  • Barrett Wilson Brings The Passion In, “One More Day”

From New Mexico to Los Angeles, singer-songwriter and musician Barrett Wilson is whimsically wishing for "One More Day" in his sweet-sounding and playful single. Barrett Wilson's music is best described as "Burt Bacharach on Acid," creating a musical cornucopia of fiery and kaleidoscopic tunes. One could call it cowboy jazz, especially with vocal stylings reminiscent of Dwight Yoakam, Jeff Buckley, and maybe even Norah Jones. His unique, gritty, and rhythmic guitar stylings are the cherry on top. In his feel-good single, "One More Day," Barrett Wilson brings all of that and more. He has us floating through the summer breeze, wishing to spend one more day with that person who makes us feel alive. It's an incredibly dynamic single that showcases soft rock, folk, and jazz elements, alongside Barrett Wilson's passionate and uplifting performance. Diving into "One More Day," the tune kicks off with lively soft rock instrumentals with smooth guitars, mid-tempo drums, and Barrett Wilson's tender vocals. Right from the bat, he brings such a playful spirit and attitude that's truly irresistible. He later takes us over to the glimmering hook and shares passionate lyrics of finally finding what he's been looking for. The bright instrumentals continue to expand with added shakers and beautiful background melodies that maintain the song's uplifting atmosphere. There's a chilling, jazzy breakdown on the bridge that amplifies Barrett Wilson's passion and desire for this person who makes his world go round. It's an exhilarating piece that feels like strolling out of a feel-good movie. Prepare yourself for those special moments this summer with help from Barrett Wilson's spirited single, "One More Day," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Barrett Wilson. We admire the passion and optimism you've brought to your single, "One More Day." What inspired this exciting and feel-good tune? Thanks so much. I'm thrilled to be on board! This was a really fun song to write and record. Being that it's kind of a vampy groove, I put a lot of emphasis on it being very rhythmic and energetic. I wanted to keep this one to a few chords and make it, so it takes a second to absorb how the main beat feels. I love beats and rhythms that are complex and infectious. As for making it a feel-good tune, I think I was honestly forcing it to be that way a bit. Kind of like when you are having a tough time, and you force a smile or a laugh to trick your brain into a state of positivity. It works sometimes! After finding the main idea for the melody and groove, the energy of it really became contagious and spurred me to write lyrics that evoked snapshots of unrelated memories from my childhood and a feeling that I've always had about how absurd and strange life is. Also, how blazingly fast childhood goes and wanting to find a way to encapsulate the nostalgia that comes along with remembering all the strange memories one has. What sound and vibe did you want to give the instrumentals in "One More Day"? What genres were you dabbling in? I'm definitely not a pure Country music person, but I've always had an affinity and appreciation for that style, being from New Mexico and knowing a bunch of Farmers. This is for sure not a Country song in the classic sense, but It's probably closer to that world than anything else I've done in the past. Mostly because it has a storytelling/heart on my sleeve kind of flavor. Genre is a very fluid thing for me, so when you listen to the groove, it's more of a Latin / Bo Diddley kind of idea, and then the vocals kind of remind me of the Shin's meets some kind of Disney song. An odd pairing, but that's how it ends up sometimes. Was it easy to lay it all on the line and be so open and passionate during your songwriting process for "One More Day"? I think you kind of have to be that way when writing songs. But the hard part is always staying true to the idea of the song and then staying honest about that idea. For me, it usually takes a lot of patience and passively meditating over the song for quite a while in order to get to the real heart of it. Once I think I have it, I'm usually able to finish it pretty quickly. How does "One More Day" help new listeners get to know you and your sound better? Would you say this song is a solid reflection of the kind of music you create? Well, being that it's my second single as a solo artist, time will tell! But overall, I would say yes. With my music, there will generally be some unexpected and sometimes out-there sounds. I like trying to take conventional ideas and kind of distort them in a way that makes a song exciting. For this one, I wanted to put myself out there, and sort of confess how I see myself and the world. I hope it comes through, but I also hope people can see their own experiences in the song. I tend to think that's more important, and really, I'm quite a simple person when it comes down to it. Not a whole lot of mystery there! What's next for you? I've got another single coming out at the end of this month on the 30th. It's called 'I Don't Belong Here Anymore.' Then the following month, my EP Intermixture will be released. I'm really excited to get this music out and start working on the next thing. Instagram Facebook

  • Pesh Milli Pays Tribute To The Late “V Roy,” In His New Music Video

Brooklyn-based hip-hop recording artist, producer, and rapper Pesh Milli pays tribute to the late great King Von (a.k.a V Roy) with his honest new single and accompanying music video, "V Roy." Pesh Milli is always bringing something fresh to the rap scene. He's no stranger to exploring different sounds like east coast grittiness, west coast cool, dirty south rambunctiousness, and even the catchy hooks of pop-hip-hop. In his latest single, "V Roy," Pesh Milli immortalizes the late gangsta rapper Dayvon Bennett, also known as King Von. To fans in the Windy City, he was V Roy, a trailblazing artist who proved drill music's potential and limitlessness. After suffering a violent death in 2020 at 26 years young, Pesh Milli wanted to keep the artist's name alive through an authentic track that V Roy himself would have adored. Expanding on the song's music video produced by Zipline, the scene opens with Pesh Milli sitting among blue LED lights and reflecting on the tragedies he's seen, heard, and experienced. As he shifts into the legend of V Roy, Pesh Milli wastes no time enlightening us on the cut-throat and menacing experiences King Von has been through. From self-suffering to watching his brothers face the wrath of violence, this true story isn't for the faint of heart. The music video continues to take us through Pesh Milli in the studio, where he's seen opening up about the real, brutal, and rough ways of violence in the streets that, unfortunately, took yet another talent and inspiration away from us. Watch and listen as Pesh Milli grabs your heart with all-too-real bars about violence, struggle, and unfortunate losses with his latest emotional single and gripping music video for "V Roy," now available on YouTube. Find the single on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Pesh Milli. You've truly left your mark on us with your recent emotional single and music video, "V Roy." At what moment after King Von's death did you feel inspired to immortalize him through song? First, thanks for taking the time to interview me. I believe about a year after he passed I was thinking about the influence he had on some of the youth around me, so I thought I should immortalize that moment in a song. The resulting song is about this kid’s obsession with V Roy aka “King Von.” What was it like working alongside Zipline for the "V Roy" music video? What was your experience during this process? Zipline media was cool to work with - shout out to Tommy with Zipline. I never shot on this camera before, so I look forward to people seeing what we pulled off visually! What was the hardest part about creating the song and music video, "V Roy?" Was it challenging to create a track about someone so special that's passed on? It wasn’t hard at all to put together the song because I love playing with different concepts. This was just one of many ideas I’ve come up with. Speaking on the song itself, "V Roy," was there a core message that you wanted listeners to understand and take away? The message I want people to take away from the song is that being in the streets is a harsh reality many people have to deal with nationwide. I want people to know that you are not defined by the bad decisions you make in life. Ultimately, it is what you do to correct those errors that define who you truly are. What's next for you? What’s next? I’m currently working on an EP and mixtape that should be delivered by the end of summer. Also, my next single, “Another One,” is dropping on July 4th simultaneously with a music video. Both the video and the single will be available everywhere. Be on the lookout y’all. I appreciate the love. Instagram TikTok

  • Get In A New Groove With, “Longing for You” By Joshua Stephfon

Joshua Stephfon is an R&B artist originally from Memphis, TN, who has just released a fire new single entitled “Longing For You." Joshua Stephfon grew up as a member of his church choir, and although his focus at the time was to learn how to play the drums, a deep appreciation for music was formed from his experience. He started making music in high school for fun, which turned into a real passion for creativity. Joshua Stephfon has been releasing music since 2017, and “Longing For You” is his latest impassioned release full of sharp vocals and vigorous beats. “Longing For You” has that classic R&B feel to it, the kind of music where you can simply close your eyes and just take in all the sounds. Joshua Stephfon uses groovy background melodies along with a strong-willed beat to keep the song alive, one that will have you swaying along to the rhythm. His smooth, sultry vocals are a clear focal point for the song, Joshua illustrating his ability to mix different tones and styles. The addition of harmonies and layering in the lyrics adds depth to the song for a whole, well-rounded sound. As the title gives a sneak-peek into, Joshua Stephfon uses “Longing For You” to describe yearning for another person and what you crave about them. His passion is embedded in his lyrics and vocal delivery right up until the last note. Joshua Stephfon eases you out of the song with some flowing piano to accompany the rhythm, a revitalizing ending “Longing For You." Make sure to check out “Longing For You” now, available on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Joshua Stephfon, and congratulations on your latest release, "Longing For You." Can you tell us about your songwriting process for this song? Recently I’ve been trying a different style. I usually write, but my engineer had me start just putting a beat on that I like and pretty much let everything just flow out. I’ve gotten so many more songs/references done this way. What are your favorite elements of “Longing For You?" I honestly like the simplicity of it. I feel it’s very relatable and easy to connect to. I’m capable of creating all styles of music in many other genres as well, but this side of me just happens to flow out better. I love connecting to people's emotions. Where I’m from, there’s so much hate and negativity. At this stage in my music, I choose not to focus on that. What made you choose this particular song as a single? I haven’t released in about two years and wasn’t in any rush to push anything out. So many songs don’t make it out of the rough draft stage because of how hard I judge myself. I just happened to like Longing For You enough to let the world hear it. What kind of atmosphere were you looking to create with "Longing For You?" I just wanted everyone to relate and to feel how I portray my love in a song. I wanted them to see my angle and put themselves in my shoes. What were your intentions with the production style? This is a beat I came across online; therefore, I didn’t have too much input on it. All I know is it sounded good, and as soon as I heard it, I knew I had to bless it. How did growing up around music shape the artist you are today? I’m from Memphis. Growing up there was rough, and all we had was music or sports. Just observing my city and seeing how much influence music had over people definitely shaped what kind of artist I am. I know it’s possible if you put the work in. I want to be able to go back to my community and say aye, this is where I came from, and look what I made out of it. Being able to give back and give hope to others is what I want most. What is one lesson you have learned along the way? The biggest lesson for me was to never stop, regardless of what you’re going through. There are going to be so many things that will try to derail you from your goal. I’ve stopped several times, and I feel those times were my biggest downfalls. What's next for you? The world! I feel soon, I’ll be even bigger than what I’m envisioning. As far as the ones that support me, they can expect a lot more releases and visuals. Instagram Facebook

  • Find That Sweet “Release,” With Taumatone’s Newest Single

The energetic, all-encompassing rock group Traumatone has just recently released “Restraint,” a fire track from their new album, 'Hereafter.' From Phoenix, Arizona, Traumatone was founded by the talented Jesse Broniste, a multi-instrumentalist. Traumatone’s music is compelling and strong, exploring complex and hard-hitting topics and bringing a sense of belonging to all who listen. Traumatone’s new track, “Restraint,” starts off fast and forceful, sucking you right in from the very beginning. With dominant, irresistible guitar and dark, powerful vocals, “Restraint” comes on strong, with just the right amount of angst. Immediately, “Restraint” overwhelms you with a prevailing guitar that carries you throughout the whole song. Their classic rock vocals are nostalgic yet refreshing, not overshadowing the instruments that are the integral background for the song. Traumatone’s potent lyrics describe the feeling of a prison, being held back, and the building of a storm. Knowing that holding everything back will lead to a dangerous “Restraint.” The passion is apparent in the vocals, leaving you hanging on to every word. Traumatone sings “Who knows the coming pain if I choose to rid myself of all restraint”, sending chills down the spine of any listener. A slight slow down in the bridge builds incredible tension, which is finally released in one final, assertive chorus, reaffirming Traumatone’s powerful vocals. You won’t be prepared for the end when the last note hits. “Restraint” is a fascinating and exhilarating sneak-peek into Traumatone’s album 'Hereafter.' You’ll want to get lost forever in the superb guitar riffs of “Restraint” by Traumatone, out now. Welcome to BuzzMusic Traumatone, and congratulations on your latest hit, “Restraint.” How did Traumatone come up with the concept of “Restraint?" Lyrically, I needed something to match the aggression and rising tension of the music. It immediately explodes out of the gate and then takes a moment to breathe in the middle, so it needs something to match the flow. I have a tattoo on my shoulder that I always tell people represents restraint. Holding back things like anger, harsh words, negative reactions, and whatever emotions drive people to do and say terrible things. That doesn't mean it's not there or that it's not a struggle. I felt that was a good fit and probably something a lot of people could relate to. But the key to the song is that it is being held back. Which I think makes it stand out from most songs of that nature. How does “Restraint” compare to the other songs on your album Hereafter?' Why did you choose to share “Restraint” as a single? "Restraint" is definitely the hardest-hitting song of the bunch—actually, one of the heaviest and fastest-paced songs in the catalog. After having not released an album or EP of any sort for a number of years, it was important to come back strong. This song is an immediate attention grabber and has gotten a lot of great responses, so it was picked to take the lead. How has Traumatone grown as a group since you first started making music? Well, the biggest recent change is that Traumatone is now a live band rather than just myself making and putting out music! It's been exciting to finally take the music to the stage after so many years and do it with an awesome group of guys! How do you see “Restraint” and the other songs on 'Hereafter' in comparison to your first albums? I'd say the biggest difference with this particular release is that there are personal lyrics. In the past, lyrics always took an approach or maybe a point of view of something someone else was going through, or fictional situations, commentary, or an outward message. This batch of music came together during a tumultuous time, and the lyrics on all but one song wound up being personal. I'm typically a very private person. I don't like giving people a window into my life. But I felt maybe this time around. People might be able to relate more. Touching lives is what it's all about anyway. What are the main inspirations for Traumatone’s music? Are there any artists that you feel heavily influence your style? I have a very eclectic taste in music. I love all kinds. There aren't a lot of bands that the music purposely draws from. But I am very big on heavy, hard-hitting music that is simultaneously very melodic. I could name several bands that do this amazingly. But whenever I'm asked, I tend to compare the Traumatone sound to a mix of Rammstein/Deftones/Korn... I guess? What's next for you? Immediate plans are to get these new songs worked into the live set and take some fresh music out to people. Hoping to have a music video or two done sometime this year. Other than that, just to take it as it comes. Instagram

We are so pleased to have you here with us today! As we listen to "The Water," we find many emotions floating around. What would you say was your creative process when creating this song? Thank you so much for having me! I’d say the process for ‘The Water’ happened quite fast. I wrote the lyric ‘I can feel the water underneath my eyes’ in my notes app while heading home after a shitty day. I kept repeating it in my head, and as soon as I got to my apartment, I wrote the rest of the lyrics– and the melody immediately followed. At about 2 am that night, I recorded a super messy version with just the piano to hear it all back. I knew then that I really needed to make this song, if anything, for myself. I reached out to the amazing producer PRNDL (a.k.a. Adam Rochelle) a few days later. We had some super nice sessions, and the song was brought to life! There was something ritualistic about the whole process, from the first lyric to master. It felt like the mood and vibe of the song were set– and Adam is a huge part of that. "The Water" acts as a type of security blanket for some. What did you want people to take away from the record? Hmm, I’m not sure what I want people to really take away from the record. I think I was going for more of a feeling/ moment– like you're taking a quick swim in the sound (pun intended). I want people to listen to the mood of the song and hopefully have that become a feeling they want to revisit. That's at least how I feel when I listen to music. I go back to it because of the way it makes me feel, even if it's just for a few minutes. How does this record compare to any other record you've made, and how was the journey getting to this point in your career? This record, to me, is starting a new chapter. There was a whole new wave of writing that came after making this, and I just hope to sit in it and develop from it. Also, working with Adam Rochelle was super inspiring and just so much fun. No ideas (production-wise) were off the table, and I think that energy translated into my vocals and writing as well. The journey has been weird. I think it is for any artist who also works a full-time job to be able to create music. It feels a little like you’re leading two different lives (both of which are great!). But releasing this song helped me get back in touch with the music-oriented side of myself and how good it feels to communicate this way. Is there any crucial advice you wish you'd known at the start of your career that we can share with your fans and rising artists? I’m not sure I’m in any place to be offering advice (lol), but I think something I’m still learning and practicing is how to be my own fan first. It’s very hard but feels necessary. Besides making the actual music, you have to work on loving who you are when you’re creating. I think supporting yourself first only benefits the music. I’m not 100% there yet, but it’s something I’m trying to work on. What can we anticipate hearing next from you? More music, for sure. I’ll be releasing some more singles in the near future, and I’m super excited to share them. Stay tuned. Instagram Facebook

Dinzy wears her heart on her sleeve, and her sleeve is on fire. She's an electrifying act with a unique approach to songwriting and raw vocals that will most definitely stand the test of time. Feast your eyes and ears on the dizzying world of Dinzy's new music video for her emotional single, "I Wish," now available on YouTube. Find the single on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Dinzy. We adore the gripping emotion and passion you brought to your new single and music video, "I Wish." What inspired this deeply personal and honest piece? Thank you! The ending of any relationship is tough. What is even more tragic is the ending of a relationship when you’re both still in love. Sometimes the right choice is not the easy choice, especially involving addiction. This song was a heartbreaking love note that couldn’t actually be delivered, maybe until now. Why did you decide to go for this psychedelic and spacey vibe for the "I Wish" music video? What's the significance of this celestial and cosmic approach? I didn’t so much decide on the spacey vibe of the song as it just naturally became that as the guitar plays in its trancing and delayed beautiful echo in the intro and verses. This other worldly warm chord progression immediately transported me into space from the very first time I strummed each chord in succession. In relation to the celestial and cosmic theme, I was feeling more alone than I ever had been, disconnected from the world in its entirety. I was on top of the world for a second. And then suddenly, I was floating hopelessly out of control through what felt like an empty void that never ended, lost in space. Who helped create the starry music video for "I Wish?" How long was the music video in the making? I always had the idea of using stars, space, and vivid colors for the video. Anana Kaye of Duendevison Productions designed the video clips and transitions based on what she felt from the song, and I think she nailed it. The video was actually a really quick process as we were both on the same page as usual. What was the most rewarding part about creating such a cathartic and emotional song as "I Wish?" What did you take away from that process? The most rewarding thing was being able to actually put my heartache into words after being emotionally and creatively stunted for so long and also being able to finally finish the song that has been frustratingly in the works for over ten years. I had only been waiting for the lyrics. I had only been waiting for this experience. An experience that may have been life-saving. I’ve taken away that life does get better no matter how dark it seems, you will smile again, and it is truly better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. And I’d do it all again if I could, and I promise to remember the good. What's next for you? I am currently finishing recording and writing my second album, due later this year. Instagram Facebook

Available now on all streaming platforms, don’t miss Bella Rosa’s fiery new song “Hate That I Love U." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Bella Rosa, and thanks for sharing “Hate That I Love U” with us! What was the recording and production process like for this track? What made you want to release “Hate That I Love U” as a single? "Hate that I love u" was a very cool process as I got to write it with four incredible artists. We sat in a studio all day and finished the song. I finally heard the demo and brought it back home to my team and said, “we have to release this. It’s too good not to release it.” they agreed and also thought that the song could be an absolute banger/anthem for heartbreak! Around the time I wrote hate that I love u, I met Adrian X and became close with him. He began to mentor me, and when "Hate that I love u" was finally ready to be released, I showed the song to him first, and then we talked about possibly recording an acoustic version. I asked Adrian because I knew he would create something new and different to give the song a new perspective. How did you know you wanted a featured guitarist on “Hate That I Love U,” and why was Adrian X the right choice for you? When I was about 11 to 12, I wanted to be the next big pop star. I started writing my songs, but I always felt like I was writing "in the lines." I never felt like I was free to write everything I wanted to in this genre, only a small selection of topics. I then went through the phase we all go through. The hard rock phase. I loved it while it lasted, but I still wanted something different. I grew out of that phase, and I felt at one point that I was pushing myself to be something I wasn't anymore. Finally, around the age of 14, maybe 15, I found Billie Eilish. She inspired me so much because her music wasn't only one genre. It was a mix of whatever she wanted it to be. So after a long search, I found my happy place in alternative music! You mentioned you have been interested in music from an extremely young age. How have your sound and musical inspirations shifted over the years? Do you see yourself trying out even more styles of music? I’m an alternative artist, and I know I will stay that way. I have the freedom to release all kinds of music without being labeled as one specific genre. Music breaks the rules, and alternative breaks them even more. What sorts of challenges do you come across as a young singer-songwriter? As a young artist, most of the time, I don't get taken as seriously because of my age…. Now when they hear my songs, see my music videos, and live shows, it's a different story. I get seen as a little kid, and then people see I have potential. I work with the most incredible team that always delivers the best quality. Quality is very important to me as I want to give my fans the best I can give them. So that is really the hardest thing for me, but once I break that barrier, people have really supported me because they see I have great music and the package to be an international star. What's next for you? I will continue to release this year. There are a lot of really cool new things coming that I'm very excited about. What I can say is I will be ending the year with a BANG!! Since 2016, Pierre has focused on exploring and creating his own sonic world under Juracán. He's incorporating a more confident and lavish approach to music creation that appeals to any audience. Listeners can experience this lush and meaningful sound in his latest single, "My Mind." The new single gently opens with a somber acoustic guitar that floats into the lush first verse alongside soft percussion and Juracán's chilling vocals. Juracán mentioned that the initial guitar melody he wrote was more dreadful than his emotional lyrical content. After meeting up with producer Eric Leavell, the two managed to put a brighter, more positive spin on the instrumentals. Now, this soothing anthem for overcoming life's trials and tribulations feels less like a song of defeat and more like a song of optimism and perseverance. This dynamic song offers an undeniably wholesome feel, and Juracán's lyrics are not only relatable, but they help us realize that living in life's dark moments "is just a phase." When you're looking for something to help get you past life's toughest moments, look to Juracán's new expressive and relatable single, "My Mind," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Juracán. You've truly moved us with the release of your emotional yet uplifting new single, "My Mind." What moments inspired you to write such a personal and vulnerable song? I'm glad the song has moved you all! My Mind started from constant moments of rumination. More specifically, night and moments alone were thoughts that were just racing. Sometimes the emotions tied to the thoughts felt unmanageable, and it was all so overwhelming. The first lines came as a realization that later fueled the need for space: "My mind is my worst enemy. It keeps playing games with me." It seemed like those moments were endless, and I felt quite stuck. The song served me as a personal anthem for a little bit. I relied on my tools to get through these moments and moved on to other songs and projects. The guitar that accompanied the song was dreadful - it matched that energy I mentioned initially in this response, and I didn't want a song like that. So, I decided to let the song sit until I was in a different place myself so that I could write from that place and add to the story. The first thing that came about was a more funky, upbeat guitar, and from there, getting Eric involved was how we created different "worlds" within the song. What was it like working with producer Eric Leavell for "My Mind?" How did he help give the song more of a positive and encouraging feel? I love Eric. He's family. We have a duo producer project called Caribe Norwé, so we've worked together now on about eight songs. Something worth mentioning is that Eric recorded my sludge band (Flood Peak). That's how I met him. I liked how open, organized, and communicative he was in the studio. Eric helped me narrow down 66 demos into a 20-song album called Jarineo, which I released in 2020. He has also helped me produce "You Said, Lecciones" and "Dame Todo," the two most recent singles I've released. I am extremely grateful to him, his brain, his involvement, energy, and time. We shifted the song's emotional content by employing the coping mechanisms we use ourselves. Both Eric and I enjoy time in silence, journaling, meditation, exercise, and more techniques that directly or indirectly create distance from the thought or emotion that is taking away our peace. From that concept, part 2 for My Mind seemed obvious: "I know that this time, I'm taking space from my mind." From a personal standpoint, I can see things differently when they're written in a journal. When my pain is in a song, it doesn't feel mine anymore. When the pain is written on paper, it slowly stops belonging to me and instead becomes part of the journal, and, therefore, a part of my past. The last section of My Mind involves a key change, sparse instrumentation, and a more intimate vocal performance with a lyrical hopeful approach. It is the last step of a turbulent phase. A moment where remembered that we've been through similar situations which often, in hindsight, seem small and that because of these repeated events (highs and lows), we should give ourselves credit and be hopeful that we will get through it, that within us are all the tools we need to become unstuck - to stop the negative feedback loop that holds us down physically and emotionally. What was the most challenging part about creating the personal single, "My Mind"? Did you face any emotional or physical obstacles during this process? As mentioned previously, the main challenge was that the instrumentation felt way too dark and depressing, just like the first couple of lines. I wasn't stressed about it though. I had other things to work on and understand from previous experiences that forcing songs or anything isn't the approach I wanted to take, so I just let the song sit there. Both in my mind (haha) and in Google Drive. I'd revisit it from time to time with a fresh mind (away from the moments that inspired it) and try things out during my play or practice time for guitar, singing, or writing. One day, it just clicked. Songwriting usually works like that. Something feels right, and you follow through. It was really fun to get Eric's voice on this song, which is something new and was super exciting at the moment. I think our voices complement each other really well. Should we expect to hear "My Mind" on your upcoming 4-track EP? What will that project be about? No. My Mind is its own thing. The EP that is coming out is about romance. It has four songs that are very close to my heart, and they're all demos at the moment. I've known exactly what I want to do with them for months at this point, and I can't wait to hear what my friends and family will add to it in the studio. I'm so excited to get in the studio to work on this next week! What's next for you? Writing more songs by myself and with Eric for Caribe Norwé, producing my next EP, playing shows for two of my friend's projects (where I'm in charge of congas, synths, and backup harmonies) - The Moon Caravan and Caicedo, and enjoying time with friends this summer. Lastly, I'm hopeful about returning to play a musical role in musical theater. I have some audition submissions I'm waiting to hear about, but I'm not worried about them at this point. We love your single "Can Not Lie." What inspired this song? Thank you so much! This song is one that I had the most fun writing because it’s so blatantly authentic to me. I’m a Caribbean woman from the uptown of the Bronx, where you find all the lit parties. Every time a dancehall song comes on, it's every gyal to a man and every man to a gyal. And that’s the vibe I wanted. It also has a pop feel to it, and I’m a big fan of pop music. So “Can Not Lie” gives my supporters a glimpse into who I am and what I love. What's the message you want people to take away from "Can Not Lie?" These lyrics can be interpreted in different ways. While writing this song, at first, I had a concrete story, but others heard a completely different one. So I don’t want to push my own message onto people. Everyone’s gonna have their own experience. I just want them to have fun and dance their ass off to this. If you could do a collaboration with any artist, who would it be? Why? I don’t think there’s anyone I wouldn’t collaborate with. I’m open. I love so many different types of artists that focus on different genres. Being versatile when it comes to my music is important to me, so collaborating with an artist that would allow me to create something completely different and out of the box with them would be an insane experience. But who wouldn’t want to collab with Beyonce? That’s self-explanatory. Have you faced any challenges as a young artist in today's world? How have you overcome them? For sure. In today’s world, you cannot be shy as a young artist. It makes it harder to be heard when everyone’s attention spans are so short, including mine. Im still trying to come out of my shell and show the world who I am. It doesn’t mean I’m not confident, though. I have so much pride in my music and everything I’ve accomplished. But I’m still trying to get comfortable with sharing my personality. Honestly, my supporters deserve it. A lot of them have been riding with me since day one. I gotta give ‘em more of me. I owe it to them! I’ve started to overcome it by just reminding myself that there are people out there who are gonna relate to me and love me for who I am. That’s what matters. What's next for you? I’m finally gonna start performing again! It’s been a while but it’s literally the main reason why I fell in love with music in the first place. It’s going to be more music, more performances, and just seeing more of me in general. Stay tuned. Instagram
