- The Mans a G Keep His Eye On The “Prize”
The Mans a G is a talented singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist residing in New York City. He enjoys a healthy balance of music performance, education, composition, and research. As a multi-instrumentalist, he plays the Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, and Drumset in addition to singing. The Mans a G is an emphatically fanatic connoisseur of sound. Growing up in the hometown of Dizzy Gillespie, Cheraw South Carolina, The Mans a G acknowledged that he was destined to be a musical artist who strove to bring communities together for higher achievement. The Mans a G’s voice is the first thing to grab you, this softly raspy vocal sings clearly and expresses vulnerability and passion intertwined. After this, the lyrics really start to sink in, “Prize” gathers momentum slowly but surely, never overstepping the mark or becoming anything irrelevant or overly attention grabbing. It feels like a very natural exploration of the central sentiments of the writing. The Mans a G pours so much heart into the process and when the passion reaches its peak his voice more than meets the needs of the moment. He screams out on behalf of everyone who’s ever felt the passion and conflict expressed throughout “Prize”. An impressive track, we can’t wait to hear more from The Mans a G Check out “Prize” here and keep scrolling for our chat with The Mans a G. Welcome to BuzzMusic! What does the music in “Prize” represent or mean for you? It's an honor to give this interview, thanks for the wonderful opportunities that you guys provide at BuzzMusic. The music in "Prize" is a bold affirmation to remain steadfast in your dreams. It represents an inner-dialogue between two versions of oneself; one driven by fear, the other by principle. In order to achieve our dreams we have to take some calculated risk. This song is about surviving; to thrive while being surrounded by naysayers who harbour fear and intimidation. To push through, no matter what, and achieve your wildest dreams. Where do you imagine is the best setting in which to experience this music? The best setting to experience this music is when you are sitting in your car after a long day. You're weary. You're beat down. Your ideas have been rejected and belittled. For years and years you've been trying your best with no results. Any progress is a hard-fought bare-bellied crawl through broken glass. But you still feel a fire in your chest. You look in the mirror and see the pain and passion in your eyes. You play this song and feel an elevation in purpose and service. You feel encouraged to double-down and stay true to your most lofty dreams. What do you hope listeners take away from “Prize”? Self-acceptance is an important theme that I hope listeners take away from my song, "Prize". It's important to love yourself and strive for the things that make you happy. Realize that you are complete, nothing is missing. Yes, there are tons of things necessary for an individual to improve upon from a personal standpoint, but remain optimistic and steadfast. Fall in love with yourself and distance your self from people who don't accept you as you are. Which single composition of yours would you recommend to new listeners, and why? I began my career as an instrumentalist so I'm on lots of songs, but this is my first foray as a solo artist so "Prize" is my only choice at the moment. I am super excited about new music I'm releasing in September. Stay tuned! What’s your main aspiration as an artist right now? My main aspiration is to uplift others while I express myself. To cause reflection and progress through my art-form. Funny thing is that I don't aim to become particularly famous, I just want to provide a cosmic balm to whomever stumbles upon my music by happenstance. I aspire to become a better story-teller and arrange music in the most compelling way possible. Find out more on The Mans a G via his socials below! Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- Get Funky With Hollie Beadell In Track "Get It Right"!
Hollie Beadell is bringing back familiar sounds with her music. We love artists who incorporate core elements of early 2000's music into their rhythms and tempo, creating for a reminiscent experience. Hollie Beadell is the pinnacle of taking that reminiscent sound, and exploiting it in the best way possible throughout her own music. Currently studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music, Hollie releases her second album titled "Jukebox Nights", and this one is bringing funk, a classic sound, mixed with a predominant modern impression. Hollie is releasing her sound that is true to her, and we can't help but appreciate the soul she flawlessly embeds into her overall execution. We're receiving iconic elements from the Gwen Stefani era of music in Hollie Beadell's "Get It Right". Her tone is alluring, vivacious, and simply eccentric all throughout the track. Hollie will catch your attention with the bubbly persona she maintains in the song, which warrants for a rewarded overall execution. Hollie is the type of voice you want to hear when you need your body moving, or your mood improved. I was mindlessly tapping my foot along to the song, as "Get It Right" has that undeniable feel-good rhythm. The overall prominent sensation to the song is exhilaration! We highly recommend Hollie Beadell's track to those who need that extra "oomph" added to their playlists. Discover the funky tune "Get It Right", and the rest of Hollie's album here! Continue reading for our interview with Hollie. Welcome back again Hollie! Please introduce yourself to our new readers! I am a singer songwriter from the uk studying production at The Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford. ‘Jukebox Nights’ is my second album and this is a very different sound from my first album. It’s a mixture of soul, pop and funk and I am hoping that everyone likes the new feel of the music and enjoys what we created. "Get It Right" was audacious and funky! We loved the tune. What kind of impact did you want this particular track off of your album to make on listeners? I wanted people to hear a funky upbeat tempo then hit them with lyrics that were contrasting. I wanted to prepare the listener for a whole different experience to the first album and I think ‘Get It Right’ hit them with that. How did the overall production of "Jukebox Nights" go? Any creative hiccups along the curation of it? The songwriting process is something that just happens naturally. All the songs just took form, I would hear a rift and all of a sudden I would think of a first line for the verse and then it just stemmed from there. The amount of new techniques that we used and adding a choir into the mix on ‘All Love Is Fair’ was a challenge as we had never recorded one before. We wanted to create a live vocal element into the album with the backing vocals and that gave the album a soulful vintage feel. Who would you say has shaped your artistic journey thus far? I think that would have to be Ben Drew ‘Plan B’ he with out a shadow of a doubt made me want to be a recording artist. He made me change the way I listened to an album and it was the first album that I played over and over again. I take a lot of inspiration from him and it’s amazing how much I have developed as an artist by just listening and taking notes from him. We've heard that your tour is kicking off in September! How stoked are you to perform again?! I am so excited to perform all the new songs with the band. I have a female drummer Joanna which is just amazing, it’s great to have a female to bounce off ideas with and she just so happens to be my best friend. The bass player Ed and the guitarist Josh are so wonderful and easy to work with and they have brought new life to the songs when we play them live. It’s going to be an amazing experience and I hope everyone is going to love what we are going to perform. Discover more on Hollie and her music through her social media: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Vibrant Canadian Indie-Pop Duo Adera Releases “Little Feather”
Adera is an eclectic indie-pop duo from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Formed in 2016, their unique sound came from years of experimenting with the same songs until its founders Tomás Valenzuela and Tiffany Calderbank landed on something they felt they hadn’t heard before. Adera most recently orchestrated its sound and live show to include saxophone, guitar and drums while still holding onto its vibrant synth sounds, introspective lyrics and soft vocal tones. Their second EP is set to be released late 2019, stay tuned! The opening melody throughout “Little Feather” presents a completely unexpected structure. The lyrics are simple, the leading voice has a certain easy going joyfulness about it, and the simple few notes that make up each line create an immediately memorable, minimalist yet rhythmic thread, which continues to keep you involved from start to finish. Musically, this song has a slightly retro ambiance. The beat, synths, and softly spoken leading voice all make for a simple soundscape that comes with a fairly robotic sense of movement and progression. Things continuously evolve in a manner that refuses to succumb to your expectations. Again, this is something that ties in with the lyrics of the song and it just makes sense. From a songwriting perspective, the track leaves you contemplating that melody and that hook over and over. It’s the perfect, unexpected ear-worm of the moment. Check out “Little Feather” here and read more with Adera below! Hey guys welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourselves? What role does each of you play within Adera? Hey! Thanks, we're Tomás and Tiffany. We make up 2/5 of Adera. Tomás is our resident producer and composer. I, Tiffany, tend to mostly do writing and "composing" if by composing you mean messing around until something sticks. We have three other members who play with us live. Luke on sax, Anthony on guitar/samples mostly, and Trent on drums. How and when did Adera come to fruition? How did you choose the name? Adera started in 2016. Tomás and I met at Community College studying music. A mutual friend of ours mentioned to me that he and Tomás were going to try starting up a band and they needed a drummer. At that point I was focusing more on drums so I got in touch with Tomás and he said I was in! We didn't have any songs though haha. So the two of us started sending ideas back and forth until we had some demos together that we liked. The name is actually a street in Vancouver. I was using it as my fake band name for a school assignment where we had to make an artist website. We both thought it had a nice ring to it so we used it. Google Translate told me that it means "to adhere" in Romanian. I don't know if that's true but I'm rolling with it right now because I've found meaning in that translation. I like to think that we use "adhere" to mean "to represent truthfully and in detail." I think that is how both Tomás and I try to live so it's a nice reminder to be honest with yourself. Can you dive into more details on the lyrics of “Little Feather”? What inspired this song? Little Feather is about realizing that you can get better too. Specifically talking about mental health. I don't know if anyone else gets like this but sometimes I look at the lives of other people a bit too much. So I'll see people who have improved themselves and think - yeah makes sense. But then it would seem impossible for me to get better. One of my big struggles has been with anxiety. It's so intense because my mind is always looking for something to go wrong. I kept getting these migraines because I would get so anxious. I got so sick of them one day so I did a ton of research on the topic and tried out different ways of managing them. It took a really long time but I got the migraines to happen less and less. So, that's where this song came from. It sort of hit me that - I did it. I was like those people, I got a little better. If I did - then can't anybody? What do you hope your fans take away from it? I don't really know. I think I just thought it would be cool if it brought hope and encouragement to someone. Really, if it can bring any general positivity to anyone, that would be awesome. Life is just so tough for all of us and we can always use some encouragement. Do you have any hints of tour dates or upcoming show you’d like to talk about? We have a show coming up pretty quick. We're playing at The Fox Cabaret in Vancouver, BC with Chersea and Royal Oak on August 31. Here's a link to tickets if you want to come hang! https://tinyurl.com/y6seojxa Thanks so much for reading and thanks BuzzMusic for the questions! - The Missouri Pacific Blur Genres With Their Single “Dimes”
The Missouri Pacific is an energetic, poetic, soul-filled rock trio hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. Named after a long-gone train-line that folks would hop to get West, the band honors its namesake with music that is constantly and drastically evolving and moving. With instrumentation that blends vintage and modern sounds alongside thoughtful and story-focused lyrics, "The Missouri Pacific" offers something careful, something heartfelt, something that asks the listener to abandon predispositions and enjoy a ride to someplace new. “Dimes” is a soulful track with hypnotizing bluesy undertones of pure rock. The instrumentation behind the words rises up in a similarly expressive and powerful way. Clearly connected at every step to the underlying sentiments and intentions of the song. Calming rhythms contrast and collide against utterances of emotive lyricism. As “Dimes” progresses, we’re taken through the various stages of learning and looking back, meandering from optimism to error, from hope to pain, from joy to guilt. “Dimes” builds and bubbles up in a perfectly emotional manner, all the way through until its ultimate, beautifully chaotic breaking point. A powerful and timeless track that brings together unquestionable purity and pain from the depths of the human experience. Listen to “Dimes” here and read more with The Missouri Pacific below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you meet? How did The Missouri Pacific come to fruition? Hey, friends! MoPac got it's start about a year and a half ago after I figured I'd like a moniker for the music I was writing. My good friend Willy Downing (Bass/Guitar) hopped on pretty quickly after things got moving and right afterwards we embarked on a rough ride from duo to trio to a foursome then back again until we were joined last January by Evan Roque (Drums.) Things have settled a bit now, and it was only two months before the newest record that we really pieced ourselves together as a band. Our name comes from an old train-line, and much like the folks that used to hop it to get West, we're a couple misfits who abandoned our college-campuses and job prospects to find something better in the music we play and love. What is the main theme for your album “Gorgeous Indifference”? "Gorgeous Indifference" is about just that. It's a collection of individual stories about how, sometimes, the world can feel starkly apathetic. How our own circumstance, whatever it may be, is unfortunately independent from the movement around us. It's a very specific sort of feeling, something I don't think we contend with often, but when it hits, it hits hard. Can you tell us the meaning behind the lyrics in “Dimes”? The album has a bit of a trajectory in it. The first half (for the most part) is bigger-sounding songs with brass sections and more clear-cut lyrics while the second half (for the most part) is gentle and does a bit more metaphoring. "Dimes" is on this second half and because of that the lyrics lend themselves better to interpreting than explaining. The song itself is a look at assisted-suicide, at a relationship between two people who are faced with this situation and forced to decide what ground they stand on. What was the writing process like for this album? If someone could only listen to one track to represent you as artists, what track would you suggest and why? I think the writing process was a bit backwards, because the songs sort of came together before the album did. We had (and have) a lot more music written, but we never planned or structured an album out. We just happened to have a couple songs in the mix that really felt like they were trying to say something similar, so we put them together. The title track, "Gorgeous Indifference" was actually written after we figured out all the other tunes on the album, and it serves to glue everything together thematically. As far as listening to one track to represent us goes, I think "Elijah" is a good pick. It's the best example of how we sound live, how we sound practicing in the basement, of the energy we play with and the way we write. What’s next for The Missouri Pacific? Hopefully another album later this year if we can scrounge up enough coins from our couch cushions? Tentatively planning our first tour, and looking to do some shows outside of the North East. Lots planned, can't wait to meet everyone along the way! Know the latest on The Missouri Pacific through their social media below! Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Julian Jermaine Is Ambitious and Always Ready To “Go And Get It”
Julian Jermaine is making waves in the hip-hop music scene with his witty bars and diverse style. His music is a breath of fresh air mixed with soulful street poetry, a commercial ability without sacrificing content. When asked why he raps such soulful and gritty words through tales of struggle, Julian says “Although music is a way of entertainment I want to inspire and motivate giving a visual of hope through struggle, while reproducing the feeling rap first gave me and to also amplify the whisper of God and put more positive energy and love back into the world through the eyes of a Michigan kid from the bottom.” Julian’s belief is that music is a global language and art is perspective. Rapping since 2001, Julian began creating music when he was 15 years old. With many EP’s and a slew of singles under his belt, Julian Jermaine is always releasing relevant content. “Go and Get It” is not only a great track that’s produced to the highest quality, but it leads with a smooth and easily memorable hook. Anthem-like as a whole, “Go and Get It” is also a bold and striking introduction to Julian Jermaine if you haven’t heard his work before. Despite the multilayered soundscape and the hard-hitting bars, no moment is wasted. “Go and Get It” can be described as nothing other than being on point, on the level, and impressively crafted. As far as contemporary hip hop goes, this release manages to effectively walk the line between the classic and the new. An easy stand out for summer 2019, and a track we should rightfully expect to hear across the airwaves and globally for the foreseeable future. Check out “Go and Get It” here and read more with Julian Jermaine below! Hey Julian Jermaine! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We were vibing with your track “Go and Get It”! What does this song represent for you? For me it represents overcoming adversity overcoming what people say you can’t do. It’s basically motivation to get through all of the negativity that can be thrown at you when pursuing your dreams or goals. What has been one of your most memorable or life changing achievements as an artist so far? Just really finally getting an opportunity for the world to hear my art through global distribution. It’s an exciting time for an artist to control their own image and catalog via the internet. What are your thoughts on mainstream hip hop at present, and your hopes for the genre going forward? I really think the culture is at a shifting and blending point. Meaning that the younger generation has brought a unique sound that if done right will create another sub-genre within hip-hop I’m not super happy with lyrics for a period of time kind of taking a backseat but ultimately I think it’s steering back towards the craft and soul of lyricism. I just hope that we continue to push the culture with genuine and unique sounds instead of everything sounding the same at times. How important is it to tell your own unique and honest story in hip hop? I think it’s super important I think we have to always remain unique to our own story I think that is what creates exciting new artists, because you’re bringing people into your world and giving them a very real view of who you are and were you come from. A perspective of what has shaped me up to this point. Hip hop has always expanded by opening up a small view of the neighborhoods we come from, therefore altering and adding to the culture through style, slang and like wise social and economic problems in our communities. After almost 20 years of making music, what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the music industry? To never give up, always focus on your art, never take any opportunity for granted and respect the artists who helped build the genre to the global phenomenon that it is today. Listen to “Drama Queen” here and read more with Kfir below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Kfir! What prompted you to first start recording your music? I never really consciously thought about recording music. Though, I did had sparks of it all around my childhood. My mother was a professional singer and a performer and I used to go to rehearsals with her as a kid and play hide and seek with my sister under the stage. I always imitated big stars performances in my bedroom, though I was ashamed of my voice, I decided to become a dancer. Still performing but only with my body to express myself. I lived around music all the time, from classical, rock, pop folk. I was very artistic kid. I remember even when I didn’t have music around I used to hum melodies all the time. My childhood friend used joke saying, “I was a walking radio station creating my own programs and I need to shut up”. Only later after moving to the State, I started writing poetry about things I’ve been through, being lonely and having poetry as an emotional outlet helped me release pressure. One day I decided to add music to it. It was only a matter of time. How do you get started when writing a new song? A new song for me can come out of no-where. Many times it starts with a word I might hear on the street. I try to be very open to the outside world and beyond, so I can observe most around me. Most of the time, I wake up in the middle of the night with melodies that come to me in my dreams. I run into the bathroom and record it to voice note. Recently, I received a beat while on my winter vacation in Miami. I was so inspired by it that I started humming this melody to it. I faceTime my co-writer right away and in no more than twenty minutes later sitting under the palm trees this gigantic song was born. two hours later all my lyrics for it where completed. This track opened the flood gates of creativity since then and today I am about to finish a brand new EP. We love “Drama Queen”! It’s very powerful! How did you write this song, and what does it mean to you? Drama queen was a very deliberate song writing. The song is about paying proper respect to other people no matter what. One thing that kept happening to me in NYC was that I would run into people over and over again, folks that I’ve met before and even spoke to and so many times people will ignore me or act like we never seen each other. I don’t expect a full stop and conversation but one thing about me is that I will never be too good to acknowledge anyone on the street. If I know you, I will at list nod. This song represent inner strength to me, respect and attitude. Most of all the freedom to say whats on my mind. Hand the attitude back. Who or what would you say inspires you the most to pursue and put your time and passion into music? Of course major artist and their stage shows. I love performance, I love hearing a crowed in the heights of excitements it give me goos bumps all over. I’m dying to feel that. But mostly, my passion lays in music itself. Melodies, lyrics, feeling, thoughts, emotions. I live and breathe it. Music has helped me so much in my life, it made feel, it made go through hard, happy, sad events. It made me dance, it gave me life. Also, I am a taurus very stubborn and when I set a goal for myself, I do it with the outmost passion and drive. I’m like a pit bull once my jews are locked I don’t let go! What’s next for you? Well today I perform eight shows a week on Broadway in Phantom of the opera, and on my days off I travel to New Jersey to wrap up my new EP project a Pop Hop style produced mostly by Majik Reed at the Hits Lab. I’ve been working on it the whole summer and about to release my first single off it. Then in the fall, release the rest. I am so excited about this project. I know I have few major hits on it! And also because I am back to my dance roots, this EP as a whole makes me want to dance and I can’t wait to start performing and sharing it with everyone. - Livendure Updates BuzzMusic On Recent Release!
Hey Livendure! Amazing to have you on BuzzMusic! How has it been with you and your music thus far? It's been pretty good. This is my debut album, and I did the whole thing myself, 100% DIY, from writing up to mixing/mastering. So it's had its ups and downs, and been a learning experience for sure. Your latest track "Evergreen" is heavy-hitting, aggressive, yet atmospheric! This has to be our favorite track off of your album "Gray". What kind of ambiance were you hoping to project onto listeners from this track in particular? I was going for a dark, sort of psychedelic space, but also intense and maybe a little angry haha. The lyrics are pretty existential in nature, so I wanted to portray that somehow. As a punk metal artist, what kind of obstacles do you face with your musical production? Well, since I come from the punk/metal DIY background, recordings I've done for my bands in the past have been pretty grungy. Which works well for punk/metal music, but not so much for the stuff I'm doing now. So clarity and cleanliness in my recordings has been my biggest challenge lately. Your resume really goes back far with the music industry! You've been involved in an incredible amount of music projects. How do you think your past experience has shaped you and the way your music is curated today?! Yeah I started my first band in 2003, when I was 13, and ever since then I've been in bands of various genres and doing solo projects on the side. So I've picked up tools and tricks from each different genre that I try to incorporate into what I'm doing now. The biggest thing I strive for is being flexible, and not limited to one particular genre. As a musician I want to give myself as many opportunities as possible, so I try to incorporate my favorite parts of my favorite genres into what I'm doing to hopefully achieve a sound that is particularly me, yet versatile. Now that "Gray" has been released, what's coming up for you now? Well I'm still in the process of releasing bonus material for my album 'Gray', such as music/lyric videos, alternate mixes, instrumental mixes, etc. Also, I have a handful of songs already in the works for my second album, which I hope to release early 2020. And lastly I'm working on a collection of instrumental beats, and will be releasing them under my real name, Jonjosef Holland. Over the past 7 years, audiences have seen Thrillhouse grow and evolve to become a master of his craft. In 2017, the Vancouver-based artist set out on a mission to disrupt the traditional electronic music scene and concoct a unique, genre-bending sound. “In Ya Brain” is an entrancing, intensifying wash of noise and color. It’s industrially gritty and melodically entrancing. Production wise you really start to notice the difference between those who rush a release and those who take the time to fine tune every moment. The beat within “In Ya Brain” sounds superb, the entire soundscape does, but the beat has found itself marching perfectly between intensity and translucency. There’s next to nothing to compare it to. Those opening, slightly tribal vibes present a misleading and now exciting sense of quiet, the calm before the storm. What’s clever about the creative production is that you don’t see the onslaught approaching, there’s no pause and subsequent heavy drop like there would be in a traditional House piece. Somehow, Thrillhouse captures and contains you within this whirlwind of audio escapism. You hardly notice the transition, but you appreciate the result. The looping build-up works brilliantly and you can easily tell that a live show would be all the more mesmerizing to witness. Absolutely worth adding to the long-term playlist, we can’t wait to see what Thrillhouse delivers next. Check out “In Ya Brain” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hi Thrillhouse! How old were you when you released your very first track? Hi! I was 26 when I released my first track. How does your earlier music compare to your recent release “In Ya Brain”? It doesn't really, the music I first put out was pretty amateur and I have taken it down from platforms because of that. I feel that the music I am making nowadays is a better representation of me overall. Tell us what you want your listeners to take away from “In Ya Brain"! I hope that it makes people dance! And that it can inspire people to create whatever comes them naturally, whether it be music or anything else they create. When you’re not making music, what do you do? Lately I have been on the mend from a back injury. So a lot of physiotherapy and a LOT of music. There is a lot more of coming and if I'm being honest I think it is my best yet. Other than that, video games both new and old. That is another place I get lots of inspiration from, sound design in video games can be so well done and influential that I try to incorporate that into my music sometimes. What inspired you to keep making music everyday? Being injured helps push me to make music every day. It is one of the only things I can physically do and it also helps keep me sane. Having an outlet to empty everything that goes on in my head is crucial and really does keep me sane. At the same time it has helped me to create my best music I have ever made so far. Before I started making music I was losing myself, partying too much and not doing a whole lot or being productive. Music keeps me grounded and gives me purpose and direction. Now it's the most important thing to me. I have 4 singles coming up, 2 of which are done and 2 that are in the works. They just keep getting better and better.
