  • We’re “Falling” For Dr Jayy’s New EP

Nigerian independent recording artist, producer, and singer-songwriter Dr Jayy blesses the ears with his third studio project, Falling. Often referred to as the RebelDoctor, Dr Jayy uses music as an education advocacy tool, reaching out to the Nigerian youth and inspiring them to embrace education and a healthy lifestyle. Music aside, Dr Jayy is a trained veterinary doctor and pathologist, currently working on his Ph.D. at the University of Surrey. Now releasing his third studio project, the 6-track EP Falling, all tracks are written and performed by Dr Jayy himself and span a variety of stimulating genres. The new EP opens with the introductory track, "Showers of Blessings," kicking off the project with nothing but good vibes. Dr Jayy uses this song to let the listener kick back, relax, and enjoy the blessings they have. It's a groovy, mellow, and feel-good listening experience that showcases Dr Jayy's harmonious vocal stylings and engaging performance abilities. Landing on track number two and the EP's title track, "Falling," this song was produced by Dr Jayy and Benzy. It opens on a spicy note with exciting Afrobeat production and the smoothest keyboard melodies. Dr Jayy jumps into the song with the utmost passion and devotion, hinting that he's happily "Falling" for this special someone. We love the upbeat and vibrant feel of this track; it's a perfect end-of-summer bop. Reaching the album's third track and halfway point, "Good Feeling," Dr Jayy throws us into this stimulating sonic mix of Afrobeat, r&b, hip-hop, and electronic music. It doesn't take long for Dr Jayy to set the tone with his charming performance stylings and encourage us to move and groove. We give heavy props to producer Kinsu for packing this song with incredibly unique and unconventional production to keep things exciting and authentic. Sweetening up the EP is the fourth track, "Sugarcane," which pumps through our speakers with gripping and buzzy production that travels into Latin territory but with a stellar Afrobeat vibe. Dr Jayy jumps into his native tongue with this track and starts the party with his upbeat performance stylings that fill us with energy and a lust for life. It's quite the dynamic song that brings a whole other sonic layer to the EP. Slowing things down is the EP's fifth track, "Up and Down (feat. Elveektor & Lorenzo Menakaya)," which smoothly opens with warm psychedelic synths and groovy percussion. If you're looking for a good vibe, this song has it all. Elveektor's verse grabs our attention with all the passion we could imagine, which flows into Dr Jayy's equally passionate yet lighthearted verse. Lorenzo Menakaya closes the track with his smooth-sailing verse, ending our favorite song from the EP on a feel-good note. Closing off the EP, we're met with the outro track, "What Do You Want," and a sweet sample of Timbaland and One Republic's "Apologize." This emotional song kicks off with rich and bold piano chords that shift into a synth and drum-heavy instrumental. Dr Jayy's lyrics break down the aftermath of a turbulent relationship, finding out his ex's true colors aren't as vibrant as he'd hoped. It's a good riddance kind of song that lets you bask in the glory of your newfound freedom. There's truly a song for everyone on Dr Jayy's recent 6-track EP, Falling. Whether you're in the mood for a lively party banger or a modern-day ballad, Dr Jayy has something for you. Find Dr Jayy's newest EP, Falling, on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Dr Jayy. We loved every song and vibe you delivered in your recent 6-track EP, Falling. When did you begin creating the project and bringing your ideas to life? How long did it take to create the EP? I started thinking of making 'Falling,' the EP, soon after the release of my debut album, Stethoscopes & Headphones, in August 2020. There were a lot of hiccups on the journey, though. Regardless, I kept releasing singles while working on Falling. I had a mental sketch of what I wanted the project to be. When I felt I had what I wanted, in December 2021, I released the project! Were there any life experiences or moments that inspired you to create the EP, Falling? Definitely! My music resonates with my mood or experience at any moment. Each song has its story - some happy, some not-so-happy. Two songs stand out for me experientially - Showers of Blessings, Falling, and What Do You Want. Showers of Blessings was written at a point of frustration and hopelessness. It was an honest prayer for success and happiness. Falling, the second song on the EP, was written while in a happy, lovestruck state of mind! The last track, What Do You Want, was a heartbreak ode and documents my attempts to move on. Do you have a favorite song from Falling? What song stands out to you the most and why? It's really difficult to pick a favorite cos I put a lot of work into each song! But I'd say I had quite a strong connection to Showers of Blessings, which, surprisingly, was the quickest song to write and produce! What sounds, genres, or artists were you influenced by when creating the production for Falling? I consider myself a musical cross-breed. I listen to a wide range of genres, from RnB to Hip-hop, House, Soul, Jazz, and Afro-pop. My songs are typically a fine blend of two or more genres in one song. I listen to David Guetta, Sia, Bille Ellish, J Cole, Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, and oldies like Joe, Luther Vandross, Amy Winehouse, Lady Antebellum, Bob Marley. What did you want the listener to experience when hearing Falling? What did you want them to feel or think? 'Falling' was written on a rollercoaster of emotions, moods, and styles, so hopefully, listeners can find a song to fit their style or mood at each point. I really want listeners to enjoy good, versatile music! What's next for you? As an independent artist, it's a gradual growth process. I'm currently enrolled in my Ph.D. in the UK, so that would definitely take some more attention. However, music is always gonna be there! Music for me isn't just about fame and fortune but a social and educational advocacy tool to reach out to thousands of young people, especially in my home country, Nigeria, to inspire them to embrace education and a healthy lifestyle through mentorship. Back in Nigeria, I run an educational foundation that focuses on helping secondary school students with their career choices. I firmly believe in the role of a good education in personal and community development. So these will be my focus for the near future. Instagram

  • BIG VENTI Takes Us To 'Party Hills,' In His New Album

Los Angeles' very own hip-hop recording artist, rapper, and songwriter BIG VENTI returns with a hot and heavy 10-track album entitled 'Party Hills.' Whenever you see BIG VENTI featured on a track, you know it's a bop. The rapper has made a name for himself with slick trap rhythms, catchy synth melodies, and unforgettable vocal flair. He never fails to bring the party to life with each of his tunes, and the same can be said about his entire 10-track album, "Party Hills.' Diving into the new project, we're greeted with the introductory track, "FAMOUS NEIGHBOR," which bounces through our speakers with a fiery hip-hop beat alongside BIG VENTI's heated bars. He wastes no time sending listeners into a groove with his rhythmic bars and equally rhythmic sonics that pump up the party. This was a killer way to kick off an album; it sets the lively and energetic tone for the tracks to follow. Leaping into track number two, "IN MY BAG (feat. Drey Skonie)," BIG VENTI slows things down a bit to ramp up the intensity through a mid-tempo and dark hip-hop beat alongside his cool, calm, and collected bars. Featured artist Drey Skonie gives us those ear-pleasing r&b/hip-hop vocal melodies to spice up the sonic foreground while the sonics carry us to the outro with heaps of introspection and passion. Shifting into track number three and the album's title track, "PARTY HILLS (feat. Rawan Chaya)," BIG VENTI switches up the vibe to a more vibrant and light-hearted atmosphere with punchy drums, slick guitar samples, and melodic synths. Rawan Chaya sets the tone with her sweet and savory vocals that pave the way for BIG VENTI's bars to groove through our speakers and start the party. This song is a recipe for a good time, and we can tell that was BIG VENTI's mission with this tune. Jumping into a familiar track we've had the chance to feature before, "SHOWIN' OUT," BIG VENTI throws us into a scorching hot hip-hop atmosphere that leaves our speakers quaking. The bouncy and intense hip-hop beat paired with BIG VENTI's raspy vocals and undeniable power is a match made in heaven. This gripping tune must make its way over to your party playlist; you and the crowd won't be disappointed. Landing on the album's fifth track and halfway point, "GROUPIES (feat. Rickstarrdidit)," this is another track we've had the chance to feature before. It's an easy breezy listening experience that pays homage to the party life and the many groupies taking up space in bed, but hey, no one's complaining about that. The dynamic performance between BIG VENTI and Rickstarrdidit is stimulating, and we must encourage you to experience it for yourself. Reaching the album's second half with the sixth track, "HOLLYWOOD VEGANS (feat. IamF.A.M.E and JOSÉPHINE)," this song dances the line between hip-hop and pop with vibrant electric guitar samples and a playful back and forth between BIG VENTI, IamF.A.M.E, and JOSÉPHINE. IamF.A.M.E's first verse sets the lively tone that leads into JOSÉPHINE and BIG VENTI's playful hook. It's quite the feel-good listening experience that's sure to lift you out of any rut. Bringing back Rickstarrdidit for track number seven, "SHONDA (feat. Rickstarrdidit)," this song brings a modern and easy-listening hip-hop vibe with warm instrumental melodies alongside punchy drum arrangements. BIG VENTI's passionate and loving bars about fighting for someone special are truly refreshing, and Rickstarrdidit's melodic hook emphasizes those passionate sensations tenfold. It's one of those spirited and playful love songs that you won't be able to get enough of. That said, the party doesn't really start until track number eight, "AUTOMATIC," which stomps through our speakers with crisp drums and heavy piano melodies. BIG VENTI has our heads bopping right off the bat, especially as he jumps into his cut-throat bars that deliver heaps of confidence and playful braggadocious energy that's infectious. It's one of those songs you can rely on for a dose of good vibes. Haunting the speakers is track number nine, "VENTI GIRLS (feat. Chaunté Wayans)," opening with bright keyboard melodies and low-groaning bass and drums that seep through our speakers with the utmost power and might. BIG VENTI sets the sultry and steamy scene with his descriptive bars that lead into Chaunté Wayan's heated verse. She effortlessly commands our attention with her confident and attitude-packed bars that contrast BIG VENTI's bars perfectly. Landing on the album's tenth and final track, "STITCHES," this song opens on a more calming and reflective note through chilling synths and piano melodies that transition into the drum-heavy first verse. BIG VENTI wastes no time expressing that his heart is full of stitches, and although he's living life up in Party Hills, that doesn't mean he doesn't feel down and out from time to time. It's an incredibly thoughtful and reflective song that ends the album on a deeply personal note. There's so much to hear in BIG VENTI's new album, 'Party Hills,' and we're sure you won't be disappointed. Find BIG VENTI's new record, 'Party Hills,' on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, BIG VENTI. We're ready to hit the club after hearing your thorough and dynamic 10-track album, Party Hills. What inspired you to create this high-energy, personal, and feel-good project? I’m hyped to hear you want to hit the club after hearing 'PARTY HILLS' because half of the inspiration for this project came from the LA clubs and afterparties in the Hollywood Hills. The other half came from my wanting to fill a void in music. Music is missing a good time. People need to have fun and feel happy when they listen to music, and that’s what this album brings to the industry. When did you start creating ideas for the 'Party Hills' album? How long was the project in the making? I recorded the first track on the album, FAMOUS NEIGHBOR, and felt new energy that I haven’t heard in my music before. I wanted to keep that same energy going, so I challenged myself to record a track a day. I did that for 10 days straight, and that’s how PARTY HILLS was born! Adding the features and engineering took more time. All things considered, the album was finalized in about a year. The finished product sounds so polished. What was it like working with the many featured artists when making 'Party Hills?' What was your collaborative experience like? One of my favorite things about making music is the collaboration process. It allows for endless possibilities on the tracks. Some of the features were recorded with me in-studio, and others were recorded in other cities. I searched carefully to find artists whose sound & style specifically matched each song. Do you have a song you're most proud of from 'Party Hills?' What makes that song stand out to you and why? From “FAMOUS NEIGHBOR” to “HOLLYWOOD VEGANS,” each song tells its own story and stands out in its own way. That’s what makes PARTY HILLS so special; fans have told me it’s “an album full of bangers.” I am particularly proud of "SHONDA" because it’s a studio freestyle that I recorded in only 10 minutes. What did you want listeners to feel and take away from your album, 'Party Hills?' What experience did you want to give them? I want listeners to feel the vibrant vibes of Los Angeles when they hear my album. All of my exciting experiences in LA are channeled through PARTY HILLS. Instagram Facebook

  • Sade Fatima Doesn’t Hold Back In Her Debut Single, “Hate You”

Hailing from New York, r&b/soul recording artist and singer-songwriter Sade Fatima shares a vulnerable side in her sincere debut single, "Hate You." Sade Fatima's sultry mix of r&b and soul is a sonically delicious listening experience. She's passionate about the sound and evolution of r&b and while delivering "music that heals you and makes you feel something," said the New York-based artist. Not to mention her love for poetry, Fatima only recently jumped into her musical craft to share her gifts with the world. Now releasing her anticipated debut single, "Hate You," Sade Fatima delivers a sweet, soulful, and intimate r&b listening experience reminiscent of acts like Summer Walker, Ashanti, and Alicia Keys. It's a vulnerable showcase of emotions where Fatima expresses her past pains in a relationship and the turbulent emotions she's dealing with. Diving deeper into the new single, "Hate You," we're met with smooth r&b keys and a voicemail-esque message from Sade Fatima, opening up about her distaste for someone from the past. As we float into the verse, she blesses us with sweet reverbed vocals and intimate lyrics that are bound to strike a relatable chord in listeners. The production's gentle and delicate nature makes the song all the more emotional, and Sade Fatima's lyrics feel like they were pulled straight from her diary. She has no problem being open with the listener in order to form that deeper connection, and it's quite an impressive feat for an artist's debut single. When you can't shake the lingering emotions from past love, let your heart be heard with Sade Fatima's debut single, "Hate You," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sade Fatima. Congratulations on releasing your intimate debut single, "Hate You." Why did you choose this particular song as your big debut? How does it help listeners get to know you? I chose this song as my big debut because it was actually the first song that I’ve ever felt comfortable sharing. I’ve never shared my art or my feelings that much. It just felt complete and like it was something that I wanted to free myself of. I guess it shows that I’m not afraid to show feelings that are kind of taboo, like hating someone and dealing with pain in a not-so-healthy way. Listeners can always count on me to be vulnerable and express what I’m truly feeling, no matter how crazy I may look. I always knew I wanted to sing just didn’t know where to start. This was me starting. What inspired the deeply emotional and vulnerable lyrical content within your new single, "Hate You?" What moments brought this song to life? The inspiration was actually a bottling of emotions towards a certain someone. I felt lost and taken advantage of. It’s like someone changing on you that you thought would never and just coming to the realization that sometimes ppl change over things that you don’t even find that important. What was your songwriting process like for "Hate You"? What was your experience being so vulnerable and open when making this song? It was suddenly just like everything I write. I just found an instrumental that resonated, and a few minutes later, I was done. It just flowed to me. I’ve been writing poetry for so long, so the poems are there but writing to the music was me trying something new. How do you hope your audience reacts and feels when hearing "Hate You?" What do you want them to take away? I hope that it’s a safe space for them and for me. I hope they can cry, scream, sing.. whatever, just feel it and flow, and also know that they aren’t alone. Art should make you feel things, and that’s all I ever wanna do. Just spark a little healing. What's next for you? What’s next for me is tough. I wanna just to keep pushing my art and get better with my pen game, and hopefully, just get out there more. God willing. I have a few songs I’ve already written that I want to piece together on a very special project and an idea that I have sitting in the vault. Instagram

Welcome to BuzzMusic Sofia Evangelina. We appreciate every second of your new single, "Get Outta My Head." What inspired such a statement record? Thank you for such an eloquent way of appreciating my song. I'm often asked whether the song is inspired by someone special. Not really. It was during the first lockdown when I kept writing and writing, and at some point, I began to imagine what it’d be like to begin to fall unwillingly and uncontrollably in love. I wanted to create a universal tale simple in nature yet that depicted complex feelings relatable to everyone. I drew my inspiration from stories around me, plus added my personality, dreams, and projection. Haha, I managed to manifest the subject of my song into my real life later on, but this is a different story. And a different song. "Get Outta My Head" has a lovely amount of great lyricism and concepts; explain a bit about the songwriting behind it. Musically, it began with this weird, trinket kind of melody that I was playing around with on the piano. I never thought it would be used for a song cause it sounded so primitive to me, but my collaborator composer heard it. He was like, “that’s dope,” and then we added on this ‘James Bond’ kind of vibe and melody for the verses, and the marriage was surprisingly seamless. “Get Outta My Head” was born. Working on this song invited me into an exploration of the realm where the line between dream, reality, memory, and desire is blurred. Explain a bit about your production side of things with "Get Outta My Head?" As I mentioned, this song's conception and execution happened during the time of lockdown. After the melody was created and I wrote my lyrics, we produced the song in Vancouver. Producer Jeff Dawson and I spent lots of time on the arrangement and creating epic vocals. I am very peculiar about my vocals because I like to tell stories with my voice. Then the song traveled to Toronto and was successfully remixed by my Toronto friends and producers duo, brothers Jovan and Ivan Jovanov, who re-mixed and mastered the version you hear today. What's the message you want people to take away from "Get Outta My Head?" Do you know why you can't get someone out of your head? Because they are in your heart! What's next for you? Three more single releases are slated for the upcoming months in 2022. All these songs are from two years ago. Currently, I work on a concept album to be released in 2023. I love collaborations with artists from other countries. We created and produced some out-of-this-world tracks. Instagram Facebook

Experience the palpable energy and groove of Neon Dreams's lively new single and music video for "ITS ALL GOOD," available on all digital streaming platforms and YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Neon Dreams. We're ready to join the party after watching your exciting new music video for "ITS ALL GOOD." What inspired you to create such a positive and feel-good song like this? While I was in South Africa, I discovered many beautiful things about life and overcame a lot of fears. It put me in a sunshine state of mind. I was filled with pure happiness and a new love for life. I wanted to capture how I was feeling so I could share that sunshine with the rest of the world and with anyone that needs that feeling in an audio-wave format, haha. Why did you choose to take the music video for "ITS ALL GOOD" down to South Africa? Why do you think your music has been so popular there? When I first went to South Africa, and I saw the scenery, all I could think was that this place is mothers nature's best work. If she had a museum, this would be the main attraction, the best painting I’ve ever seen and the hidden gems, “the Easter eggs“ the splashes of color are these beautiful old-school diners and old-school mechanic shops all tucked away in small little spots throughout each city in North America. I would have had to travel a great distance to find these things. It made the most sense to try and capture the essence of the song right in Cape Town while we were there because of its beauty matching the song. It’s so unreal to have this incredible fanbase now. Every day I try to analyze what really happened and why South Africa. I’m starting to understand that music is a reflection of us as a collective consciousness. The stories I tell represent the life I lived, and the people listening to them have a similar connection and the group of people that strongly understand my story of who I am so far because we are one and the same, live in South Africa. What was it like shooting the upbeat music video for "ITS ALL GOOD?" Did you have any directors or choreographers on-set to help bring your vision to life? My friend Daniel Cole and I directed this music video, and I hired choreographers Nicola and Muriel to help us execute the dancing. The sets were so fun and colorful that it felt like we were remaking old movies. This idea came to me when I was making the song. I started dancing like a child then instantly, I remembered all the dances my mom used to teach me as a kid… at the time, I remember Greece and other musicals were on TV a lot, and we would mimic their dance moves in front of a big mirror. So I had the idea to take my silly childhood dances and turn them into a musical of a music video. If I had a massive budget, I could have turned that into a movie, haha, but I’m super happy with the results. What was your duo's favorite part about creating the music video for "ITS ALL GOOD?" What did you appreciate most about the experience? I’m thankful for the knowledge I received while making this production. Now, I know how to work with a choreographer and a group of 30 people and how to organize a really fun video. My favorite part of the course was Adrian’s dancing. He’s just a comedian, and I think if he had his own show, it would be like Mr. bean, and I just watch it 24/7. I’m so grateful we got to make so many friends in Cape Town and throughout South Africa and the fact they would even want to help us create, help choreograph, be background extras and tell us about all the spots that no one knows about to film… it means the world to me! I’m so proud of how far we’ve come because we’re an independent band. We directed a video like this ourselves!??? I used to think that I needed a record label to handle everything that wasn’t music, but if you want it enough and have good intentions, you can take a dream and turn it into reality with your bare hands What's next for Neon Dreams? We are continuing to grow our knowledge of life and music, finishing up an album so we can start making another album ha ha ha, then we’re heading to New Zealand for the first time. Locking in dates for our next tour and working on our new merch line. This next leg of our journey It’s going to be one of the greatest stories we’ve ever told and something our fans will be very proud of. Instagram Facebook

  • Not Afraid To Speak Their Mind, Litvar Releases, "No One Tastes Like You"

The town of Willimantic is home to a new rock group that is taking the music industry by storm. Litvar is a group made up of three talented artists who are passionate about their music and the message they are trying to send with it. The group has only been together for a short time, but they have already made a significant impact with their debut album, 'The Greatest Movie of All Time.' Litvar is a band that is not afraid to speak their mind or show their emotions. They are passionate about what they believe in and are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Their music is a reflection of this, as it is full of energy and emotion. They are a band that is not afraid to show their feelings or be vulnerable. The new single, "No One Tastes Like You," is a perfect example of the band's talent for writing catchy yet meaningful songs. The song is about the pain of losing a loved one and realizing that no one can replace them. Litvar is a band that is quickly gaining popularity, and it is easy to see why. They are a group that is full of energy, emotion, and passion. They are a band that is not afraid to speak their mind or show their feelings. If you are looking for a new band to check out, be sure to give Litvar a listen. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Litvar! We love your excited and lively track. It takes us back to young love. What inspired this song? The song ‘No One Tastes Like You' went through a lot of changes before it was finally released this year, but the beginnings actually come from a demo Rex made back when they were in high school. Those early beginnings definitely contributed to the high energy, youthful sound the song ended up with. What was the most rewarding part about creating "No One Tastes Like You"? What did you appreciate most from experience? For the first time ever on a Litvar song, ‘No One Tastes Like You’ was recorded as a one off single, with no regard for fitting in with other tracks on an album or EP. This lets us really push the boundaries of what we would normally do, trying to fit into ‘a sound’, and we came out with a track that really just felt like so much fun. What does “No One Tastes Like You” mean to you? How can listeners understand you and your music better through this song? It’s a really interesting song for us because we go a lot heavier than our instincts have been lately. Especially with our sophomore album, every song is either driven by piano or acoustic guitar, so going into a track with full turned-up electrics meant a lot for us to dive more into that world, even if just for a single. How does “No One Tastes Like You” contrast your previous releases? How does this song stand out in terms of lyricism, sound, and concepts? The most obvious contrast to our previous record is definitely the addition of Violet on vocals. The first album we did entirely as a two-piece, but it’s so exciting now to have Violet’s brain, bass, and voice featured prominently in our music. What's next for you? We’re super excited to get into the release of our next album, ‘Eloquently Aimless’, as we feel like it’s the best music we’ve ever made. Until then, we’re continuing to tour across the U.S., meeting amazing new people every show we play! We’ll be back on the road again in our local East Coast this fall. Instagram

'Love, Outlive Me' is a song born out of that exploration of self, transcending time as I imagine who I think I will be when I'm nearing the end of my life and what values I'll hold true when finishing my final adventure. What was your experience shooting the music video for "Love, Outlive Me?" What was your favorite part? I was lucky to work with a huge team of passionate creators spearheaded by award-winning director/filmmaker Calvin A. Jay, a dear friend, and my sister Kerry's partner. Calvin and Kerry developed the story/visuals for 'Love, Outlive Me' and put together a solid crew who poured countless hours into the development, creation, and final production of the video. All I had to do was fly to Vancouver, eat yummy Krafty, and take a bath in pam. My favorite part, aside from visiting my sister, was the forest shoot. In one scene, I had to sing the words to ‘Love, Outlive Me’ at double the speed so they could get that dramatic slow-mo feel in editing. Anyways, our fog machine broke, so the team improvised, and suddenly there were about 5 people vaping fat hoots while I sang like Alvin and the Chipmunks in these massive Fuji Apple Strawberry Nectarine clouds. I don't know if it was the moment or the headrush, but I don't think I've ever felt more elated. What was your vision for the visuals in the music video for "Love, Outlive Me?" What did you want the viewer to experience? Calvin wanted to keep the visuals up to interpretation so that each person who watched it could satisfy and explore whatever feelings or ideas they got from it. I personally interpret the story as the intense journey of accepting death; reviewing one's life and relationships, facing the fear of the unknown, and ultimately finding peace in the proven truth that love is everlasting and will remain beyond the body. How can listeners get to know you on a more personal level with your lyrics in "Love, Outlive Me?" How does this song represent you? Though not literal, I was experiencing a sort of death when I wrote the song. The death of an identity I was finally ready to leave behind, one where I believed in a God. Since I was a young girl, I questioned the religion I was born into, though I still practiced it diligently for the majority of my life as it was trained into my perception of reality from an early age. The more I learned about myself, the world, history, and science, the more I began to realize that I had outgrown the person I once was and no longer felt I needed to adhere to their beliefs or conditioning. When writing this song, I really wanted to know how my imagination of death would have changed now that I had no after-life to consider. I was picturing myself on a deathbed, holding hands with someone I love who loves me back. I truly felt like my life was flashing through my eyes. I struggled during writing this song with those unanswerable, almost unfathomable questions and pain until I finally found a glimmer of hope that worked for the new me. Love. Love has always been there. Love has remained in my heart for the friends and family I've lost to death. There is proven evidence that love is everlasting where it was deeply shared. So love is what I decided to cling to and build my new belief system around. What can listeners anticipate hearing next from you? My upcoming record 'Both Feet In The World, At Least I Can Stand' released through North Pole Records on October 7, 2022. This somber and experimental record explores my departure from my childhood religion. From struggling with the fear of giving up my security and past identities to finding hope in accepting love to be my personal truth, this record is as honest as my beloved debut album. Still, it sparkles and screams in further intensity due to the growth I’ve had as an artist and person over the years. With songs recorded at the Banff Centre For Arts and Creativity and other various locations around Canada, this record features award-winning musicians, including world-class violinist Dr. Sungah Kim. It is produced by Western Canadian Music Award-Winning musician Taylor Cochrane. I look forward to sharing it with the world and hopefully connecting to other people like me who’ve walked away from a huge part of their past to step into the wild unknown. Instagram Facebook

  • When Times Are Tough, Soul Push Reminds Us To "Keep On"

Soul Push exhibits anthem of the year vibes with a chart-topping record, "Keep On," formulated by two talented artists. They bring us vibes, an explosion of flavors, and lyrics to remember. After writing for years and performing under private names, Canadian-born Andrew Dixon paired up with South African songwriter Conan Jurek. They started releasing music under the now-known name Soul Push, which began in early 2020. Diversity is evident in Soul Push’s vast array of influences and lyrical content we often don't hear. Combining modernism with the romance of their earlier music decades, the duo affirms that there is still an art in storytelling; it's not about finding identity but exploring new ones. "Keep On" gives us a deep motivation as Soul Push flaunts their vocals and combines all the elements for the record to be full sounding. In addition, they give us words of encouragement as they say, "Keep on keeping on." As we line up to listen to "Keep On," Soul Push introduces us to their mind as the drums enter, and we are at the edge of our seats to hear what will come next. Soul Push sends a gush of vocals our way, and immediately we fall in love with the words chosen, instrumental and overall production. The "Keep On" lesson tells us to keep pushing and never give up. Soul Push mentions that if things get tough, there's no other way but to get back up and try again. A life lesson we often hear, but this time in a Soul Push kind of way. Their unique combinations of sounds and melodies allow us to sing along, dance and share good vibes. Dance the night away with Soul Push and their banging new record, "Keep On," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Soul Push. We truly appreciate such a relatable anthem for our times like "Keep On", What inspired you to write about the topic you chose? For this one, we worked with a badass producer down in LA called “RUSL”. It was our first time doing a collaboration, and he presented this idea to us, and we were really game to jump on board with it. I think the lyrics lend themselves to the struggle of life as an artist and how no matter what, you have to “keep on keeping on” and not give up on things you love most in this world, even though they can be soul-sucking sometimes, you have to kick back and get up. Please expand on the songwriting process for "Keep On," Were there any difficult moments faced when this record was written? This is sort of funny is that this was a period in my life where I was living in Downton Vancouver in an apartment on a busy street, and Andrew and I posted up there to record the vocals. It is not a treated space, and there were loads of cars honking outside and noise from pedestrians, so we had to wait for the perfect moment to hit “record”. There are a lot of unusable takes because there are load cars honking in the background or seagulls flying by the window. But we got it done I the end of the day, and Andrew was the one that had to comp the tracks and find the good takes…poor soul. How did you want the production and sonics in "Keep On" to make listeners feel? What was the goal for the song's overall atmosphere? To be honest, RUSL sent us the demo of the track, and the vibe was already there. We didn’t want to change much of it at all. It felt like Tame Impala mixed with Soul Push, and we were very game for that. We added a few percussion bits to it to make it a little more diverse, but RUSL did the heavy lifting on this one. He’s a genius! How can listeners get to know you more personally with "Keep On"? How does this song represent Soul Push? We’ve been a band since 2012, and things haven’t always been easy. It’s really tough in this industry, and it takes a lot to do what we do. We’ve been doing it for about 10 years now, and we’re still at it. We’ve been fortunate to have loads of success but also many bad times and failures, but it’s all part of the process. This song, for us, was an ode to the hard times of being an artist… you just have to Keep On. Instagram Facebook

We admire the refreshing and playful attitude you've brought with your recent single "My Love" what inspired this breezy song and the visuals for the music video? Just talking about a girl that I was missing, and I was trying to rekindle that old flame (laugh). That was the inspiration - I will always have a love for her - that flame will always be there for her - anytime she wants it (laughs again). What was the most rewarding part of creating "My Love," and what did you appreciate most about the experience? The most rewarding part was the fact that the dope song came out of a slightly painful situation. It doesn't matter what I'm talking about, but I was able to create something that's going to be a part of my musical legacy. I appreciate the opportunity to work with Davido and his appreciation of the song as well. Who helped create this starry music video for "My Love," and how long was it in the making? The video was directed by Dammy Twitch - I gave him a general idea, something retro and talking about the past, and he came up with shooting parts in black and white and some in color. We see the woman there - but I'm still alone. He was able to show and project what I wanted the future to appear to be. How did you manage to find all your collaborators for the song and music video? Please elaborate on the experience and how it was working with all of the people you did. Spellz, the producer, was instrumental in getting Davido the record and getting him on the song. He was also instrumental in reaching out to Dammy Twitch as well. What's next for you? I'm putting out my first all-Afro-Beat EP. It's my first body of work since 2015. This project will showcase how passionate I am about bringing together my roots with my present. Great - strong song! Instagram

  • Tony Tyrrell Shines Through With His Musicianship In Latest Single, "Mocking Bird"

Tony Tyrrell's album 'Conviction' is a moving and powerful collection of songs that covers a range of emotions and experiences. The title track is an anthemic pop-rock song that packs a punch, while "Mocking Bird" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that tells the story of betrayal and heartbreak. Tyrrell's years of training as a clarinetist and saxophonist shine through in his musicianship, and his passion for songwriting is evident in the strength of his songcraft. This debut album is a stunning showcase of Tony Tyrrell's talent as a solo artist, and it is clear that he has found his voice with this moving and powerful collection of songs. "Mocking Bird" is a tragic love song told from the perspective of one person who feels betrayed by the other. The enchanting, almost voiceless, emotion-filled vocals reflect the tone of the lyrics and capture the emotion of the situation. This song immediately had me singing along to the melody. Such a beautiful way to reflect on who you were in relation to another person, to process the denial and hurt experienced. Tony Tyrrell's debut album, Conviction, is a beautiful and eclectic mix of 11 songs that span genres from orchestrated pop-rock to smoky slow-burn waltz balladry. His years of training as a classically trained clarinetist and saxophonist shine through in his musicianship, and his passion for songwriting is evident in the strength of his songcraft. The ominously beautiful "Mocking Bird" perfectly reflects the song's narrative of betrayal. Recording Conviction, Tony's most recent album, was obviously a transformative experience for Tony, and it is clear that he has found his voice as a solo artist with this debut album. Welcome to BuzzMusic Tony Tyrrell, and congratulations on your latest release, "Mocking Bird." What advice do you have for people who identify with this song and would like to move forward constructively with their relationship after a similar betrayal? I’m not sure I’m qualified to offer that type of advice to others, but I can tell you about how I saw things. As you observe, the song is deeply personal, and it took a long time for me to work through not only the perceived breaking of trust but also the consequences of my taking action. There were many ripples – for other friends, people we worked with, etc. - as a result of the breaking up of a very close friendship. I think the song conveys that there are no winners in this type of situation and the ‘mocking’ from the sidelines is indicative of knowing that even at the moment of ending the relationship. It’s a cliché, but time helps, although it cannot erase the scars. Being creative also helps to transform painful experiences (as well as a host of other types of experiences) into something new, something different. And that's partly why I love songwriting so much. As an artist, have you found that you are able to express yourself and process emotion through your art? How do you put yourself in a mindset where your emotions flow freely? I don’t buy into the idea of art as therapy as I think that can descend into pretty maudlin fare very quickly. That said, for a song like Mocking Bird to work, emotion has to flow through it. So, for me, it’s about harnessing the emotion and finding a way to represent it rather than simply ‘emoting’. In that respect, I wanted to ensure that Mocking Bird was an intense song that powered along to an inevitable ending. This is reflected in various aspects of the song, including the 'bigness' of the sound, the repetition of the line “no longer a friend of mine” (that was a hard line to commit to paper and song), and the heightened double chorus, all of the time being conscious that I/we are being ‘mocked’ by fate from the side-lines. We are amazed by the pin-perfect emotion conveyed through your vocals. Is this natural because the song comes from the heart, or would you call it more of an empathetic vocal expression? Thanks for the compliment. I think it’s probably a bit of both. On the one hand, the song is deeply personal, but I also believe that any good art has to be empathetic, opening up channels through which the listener/reader/viewer can connect. I hope Mocking Bird offers that scope for broader emotional connection while also remaining very specific and ‘real’ to me. What do you want people to take away from "Mocking Bird?" I’d be reluctant to suggest what people might take from the song. How they hear or read it is up to them and is set against the context of their own lives. I’ve explained above what the song means to me, but I’d be inclined to think that there are different emotional responses possible. That’s up to each individual listener. I’d love to hear what your readers think - it’s always interesting to get feedback and hear how people have interpreted my songs. What's next for you? My album – conviction – launched on August 12th, so I’ll be concentrating on promoting it in any way I can, including live shows, on the radio, and online. I have committed to investing in supporting the album for the next year. Over that time, I will continue to write songs, reworking older songs, and start planning to go back into the studio to record a second album. My live work will be concentrated in Ireland and Europe, to begin with, but hopefully, I will get a chance to tour in America too. Instagram
