- Deku Throws Things Back To “1985”
Deku is an American singer/songwriter and record producer hailing from Los Angeles. As a songwriter, he has written for many artists globally for the past several years while living in the entertainment capital of the world. Contrary to the big city, Deku hailed from the rocky mountains of Colorado, where he honed in on his creativity. He has mixed his background with his passion for exploring new places and people, which are all muses for his artistry and content. Deku delivered a contagious and energetic new track titled “1985”. Fusing conceptual depth and self-reflection with an upbeat musicality, “1985” paints a dreamlike scene around the listener, offering insight and understanding. The great thing about a song like this is that it’s an instant energy boost. There’s a near-dance-hall vibe to the spacious rhythm of the track, meanwhile, that riff loops out around you in a notably memorable way. “1985” creates a mood, making certain you’ll recognize the tone and style of Deku. “1985” brings through a fairly addictive new sound. The perfect choice for any listener looking to escape into an authentic soundscape and absolutely worth a few listens. Check out "1985” here and keep scrolling for more with Deku below! Hey Deku! For those who don’t know, can you tell us about how you first got started making music? “Well, as a kid I always loved music, but I never had a way to really express my own musical talent till I was in high school. I used to carry around a little Notebook full of raps and songs. My uncle had a little set up at his house and I was able to come over and practice engineering myself. I felt like the sky was the limit in recording and creating. After high school I ended up working at the biggest studio in town. There I met a lot of the larger artist of my city and started writing hooks for the producers to sell. As time passed I got better at singing naturally from trial and error using lots of auto tune till i understood what sounded good and what was really bad. Song after song until I started writing songs and whole albums for other artists. So I would say that’s where it started and from there I grew my own sound and my own style of how I wanted to present myself to the world.” We’re loving your new song “1985”. It’s very upbeat and hypnotic. What’s it all about? “1985 all started after I moved to LA and noticed a lot of people dressed up like they were in the 80s at clubs. I almost felt like it was a time machine, all of us embracing a culture we weren’t alive for, and BAM. She just wanna dance like it’s 1985, at that club she never been to because she wasn’t alive yet, yet, you get where I’m going with this.” Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? “The best setting to listen to my songs are right when you’re about to go have the best night of your life, and then again if you’re not having a good night and want to vibe out and find some good vibes to decompress. A lot of my music is up beat and fun, but I have songs that are slow and personal. At the end of the day I’m just giving you me. We can all find ourselves in the music somewhere. What I hope people take away is a feeling of escape and bliss, as well as a feeling of relatability and connection, embracing themselves and finding themselves along with me.” If someone only has time to check out one song from your collection, which would you recommend and why? “I would say to check out the novice EP, it’s more then one song yes, but I would say it’s a good way to get to know me prior to 1985. I like to think of my songs as stories and showcasing where I was and where I’m at. Novice is about how I got to this point and the feelings and vibes I had while adventuring to the big city for the first time.” What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? “Going forward I want to open up more into what I want to become. I want my sound to not be limited to one genre or mood. I want to just express where I’m at and going. I want my future music and projects to exemplify the constant change and evolution of my life.” Stay connected: www.instagram.com/theonlydeku www.facebook.com/theonlydeku #BuzzMusic
- Phaze3 Shares The True Meaning Of “Gadsden County Healing” In New Interview!
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Queen! It wasn’t long since we’ve last featured your music! How do you stay on track to create relevant content so consistently? Honestly, I set a plan on the how, when and where . I put a plan in place on how far I want my music to grow. I look at the things that need to be done to grow my music and try to start reaching those goals. Then I put a plan in place of when I want my content released. I give myself time frames and try to stick to them. I don’t really believe in beating yourself down trying to pull music from places within you that haven’t matured. Music has to mature in you in order for you to pull from those inner places. Time develops all. Then I move on to thinking where I want my music to be placed. I ask myself should I try to put my music here, there, or everywhere. Then when I decide; that’s when I set plans for placement in those areas. Where is the best setting to listen to “Gadsden County Healing”, and what do you hope people take away from it? The Gadsden County Healing song is literally like all over the place. You can find it on almost all digital music stores as well as the song and video on my YouTube channel Phaze3 Muzic. The things that I wanted people to take away from the Gadsden County Healing song was to believe that even though we as a community just encountered a terrible storm that had affected our area severely; and despite other issues from the past that affected our community; and despite what our eyes see and our hearts feel, that God will heal our home again! I wanted Gadsden County to understand,”Unity”; in such that, despite what the government was or was not doing in our eye sights fast enough; that we still have each other to lean and depend on; and in situations like this it’s vitally important to unite and make things work for our community. I wanted to give this song to my community to help them heal. The Gadsden County Healing song was of course written by me; but it was also written from a place of hurt. It devastated me to come home and see my county look the way it did and I wanted to do nothing but to cry out to the Lord; to please , heal my home again! A self-proclaimed Queen, what sets you apart from other hip-hop artists? I think at this point in my new music career what sets me apart is my Prophetic anointing. The thing about being a Prophet means change, movement, growth ,healing ,etc. I’m not an artist who soul goal is just trying to make money off of my art. I am an artist whom my art of music will benefit people in their homes; people who are living in difficult situations ; people who have things they are holding onto but scared to say it and scared to release their true selves. My music will speak to their hearts and minds and move their spirit. My music will cause breakthroughs. It will give you energy to move and dance and shake things on your body you never knew you had before. Music is a big part of life! My music will reach people of all ages and races. I’m praying that everyone around the globe will open up their doors to their homes and let the Prophetic Queen Warrior, take care of you and yours musically. What was the creation process like for this song? The Gadsden County Healing song was created from emotions. I have always hated seeing people hurt and having loss in their lives; and the process of writing for me ,started off with me being in the dark from the storm in my bed with one candle next to me on the nightstand. I had worries about my family whom lived outside my home as well as my friends and my community. I asked the Lord to help me pick a beat and write this song that I knew was in me; because I just had to give my community something! So I picked up the paper and pencil and I used whatever battery life I had left on my phone to turn on Youtube to find a music beat. I typed in the search bar ,Tragic beats ,and the second beat I heard I knew that was it. I then started writing from a place of hurt and concern for my community. I needed to cry out to the Lord for help for us because we were in serious trouble! In less than two hours I was done writing the song and I remember singing it all night. My husband did not get any rest. He tossed all night as I began working on the vocals for this song. I would not rest ! Then God led me to a studio in Gadsden County that specialized in this type of music and they worked fast and efficient and got the song produced as well as helping with the connection to get the video recorded and produced. I knew it was God because of how fast everything went for me doing this time with this song. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? Going forward, I want my music to help mature me and help me grow to the highest potential musically I can grow to. Of course I want awards, and honors and recognitions and to see my music hit top spots on billboards; that’s so exciting; but also I want people to just love me and enjoy me and support me watch me do my thang! What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019? I am working on the biggest project of my new music career and that’s the Gospel album. It’s like no other! I am also working on the video to my new hot single, Don’t Rattle Me. As a spiritual leader I’m also working on getting the world fit through exercise and dieting through my outreach program called ,Fitness For Life. You can follow me at ,Destiny Divine Deliverance of Praise Health Ministry for this program. I am thankful for these tasks. The Dead Licks is a contemporary/modern alt-rock band consisting of members Jack Grbac (guitar), Tom Inzinga (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Gallagher (drums) and Johnny McNamara (bass). The band recently released their album "Stay Away from the Aliens" in 2018, and are now releasing new singles! Their sound embodies true eclecticism in an alternative rock fashion. You're going to feel uplifted by their passion, and drawn to their dramatics. The overall programming of their music is what's phenomenal. The way the band is in total sync with one another definitely contributes to their ability to amplify and execute their sound. The Dead Licks recently released anticipated track "New Era", and we're receiving a variety of musical elements that completely elevate the sound of the band! So we gave a listen to The Dead Licks recent single "New Era" and we're definitely feeling the atmosphere this track creates for the listener. With a more mature and rustic sound, The Dead Licks are able to blend striking guitar riffs with a calming vocal production. The curation of "New Era" was done with passion, and done methodically. The Dead Licks consistently produce music that is filled with authenticity and rawness. They're making you feel entranced by their melodies, and with an eclectic take on modern rock, we're fascinated with their musical stylings. Near the end of "New Era" we receive more heavy-hitting vocalism, which sets a more intense environment for the listener. We're completely engulfed in the vocals of the track, and mesmerized by the bands integration of skillful instrumentals. Listen to the contemporary stylings of modern rock band The Dead Licks here, and continue reading for our interview with the band! Hello there The Dead Licks! We're excited to be featuring the bands latest track "New Era" on BuzzMusic! How did the creation of the track go? How do you guys typically surpass creative clashes? Me and Tom were playing some Radiohead and he came up with the riff. We took it to the band and it became a cool melodic jam. We’re patient when it comes to writing music... we respect each other’s opinions and take it one day at a time. "New Era" was a refreshing sound being contributed to the modern rock era. We're wondering what the initial vision of the track was, and where your inspiration was drawn for it? We wanted to write something that would sound exciting because of its melody alone. We tried to stay away from a guitar solo and focused more on writing out a jam. Who would you say has a large contribution to the development and sound of The Dead Licks music? Radiohead, The Strokes, Wilco, Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Lumineers. We all write the songs. Any one of us may have an idea or song structure, but we like sitting in a room and writing it on the fly. Where would you guys be most excited to perform venue-wise? Where was your best show held? As far as Chicago goes, we’d love to play the Aragon and the Metro. Seeing shows there in the past made us realize how special those venues are. lollapalooza wouldn’t be too shabby What's the goal for The Dead Licks? Where do each of you believe the band will be in 2 years from now?! We want this to be our profession, but do not know how to make that happen. We will continue writing music and performing in shows until we gain recognition. Two years from now we hope to not be working our day jobs and focus more on the music. - Trickshooter Social Club Updates BuzzMusic On Their Latest Single Release!
Welcome back to BuzzMusic! For those who don’t know, how would you describe your sound and your approach to music? Trickshooter Social Club has always had two things coursing through our DNA: Honesty and authenticity. Our sound reflects that and the influences that helped shape us. Like Tom Petty, Black Keys, Social Distortion, Steve Earle and early Wilco. Can you tell us more about your project “American Experiment”? What does the release of this album represent for you? American Experiment tried to capture the blunt force beauty and casual tragedy of now - the grace, the shame, the fragility and the strength of the American Experiment we are living in 2019. Tragic and hopeful. New and familiar. American Experiment endeavors to contribute to the conversation. Marking where we are as a country and as a band. What was it like working with Jon Zacks at Chicago Recording Company? Jon was a true collaborator in every sense, not to mention a tireless, meticulous worker. He quickly got what we were trying to go for and not only was able to help us craft it, but had a seemingly infinite amount of ideas to help get us there. What track on the album would you say is the most personal? Why? There’s such a vulnerability and intimacy to Carry Me Home that really hits home. It’s about being lost and disconnected and the struggle of finding your way back to where you came from-not to mention regaining the sense of one’s self. How does the songwriting and recording process compare to live performance for you? The one thing that is a constant in Trickshooter Social Club is our energy. So the same jumping, running, screaming and sweating that you see onstage is happening in the studio and in our practice space. What do you hope to achieve as a group through the end of 2019? We’re going to continue to play shows in Chicago, the Midwest and NY and LA. We have two video concepts we’re going to film. And writing is always a priority for us. So as we head into the cold, winter months, we’re going to start recording our 4th full-length album. - A Full Interview With Adam Gokcebay
Hey Adam! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you originally get started making music? I originally started making music around a year ago because I wanted to try it out. I had been singing since I was seven years old and also wanted to try writing. When I started out I wanted to rap but I quickly realized I was better at singing. We’re loving your next release “Still Down”! Can you dive into some of the lyrics and the meaning of the song? I wanted to write a song about seeing your ex at a party or just a girl you’re nervous to talk to. The chorus “If I don’t wanna talk right now, will you still be down, will you stick around?” is nervousness and not wanting to deal with each other right then and there. The song overall is a back and forth conversation between one another and that’s what I love about it. Is this the first time you’ve collaborated with Olivia Badaglia? How did that come about? Olivia is one of my best friends. She actually helped me write my first song last summer which she also sang on the chorus as well. When I started writing “Still Down”, I knew this track was for us. You featured on a track titled “All I Wanted” with Justice Skolnik, what was that recording process like? I hit up Justice around Thanksgiving last year since we both live in the Bay Area. He was super chill and gave me feedback on my own tracks. I really wanted to work with him and one day he hit me up to work. We recorded at each others houses with a really simple setup. How have you honed your vocal style over time, and did it take a while to find your vibe, or did it come naturally? It did take a while to find my vibe. I feel that I’ve found it primarily within the last 3 to 4 months. What are the main values you want to bring to the music world? Honesty is a huge thing for me. If you listen to the things I talk about in my songs, they’re real feelings and happen to all people. Listen to "Still Down" here and keep up with Adam Gokcebay through Instagram.
- Get Ready To Feel Nostalgic With Loyal’s Latest Hit “Architect”
Returning with the debut release on their brand new self-titled imprint for AWAL, Brighton collective Loyal reveal their 90’s style piano house track “Architect”. A record that will take you back to the raves of your past and the fantasy parties of your future, the band has brought back their gospel choir to join Bearcubs on vocals for a truly nostalgic yet epically modern take on those reach-for-the-laser moments. “Architect” marks the start of a new Chapter for Loyal, building on an incredibly successful start, with Radio 1 support from Phil Taggart, Mistajam and Pete Tong, as well as a pair of Maida Vale sessions. While it’s easy to appreciate a release like this for its ambient qualities, there’s also a notably melodic and almost live aspect to the recording. “Architect” feels as if it’s either about to drop into something manic and heavy, or evolve and change completely into something brand new. What actually comes is a drop to something a little more secure, a little more spacious and rhythmically entrancing. It does feel more like a late-night 90’s dance floor moment by this point where piano and house fuse and melt around you in a hypnotic and strangely calming fashion. All in all, the journey of “Architect’ is both refreshingly creative and nostalgically enjoyable. Electronic music fans will likely appreciate the layers and moments as much as the overall experience that Loyal and Bearcubs team up to deliver. Check out "Architect" by Loyal here! - Austin Riddle Dives Into New Track "You Could Be"
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Austin! What have you been up to since the release of your single “Close”? So much music! I really feel like I have developed more in the past few months than ever before. I’m unbelievably pumped for the records I have ready to release! We’re loving your new song “You Could Be”. It seems very personal and open, what’s it all about? This song is about the first moments i had with a particular person. This is a declaration of the potential we could have together if she would give it a chance. “You Could Be” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Do you always write in this manner? Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your songwriting? Or do you think it’s better to always be vulnerable? A few months ago i would say be as commercial as possible so that everyone can grasp your music. Recently though, i’ve managed to find a balance of maintaining understanding and being an open book. I’ve come to realize my fans relate so much better when I let go and get REAL. How do you remain on track to continue writing new content so consistently? I have a weekly routine that i’m pretty strict about. As a business partner, spiritual leader, college student, athlete, and striving musician, I have a lot on my plate. I enjoy it though. having my hands in so many things that i’m passionate about makes me genuinely happy. Songwriting is throughout my everyday life. I write at the gym, come up with melodies while driving, and even write in some of my classes when they lose my interest. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? I would say driving for sure. I’m not so pretentious that i think you HAVE to sit down and “absorb my art” but my music is more to reflect on when you have some alone time, play at a club, or just play it while driving to make the drive seem shorter. I want my music to add value to people’s lives. Whatever your interpretation is of my music, is totally cool with me. That’s really what makes it beautiful. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? I really want to build and expand my territory as an artist. I have millions of fans out there that haven’t heard any of my music, my job now is just to find them ;) Check out "You Could Be" here! Keep up with Austin Riddle: www.instagram.com/austinriddleoff #BuzzMusic
- BuzzMusic Welcomes Back Duo Venture Klan!
Welcome back Venture Klan! for our new readers, do you mind detailing the formation of this duo? how did you two meet? Venture Klan members, Ave Campbell and BukDaWorld meet back in high school in 2005. We later formed our Hip Hop duo in 2017, with year's of friendship under our belts we found our unique writing styles very compatible! There's a friendly rivalry between us which helps to push each other to be the best in all aspects within music and life. Our chemistry is reflected within our music, with songs like our latest single 2:06 p.m. crazy, fun, and exciting! What's been the most challenging aspect of the music industry for you two and why? any lessons learned that has impacted your career for the greater? The most challenging aspect of the music industry for us would have to be staying true to ourselves and who we are while owning our brand. It's really easy to be swept up in what's trending now or what you may think the industry wants you to be. We learned that things work best for us, when we stay true to who we are and believe in our music. We've accomplished so much thanks to that mindset and plan to go even further knowing that we're the ones in control. We listened to your single "2:06pm" and we loved it! what was the story behind the title of this song and how does the theme of the record compliment this? 2:06 p.m. can best be described as a typical studio or writing session for Venture Klan. We have an organic relationship which helps us to create new music easily. More times then not, we will find ourselves writing a song before we actually developed a concept or theme. 2:06 p.m. captures this situation best as it gives our audience an insight of what our recording sessions are actually like. How would you describe your songwriting method? What approach did you take for "2:06 pm"? Our methods for creating music heavily depends on the instrumental. We like take some time just listening to the beat over and over freestyling and joking around. Our approach for 2:06 p.m. was basically rap now, come up with a name later, and see what happens. Let's talk about your EP "We Good". Which songs are your personal favorites? We Good was such a great body of work, that it's hard to pick but Biltz 2000 and Favorite song are our favorites. These song's show a wide range of our personalities and versatility within our music. Thank you for sharing your music with us! What can we expect from you in the future? We just released our latest video for the song, "Harlem", August 17th on our YouTube channel. We will be releasing our next single, "Westside", later this month as well as the video for our song, "Favorite Song" off the We Good EP. We host a podcast, The Something Ventured podcast, which releases new episodes every Tuesday so make sure to subscribe to our website for updates on whats next from Venture Klan. - Exclusive Interview: rIVerse!
What's going on rIVerse?! How's the music scene been for you since we last featured you on BuzzMusic?! Things are going so well for us since we last interviewed. We are grateful everyday for the life we are living. We have been performing in front of tons of new audiences, we've reached some amazing milestones across our social media platforms, and of course we just released our newest single, 'Clapback SZN' and the response has been amazing. "Clapback SZN" is voluptous, energetic and alluring in all ways! We're loving the attitude and tempos of the track, and how uplifted it can make you feel as a listener! What was the intended curated atmosphere for listeners when listening to this song? The strong dance vibe in "Clapback SZN" sets the general mood to help listeners feel empowered to take a stand and speak out against the ubiquitous Internet Troll. Listeners tell us the song makes them feel energized, fierce, and ready to "clap back." What was the main goal of "Clapback SZN" and the message it was intending to project? This song was inspired by an online exchange between rap superstar Cardi B and one of her "fans." Dizz decided to write a song that could become a declaration for anyone who needed to "clap back" at a hater. He also used some of his/rIVerse's own experiences with online trolls as inspiration. It is all too easy to spread hate and negativity online these days, without really worrying about consequences. While rIVerse actively chooses not to engage with any online bullying or social media "battles," we wanted to remind people that they still have power to speak out against the trolls. We love the prime funky and soulful elements integrated all throughout "Clapback SZN". We really thought this skillful integration of dance-like aspects being added in! Were you trying to go more for an electric and funky execution with this particular track? rIVerse loves 90s music and we often find inspiration pulling elements from that era of music. With Clapback SZN, we loved creating a song with such fire that has a strong 90s dance vibe as well as vogue/ballroom flavourings -- both sounds are nostalgic of when we were growing up, but also are relevant to what is happening in today's culture. And, of course, we will always have the smooth harmonies and R&B vocals that are signature rIVerse sounds! We're aware that rIVerse's platform is used to communicate with listeners. What would say has been some of the most important messages you've tried to integrate within the music for listeners? The biggest message rIVerse shares, through all that we create, is self-love and self-acceptance. The declaration we make with the IV League (our fans) is #BWVL - I am Beautiful, I am Worthy, I am Valued and I am Loved. Whether it's in the specific lyrics of a song, the general mood of the song, or simply just by being our authentic selves and offering inspiration for others to do the same, rIVerse tries to always share that message with any audience we find. 6) What are next steps now for rIVerse? The immediate priority is working on the official music video for 'Clapback SZN' - we are really excited to get this visual together and out for the world to see. People have been requesting it ever since the song dropped, so we can't wait to finally share it! We are also working on traveling in the near future, connecting with the IV League throughout North America and the world. And, as always, working on new music for our upcoming projects. Check out "Clapback SZN" here! and keep up with rIVerse through social media: www.instagram.com/rIVerseLive www.twitter.com/rIVerseLiv www.facebook.com/rIVerseLive #BuzzMusic
