  • Introducing Billy, an Exciting, New and Upcoming Talent on the Rise From Brandon, Mississippi

Welcome to BuzzMusic Billy! Can you tell us what helped you cater to your southern twang and energy in your music? I used certain situations I was going through at that time and reflected the pain it caused, into my music. I’d say I rap like the rappers I listen too. being from the south, I have a country type accent I guess. In what ways do you combine the influences from the Chicago drill scene with your southern roots? I mixed my own personal style with that culture because of its influence on me. for example.. a melodic type sound because of Sosa and with energy, almost mad like young pappy.. them and LA was literally all I was listing too. Of course, imma sound like em’. We loved your single “2”. We noticed a change in the arrangement that added an exciting element to the song. Can you describe the transitions in this song and how you were able to execute it smoothly? “2” was the first song I made. We spent a long time learning the program. I was tryna sound right and Austin was playing with the mixing and mastering stuff. With no help. That’s just how it came out. Austin and I made ”2” in my garage like a year ago. What was the main message behind the creative metaphors in “2”? How would you describe your songwriting approach? I don’t really have a message but I could say Instagram is why I made it initially. I would see people wearing fake diamonds already acting as they made it. I don’t like fake personas. The whole time that’s not what they do so I'm with them. I really had no approach. Aside from trying to keep everything balanced, I just wanted it to sound smooth and to make sense. I didn’t expect too much considering it was my first song. What’s the impact you hope to leave on hip-hop? How do you manage to differentiate yourself from other artists in a competitive industry? I hope real people enjoy my music, that’s all. We gotta wait to see where I’m at in a few years but imma keep working though. I do what sounds good to me. That’s all I can do. What can we expect to see next from you Billy? Next for me. I’ll be featured on Sauce Walka’s Mixtape: “Who Got Next” on Datpiff and Spinrilla. I also have a Mixtape coming out soon called “Billy Ain’t For Nun” Hosted By Dj Shon. That’ll be my debut tape but it’s a lot more music on the way. Listen to Billy here. instagram.com/bandmanbandit #Buzzmusic

  • STARLIGHT MIKKA is Shining With Her Latest Dark Pop Single “I Could Live”

Brazilian indie dark pop artist STARLIGHT MIKKA is lighting up the stage with her latest single “I Could Live”. Formally known as Mikka Verneuax, STARLIGHT MIKKA is currently based out of the US, and began her music career playing bass and singing with punk bands in Brazil at the mere age of 13. It wasn’t until 2015 where she picked up her passion for music again by singing with indie artists in Northern CA and truly establishing her passion for performing. Not to mention being a true activist in the LGBTQ community, STARLIGHT MIKKA is a radiant inspiration to those around her through her music, stage presence, and authenticity. “I Could Live” features STARLIGHT MIKKA’s ethereal singing abilities and gripping flow. The track begins with haunting echoey background vocals, leading to STARLIGHT MIKKA’s straight forward, no-nonsense lyrics. As the anticipated beat dropped, she began rapping and clearly showed a sense of diversity within her sound. While the sharp electric guitars began piercing through the track, STARLIGHT MIKKA perfectly created an intense, sensual, and expressive song by saving up her day-to-day emotions and releasing it through her relatable angsty music. Even incorporating deep cello strings and electric guitar slides, “I Could Live” features incredible empowerment and vivid imagery. • I Am Cam Will Brings Genre Fusion In New Song “The Call”

Emerging from Columbus, Montana is a dynamic artist, I Am Cam Will. He has been creating his own style of hip-hop music for 15 years but has recently been trying to transition into more of a soul/R&B fusion category. “The Call”, off his latest project 'Sorry Eye Past Out', exhibits his newfound talents in his exploration of new music genres. “The Call” looks back into a tough, personal love story from his past, but reflects new musical ideas from I Am Cam Will. Compared to other songs in hip-hop, “The Call” has all the right components to let it stand out from its competition. The first thing that makes this song individualistic is the guitars. In “The Call”, the guitars sound like they could be in an 80s R&B ballad, but he samples them in a way where they fit his style completely. It is a nice change from the typical synthesizer sound we normally get in hip-hop. Additionally, I Am Cam Will starts “The Call” with glossy vocals instead of rapping. This suits the ambiance of this song perfectly. However, the best part of “The Call” is how it is skillfully structured. The song begins with its normal guitar then ambiance, then in the middle it goes in reverse, and in the end, he is rapping. This isn’t because he is trying to be versatile, it goes with the story in his lyrics. If you listen carefully, you can find the message behind the song within the structure, which I think is genius. I Am Cam Will brought a lot of artistic and musical talent with his new song “The Call”. Listen to “The Call” here. instagram.com/iamcamwill twitter.com/iamcamwill #BuzzMusic

  • Harry Baker Serves Jazz, R&B, Groove and Soul in His New Single "Half-Shot"

Smooth like silk is how to best describe "Half-Shot" by Harry Baker. Combining soulful vocals, with Jazz improvisations and R&B stylings, this London based artist has created something truly wonderful. The song begins with a vocal note, slowly rising in pitch and building toward the first chorus, which starts the song. You are struck by the smooth timbre of Harry’s voice and if the song didn’t have it before, it now claims all of your attention. When the chorus ends, the first verse begins. He questions whether he is too late to approach this woman, with the stunning eyes but his question remains unanswered as the chorus rolls around. The melodious beat of the bass lead chorus is sure to put you in a groove and make you want to move. Then, suddenly where you’d expect a second verse, there’s a reprise instead. Harry’s vocals are surrounded by a trombone on every fourth beat, emphasizing the meaning of his words. You are drawn out of this refrain by the holding of note like a beautiful breath of fresh air. Harry begins to sing words of self-reflection and we are escorted into verse 2. Now, the song has built up momentum and the swing of jazz emboldens the beat. With piano, guitar and trombone improvisations. The vibe is high and the smooth vocals are emphasized. As the song draws to a close with an incredible trombone solo and chorus repetition you are filled with awe at what Harry has achieved. After years of playing in other bands, like Old Swing and Flood For The Famine, it’s clear to see that Harry has mastered his sound. With his first and second album released, Harry now teases at the release of his third album, with his newest single ‘Half-Shot’. No doubt, this new project will be great. Stream "Half-Shot" here. Hey Harry, welcome to Buzz Music and thank you for being here! "Half-Shot" was like me morning coffee- everything I needed. The placement of instruments throughout the track is perfect. What was the process of producing this record? Hey! Thanks for having me, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my new music, and thanks for the kind words. "Half-Shot" subtlety touches on patience, manners, and being the right amount of forwarding or confident. The song is designed to keep you engaged and waiting, like ordering at a bar. You’re committed and waiting for something that will come, but sooner if you’re respectful. This is a metaphor for most things we desire in life, if you’re patient and treat people respectfully, you usually end up more fulfilled are presented with better options. I’m glad you commented on the instrumentation, I can brag about my pal who provided some of the sexiest trombone playings I’ve ever heard. Joel Knee and I have been working together for years on various things, and after writing the main hook on bass and guitar, the last remaining ingredient was that Knee stank. I actually wasn’t present for the recording of his parts, but I can imagine he took a couple of listens, and just did his thing. I’m super stoked with the flavor these parts gave to the overall sound of the song. In parts with more “out there” harmony (coming out of the first “where don’t you put me where you found me”) the way in which he outlined the chords and his approach was just something the track really needed. There are many layers to this tune, but one thing I like to think of is the change of feel, from swing to straight towards the end of the track. I like to think this portrays how fast things can change when we make decisions in altered states, or when full self-control is nothing but a long lost pal, waving at us in the distance. You’ve spent quite some time involved in other bands. What have you learned from being involved in these projects? I started performing in bands around the age of 11-12, formed my own project when I was around 13 as a guitarist, then fully took control at 14 when I started singing. So I guess playing with other musicians has always been something that’s felt organic and pure. I believe being a musician is about 40% is a solid player, the other 60% is an amalgamation of persona, reliability, attitude, and versatility. Without tooting my own horn, I feel the things I’ve learned over the last 11 years has contributed to me being a generally good candidate for bands and running my own one. These projects have helped me grow as a musician and expand my experience in the music business. Over the years to help fund my music, I’ve played in Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Blues and even Indie bands, and if there’s anything I’ve learned from my experience in these groups, is keep your word, be honest, have fun and remember why you’re there. You combine guitar infused tones into your music a lot, and in "Half-Shot" we can hear the beautiful jazz guitar improvisations you sprinkle throughout the song. What has your process of mastering the guitar been like? Wow, the master is a strong word! I’d say I was far from this or being where I want to be with guitar,  but I’d like to say the last 11 years has got me off to a good start! I like to think the guitar as something I communicate through, and I feel a lot of the time I can say more with my playing than with my words. I’ve taken inspiration from a vast amount of things, legends like Jeff Beck, some of the early MJ and D’angelo stuff, Prince of course. Things that aren’t even directly linked to music or guitar playing; like dreams, nature or even other people’s personalities often inspire me… Any outcome of something we have entire creative cover is so unique to the vessel. Why not show it? The feelings expressed in the new album are quite extravagant, so the guitar work may follow a similar pattern. You combine the genres of Jazz, Soul, R&B, and Groove so effortlessly in "Half-Shot". This level of artistry takes time to master. When were you first introduced to these genres? I think most musicians will agree that phases are paramount of importance if you want to progress. I’ve had many! Though I grew up in a non-musical family, almost every genre resonated with my parents, so I was aware of Johnny Cash, Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Springsteen, The Carpenters, etc from as early as 8. Apparently I used to sob to Elvis’ “Love Me Tender” as a child whenever it came on…sometimes it still happens! The early 70s and 80s rock and blues music was what inspired me to start playing I and strived to play a lot of that stuff upon receiving my first guitar (AC/DC, Guns n Roses, Van Halen) Over time as I was learning these classic riffs, and learning all of these - what soon became - gimmicky guitar solos, my guitar teacher at the time (Howard Johnstone) began showing me the really good stuff. I was exposed to John Mayer’s trio material, which blew my 13-year-old brain, and in the process was turned onto D'Angelo, R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, and Jazz. I began to really dig this “groove” thing and the “feel” kinda attitude. Since then my taste has branched off into many different areas, but R&B, Jazz, Soul, and Blues will always remain a part of what I create too. Thank you for talking with us Harry, what can we expect to hear next from you? Thanks a tonne for listening to Half-Shot, hearing some of my stories, having me for an interview and thanks for your words. After Half-Shots out, there will be one more single, Eagles. I’m double excited for this single, as I’ll be having a very special music video coming with it, more to come on that. I’ve also just got back from a trip to Holland, demoing my new songs and playing a Sofar Sounds show, which was a mighty experience. You can expect a live video from that, and of course, you can expect the release of my new album, Everything Is Temporary in June. Peace! instagram.com/harrybakeruk facebook.com/HarryBakerUK #BuzzMusic

  • Toronto’s B1GJuice is Going International With His Hit “CHAPTER5.Joy”

Toronto born artist B1GJuice has made quite the impact with his hit “CHAPTER5.Joy” off his latest EP 'Searching.Zip'. Growing up loving sports and music, he built up his passion for certain genres like Disco, Rock, Soul, Rap, and let the music push him to play football to his best ability. After receiving an athletic scholarship to Furman University in his sophomore Year, B1GJuice was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy of the Left Ventricle, which unfortunately put an end to his football career. This is where he found his passion for music and began feeling more hopeful than ever. He’s grown into a father, a developed artist, and a creative director, all while channeling his life events through creative outlets. If you defined “chill” it would be B1GJuice’s flow on “CHAPTER5.Joy”. With innovative lyrics and bars, clever references to his hometown basketball team, “CHAPTER5.Joy” brings lo-fi vibes with clear and ominous vocals. It’s evident that he works extremely hard on perfecting his rhymes and coming through with a personal message that gets across and genuinely resonates with the listener. Incredibly mellow synths and keys perfectly back up his meaningful flow throughout the entire track. With clear pronunciation overtop intricate and captivating production, B1GJuice has definitely taken his music to another level. Stream B1GJuice’s full EP 'Searching.Zip' here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, B1GJuice! We’re totally captivated by your rhymes and the ability to rap on a beat. Which artists or groups do you think helped shape your sound? Growing up my pops played a lot of rap in the house; Biggie, Dre, Snoop, etc so the old school sound kind of stuck with me; I still listen to the “old school” greats today for inspiration. I grew up in an area where mainstream music was really popular, but I and my friends used to listen to a ton of southern rappers in the early 2000s before they become popular. Artists such as UGL, Gucci Mane, Three 6 Mafia, 8Ball & MJG, and etc. When I was 17 I moved to Atlanta for a year as well so that definitely also played a part in shaping my sound. “CHAPTER5.Joy” delivers an incredibly genuine message, could you share with us what inspired the track? Progression. I remember writing the verses before the hook and asking myself the same question. It wasn’t until both of the verses were finished that the story came to me; a story about searching for your purpose and the growth that comes with the journey. Your detail and sense of imagery are amazing, what helps you write to your best ability? I have a vision once I hear the beat. Whether it be an entire story, a situation, or experience; some sort of imagery floats around my head before I begin writing. Once I start writing I pull the details from the vision to help the audience/listener see the same thing I do. A majority of my songs come from a place of personal experience, so going back to that reference point and pulling out specifics is easy. Your music is definitely something we’d want to catch live, any plans for upcoming shows? Yes, I love performing. It reminds me of playing football and brings that passion back to me. I do not currently have anything confirmed, but working on a couple of headline shows for this summer. Definitely stay posted. What can fans expect next from you? More music. Last year I put out a couple of singles and not many videos; partly because I was ashamed and afraid of the reaction. This year we move with no fear. instagram.com/b1gjuice #BuzzMusic

  • Scott Rocco Has Finally Released His Heartfelt Single “Fight for You”, and We’re in Love

Award-winning indie rock singer/songwriter Scott Rocco has released his latest soulful and empowering “Fight For You”. Performing since he was a teenager in Westchester, NY, Scott Rocco was influenced by icons like; The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, and other artists’s/groups on the rock and roll spectrum. New York is highly anticipating the release of his debut album “IGNITED”, set for fall of 2020. Scott has overcome a great deal of adversity and noted that “Fight For You” is his most personal work yet. With incredible optimism and an inspiring message, Scott Rocco has perfected lyrical storytelling in all it’s forms. An inspiring heartfelt song, “Fight For You” provides clear harmonious vocals and a variety of guitars backing up the emotion of the song. The song includes a wide variety of dips and turns, changing up the instrumentation and vocal delivery. Scott Rocco undoubtedly presents skilled vocal techniques and a thoughtful approach to songwriting, as he delivers passion and soul with each lyric, while the guitars, keyboards, or drums perfectly support Scott’s artistic formulation. There isn’t a dull moment with “Fight For You”, like the intro, verse, chorus, and bridge all offer an intriguing aspect to the song and perfectly transition from one to the next. Listen to "Fight For You" here. Hey Scott Rocco, welcome to BuzzMusic! We love your soulful take on heartfelt rock and your deep lyrical messages. What helps you channel your thoughts to a song? For me, it usually starts with a feeling inside. A conflict within that may need resolve or a blissful experience that has inspired me to want to create a song and share it with the world. From there, I become pretty centered and focused. Things start to open up. I'll hear melodies in my head, sometimes for a chorus, other times for verses -- usually in my most relaxed state or quiet places they come. I'll improvise with some singing, sounding out what I'm hearing in my mind. Then I'll record that into my phone since it's quick and easy no matter where I may be. Other times, I'll start playing my guitar to match my thoughts of what I'm hearing, feeling. It's all a bit interchangeable. Honestly, though, I can't say I always finish a song in an hour or a day like some musicians can. Parts of my songs usually come in bits and pieces, taking days, weeks, sometimes even years until the puzzle is complete. The songwriting process remains a mystery to me, but that's what makes it really cool -- not ever truly knowing how it's supposed to go and turn out. Much like life. You’ve mentioned that you want to inspire, enlighten, and heal others through your music. Out of all your inspirations, is there anyone who stayed at the top of your list? Why? I would say Pearl Jam since they were the first band to really impact me as a teenager. Eddie Vedder's lyrics and voice really spoke to my generation and I. He gave us hope that we weren't alone. That life has its dark periods, but there's always the light that comes out of it. He sings with so much passion, purpose, and love until he's spent every ounce of his energy and that really resonates with me, always did. I try to put that in every one of my songs, every performance. Bruce Springsteen, Journey, U2, Nirvana, STP, Chris Cornell, Oasis, Goo Goo Dolls, Raine Maida and Our Lady Peace - all these amazing singer-songwriters and bands have had a profound impact on me. I was able to really connect with their underdog spirit and powerful songwriting to create my own music. So many other extraordinary singers and bands to credit as well; especially Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, and my brother-in-law Johnny Andriani. I forever owe them all a great deal of gratitude for their enormous inspiration. Your debut album is set to realize in fall 2020! Super exciting, why the name “IGNITED”?... And how does the name reflect the music recorded on it? Ignited is a song that was inspired by my past relationship with someone who I will always deeply admire and love. It's about someone special coming into your life igniting the best parts of yourself that you didn't even know existed. It serves as the major theme of the record so it just felt very natural and fitting for the album's title. It has a lot of positivity and optimism attached to it helping to tie into a web of songs that chronologically tells the story of a man on a journey of self-discovery. All of our journeys are different, so I think for some people, figuring out who you truly are or the best version of you, may start to manifest early in their life, but for me, it came later on. I'm still a work in progress! We all are. “Fight For You” is truly an amazing song because it speaks on a universal level. Why do you think it’s important for artists to write from a sincere place? Thank you for your kind words about the song. I really appreciate it. Well, I think you come from that place of sincerity by sharing. You have to share your love, your strengths, your vulnerabilities, your story, as much as you can. I believe it's important to do so because it helps people to become more enlightened about the things happening in their lives as well. As an artist, when you give people a glimpse of your own life and present it clearly with a strong message of love behind it in the form of a song or however you express yourself creatively, it lays a solid foundation of hope and healing to begin on their part. What can we expect to see from Scott Rocco throughout 2020? A big move to Los Angeles, igniting people's hearts one song at a time, and a lot more love. facebook.com/scottroccoofficial instagram.com/scottroccoofficial twitter.com/scottroccomusic #BuzzMusic

  • Themorethanevers Release “Stubborn Dreamers”, a Song With a Resonant Message

In order to excel in an atmosphere of genre-bending chill hop EDM and R&B soul, you’ve got to be willing to push the boundaries. Music producer Themorethanevers has created quite the name for himself for his ability to do just that. He tests the limits and strives to create beautiful harmonies in his songs. This recognition is not underserved and the release of “Stubborn Dreamers” featuring Grace D and Killa Stryder only proves the talent of Themorethanevers. The song starts off with a whimsical melody that almost puts you into a trance, a dream-like state. A strong catchy beat is introduced and the contrast so beautifully illustrates the balance between logical thought and being lost in your dreams. Grace D’s smooth and unwavering vocals create a uniqueness to the atmosphere of the song and introduce the perspective of being scared to act on your dreams while feeling like something is holding you back. Killa Stryder then comes in with a clean and well-executed rap verse from a different perspective. His lyrics speak about taking that leap of faith in order to achieve what you want. The goal of this song is to spread a message that encourages people to dream freely. Let’s get this message out to the world. Welcome to BuzzMusic Themorethanevers we’re so glad to have you! What is the meaning behind your name? Hey! Thank you guys for the opportunity! The moniker "Themorethanevers" came to me when I was about 12 years old. There was a video on youtube called Daft Hands that I was obsessed with. I drew out the words on my hands and practiced daily. Eventually, I noticed that you could spell out "morethanever". From there it grew to be an idea that anyone can be anything. I wanted to build a community of people who are encouraged to believe in themselves and try to live their best lives. In today’s society, people are under the constant scrutiny of social media. Why is “Stubborn Dreamers” such an important song? What do you hope this song will do for people who are struggling? Stubborn Dreamer is a reflection on what it feels like to be doubted as an artist by the ones closest to you. We've felt that doubt and we work stubbornly against it. We have dreams, we have goals, we have passions. In my opinion, the biggest waste of talent is an artist that wants to give up because they feel no one believes in them. I get that. Social Media can make you feel isolated a lot of the time. It's easy to be lost in the comments, likes, followers. I want people to hear Stubborn Dreamer and feel encouraged to keep creating. I want their loved ones to hear Stubborn Dreamer and feel inspired by their artists' dreams. Sharing art is an incredibly vulnerable experience. Social media is full of criticism and it's hard for an artist to be vulnerable. Having a community of loved ones to remind you of who you are can pull you out of that mentality before you give up. Seriously, Don't give up. Was this a difficult song to put together because of the weight it carries? What was the process like from start to finish? Surprisingly no. I got in touch with Grace and asked her if she'd be down to work on a project together. I had a melody prepared and that was it. I have a home studio and she was writing her lyrics while I was making the beat. She had a lot to say. We finished the beat, the vocals, and the theme of the project in a few hours. Everything just flowed so naturally, it felt like it was meant to be. The hardest part was finding a rapper that complimented Grace. I was working with Killa-Stryder on some other unreleased projects. I pitched it to him and once we had Killa-stryder on it, it was a wrap. You’ve got a very interesting sound and genre for your music. Are there particular influences you have or somewhere/someone that inspires you? Thank you! I like that a lot. I try to create a unique experience. I use techniques from a ton of genres. I'm truly inspired by the easy listening jazz nature of Tyler, The creator's chords, the percussion of Mura Masa and Medasin, and I blend in a lot of rich guitar recordings. I want my music to sound dreamy, euphoric, and out of this world. You know, the idea that anything can be more than ever. What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020? 2020 is my year to explore myself. There's always a lot going through my mind and I want to expand my art. This year, Expect a lot of visuals and cinematic experiences. I want to create an immersive experience that represents what it's like to be me. twitter.com/KillaStryder #BuzzMusic
