Check out our exclusive interview with Robyn Bennett as we discuss her brand new song "It's Not Over"! Hi Robyn - welcome to BuzzMusic! Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hi, my name is Robyn Bennett and I’m an American singer living in Paris, France. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and moved to France about 10 years ago to dedicate my career to making music. We have been touring around Europe and making records for the past 10 years and our 3rd album of original songs “GLOW” came out on February 1st! What was the inspiration behind your music video and what would you like your viewers/listeners to take away from it? The inspiration behind “It’s not Over” is just about realising that there is still so much in store for me as an artist and as a human being. Sometimes, we can get caught up in everything that’s happening (or not happening) and feel stuck artistically. This is just about realizing that all that has happened good and bad has shaped who I am and has made the person who I am today and there is still so much more to come! Did the songwriting and composition for this song come easily to you? The songwriting process for this song (as with most songs on this album) came quite easily. All the songs on our album were co-written by Ben van Hille and myself. Ben plays the trombone in the band and also does all the arranging. We work really well together and things just sort of seem to flow. What do you hope to accomplish with your music? I hope to make people feel something through my music, whether they feel happy and want to bust a move or if a song provokes something in them that makes them want to cry, that’s good too. I just hope that people can relate to what I’m saying and that they can feel whatever it is they need to feel through the music. Can you tell us a bit about this lyric, “You will not be the one to look back at their youth”? This lyric is just about not being too nostalgic and thinking that everything was so much better or easier when I was younger. I think it was actually harder ! Also, not looking back too much and thinking “oh I should have done that or I could have done that”, but just really living the moment and taking it all as it comes without any regrets. What is your favorite lyric of the song? “Thinking that every chance, every dance, every song, every wrong is bringing me oh so close to who I am”. Who or what would you say is your biggest influence on your newest album? I would say our biggest influence on this new album is New Orleans. We spent a month in Algiers Point soaking it all in and that’s where the writing of this album began. We were so inspired by all the music and the people in New Orleans, there is so much soul and life there. - On The Rise: Panama Dreams Release New Song “Dreaming Out”
A product of the Yonkers, NY the band Panama Dreams stays true to their rugged upbringing. Often they’re admired by their ability to seamlessly mix different music genres together effortlessly, Panama Dreams delivers their music with a ferocity and presence that is much needed in current music. Their single “Dreaming Out” has this edgy, alternative rock projection in the hook while transitioning back to a soft, melodic and dream-like delivery. The song has this all-around grit that’s appreciated and seems to stick to their profound conviction of emotion and sentiment. I like the progressive climax in the vocals. They build power as the song moves alongside the lyrics, like a specific story they’re aiming to tell. It’s hard to say with their intricate, yet melodies and subtle lyrics, it would be easy for a listener to instantly decipher the meaning behind the music however, I believe we can dissect the song and uncover the context behind it which creates an imaginative moment for us. Panama Dreams recently released their new music for their new single! Be sure to check out the video and full interview, below! Listen to "Dreaming Out" here. Hi there! Care to introduce yourselves to our readers? Hi, I'm Steven from the project Panama Dreams. How did you form the name “Panama Dreams”? The name has a strange backstory. I was a solo singer songwriter in NYC for a bit and I was constantly switching up my stage name. Eventually a buddy of mine called me Panama Steve. I literally laughed out loud. Now the reason he called me "Panama" has a deeper meaning. Unfortunately, I don't think the statute of limitations is up. I'll give a little context. It involves a "connect" who was from Panama. Allegedly! How has it been making music so far as a band? Making music as a band has been a breeze honestly. I write all the songs, lyrics, and progressions. From there, my best friend Tony lays down drums and bass. So there's no contention or weird energy. Everyone serves an integral part, and we play to that really well. Did you face in challenges in the creation of “Dreaming Out” ? With "Dreaming Out" in particular it was the hook that came first. The pre chorus into the hook just came out from what I remember. I think I was going for more of a stream of consciousness approach for this one. In terms of challenges I often struggle most with what I call the “connective tissue” of the song. Which is those little moments that connect a verse and chorus. Or how to approach the bridge. The subtle dynamics are what challenge me the most. In your artist perspective, how would you interpret “Dreaming Out”? Dreaming Out is completely autobiographical. It’s one of the few songs that had a bit of intention in the writing process. In most cases the song writes itself and then I attempt to create context from there. With “Dreaming Out” I was intentionally channeling my childhood. Being abandoned as a kid and dealing with drugs, violence, and poverty at a young age. The line “no shoes, a cold street was warmer than my heart” sums the song up pretty well. As a kid our environment shapes who we become later in life. If we are hurt, we build up walls to protect ourselves. A means of keeping the bad stuff out. In most cases we spend our entire lives breaking those walls down to let love in. It’s about finding energy from struggle. Despite the dark undertones it’s a song about hope against all odds. Have you guys went on tour yet? If not or if so, how do you plan on channeling your emotions live? We haven’t been on a formal tour. We play out in the NYC area monthly, sometimes multiple times a month. We’re definitely a very active live band. I put a premium on being an emotionally honest performer so each night is a new night. There’s definitely a lot of angst on this album, but I never want to force the emotion. If I’m connecting to the piece of music in that moment it comes out very organically. - #NowPlaying: Czechmate Releases Fiery Addicting Single “Talk Shit”
Czechmate, a devoted creatrix of the EDM scene, set course for an enterprising career decades before she began her artistic craft. Born in Vrchlabi, Czech Republic in 1996, fate was preparing her with music from an early age. She enjoyed the high energy of Dance Pop, practiced piano, and played the saxophone in a symphonic band. Destiny brought the young girl to the United States when she was just eleven years old. The beat of the music was her calling, and after years of dance and choir, the four by four rhythm caught her heart’s attention. Inspiring potent energy for gyrating bodies became her passion. Her ear teasing track selection is as fierce as her insatiable attitude for intensity. Czechmate recently released the fiery and addicting single “Talk Shit”. The overwhelming party sensation you feel while listening to this record is what makes “Talk Shit” a standout hit from other similar EDM releases. You become quickly absorbed by the function it creates in your head. Rather you’re listening to this song alone or with company, you’re bound to lose any care in the world, and channel in your fearless attributes. “Talk Shit” has this way of making you feel like a badass. The repetitive lyrics and electric dance sound becomes engraved in our memory where we will find ourselves replaying the song in our heads over and over. It’s the gravitating atmosphere and the entrance of a more carefree, vibrant, and charismatic personality you may have thought was difficult to unleash! All you needed was the right song, and a song like “Talk Shit” to do the bidding. Bravo, Czechmate! An excellent release indeed. Listen to “Talk Shit” here and get to know Czechmate in our interview below, as we discuss the new track and her rising career in the music industry! Hi there, care to introduce yourself to our readers? Ahoj! My name is Czechmate, I love anything related to performing arts, vegan dishes, 10hr sleeps, and fitness! I have been making noise on my computer for the past couple years and have fell in love ever since. I picked up my first controller over 4 years ago and taught myself how to mix, so I started off as a DJ first. My life revolves around music and I can`t think of anything else I`d rather be pursuing to be honest! Do you remember the first song you’ve produced? Yes, it`s mixed very poorly and has became sort of a joke of my SoundCloud. However, I decide to keep it on there because it really shows I had no idea what I was doling at first but am proud of how far I have come and still continue to progress. I`m still learning after all and will keep learning until I am old and wrinkly! haha It`s called "Booty Ass Bounce" feat. Kassette, check it out, have a laugh.. What attracted you most to the EDM scene? High energy music and dancing! When I was 5 years old my parents signed me up for competitive dance classes and I absolutely loved it! I love to dance, put on a show, choose my playlist and house music gives me life so that`s why! ;) What are some misinterpretations do you think people conceive on the genre of DJing and EDM? I suppose the biggest one that irks me is that everyone who likes EDM is a pill popping machine, and that DJs do nothing but get wrecked and do coke all night... LOL I`m sure there`s plenty of people and DJs who happen to fit that description but I am neither one of those. Everyone is entitled to do whatever they`d like with their bodies, I`m no angel myself but I think there`s more to this scene and electronic dance music in general. How would you personally musically categorize yourself? Currently, I am on a darker house vibe. I play and produce anything from G-House, and Bass House to Electro and Deep House. Depends on the energy in the room before I hit the decks! What’s next for you? Heaps of new music, more shows, defining what Czechmate really sounds like, growing my YouTube channel, more brand collaborations, fitness related brand work, and so on! I`m really excited and motivated this year, making 2019 the most creative and productive year of my life yet. Haha I am also graduating this Spring with double majors and starting at Sacramento State University next Fall which is a huge accomplishment for me so you best believe I will not be taking any time off while pursuing my career. Bring it on, I can do it all! - Release Radar: Heroine Releases New Song “Sundays”
Brooklyn based songwriting Duo, Heroine, is made up of Bridget Linsenmeyer and Ines Nassara. This dynamic duo is known for their catchy power anthem and remarkably compelling unison signing. Heroine proudly uses both their music and their artist image to advocate for intersectional empowerment of women. You can hear their very first single, a dark groove-based pop anthem, “Cry Mercy”. You can find this single on all musical platforms. We can expect their debut EP “The Heroine EP” Spring of this year. In the meantime we get to hear the release of the first single “Sundays”. Wow! A harmonic tune that is ultra satisfying to the senses. I mean they are so in sync that at times you couldn’t distinguish the difference in the two. And that is a wonderful thing. The single gives way to both voices individually and as one. This duo is soulful and powerful and gives a voice to women and really all! There is an emotionally driven message behind this song and I would love to know more about it. Heroine has given us a delicacy here with “Sundays”. Listen to "Sundays" here. INTERVIEW Hello ladies. Do you mind introducing yourselves and how did you two meet? Hi! We’re Heroine— made up of Bridget Linsenmeyer (26) and Ines Nassara (27). We both grew up in two different parts of Maryland, but met when we both attended Towson University for undergrad. We first knew of each because we had the same voice teacher (we both secretly wanted to be friends haha) and later became close when we did Spring Awakening, the musical together in 2013 at Towson. Where do you see yourselves taking your music this year? Our biggest plan this year is to release our debut EP, “the HEROINE ep.” We’re so excited to be kicking it off with the release of “Sundays.” We’ve been working hard on the EP for the past 2 years so we can’t wait to finally get to share it with everyone! We’re planning to do an East Coast tour to promote the project and continue playing as much as we can while also writing new music to work toward a future full length album. We’re feeling ambitious about 2019 and hope to work our way over to LA for a show in the near future as well! What helped guide the direction of this new single “Sundays”? “Sundays” was originally written on piano and is based on a personal story about finding unexpected forgiveness and clarity after the pain of a really hard breakup. We knew the recording of this song could go in a few different directions, so we initially tried a much bigger arrangement -with guitar as the main instrument and a string section. This ending up sounding more film-like, which was a fun experiment for us, but we ultimately decided the size of that arrangement took away from the storytelling and the intimacy of the lyrics (which revolves around forgiveness and an appreciation of a person you once loved)— we knew it needed less. This led us to the arrangement that we hear today, which is just piano and voice. What do you do when you two don’t see eye to eye on music? We’ve found that what really works for us as a team is to voice all of our ideas. If there’s something we see differently, we like to try out all of our options and see what happens. After we do this, we’re able to see how each idea functions and talk about what would be the most effective choice. Throughout the process of working on our debut EP, we’ve really learned that we benefit from taking the time we need to hear and decide what’s best for the song. Where can we find your music and your online presence? You can find our music on all major streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes etc.). - Exclusive: Corbella Releases Brand New Electrifying Hit Single "Storm"
Rock and Roll is alive and well in Austin in the music of the up-and-coming band Corbella, whose performance casts a spell on you, seduces you, breaks your heart and leaves you wanting more! This reborn rock band is led by powerhouse Britny Lobas, featuring bassist Russell Simonson, drummer Alec Cabrera and guitarist Ricky Jones. Corbella transverses styles from soul and pop to powerful, anthemic, down-and-dirty riff-rock grooves. The funky release of their single “Storm” starts off with their sassy and attitude-filled introduction that includes the electrifying instruments and timed fusion of staccato and legato vocals. The song has this aggressive approach that weaves between the lines of reckless and bold. I like the alternative, edgy feel it gives off. Corbella wasn’t lying when they said they have the ability to cast a spell on you. They grasp your attention with ear-piercing and powerful vocal resonance, carrying the song across the board of smashing Rock n Roll. You just instantly feel like a badass while listening. The tone “Storm” gives off is this organized but chaotic sense of living where you just feel a little bit more undisciplined and that’s the beauty of the song. It’s ability to give us the power to channel in our inner charismatic volatile persona! Listen to Corbella's brand new song "Storm" here! INTERVIEW Hello! Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Britny: Sure! I'm Britny Lobas, Cleveland native. I'm the lead singer/songwriter of Austin based rock-n-roll band Corbella. We're all transplants to this amazing city. Russell is from Phoenix, Alec is from Houston, and Ricky from Mordor. How did your band form? Britny: Previously myself, bassist Russell Simonson, and drummer Alec Cabrera were all in a different project for a while. At the end of 2017 the three of us decided we wanted to go in a different direction musically. We took some time off to re-brand, re-focus, and really find the right sound that we wanted. We also wanted to find a guitarist that was the right fit for us, which definitely took some time. A few months had gone by and guitarist Ricky Jones came along. And yes, we actually did find him on Craigslist of all places! It's been amazing working and creating with Ricky, and as a whole band. We all have the same passion, drive, and love for the music we're creating. We move, write, and get along really well together. What has been your most memorable live performance so far and why? Britny: We've been blessed to play some great venues here in Texas. I'd say the one that sticks out for me the most, would be headlining Stubb's back in December. It's just such an iconic venue here in town. To headline and have the room packed with friends and fans that support and love our music, we were just over the moon. If you can collaborate on one huge project with any band of your choice who would you select and why? Britny: Aw man. This is a tough one. There are so many incredible bands and I'm sure none of us would agree on the same one... I'd have to say Paul McCartney. Russ would say Muse or Stevie Wonder. Ricky would say Queens of the Stone Age. Alec would probably say D'Angelo. Do you have any musical influences whom you think played an impact on your artistry? Britny: Absolutely! Well, with 4 different people in the band we have four different types of influences. For me, I grew up singing in church, so my roots dig deep in gospel and soul music. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Amy Winehouse, to more modern day Christina Aguilera and Grace Potter. Also, my dad is a musician and rock-n- roller, so of course I was raised on The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Stones, to name a few. Currently, I'm listening to Zz Ward, Walk the Moon, Dorothy, and from my hometown of Cleveland, my friends, Welshly Arms. Every artist and band has their own individual “why”. What’s the motive and reason behind doing music, what’s your why? Britny: Personally, I really don't know what else I would do. It's been a part of me as long as I can remember. I was born into a musical family. Started singing on stage when I was 6. It's really all I've ever known and all I've wanted to do. It's in me. Music, singing, writing, performing, it gives me a sense of purpose. I release so much into my music, whether I'm writing or performing. I have an intense passion for this, and I crave to connect and touch people with my music. That's what music is all about. Connecting. Feeling. Expressing. Chasing that high. What inspired you to write Storm? Britny: At the time I was going through quite a storm in my life. I felt hopeless and like I would never get through it. Which is a very scary feeling. Then one day luckily something changed in my life and I kinda just did a whole 180, just like that. I had finally overcome what I was going through. And through it all, I had made it out even stronger. So what better thing to do, then put it in a song? What’s next for Corbella? Anything exciting lined up!? Britny: Yes! We are actually headed back in the studio next weekend to finish up our EP! We have a bunch of new music and we can't wait to share it with everyone. Also, some exciting shows this upcoming spring and summer. Also planning some touring around Texas and the surrounding states. - Rapper T.Stone Shows Off His Unique Style With New Single “Deep End”
T.Stone is a Hip Hop artist from Calgary, Alberta who makes songs digestible for everyone with hiss versatile artistry. T.Stone's instrumental choices begin at electronic and end up at pop by the end of a album. T.stone began rapping at the age of 14 and producing at the age of 15. Perfecting his craft and giving the best result possible, his music transcends to the youth and gives them a voice. Not only empowering them, but showing them that a normal, everyday kid can make an impact as well! T.Stone's goal is to bring happiness and reliability back to the hip hop world. T.stone released his single titled “Deep End”, the intricate rap single with a cathodic and voltaic sounding instrumental adds a unique spin and detail to T.stone’s artistry and his way of delivery and flow. The beat had some funky psychedelic components mixed with a light EDM pop flare that we highly enjoyed. T.Stone’s witty bars and charismatic wordplay helped characterize his rap sound and brand. T.stone is an idiosyncratic artist who can’t be categorized into one genre of rap, instead he submerges himself into his own individualistic culture of hip-hop that we will find ourselves oddly enjoying and immensely intrigued by. You can listen to his single here! Hello! Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hey what's up? My name is T.Stone from Calgary, Canada, I'm a hip hop artist and I have a new project out now called 'Lucid'. How would you describe your sound in one adjective? Unique. I think the combination of unpredictable production and different subject matter really brings my sound to a new place. I try to complete everything myself, from the mixing, to the cover art. I want everything to be a true reflection of my message and what I have to offer. Did you ever find any challenges fusing together the styles of pop, electronic, and hip hop? Sometimes a concept of a song just pops in my head then, next thing you know, the beats done, the lyrics are done, it's fully recorded, mixed and mastered in 45 minutes. Or, there's times where it takes a couple days, a couple weeks to fully finish a track. Studying different sounds from different genres has been a challenge, but has opened me up to a world beyond rap. I love pushing myself to cross lines and try something new and to make something that connects with a large variety of people. Can you tell us a little about your recent project? How was this different from anything you've created before? 'Lucid' is an album that has something for everybody. Whether you like hip hop, pop, electronic, club, or psychedelic, it has a song you might like. I worked frequently with my close friend and producer Baebblu throughout the creation of this album, he produced the tracks 'Deep End' and 'Hello? (Wasted)' and really helped set the vibe for this album. Every night, we'd be in his car, parked in an alleyway, bumping beats that we had been making from the time we woke up, until 5 minutes before we met up. I'd choose different beats and narrowed down what I liked, what I didn't like, what we could change etc. I went over different song ideas in my head and made short, catchy, to-the-point concepts that you can digest easily, but sit with for a while. That's why the album is about 20 minutes, it's packed with lots of content in such a short duration, so you can listen multiple times and hear something new every time. A concept that I love about some of my favorite albums. Do you prefer producing music or writing raps? Which comes more natural to you? I love both, but writing has always come naturally to me. I'm always thinking about bars, punchlines, set ups, rhyme schemes and unique flows in my head. I love puns a lot. They help me stay creative and to think of new and weird bars to maybe make somebody laugh or make somebody do a "damn, that's filthy" face. Do you have any musical influences? If so who and how did they impact you? I'd have to go with Big L, Biggie, Nas, Black Thought, Eminem, Jadakiss, Kendrick, Outkast, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Beatles, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Elton John, and ABBA. For the rappers, they influenced me with cadence, technique and forming songs that can educate, as well as come through with tight flows, metaphors and songs that can make you laugh or cry and spread a message. For the singers, they all have influenced me with incredible songwriting, creating melodies and to create songs you can dance or sing along to on a first listen. Without these influences, I wouldn't be close to the artist I am today and I'm forever grateful for that. What’s next for you? 2019 will hopefully be a big year. I'm working a new solo project, a new collaborative project with Baebblu, a new collaborative EP called 'StopDropTopRoll' with the homie Shorty40, fully produced by CashMoneyAp, which will be dropping in the next month or so, a couple business ventures and getting on tour as soon as possible with the crew. Shout out to every one who makes the dream possible, the grind never stops. - Take A Journey Through The Story of StonedFox
StonedFox has a story that needs to be told. A story of the cruelties of mankind and his struggle against the forces that drive him. The story starts with a tale of two lovers, the fox and his vixen. One night as they hunt for hunters, they were hunted and he lost his gal. Broken hearted and torn down vengeance filled his mind. As he silently took a life for the life he lost, he carried on with this pattern for years. Eating medicinal herbs and the mushrooms of the forest to cover the hurt and pain. Until one day as he laid down thinking this was the end, he was spotted by hunters. Ready for one last fight a female tracker stopped the hunters. And instead took him into their camp, bathed him and fed him good. Showing him love and taking him with them as they travel the forest. Years had gone and one day she took him into the woods and he knew this was the moment they had to part ways. And as they embraced and parted ways the elder whispered “Go now StonedFox your spirit has returned.” A story like this is one that entices you to really dive into the life and spirit of the StonedFox. And that is exactly what we will do. I chose the track “Buckets of Blood” on the album Deadman’s Wonderland and I am glad I chose that one. It’s track number two and you can hear the pain through and through. Although his vocals are magnificent, he does a wonderful job of evoking the strong gut wrenching emotion through this track. Along with the lyrical composition matching up perfectly. The production with the heavy guitar and what sounds like an organ really brings out the feeling of the track. Taking you through a story of bloodshed and the pain of what was. As this track closes I am left to want to hear more. Classic ending and wonderful transition into the next track. Listen to "Buckets of Blood" and the full Deadman's Wonderland album here. Hello! If you would please introduce yourself to our readers? Hello gals and guys! Im stonedfox a Canadian alt-folk songwriter! Getting through life one sad tune at a time. How long have you been creating music? I started writing poetry and lyrics pretty young probably around 8 or so. I was then able to get my hands on an electric guitar at 13 and christ there was nothing better then that feeling of putting chords to your own words, I haven’t stopped since. What musical inspirations do you pull from? I try to pull inspiration from everywhere movies, conversations on the street, nightmares you know?!? But musically I usually stick to those songwriters with something to say or who are good at creating there own world. My most loved are people like Nick Cave, Warren Zevon, Elliot Smith and Elvis Costello ! Oh and any girl band who sings like a Disney soundtrack I love First Aid Kit! In so many words, can you break down the message behind “Buckets of Blood”? I was going through a horrible time and losing lots of friends due to my own behavior as well as trying to claw out of my own addictions and start over, so the song deals with loss and despair but it also has elements of a kind of rejoice I suppose you can hear me trying to build a better life by putting down the bottle in the line “i’d take a broken glass or an empty cup cause one drink to me is never enough”. What were some of the challenges when you were writing "Buckets of Blood"? How did you overcome these challenges to create the best possible result? In terms of coming up with material I have no trouble. Right now I'm a few albums behind because when your on the run and only partying you are lucky if you have the sense to write down lyrics like I did. But challenges for this recording was that it was done in a tiny basement apartment with no light on an ancient Imac that kept shutting down if I had anything over 8 tracks recorded! Also I was coming off medication and that was a nightmare I couldn’t trust my own ears so I kept mixing and mastering like a maniac! I'm sure some people will say it sounds rough but I tried my ass off because I couldn’t afford to do it any other way. And I love that idea that I can keep getting better this record is just the start! What can your fans and our readers hope to get from you musically this year? This year and every year after I'm kicking the door wide open artistically for myself! I'm gonna keep writing and recording from home and really try to up my production value I want to make the best art I can! Also I want to work with anyone who is digging what I'm doing online, to be able to work with musicians from all over is such a beautiful luxury. I'm hoping to put together another band like I had in NYC and give my material a bit of a harder edge and have fun playing shows again. thanks to everyone at BuzzMusic for this interview they have a wonderful team who actually put music before money and that's really rare nowadays xo -Fox Connect with StonedFox on social media: Instagram: www.Instagram.com/stonedfoxsounds Webite www.thestonedfox.com #BuzzMusic
- Artist Of The Day: The Odd Neighbourhood Releases New Single "The Good In The Bad”
The Odd Neighbourhood released their single titled “The Good In The Bad”. An intricate mix of classic jazz and subtle rock. It immediately begins with chord progressions and an appealing melody we can become engrossed by. The dramatic climax between the first verse and the hook was a detailed sensation we can’t help but to love! The amount of soul and groove in “The Good In The Bad” mixed with poetic lyrics can allow us to enjoy the tune while becoming serenaded by the words. I really enjoyed listening to "The Good In The Bad", it mentally opens up a time machine where we can travel back in time. A time when music really made us think and feel, but still being engrossed fully in the song. Where we felt a sense of emotion. Rather it be happiness, melancholy or passion. Instead, it is rare nowadays to find music that can truly impact people. “The Good In The Bad” bridges the gap between connecting with your emotions and being captivated fully by the vocals and music. That’s why I greatly appreciated this song and believe it could be a leading hit single that will carry The Odd Neighbourhood far in their music career. We can't wait to hear what's next! Listen to "The Good In The Bad" here. Hey there, care to introduce yourselves to our readers? Hi! This is Travis Adams AKA: The Odd Neighbourhood, which is a musical project by myself, 19 years of age and located in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. How did "The Odd Neighbourhood" form? The Odd Neighbourhood formed as a band some many years ago (four to be specific) and went through lots of change. Starting with a reappraisal of it’s title and my other band members (Troy Pawloski, Hogan Smith.) decisions to step back from recording and giving all writing, recording, performance and production to myself, to tackle in my home studio. What’s your artist perspective on “The Good In The Bad”? The Good in the Bad is a hilarious song, to me. It’s a fun little jive I wrote and recorded in July, 2017. It just couldn’t get much more slacker. It’s lyrical content is mainly framed around my love for the weekends. Do you have any upcoming tour dates? I’m really excited with the idea of doing a mini tour soon. Hopefully when I release a new song or album! But as for now, the shows will come and go as they please. I’m really trying to focus on recording for a few more months! Uchenna’s voice is the epitome of gospel and soul. She truly embodies that sound that makes her relatable and extremely pleasant to hear! To me, this track is a dedication to her faith. Not only in her views but her music as well. She’s telling a story about how God is everything to her and singing about it shows her faith in herself with her music as well. And the thing about this track is that yes its gospel but you hear so much more than that. You hear her soul! “You Are Everything” is definitely a beautifully composed song that reminds us all we have something to be grateful for. Listen to "You Are Everything" here and be sure to check out our exclusive interview with Uchenna below! Hi! Could you kindly introduce yourself to our readers? I am a singer and songwriter from London, UK and I have been been singing for about 10 years. I have been a part of my church choir since i was about 10 years old and I have been singing in my church since then. I recently became part of the IMPRINT SOUND, which is a gospel collective in the UK. Can you tell us a little about your journey with music? Since singing in my church and many other choirs during my time at university I have learnt so much about music and what it truly means to be an artist. It has also helped me to develop my craft. I have been song writing for a long time but I have never had the chance to put my music out there. I am known as the girl who does 60 secs gospel covers on Instagram. In 2018 i featured on the track 'so sweet, so pure' with imprint sound and have just released my song 'you are everything' FT davereates. Where do you see yourself in your music in the next few years? In the next few years I see myself doing Tours within the UK and working with different artists. I also see myself releasing many singles and music projects that will bless people in many ways and touch different part of their lives. This new single, can you tell us about the true meaning behind it? The single is based on part of my personal story. It speaks about how God is truly everything that I have ever needed even though I have been searching for that thing for a long time. I was searching for something to fill up the void and always looking for it in other people but God is the only person I needed to run to in those times. Since truly finding him I have been so full. It`s like a love letter that someone writes, highlighting the various reasons why they love Him. YOU`RE EVERYTHING is my own personal and intimate way of expressing why I want to follow Him. What can we expect from Uchenna in 2019? 2019 is the year of release. There will be more music projects, more shows and also an EP that coming soon.
