- Alexx Magic Fusion Of Sounds In "The Limbic Limbo" Will Make You Believe In Magic
The former frontman of Soft Candy, Alexx Magic, has struck out on his own to present his first solo project with the release of "The Limbic Limbo." What Alex has brought to the table with this song is something incredibly unique that defies time and genres. I found myself lost in the song's psychedelic effects. In one moment, I was rocking bell bottoms in the ’70s, and in the next, I was sitting at a Jazz bar, nursing an old fashioned as I listened to the pianist. This is the power of a great song; It is the ability to take listeners somewhere else in the subtle and almost unnoticed change of note. The grace of the song makes this fusion even more impressive. The genres of Classic Rock, Jazz, Groove, and Psychedelic are obviously present, but not in the usual way. In fact, the combination is not aggressive at all. The purpose is to create balance and then segregate the song in beautifully gentle ways. Alexx Magic has worn many hats within the music industry, and his experience and training shine through in his solo project. Alexx’s music is also a testament to his journey. Born in New York, and then a long stint in Chicago, the artist is now living in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Here, Alexx is able to embrace his many talents as a classical pianist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, songwriter, and music teacher to further his career and make a living doing what he loves. He pulls inspiration from bands such as Mac Demarco, Elton John, and The Zombies. 2020 will see the release of a lot of new music from this talented artist, and we can’t wait to hear what amazing songs he'll release next. - Interview: Tyler Allred Dives Deep Into "Get Well Soon"
Hey, Tyler Allred! Welcome back! The music world recently saw the release of your track "Get Well Soon". Now looking back to when you first began writing the song, how do you feel this particular release differed from your other work as an artist? It was a completely different writing process than any of my songs in the past. What happened was my publishing company set up a co-write and basically told me, “Hey, we’ve got this great songwriter from London. Meet him at the studio and see what you guys come up with.” So I met with this super talented guy who’s gone by the artist name Jole’. Very quickly, he Began playing that riff and we started trading lines lyrically. Normally I just handle the whole writing process myself but this was cool, I did a little guitar and the vocals and he also engineered and produced the track. "Get Well Soon" had a very amicable presence, which we felt primarily derived from the delicacy of your voice. We've always noticed the lighter tones associated with your vocals, as they're incredibly intrinsic to your sound. Would you say that you've crafted this overall vocal performance with time, or does the airier vocal execution come naturally to you? Well, I’ve never much thought about that actually I think it just kind of has always come out that way. When I was younger, I used to try and hide my raspiness and just kind of yell my songs, but eventually, I just embraced my natural voice. What were you hoping your listeners would truly get out of "Get Well Soon"? Were there any specific connections you wanted to make regarding your listening base, or was there a particular theme you were wanting to get across? Well, when I met up with Jole’ to co-write a song, I had no idea what was going to happen and no motives for what we’d be making. What happened basically is the song kind of reflected what was happening in my life at the time, kind of like “ I adore you but maybe I’m no good for you “ type of thing. That turned out to be false and the relationship is even stronger now. It also touches on personal insecurities and my past with addiction a bit. As an artist whose seen his fair share of personal battles, can you describe how you got to the point where your hardships became your fuel for creating and manifesting the very music you release today? Honestly, the simple answer is I got sober. Before that, it was very hard to see the positive in any of it, and life was pretty hopeless. When I got to California, I was very lucky to meet some people In the music industry I respect that helped get me to a point I could make and release my music. Sobriety helped me to see my biggest struggles in life are my greatest assets in music and everyday life. I’m very lucky to have some great people in my life. Shout out to my Mom, my girlfriend Stephanie, Matt Ward, Vlad, Kris Trindl, Mat Devine, Lawson Higgins, and all my friends and family who’ve helped me along the way. What can we expect to see next from Tyler Allred throughout 2020? More music. Instagram

Drop what you're doing and fall into the daydream that is Tyler Allred's latest single, "Easy," now available on all digital streaming platforms. You've truly left us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with the release of your passionate single, "Easy." What inspired this song's lyricism based on leaving your woes behind and starting anew? You’re far too kind; I feel like a bottle of Sprite or something with all the refreshing vibes. It sort of came together that way but looking back to when it was written in November 2020 I was just coming out of a several-month bout with undiagnosed epilepsy that landed me in the hospital, so I think that’s part of it. Also, I as well as I’m sure many others, have struggled with the “who am I?” crisis a few times in life, and we liked the idea of forgetting all of that stuff. Why did you choose to keep the instrumentals for "Easy" rather minimal and gentle? How does this sonic landscape enhance your tender lyricism? It just felt like the right thing to do with this one. Did you work completely solo when formulating your lyrics and instrumentation for "Easy"? Or did you collaborate with anyone along the way? Easy was Co-written and produced by the amazingly talented Jole’. He’s an incredible songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist. We were introduced to each other by our publishing company back in 2019, where we met and co-wrote “Get Well Soon” together. For this new song, he was in England and I in L.A. So we hopped on a Zoom call, started strumming chords and bouncing ideas off of each other. I love working with Jole’ because the songs just seem to create themselves naturally. Seeing that you've graced our speakers with passionate and heartfelt tunes on various occasions, might we hear an upcoming album or EP from you in the near future? I’ve been secretly messing around with a side project-type thing for a while that may see daylight sometime. My second love is hip hop, unbeknownst to most. So I have a bit of a vault of that built up as well. But as far as another TylerAllred e.p. It’s definitely overdue and in the works. What's next for you? I just woke up, so probably coffee. After that, it’s anybody’s guess. I have a few shows in L.A. in September, so I’m pretty excited about that. Instagram

Feel lifted with help from Tyler Allred's latest stimulating single, "Often," now available to hit repeat all summer long on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Tyler Allred. We can't get enough of the uplifting tone and feel of your latest single, "Often." What inspired you to create this personal and relatable single? Well, thanks! Honestly, this is one of those songs that when I started writing just completed itself very quickly without me having too much of an idea of what it’s about. Once I got to the line, “You’ll count your come-ups, not your losses, hope you’re still having fun,” it started to make sense to me. What sort of instrumental atmosphere did you want to deliver within your latest single, "Often?" Did you have any help when creating the instrumental arrangements? This one started as just a demo of my vocals and acoustic guitar, as most of my songs do. I sent it over to my great friend and collaborator Rain Man, and we proceeded to have an all-night session where we just built the whole song from extremely raw to what you hear now. We basically just kept adding different sounds we thought were fun until we had something we enjoyed listening to. What message did you want to convey to your audience through your lyricism within "Often?" What did you want your audience to take away for themselves? I suppose it’s just kind of a “Hey guys, I know life is weird, and we all have insecurities and doubt, but you’re a being of infinite love and potential, and life can be amazing, so be yourself and try to have a good time with it.” In your own words, you've mentioned that you "write songs and sometimes do other stuff." Could you elaborate on the "other stuff?" What sort of musical endeavors do you typically dive into? Of course, elaborate on the other stuff. I guess what I mean is normal human being activity. Also, it was just the easiest way out for me to not write an actual bio about myself because it feels weird. What's next for you? Oh Yes! The future! What a strange, intangible, arguably strictly imaginative concept! When I daydream, it always seems to point in the direction of more music. If I were a gamblin’ man, I’d place my bets on more songs. - Terms & Condition And Tyler Allred Team Up To Drop “Meltdown”
Jacob, professionally known as Terms & Conditions, is a Los Angeles-based artist that combines his ability to play clarinet and trumpet to create refreshingly contemporary soundscapes with catchy melodic soundscapes. He teams up with Tyler Allred, a singer/songwriter also based in Los Angeles that adds his indie/folk-rock sound to their latest release “Meltdown.” “Meltdown” consists of organic, ambient harmonies and melodies weaved together by a modernistic, electronic attitude that reflects an honest and minimalist sound that is approachable while also keeping integrity and authenticity intact. “Meltdown” begins with ambient, cinematic and multi-layered tones. It leads with a dreamlike delicacy, calming rhythms, and smooth, characterful leading vocals that add a definite touch of recognizability to their work. Lyrically there’s plenty to consider here. The lyrics have a certain profound level of awareness and depth, offering honesty and vulnerability, and this is easy to connect with and feel understood. “Meltdown” holds on to a more melancholic, dreamy vibe. The vocal stands back a little, the instrumental details rain down around you, and lyrical fragments of love and reflection weave in and out of the mix. It’s a fantastic addition to Terms & Conditions and Tyler Allred’s repertoire. Welcome to BuzzMusic! We love your sound. Can you tell us more about how this collaboration came together? My friend and awesome producer Terms & Conditions called me one day saying asking if I was interested; I listened and was. I thought it could be a fun experience stepping out of my usual singer/songwriter acoustic vibe and experiencing writing and singing on this. Your song “Meltdown” is amazing! We love the lyrics and the melody. What inspired this song? For me, lyrically, 90% of it was just the first thing I heard in my head and sang when I heard the music. What are each of your favorite parts to the song, lyrically or sonically? I think I have to agree with Jacob about the opening verse and the hook. I also really like the last hook, where it’s different, and he kind of chops up the lyrics with the beat. Can we expect more collaborations in the future? Always. What are you both working on through the end of 2019? I personally am working on my new e.p. “Higher Level of Care,” and have another single coming soon. I co-wrote with artist Jole recently called “Get Well Soon” I’ve been writing lots of pop stuff on my other projects, but I do have some release plans under “Terms & Conditions,” I have been releasing lots of 100 BPM stuff under this name, and I want to stick with what I’m doing, I have many releases coming out this year with very talented collaborators jumping genres and other cool stuff. I want to make what I enjoy listening to. Instagram
- Feel Calm With Tyler Allred’s Latest Single, “Upside Of Being Down”
Tyler Allred landed in California in 2017 and began his music career from the ground up (literally). Not only did this artist decide to move across the country, but he also did it by overcoming battles most of us can’t fathom having to overcome. You can easily tell that Tyler Allred’s music is based on many of his personal experiences, which introduces that extremely raw aspect to music we don’t get enough of these days. His songs are authentic, to say the least—I became a fan the moment I listened to his music. It’s crazy the kind of music we can find nowadays that we truly never knew we were missing out on until we hear it. In this case for me, I was missing out on Tyler Allred. And his latest single proves why my fellow folk/indie/alternative readers have been missing out too. Tyler really showcases his alternative talent in this track. “Upside of Being Down” immediately begins with Tyler’s calming and rustic voice—this created such a soothing ambience for me, and I fell in love right away. Allred lyricism is inspiring. My favorite lyric being in the chorus “There’ s an upside to being down; you take a rough time and turn it around.” “Upside of Being Down” is the kind of song that makes you feel at peace with yourself and all of your doings. It’s the kind of song that makes you feel like everything will be okay, in this case, approximately for 4 minutes and 12 seconds. What I appreciated the most on the artist's part was the way he perfectly executed the combination of soft and whimsical lyricism with the rustic and reminiscent feeling that can be so difficult to do well, and yet Tyler Allred did incredibly. He truly executed this single with grace and created an experience for the listener. That is exactly what you’re supposed to do as a great artist. It’s obvious by now that I really enjoyed the production and talent of Tyler Allred (already added the single to my playlist), and I highly suggest you check out this blossoming artist in order to enjoy it with me. Tyler! Hello! Introduce yourself to our BuzzMusic readers Hello, I’m Tyler Allred. I’m originally from Battle Creek, Michigan. I live in L.A. now, and my life is pretty much all about music & ice cream. We are complete fans of “Upside of Being Down” and the message behind it. Would you say your past struggles really inspired the curation of this song? As far as the message goes, It really, at the time, was mostly a message to myself. I wrote “Upside of being down” while in and out of some of the absolute hardest years of my life. I think I was trying to tell myself, “Look, things look very dark and hopeless right now, but you can turn this whole thing around.” How do you personally feel when you’re listening to your own song? I personally feel very grateful and reflective when I hear it. Also happy. I remember singing this song strung out and homeless in Michigan, and to hear it now produced the way it is by Kris Trindl, who is amazing, and streaming on Apple & Spotify, I just am pretty floored at how crazy life is. Who has inspired you the most to this day? Musically: Elliott Smith, Conor Oberst, Personally: My mom, my daughter Kamdyn, Matt Crooks R.I.P., and all my dudes at the Stanley House. Are you planning on collaborating with any other artists anytime soon? Always interested in collaborating. Starting recording for a new project almost immediately after my e.p. “Everything Is Fine,” comes out and very well may collab on a few tracks there or otherwise. Instagram
- Tyler Allred Exceeds All Past Expectations With His EP, 'Everything Is Fine'
Tyler Allred is an artist who was originally from Battle Creek, Michigan. He landed in California in 2017 with only his crumbling guitar and a few cigarettes. He overcame his addiction and emerged reborn; with a new lease on life and a clutch of heartbreakingly authentic songs that stop people in their tracks. The opening of this beautifully orchestrated EP that goes by the name of “Everything Is Fine” was the melodic record “Upside of Being Down” and this began with a nicely stringed acoustic guitar that helped curate the indie-alternative vibe of the record. “Upside Of Being Down” has this hazy and atmospheric production that places you in the mood for travelling and new experiences. This was a great initiation to the EP to have you ready to explore the depths of the project and long for what’s next. Well, what’s next is the addicting melody of “What’s the Move.” For me, Tyler’s alluring and captivating voice shines through this record. “What’s the Move” was so organically done it felt almost natural, helping me enjoy the record way more. “What’s the Move” had the most fulfilling energy that radiated through me so well. “Upside of Being Down” was a gorgeous and detailed record we couldn’t help but love. Up next is “Everything Is Fine,” the name of the EP. I went into this track with high expectations as I believed that this would be the highlighting theme of the project! My expectations were more than met; they were exceeded past. While listening to “Everything Is Fine,” I grasped the idea of heartbreak, disappointment, and melancholy being the themes of this album while also promoting a sense of acceptance and relief. It was an interesting concept due to the delivery of the records. Instead of singing in a sad, more depressing manner, Tyler Allred, sings in a passionate demeanour that really articulates the message of the songs. “See You Around” felt as if the journey was ending. It was the “Goodbye, see you another time” farewell record to not only the listener but contextually to the emotions he felt while writing this EP. It was super intriguing while the gloomy atmosphere remained intact. The transporting record takes you through 4 different corners of melancholic emotions. Tyler Allred is more than a singer, but he’s a storyteller as well. “Everything Is Fine” is a record that could skyrocket the career of Tyler into another dimension! A vocally skilled artist with beautiful usage of his pen, Tyler Allred has a bright future ahead of him. Listen to “Everything Is Fine” here. Although he doesn’t need quite an introduction, Welcome Tyler Allred to Buzzmusic! You have a compelling background story and experienced various trials and tribulations that you overcame! What was the biggest lesson you’ve learned from it all so far? And how do you incorporate it into your music? Well, I’ve learned a lot from my experience of life thus far. I think the most noteworthy thing to me is to remember that no matter how bad things get or how bleak the future seems, to never give up on yourself or your dreams. Having just a little bit of hope and not letting go of it really saved my life and got me to where I am now. I think any given person is capable of so much more than they can imagine if they keep going. I’ve never thought much about incorporating these themes into my songs. I suppose it just happens when I’m writing from an honest place. “Everything Is Fine” was absolutely beautiful. What was the major theme behind this project? Well the title track to “Everything Is Fine” is kind of about saying, “I’m fine. Everything is good.” When clearly my world was burning down around me. I wrote that song in a hospital if that helps with a little bit of context. It was also a confession, like, “yeah you caught me. I need help.” As for a theme to the whole e.p. I suppose I’d have to say something along the lines of transformation, Hope, despair, honesty and also just writing songs I want to listen to myself. Half of the e.p. was written like 2014 to 2015 (Everything/Upside) and the other half in 2018 (See you around/What’s the move) after moving to California and changing my life pretty drastically. What emotion did you channel in the most while writing these songs? I’d like to think overall, it was about being honest with myself. Although all 4 tracks were beautifully arranged and performed, which do you personally feel impacts you the most? "Everything Is Fine” and “Upside Of Down” were both written during some of the hardest times of my life, but “Upside of being down” was the song that when I wrote it and when I would sing it, I would literally think about how it’s fine cause one day this will end and I’ll be in L.A. making music somehow. I ended up in Palm Springs, Ca, and by a chance encounter, I met Kris Trindl. I played him “Upside” and that was the song that convinced Kris to produce this e.p. which directly led to everything else that has happened in my music career, including moving to L.A. You seem like you have your artistry down pact! Could we expect an album from you soon? I have actually just (pretty much) completed writing my first full-length; I plan to begin recording it as soon as possible. Instagram
- Tyler Allred Brings Venice Beach Vibes With His New Single, “What’s The Move”
Michigan native Tyler Allred made his way to California in 2017 with a little more than an old, dilapidated guitar and a handful of cigarettes. Overcoming addiction has given him a new lease on life and allowed him to write very emotional songs with heartbreaking themes and poignant relatable lyrics. A perfect showcase of this raw talent and self-awareness is his new single “What’s The Move.” The song starts off with the beat of an acoustic guitar strumming in a folk-style rhythm, and the first lyrics are “Spent all my cash on cigarettes and tattoos, and a bunch of other shit that I can’t use,” immediately introducing you to one of the main themes of the song, bad decisions leading to financial insecurity. This is something so many of us can relate to, especially if you add addiction into the mix. The chorus branches out to a wider crew of instruments that give a full sound while still maintaining the folky charm. Allred then introduces the second theme of the song, a girl he had feelings for. “What’s The Move” is the perfect question for both themes. The music video to accompany the song looks like everybody’s perfect picture of what a day in Venice Beach would look like in the late `80s, perfectly shown through the lens of a Samsung S8 with the VHS filter on. It was important to Allred to shoot in Venice as that’s where he wrote the song in the summer of 2018. The aesthetic of the iconic Venice surroundings shot with a vintage filter match perfectly with the indie/ folk style of the track. This is a winning combo, sure to make your ears and eyes very pleased. Hey Tyler! It's great to chat with you! First off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Well, I’m originally from Battle Creek, Michigan. I’m a Capricorn and a recovering drug addict. I enjoy Kraft Mac & Cheese, Kool-Aid, Marlboros, really bitter coffee, shopping for windbreakers and hanging out writing songs and stuff. What made you want to leave Michigan for a life on the West Coast? I was born in California but moved to Michigan when I was like one year old, so I always sort of planned to come back. It all kind of aligned perfectly because I wanted to come here to pursue music but originally came just to get a fresh start on life and try to recover from some addiction issues. So basically I came to get clean and stayed for music. In the single “What’s The Move,” you tackle two pretty heavy topics, financial insecurity and love. Why did you choose to include both themes in one song? Really it’s just what was going on in my life at that time. Being sober, I had started pretty much primarily spending my money on cigarettes and tattoos, as the song says. I thought of the opening line after having spent my last bit of money on exactly that, and then the line “Whats the move? I want your alchemy. I want your technicolour blues.” Came to mind. The song is basically saying to myself and someone else, “So now what? What’s next?” We love the music video! Can you tell us a bit about the creation process? Well, I came up with the idea for the song in Venice, so I knew I wanted the video to be there. My good friend Ryan Hilary (editor/co-director) of the video and I decided, “Let’s make the best worst music video ever made.” So we just decided to go VHS style, throw a sick windbreaker on me and strap some blades to my feet. Then Ice cream and pizza seemed like a good idea. It was all shot in the course of one day and most of what transpired was completely on impulse. Who are your major influences when writing music? I’ve always been very inspired by Conor Oberst & Elliott Smith. They are two songwriters who really changed my idea on the direction I wanted to take when I was young. Bob Dylan, of course. I’m also really into Margot & the nuclear so and so’s, Pixies, John Lennon, Neil Young, and Cat Stevens, just to name a few. What new projects can we expect from you as the year progresses? Well, I’m going to be releasing another single and video called “Upside of being Down,” followed by the release of my E.P. Everything Is Fine. Very happy to have had the pleasure to work with Kris Trindl on all of these songs; he is an amazing producer. Then after that’s all out, I’m hoping to record and release a few more singles before the year is done. Instagram
