville and focusing on performing locally and co-writing her new music, including her recent release “Like I Like Me.” “Like I Like Me" starts with an upbeat instrumental, made up of a spaced-out drum beat and electric guitar. Alisha Pace spotlights her energetic voice from the start of “Like I Like Me,” and it only continues to impress her listeners. As the drumbeat picks up the guitar melody also fills the background, along with various small percussion sounds. Occasionally, the background music ceases to emphasize certain lyrics. The combination of the playful instrumental and vibrant vocals makes “Like I Like Me” a song you will want to shimmy your shoulders too. Alisha Pace captures her audience through her lyrics; her radiating confidence is simply contagious. “Like I Like Me” is an anthem of self-love that will boost your spirits with one listen. She sings about a love interest, validates many common human emotions, and emphasizes the importance of liking herself first. Alisha Pace sends an inspiring message to her audience about prioritizing their happiness in her new, sprightly song “Like I Like Me.” Listen to “Like I Like Me" here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Alisha! We are huge fans of your inspiring message in your new release “Like I Like Me.” Can you elaborate on your message and what it means to you? Hi Buzz!! Absolutely! Thankful to have my music noticed by y'all! As a single 20-something, I've been guilty of falling in "like" quite regularly, while dating. "Like I Like Me" champions the idea of setting some priorities in the dating game, and also being in "like" with yourSELF. Cause, no matter how much you like a person, if they're treating you poorly, it's time to activate your self-like and move the heck on. :) Although country music is your favorite genre, you mentioned that you also love CCM, Jazz, Acoustic, Pop-Rock, and Broadway. Do you find that your love for these genres influences your music style at all? Oh one hundred p! I believe that what you listen to as a young person in the world has a forever and nostalgic impact on what your ears gravitate to and where your mind tends to go while writing, both melodically and lyrically. You spent a summer in Nashville, then after completing your education in Texas, you moved back to Nashville. Can you tell us why you chose this place as a hub for creating your music? What does Nashville mean to you? When I interned in Nashville for a summer, I was working in sales for a dental distribution company. Every day after work, I'd go to some show and I'd see these girls on a stage doing what I had wanted to do my whole life. I'd watch them and I would think, "I could do this..I really think I could do this." It's like this city just has some type of magic that can't be ignored, that tells you that anything might be possible. In that way, Nashville has changed my life and changed me forever. And I couldn't stay away. You have competed in a variety of events including season 11 of American Idol. What was your most memorable competition, and how has it affected the type of artist you are today? American Idol tops all of them. It taught me that committing to working on something really does have value. When I got the ticket, it was under the premise that I still had some work to do on my voice. In between then and Hollywood, I was more committed to the voice lessons that I’d ever been before. Through that, I learned for the first time that the voice really is a muscle, and can change and grow in range and ability, when you work it out. I owe any vocal ability I may have to just getting the golden ticket. What can fans expect next from you, Alisha Pace? Thank you for being here and talking with us. We can't wait to hear your next move! I have a couple of things planned for the year! A music video, an EP with four more songs, and a potential YouTube series with an alter-ego named Delisha. instagram.com/heyalishapace facebook.com/heyalishapace alishapace.com #BuzzMusic

  • Graywater Releases Latest Single, “By Now, Somehow” — and We Are Hooked

Indie/rock trio Graywater is back with their latest upbeat single, “By Now, Somehow”. Consisting of the musical influences of Alex Hicks, Graham Queen, and Alex Patten, the group participated in two cross Canadian tours with their other band.  They have no intention to stop creating music with different groups with different sounds. Prior to the release of “By Now, Somehow”, Graywater released two rock anthem singles, as well as an old-fashioned cover for “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. These accomplishments demonstrate the group’s ability to work within a variety of genres. It is evident that “By Now, Somehow” perfectly displays the group's authentic and professional sound. “By Now, Somehow” begins with the strumming of a bright electric guitar and a foot-stomping kick drum. As different drum patterns change the song’s tempo, the verse provides clear-cut vocals.  The combination perfectly captures every word from the vocalist. The track includes themes of love and loss, as well as difficulties in dealing with the hardships that come with love. With lyrics like, “When I decide that the light has died, will you be there when the black sun’s done rising?”. While incorporating a few whaling power chords, Graywater has definitely mastered the art of songwriting. With new music in 2020, we’re looking forward to the band’s next move. Stream "By Now, Somehow" on Spotify. Hey there Graywater! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We’re very excited to feature your group's latest single “By Now, Somehow”. Could you share with us what inspired the moving song? Hey, thanks so much for having us! “By Now, Somehow” drew from a lot of sources during its writing process. Girls, relationships, mental health, self-actualization. We started writing wanting it to tell a dynamic story. The song had been re-written, broken down to ground zero, and built back up again at least three times as we’ve continued to draw from new experiences and inspiration. It lends heavily to our greatest influences. Layne Staley of Alice in Chains has always had a lyrical and melodic influence on our songwriting. The coda of the song was really intense. It was actually a lot heavier in the early drafts of writing. It was almost difficult to write when trying to find a medium between the darkness it created, while not losing the balance of light we created at the start. The song tells a story, and we wanted to make sure during the recording process that we were really capturing those highs and those lows. Your sound is incredibly authentic and captivating as a listener. Who were some musical influences that helped shape Graywater? Thank you so much! Graham and I have played together in various musical projects for over 10 years now — Graywater’s identity stems from mixing our entire resume of music into one. You’ll hear bits and pieces of everything we’ve done over the years. Growing up we listened to a lot of Alice in Chains, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell. Lately, we’ve been really loving bands like Royal Tusk, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Tame Impala, Big Wreck, The Glorious Sons. We’re constantly seeking out ways to try something new and challenge ourselves to get a little outside our comfort zone, which has led to some of our favorite parts in our music. You’ve mentioned that you’re releasing new music this year! Could we expect an EP or an album in the near future? Yes, we are! We’ve been introducing more and more new music into our sets over the past couple of shows, trying to get a good feel for the energy and enthusiasm they bring, while still dynamically complimenting the rest of our music. We have a list of songs that we’re hoping to get out this year, maybe an EP, maybe an LP — who knows! We’re currently fine-tuning a single we plan to release within the next couple of months that we’re really enjoying. It’s another example of us pushing ourselves, and the genre, while still staying true to what makes Graywater, Graywater. You’ve been across two Canadian tours in 2018, any upcoming shows or tours in 2020? We’ve recently confirmed a few festivals this upcoming fall, as well as a few shows lined up beforehand. The lineups haven’t been announced yet, so we’re eagerly awaiting announcement dates from the coordinators so we can share with everybody! What can we expect to see next from Graywater? You can expect a brand new single within the next couple of months, and even more music to follow after. Festival and show announcements to be announced very soon — check out our social media for all info on new music and shows! instagram.com/graywatermusic twitter.com/graywatermusic facebook.com/graywaterband #BuzzMusic

  • Voimaa Shakes Up Tradition with Native Flute Instrumental “Voimaa”

Voimaa is a Ukrainian-Canadian artist who specializes in high energy instrumental pop. She embraced the world of music early in her childhood, allowing herself to be pulled into the worlds of pop, folk and new age music by legendary artists such as Lady Gaga, Yanni and Alborada Peru. At age 12, Voimaa discovered the Native Flute and invested her efforts into mastering this instrument. She stood apart from her Native Flute peers because most of them played the instrument for tradition, but Voimaa had the opportunity to discover new sounds with the flute. She has the unique ability to be able to evolve her native flute technique and combine it with other genres the way that traditional players are unable to. Voimaa has taken advantage of this quality and given the native flute aspects of pop and dance to create a new sound entirely. Traditional native flute songs spotlight the flute with a subtle instrumental background. Voimaa shamelessly introduces the many edgy, alternative sounds that make up her music style to the native flute genre. Her new release “Voimaa,” which is part of her recent EP project also called 'Voimaa,' strays from native flute tradition. She incorporates an electronic dance background that compliments and highlights her flute playing abilities. Voimaa shows her audience how committed she is to the instrument by performing intricate melodic phrases and riffs. She includes a trap-like beat, and the song continuously builds up its energy like many dance-pop songs. Although not usually seen together, the intriguing flute-electronics pairing is one that will entrance its listeners. The lively background track seems to give the song a three-dimensional effect. Voimaa draws from her pop, folk and new age inspirations when she creates her songs. “Voimaa” is a clever combination of Native Flute instrumentals and electronic dance energy. Listen to “Voimaa” here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Voimaa! Growing up you were a fan of many genres including pop, folk and new age. What drew you to learning the Native Flute, and why did you commit so intensely at age 12? I was drawn to learning the Native Flute when I first heard it in the film score of 'Where The Spirit Lives'. The movie was being shown in our 7th-grade history class and addressed the horrors of Canadian residential schools. All together the themes of the film and the sound of the instrument left me overwhelmed. I resolved that I would not stop until I got my hands on this instrument and played it. Needless to say, I was successful in my resolution and the rest was history! You are known for your creativity and musical expression by not conforming to traditional Native Flute music. How has the Native Flute fan-base embraced your style? The truth is my fan base lies mostly outside the Native Flute community. Most people who listen to my stuff are festival-goers or younger folk who want something different to move to. That being said the Native Flute community has been pretty awesome about things. Generally, people are happy to go with something different, diversity is the spice of life as the saying goes. You have released 2 EPs (LUNA & LACUNA) and one single (P.O.P.) in addition to your recent EP “Voimaa.” Can you tell us how your music style has changed over time? My music style has grown up with me. Like many other folks who play the Native Flute, I started off playing new age style music and mostly improvising - thinking that was the respectful approach to the instrument. As I became more aware of the flutes' roots and cultural context, I realized I was misinformed about so much regarding the instrument. At this point, my style started to shift towards dance and instrumental pop. I wanted to draw attention to the fact that the Native Flute is a diverse instrument, capable of far more than it was being given popular credit for. Not to mention, I had no intention of misappropriating another culture's heritage for my benefit by performing and profiting off of their traditions. When I was younger I did not understand the difference between appreciation and appropriation, as an adult not only do I understand it - I value it a great deal and my music reflects that. You have been a fan of famous artists including Lady Gaga, Yanni and Alborada Peru. Can you elaborate on how these artists influence your music style? All these artists have had a huge impact on my life, Alborada Peru and Yanni were the backbones of my musical education. I used to listen to their records for hours either improvising along to their tunes (badly!) or learning their songs by ear. I most certainly can credit both of them with my improvisation skills and early ear training. In my later years, discovering Lady Gaga had a massive impact on my artistic sensibilities. I was magnetized to Gaga's unapologetic, artistic, and educated trifecta. I love that her albums always had a theme and purpose, nothing was random- everything carried a deeper meaning. Her work became a standard of artistic integrity to me and I shall always aspire to meet it. What can we expect to see from Voimaa throughout 2020? At the moment there are lots of new songs in the works. The past year has been very tumultuous and that makes for good material so I am excited! This next project will be focusing on what it means to be alive, as I am a strong believer that music is the consequence of life. I am excited to explore collaborations with some great artists (who shall for now remain nameless) and dabble a bit more into the trance side of the dance genre. In short - prepared to be surprised! instagram.com/voimaamusic twitter.com/Voimaamusic facebook.com/Voimaamusic #BuzzMusic

  • Critically Acclaimed Artist Kram Releases Emotional Song "Ferma il mondo voglio scendere"

Kram is a critically acclaimed artist with 4x platinum certification under his belt. As a songwriter, Rosario has written for icons that include Snreme Giovani, Anna Tatangelo, and Tecla Insolia. Kram's sound can be described as polished and emotional dance-pop. Later in 2017 Rosario had signed a recording contract with Metro Records and gave birth to his stage name; Kram. Kram's latest song "Ferma il mondo voglio scendere (Stop the world, I want to get off)" is an emotional pop experience speaking about world important world issues from bullying, corruption, suicide, homophobia, and loss of faith. It features calm yet energetic electronica synths, patient drums, and gorgeous emotional vocals. Kram's vocal performance is what completes the song. It has a very polished yet emotional and raw feel to it. The production of the song is reminiscent of the best of the 2000s pop but with a more modern vocal performance and production. The songwriting of "Ferma il mondo voglio scendere" paints a beautiful story in your mind with the aid of Rosario's beautiful catchy melodies. Despite the song being in Italian, there is a strong emotional connection in place and anyone is able to listen and see the story unfold in their head. Listen to "Ferma il mondo voglio scendere" here. Hello Kram! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Your latest single "Ferma il mondo voglio scendere" cannot get out of our heads! Could you talk to us a bit about the story that you had originally had written it about? What had inspired the song? When I wrote this song, I would not have imagined that it would have been released during such a high health emergency due to the coronavirus. The release of the song was scheduled before this problem touched the world. The text was born from the need to describe all the evils of the world and to be able to say: "Enough" to all this. It is also an invocation to someone up there but also a cry of hope that wants to encourage everyone not to be afraid and not to stop. I want to remember that we must be proud of being human, that we are not machines and that "we are not alone in the middle of the universe". The track has a familiar yet modern feel in the production to it. How was the track recorded and produced? Was there a particular element that was created first and used as a foundation? This song, like all the ones I write, was born piano and voice. Then it was my producer, Antonello Bruzzese, who gave this sound to the song that tries to combine our Italian language with international elements that make everything more special. It must feel incredible to have a credit with a project that is 4x platinum, how did you initially feel when that was happening? Was there ever a feeling during the songwriting of "this is a hit"? It's a beautiful satisfaction. When you have the opportunity to collaborate with great artists and then your work rewards you with a great response from the public. Surely when you write or work on a project, the first judgment is what you do yourself but in reality, your perspective does not always correspond to that of the listeners and even the results do not depend only on a single factor especially in a very small market like the Italian one. You definitely have your own unique sound to your music, who or what are your influences for the music you're creating? Do you have any idols? The great songwriters of Italian and current history have always inspired me in my music: De Gregori, Tiziano Ferro, Jovanotti. However, in my way of writing, I always look for a way to be as authentic as possible, to free my emotions as much as possible and to look for new and captivating languages that can stimulate the attention of the listener. What can fans anticipate next from you, Kram? Of course, I invite everyone to stay connected on our official social pages: Kram on Facebook, @krammusic on Instagram and the official YouTube channel KRAM because soon the video clip of the last single will be released which will be truly extraordinary. Also, in a few months, my first album will be released so I'll wait for you at the first INSTORE and the first concerts. Sorry for my not perfect English and thanks for the interview. instagram.com/krammusic #BuzzMusic
