Stay on the lookout for Yung Hop and his future musical endeavors. Listen to “Kickback” here and read more with Yung Hop in our exclusive interview below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? How did you know you wanted to start making music? Yung Hop here checking in for the one time. I’ve been rapping for about a year now so its really cool that BuzzMusic wanted to do a piece on one of my songs. I started rapping because I was bored, and always had a way with words, so why not translate it into music. I have always been a big music fan. My favorite artists of all time are Lil Wayne, The Game, and Lil Uzi Vert. “Kickback” is a dope track! What inspired it? To be honest, I was just bored one night and wanted to make a remix for my song “House Party”. The hook was the very last thing I wrote on the song. That came to me one night when I was working on cover art with my friend for another song, and we were airdropped a flier for a kickback. Coincidentally, I was also listening to beats at the time so I just started freestyling and the hook kinda just caught on and stuck with this one beat. That was when I knew I had a hit on my hands, everything just seemed to line up like it was meant to be. What’s the hip-hop music scene like in your hometown? Originally there was only 3 main underground rappers. D Guapo, 3300 Breezy, and I. We created the wave for our hometown and since then its picked up, but all the new people just sound the same, and lack originality. I feel that I’ve created my own sound and have found my niche to differentiate myself and stand out from the crowd as I am 1 of 1. What would be your dream venue to perform? Most people would say a big music festival like Rolling Loud or Coachella Fest. Personally, I’d love to perform at a nightclub or even a stripclub in Vegas. Either or will for sure get turned out and be a movie. What’s next for you? It’s really just up from here. I strive off constantly trying to improve and evolve my sound. We are halfway through 2019 and I have already out done my streaming numbers from last year. As much as I boast about being the King of the Coachella Valley, it is because I do the numbers to back it up. I am still a long way from where I want to be, but I know with consistent and constant hard work I will reach my goals. "Back Again" will have everyone feeling ready to take on the second half of 2019. Check out “Back Again” (ft. Kampaign) here and scroll down for our interview with Ty’Dre. Hi Ty’Dre! Can you tell us a bit about your upbringing and how you got started making music? I was born in Scarborough and moved to Brampton when I was kid. I was always writing music just for fun as a kid. I would make little remixes of songs with my friends just for laughs. How I got into making music seriously though was through certain life experiences that made me turn to music as an outlet. For every down moment and struggle there was a song, and when I got to sharing those songs with those that were around me, there was something about how it moved them. They found it therapeutic as well. That reaction gives me the drive to continue pursuing it seriously everyday. Who are your top three musical influences and why? I can’t say I have 3 because whoever I like listening to can sometimes influence my sound. But I could tell you who made me really take the leap into making music seriously though, and that’s Dave East. Why ? Because of how he combines his grit with his unique flow and his story telling ability altogether in his music. Everything about his delivery is just pure hunger and I can relate to that! Tell us about your song “Back Again”! What inspired this? Back Again was inspired by just me feeling like I was finally doing what I was meant to do and feeling like I finally found my sound! It was the perfect way to come back and introduce my redefined sound -- and share my totally new focus that I have now. I wanted it to be known that I’m “Back Again” !!! But much better than you last heard. What would be your dream venue to perform? Hmm I don’t know if I could say I have one dream venue I’d like to perform at, but something I really can’t wait to experience is performing at these festivals. The turn out and crowd responses are amazing. How does the music you make now compare to when you first started making music? I would say The difference between the music I make now versus when I first started making music is a few things: my sound, confidence, and quality! Everything I put out, no matter the style, will be a quality body of work; and I have a lot of different styles that I plan to show all of my fans with the next string of singles and collaborations I have on the way soon. And eventually, a full project. So be on the lookout, and be prepared to be surprised ! Connect with Ty’Dre on social media www.instagram.com/tydrebh
- Megan Steinke’s “Everywhere You Go” Music Video Is OUT NOW!
Megan Steinke is a jazz and soul inspired singer/songwriter from San Jose, California. Her passion for music began in a funny way, when she was 17 her sister wanted to record some Christmas songs as a gift for their Mom. Megan experimented with writing her own songs and her passion grew from there. She currently performs around the Central Coast and produces/records her own music. Megan’s album "Another Side" was released in Feb 2019, showcasing her piano/guitar playing, smooth vocals, and collaborations with other rising artists. Megan writes about her experiences, her faith, and her dreams. Megan wants to be real in her music and in her messages, and her Christian faith inspires a lot of her lyrics. She also uses music to vent about inner conflict and hardships. Her musical inspirations come from old and new artists, including Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lianne La Havas, and many more. “Everywhere You Go” is a spectacular single from Megan Steinke. The music video features gorgeous landscapes and settings that seem to match Megan’s soulful energy. Part of the music video as filmed at Guitar Showcase in San Jose, the same place Megan bought her first guitar! The song weaves through storytelling elements of Megan’s deep connection with that guitar. With the stunning visuals, we’re blessed with Megan Steinke’s effortless and flawless performance and overall chill, jazzy vibe. She’s equipped with a contagious energy that makes you sing along and feel right at home. Her craft is finely-tuned beyond her years and the video for “Everywhere You Go” gives us a small glimpse at who Megan is as an artist. “Everywhere You Go” spreads an energy of acceptance and positivity and we can’t get enough. We love what this young up and comer brings to the table and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table next. Check out “Everywhere You Go” here and the incredible visuals below! Keep scrolling for Megan Steinke’s chat with BuzzMusic! Hi Megan! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We love the music video for “Everywhere You Go”, it’s so creative! Was this your first experience filming like this? Tell us more about it! This was my first time filming with my videographer (Nicholas Domaguing), and it was such a cool experience! He’s had so much experience with music videos, and he really helped me by asking about the meaning of the song and how we can translate that into a video. A lot of the scenes we shot were planned, but many of them were also spontaneous. For example, we stumbled across a carousel at the park we filmed near, and I thought it would be perfect to add even more fun and innocence to the video! I’m also thankful I got to work with someone who made my own vision come to life, like that beginning scene with the headphones coming out, or my mom coming in at the end of the video. Aside from ideas, the actual filming took basically two full days of filming and running around, which was tiring but worth it! Where were the outdoor scenes in “Everywhere You Go” filmed? Those outdoor scenes in the beginning were filmed in Vasona Park in San Jose, which is also where the carousel scene was! We found a little hidden nook there for the performance shots, which was really cool and perfect for lighting. The later sunset shots are at the top of a place in San Jose called Communications Hill – I love that place, super beautiful and nice to visit for a good city view. You seem extremely comfortable and natural in front of the camera, what were you feeling during the shoot? Honestly I was feeling very relaxed, and had a lot of fun with it. Nicholas gave me pointers here and there about performing, but it all felt very natural. Since I’ve had experience with music video performing in the past with “Another Side (feat. Rachel Steinke),” I’ve become more and more used to performing to a lens. I owe thanks to one of my best friends Michelle Johnson for being the first to film a video for me (and do photoshoots with me), because she gave me so much helpful instruction from behind the camera and made me comfortable with it. What inspired you to go to Guitar Showcase as part of this video? What does that guitar shop mean to you? This guitar shop is special to me because it’s local to my home. I love it there because it’s small, and it reminds me of when my dad would take me there when I was younger. It’s such a welcoming place, and they were beyond willing to let us film there. It’s also special to me because it’s where I found my Ibanez guitar. I had only been playing my mom’s old acoustic before this, and when I laid eyes on this electric I fell in love. What’s your favorite part in the video? I have a lot of favorite moments, but strangely one of my absolute favorite moments is right after I take out my headphones in the beginning. There is just a moment of silence before the song where I’m thinking and looking out, and I just think it’s a beautiful day-dreaming moment. During the video, I also love the moments of me walking in the grassy fields. Overall I’m super happy with the effect of it all! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in the music industry? Hey, glad to be talking to you guys! My start in the music industry came from me just picking up a guitar a couple years ago and running with it, after I started doing that I developed an interest in producing and writing and singing and have just been working on all of those and I have a lot of fun with it! Is your track “You’re Right” related to your real life experiences? “You’re Right” is actually one of my first songs where it’s not based off of any actual life experience the first words “two nights in a row don’t you know I got a thing for ya” just came to me when I was listening to the beat trying to find inspiration and I just wrote from there kind of creating this word that these two people existed in during a fight in a relationship and how one person in that relationship was reacting to the situation and I really enjoyed just getting to create that narrative and the ways I could go with a situation that was fictional versus how I normally tell a story from my life. Who are your musical influences and how did you pull them for your new track “You’re Right” ? My musical influences really change as I go but really the two I tried to draw from for this song are John Mayer and Daniel Caesar, I was really trying to go for an R&B sound tonally with my guitar and I absolutely love how Daniel Caesar uses drums in his songs and that was a major inspiration for this track, I think there may have been some self conscious Eagles inspiration in there as well, the riff I use in the solo and the chord progression remind me a lot of “Hotel California”. What would be your dream venue to perform at? My dream venue would be to play Wembley Stadium over in the UK ever since Ed Sheeran sold it out in 2015 that’s always been something that I’ve wanted to do When you’re not making music what do you do? When I’m not making music I’m usually hanging out with friends at a local coffee shop, or playing at open mics I really love going out to play my 15 minutes of music and then getting to hear the diversity of local music I feel like there’s always a lot of inspiration there Connect with Riley Phillips on social media www.instagram.com/rileyplaysguitar www.twitter.com/rileycphillips

I was always fascinated with creating chords. My grandmother was an incredible piano player who sang as well. I always grew up watching her play in church. Tell us more about “Girlfriend”! What’s your favorite part of the track? Well, GIRLFRIEND, is about the time I met my current girlfriend. Lol. Literally inspired the song. All of my music I wrote from true facts about my life and where am at in the moment. My fav part is the throw back *NSYNC vibe I put in the prehook. What was your childhood/ upbringing into music like? My parents use to put headphones on my mothers belly when she was pregnant and would play various types of music depending on the mood of the day. They say it contributes a lot. I always grew up dancing in the corner and singing. I feel like a combination of everything just led to the inevitable. How does your sound differ and compare to some of your earlier releases? I def would say the my current sound reflects more of my personality with who I am compared to last music. I think it’s important for every artist to know who they are and what they want to say to the world. We’re all unique... so just the world you. What can your fans expect from “Good Guy Off Track”? Um... well... haha. I’m trying something new. Instead of releasing it as one package, I’m releasing it through singles. It still tells the story I wanted to portray, but so much has happened with my life in a short amount of time that I thought it best this way. - Pop/EDM Duo Nicole & Scotty Turn Heads With “#Queen”
Nicole & Scotty are a Pop/EDM sibling duo based in Southern California. The dynamic pair are recording/performing artists, songwriters, musicians, audio engineers and producers. Recently featured on Billboard Sound, the SoCal duo is making waves in the music industry. Their debut single “#Queen” has achieved over 55k streams on Spotify and over 26k views on the official music video via YouTube since it's release on October 5th, 2018. Nicole & Scotty's chemistry is undeniable throughout “#Queen”. Not only is the production incredible, but the melody and ups and downs of this song are so empowering and so fun to vibe with. This song stays true to its name, allowing the listener to relate every lyric to their own situation and feel inspired and empowered. I love the confident vocals that are flawless and intoxicating. Nicole’s vocals are completely mesmerizing and hard-hitting. The uplifting anthem and transcendent track “#Queen” is a motivational song that gives confidence to any listener. Nicole & Scotty’s blood connection and what they have been through together has created a strong chemistry. They have a story to tell through their music and I think this track “#Queen” is just a peek into what’s to come from these two. Listen to “#Queen” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hey guys! Can you tell us a bit more about yourselves? Hey there! Totally! So we're Nicole & Scotty, a sister/brother duo from Los Angeles, SoCal. We are recording/performing artists, songwriters, producers, and audio engineers. We write and record our own original Pop music, which basically has a singer/songwriter, lyrical vibe that meets Trip-Hop and electronic beats. We've been working in music since we started our YouTube channel (TheMusicInMe777) 6 years ago, and got our start after we were discovered and invited on tour by Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. What’s the writing process like for a brother/sister duo? It's actually awesome! We've always been like best friends to one another and super close since we were little (people even often mistake us for twins haha!) So we have kind of a telepathic, sibling connection going on that really serves us well through the writing process. Most of the time we start by Nicole writing lyrics and melody concepts. Then, Scotty writes chords and starts to build the production of each song around the core of the song itself (lyrics, melody, chords). We love writing together. What makes you both so passionate about music? Life can be rough, right? We've both been through some gnarly times (school stress and bullying when we were younger, family stress, anxiety, depression, social pressure, etc) and growing up, the remedy for getting through all that was always listening to our favorite songs. Sharing our personal stories through our own songs is cathartic. If we can help even one person feel less alone through our music, we feel like we've done our job. Nothing reconnects people to themselves quite like music does. Who are your biggest inspirations musically? Dang that's a tough question! We have so many. Taylor Swift has been Nicole's biggest inspiration to treat each song like it's a diary entry since she was young. Scotty's guitar hero is John Mayer through and through, and he's crazy about DJs like Illenium, Said The Sky, Alison Wonderland, Rezz, etc. We both adore acts that are on the rise or new to the scene such as Billie Eilish, Frankie, Nina Nesbitt, Jess Kent, Terror Jr., AlunaGeorge. We love music of all different varieties and genres, so we've really drawn inspiration from countless artists. But especially from the wide variety of indie songwriters on the up and up, working relentlessly to have their voices and stories heard. Making our own way through the industry independently these past 6 years, we've had the absolute pleasure to be exposed to sheer, raw talent that deserves to be put in the spotlight. We always encourage people to dig deeper than what's advertised and discover artists who are just getting started. “#Queen” is an awesome track! Can you tell the readers more about the meaning behind it? Thanks a ton, we're really glad you enjoyed! So a few years ago, I found myself caught up in what would have turned into an abusive relationship with a guy who exhibited many controlling traits. He wasn't sure of his own career path, but he basically wanted to take advantage of who I was as a singer/songwriter to further his own endeavors. Asking me to write songs for him, hook him up with my connections, get him playing at the venues Scotty and I were playing at. After I cut ties with him, I was feeling pretty put down and used. I needed a confidence booster. I needed to write a song that reminded me that I'm worth more than what that guy thought of me, and that I'm stronger for what I went through, so we wrote #Queen. Our hope is that other girls (or anyone really!) feeling taken advantage of or put down will be reminded that they are (and should be treated like) royalty. And no less. What's next for you two? We're currently working on condensing years of original material into a 2 part EP (most likely 5 to 6 songs each), that we'll hopefully be able to release very soon! We went on tour earlier this year and we're constantly booking new shows, so keep up with us on social media and catch one if you can! - Exclusive Interview: Revolt Coda From Chicago
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Revolt Coda. how has the journey been so far as a band? what are some main challenges you guys face and how do you overcome these obstacles? Thank you so much for talking to us, you guys have been so supportive of our band and we are so appreciative. I’m Zac Conforti, the singer and guitarist of the band. The journey has been wild, we have played hundreds of shows, played SXSW, had many line up changes, and just released our first record. It’s a been a crazy ride but we’re so excited for what the future holds. Some challenges are just balancing our every day lives outside of the band while maintaining focus on the band, building buzz in other cities other than our home town of Chicago, but the new record has definitely helped. How do you manage to fuse together the multiple personalities into one unit that makes Revolt Coda? All four of us are part of the creative process so it really helps us all contribute to create our own original sound. Are there any bands you would consider influences or major inspirations for you? Absolutely we’re all fans of the classics. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Sabbath, Metallica, The Beatles, etc. but when it comes to newer jams... I can’t speak for everyone but I personally have seen Portugal. The Man 30 times. Haha even the band members themselves know I love them. Tame Impala is another huge favorite, just saw them at Lollapalooza last week. Crazy to think I saw them on the smallest stage 10 years ago, and now I just saw them headline the festival I grew up going to. Surreal. Epic experience to watch them grow, and inspiration for us to get on that level one day. How would you describe your musicality? What makes your songs so unique? I think what makes our sound unique is that we aren’t one genre. We all bring different influences and styles of song writing to the table but we find a way to create a cohesive sound. What's next for Revolt Coda? We just put out the record. We have got nothing but great feedback on it, so we’re so thankful for everyone who listens. We got some more new tunes in the works already, and our planning to hit our region a bit. Play for people in Iowa City, Milwaukee, Nashville, before eventually coming out to California and coming to play for you guys! Let’s set it up ASAP! Thanks again for talking with us! Hey, first of all I’d like to say it’s a pleasure to be featured here on Buzz Music LA. I’ve always been an artistic individual. I started off by drawing, which my pops really taught me how to do. I spent a lot of time locked away with music blasting and a sketch pad. When I got to highschool that evolved into painting and a little media arts. I always loved music though. There was never a time when I didn’t have some sort of music playing around me. It always reflected how I felt, and the lyrics usually meant something to me. So somewhere around that time I stumbled upon a demo version of Fl studio and started messing around with it. I was about 16 at the time and the computer I had used to do that with wasn’t any good for taking it farther than some sound loops. I only ever showed one person my stuff around that time, Kiya, she was like a big sis to me back then. Shout out to her cuz she still remembers that. But after we got out of highschool the homie Tone began to solidify D.O.P.E. Society as an entity, alongside Fredericks Reginald and a few other individuals. I wasn’t too involved at that time, but always rated the work and showed love to my brothers. Around the age of 21 I picked back up beat making, and shared my work with the guys. The homies, Fredericks Reginald and Jae Remi being amazing lyricists and poets, appreciated my sound and encouraged me to grow my production skills. As my instrumentals got better and I saved some loot up I began to purchase equipment and started recording both of them over my beats. We have a ton of old unreleased work that will probably never see the light of day haha. That’s because I had no clue how to engineer. So that was the next thing that I learned to do. Somewhere around the end of last year, I was going through a lot and was losing my mind. I started writing to my instrumentals at this time, and well her we are now. Who are you musical influences and how do they inspire you? Well the list can go on and on because I’ve been able to soak in so much different kinds of music, thanks to my Dukes, the homies and different encounters. I come from a Trini background, so my parents would be playing a lot of old Calypso, Soca, Reggae, some dancehall. But they also loved a lot of RnB like Luther Vandross and a lot of music from the 80’s like Michael Jackson, Commodores, Bryan Adams, and the list goes on. Coming to Canada at the age of 4 I was introduced to hiphop and loved it. Growing to love guys like Biggie, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Ludacris, production styles by Dr. Dre, Timbaland and more. I always loved Timbaland’s production style. His songs always had a particular infectious bounce to it. When I was a teen I found an Eminem Album, “The Marshall Mathers LP” and had that on repeat. With his story telling, flows, and ability to make you feel what he’s talking about, he’s definitely a huge inspiration for me. What’s your track “Love Long” about? What was your writing process like for this song? Well I’d say it’s A summer romance track. An ode to all the wifeys there that send their men mad but are in it for the long hall. I tried to come with a bright hiphop infused with dancehall/soca sound for the instrumental, and tried to stick with that vibe the hook and bridge vocals. I’d Say the process was very organic. I had a loop of the beginning stages of the beat playing when Freddy and Remi pulled up. They vibed out to it and instantly began writing. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? I just hope that my listeners are emotionally effected by my music. I hope they can relate to it and are able to throw on different tracks of mine that reflect their feelings and thoughts in those moments. What’s next for Soul Supplier? More Music!! I’ll be releasing more music with the months to come. A few singles, and my first EP will be dropping at the end of the year. Fredericks Reginald and Jae Remi will also be releasing a bunch of music produced by me and other talented producers. Keep a look out for us over at Dope Society, we’re coming.
