  • Niki Tonik Gives The Meaning Of Art With Her Ethereal Hit Single, “Delicate”

It has been said that life imitates art. But every so often, an artist comes along who blurs the lines between life and art so gracefully that the two become indistinguishable. And that’s exactly what Los Angeles born and based artist Niki Tonik does. She doesn’t make the art, she lives it. But the question you’re probably having is simple. Who is she? Who is Niki Tonik? How does she intertwine the art with the music? Well, we have the answers to your unspoken questions. Niki Tonik is an Israeli-American singer and songwriter who executes the style of Progressive Pop, Alternative Rock, and R&B. she balances her time between writing and recording music while practicing Taoist Tonic Herbalism. This career has inspired her name and her sound! So okay cool we have the overview on Niki but what about her sound buzz? Expand on it? Well, Niki Tonik silky vocals have drawn a comparison to the magnificent artist Sade from the likes of Babyface who heard her music online and applauded the “richness and emotive tone color” in her voice. Her songwriting? It takes pages from the pop-music playbook which glimmers with powerhouse influences like Sia, Alicia Keys, and Miguel through her eclectic style choices, infusing Rock, Hip-Hop, and Soul elements. Now that you know exactly who this upcoming sensation is, let’s digest her music and discuss the weaving of art and music. If you don’t know the definition of art, it’s the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. Of course, many others may have their own definition of the term. Nonetheless, Niki Tonik expands on the term with the release of her imaginative single “Delicate”. “Delicate” gives the listener a sense of imagery. You’re able to become lost within the music and paint the picture you feel best represents the story you receive from the song. Although the lyrics may present one theme, it’s detailed enough to leave room for the listener perspective. It gives us a chance to fabricate the story we feel is a strong reflection of our emotions. Her powerful vocals with a dynamically driven presence build the exhilarating creative energy in our bodies. The electric guitar strummed with gorgeous chords presents another element that could be used as a vital piece in the story. Every corner of “Delicate” you will find a component and essential that could help you experience this song to its fullest capacity. Doesn’t life imitate art? Well, we told you Niki Tonik lives it, and she was selfless enough to give us that freedom to indulge “Delicate” in our own artistic preferences. That is how she intertwines the two! Check out the "Delicate" video below and read more in our exclusive interview! "Delicate" will be available on ALL streaming platforms June 22nd! Thank you for sharing your music with us Niki Tonik! The LA scene is very artsy and filled with creative visuals. In what ways has your environment impacted your music? As much as I love and and appreciate L.A, what really inspires me is being able to travel and see different locations/scenery/vibes which is exactly what we did for the music video for Delicate. We went to Mount Shasta which is in NorCal, and the setting there was just absolutely breathtaking from the waterfalls (there were several in the area), to the lakes, forests, mineral springs and mountains. I wanted an organic nature vibe for the video because the song feels spiritual to me. How has the journey been for you so far as an artist? What are some main challenges you’ve faced & in what ways have you grown from them? I would definitely say one of the most challenging things about being an artist/songwriter today and for me personally is getting people to care about your music/art without having a huge or at least well developed social media platform. In the last few years the industry has totally shifted and talent has now become secondary to how many followers you have, which is kind of crazy because artists now need to package themselves and do even more legwork on their own. So it’s both a challenge and a growth opportunity because it motivates me to do everything I can to get my music heard and take ownership of the direction that my brand moves in. Let’s talk about your detailed music! We loved “Delicate”. Mind describing to us the theme of this song? Thank you! That means a lot. I originally wrote this song after experiencing very deep feelings for someone who didn’t feel the same way. After I did some “inner work” and those emotions subsided I realized that the lyrics could be interpreted in a different way, like a spiritual love song to God/Source/Spirit. How does “Delicate” represent you and your artistry? How would you describe the lyrical arrangement of it? I think Delicate lyrically, melodically and stylistically is a good representation of my artistry because it’s what I consider to be Progressive Pop/Alternative Rock. I call it progressive because the lyrics are somewhat meditative, reflective, and contemplative. Style/genre wise I grew up listening to pop and rock music and I play guitar so having real instruments and arrangements in my songs is an important aspect of my artistry. Any exciting summer plans for you? I would definitely love to travel more, that’s probably number one on my list.  Going back to Mount Shasta for a few months to write and record new music would be great, so either there or somewhere else that doesn’t have a lot of distractions :) Stay connected with Niki through her socials! Early May 2019, Darren Eugene dropped his spectacular track “Rosey”. With elements of trap and underlying details of old school hip-hop/R&B, Darren Eugene has an ear for excellence. “Rosey” is a trap love anthem fit for any listener. Darren Eugene slings rhymes and free flowing lyricism that tells a story of his expansive love for this girl. Can you start by telling our readers more about yourself and how you got started making music? My name is Darren Eugene (real name) i know that isn’t the typical style of today’s artist but i figured why not reminds me to be my self. I am from Willingboro New Jersey the 609 we are about 1hour and a half from New York and 25 minutes from Philadelphia! I started writing music while i attended Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. I would sit in my room and write in my composition book weather  they were rhymes or feelings. I didn’t know exactly how to construct a song or notes in the proper way yet all i knew was that whatever i wrote was how i felt and what i dreamed! What influences did you have growing up that pushed you in the direction of making your own music? Watching American Dream (jackson 5 movie) at a young age over and over and over again Helped me make a connection to music period. I had every move and note down to a T and still do , it’s something about their music that makes me excited.   I Also i have two older brothers Zane and Justin who always had music playing some how someway and the type of music that was out in the 90s always stuck with me , the feeling i have when i hear those songs from that era is the feeling i want to give back to the masses What was your writing process like for “Rosey”? What inspired this track? My process is simple but organic , i let the beat dictate where ima go, (shout out to J inc who made the beat). I actually wrote Rosey while driving to work and while at work.  All my records sound different but they are all about love in some type of way and i felt i needed that radio ready type song that will appeal to anybody. The word Rosey is my own little phrase i use and it just means “Hot” “dope” “good” for example if a lady had some nice kicks on i would say oh “They Rosey”.  That’s why i put roses in all my captions and pictures because Everything is Rosey . Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to talk about? I have a couple shows coming up In New Jersey New York and Los Angeles those dates will be released on my Instagram!. • “Ghost Town” - Moses Mikheyev, A Song That Brings Emotions To The Surface

Russian-American artist Moses Mikheyev specializes in Rock and Pop music and is expecting to release his debut album in late 2019 title “Songs For Another Girl”. “Ghost Town” is the first released single off the album and is available for streaming and downloading. Prepare to feel a rush of emotion, as “Ghost Town” really hits home with the touching lyrical compilation combined with the pop rock sounds that are scattered throughout the song. Moses has a lower register when he sings, but is still able to perform the lyrics and notes with passion while embedding himself in the song to help draw listeners in as well as trigger any emotional response from his audience at the same time. I personally felt that I was able to connect with the very special meaning behind the lyrics as they are extremely relatable to feelings that people encounter on a day to day basis. “My lights are all out, I feel like a fucking ghost town” is one of the metaphors that Moses uses to help deliver his message of feeling alone, almost empty and needing that personal connect that can be found from interacting with other people, feeling love, but the meaning is definitely open to interpretation, in my opinion. Overall, Moses has done a fantastic job creating a song that is full of vibrant sounds and smooth vocals that deliver a difficult message to those who need reassurance that they are not alone – that feeling like a “Ghost Town” can stop if someone can just “Turn the fucking lights on”. Check out "Ghost Town" here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Moses! What a unique sound you have created! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? I was born in Krasnodar, Russia and immigrated to the United States right before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Like many millennials, I spent my childhood years listening to Backstreet Boys and whatever else was on the radio. As a teen, I got into a lot of rock, both old and new. I listened to The Scorpions, Creed, Staind, Lifehouse, Coldplay, etc. Eventually, I got into heavy metal and hard rock. I learned to play guitar around the age of twelve. I'd listen to bands like Red, Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, but I'd be writing very folk pop songs on guitar (a la Jack Johnson). Anyways, I was a weird kid. I never cared about genres. Whatever the mood dictates, I listen to. If I’m going clubbing, it’s pop music and hip hop I’m listening to; if I’m feeling annoyed, I’ll turn on some classical music or some folk music. If I’m at the gym, it’s obviously Breaking Benjamin (or something really, really loud and aggressive). Hell, I even like Celine Dion. Shit, she can sing. Can you tell us what the creative process has been like while recording “Songs For Another Girl”? I recorded the first song for the album back in 2013 or 2014. It was a folk pop love song called Lovestuk. I ran out of money because I spent $20,000 recording a full-length album with my college band; we called ourselves Brother Monk (the band is now very much defunct, and the album is no longer available). I moved to Atlanta to do graduate work in the philosophy of language at Emory University. At the time, I, more or less, put music on hold. Then, around 2016, I got antsy and headed back to Spokane, Washington to record with the legendary James Hill at Amplified Wax Recording Studio. His most notable achievement to date is working on Zedd’s Clarity. In 2016, I recorded a demo that is still available on Spotify and such called Dancin’ All Night. It’s a fun, folk pop song. It’ll probably be re-recorded, remixed and remastered for this upcoming album. At the moment, I have a few other songs that are, more or less, ready for release. In fact, I just dropped another single, this one in the genre of R&B/Soul, called I Keep Seeing You. Is there a personal meaning behind “Ghost Town”? Ghost Town was written six months after a break-up. In addition, I had a friend going through a nasty divorce, and I wrote it with him in mind. I told myself I had written enough tender love songs that I needed to do something a little bit different. Ghost Town is a kind of “fuck you” to the world. It’s a refusal to go down with the ship. It’s about being okay and alright with who you are and not hinging your identity and self-worth on what someone else (a girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse, whatever) thinks. I think a lot of people resonate with feeling like a ghost town. I mean, it’s not unusual to feel like all of your lights are out (to reference the song’s chorus). And, sometimes, instead of crying and sobbing and whining about it, you should just get up, raise a middle finger, and move the hell on. Are there any musical inspirations that you draw creative ideas from? I listen to too many bands. I really don’t know how to answer that. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of hip hop, and I’ve had Blue October’s I Hope You’re Happy album virtually on repeat. Not to mention, I’ve had Kevin Gates’ shit on blast. “I got six jobs, I don’t get tired.” Tell us what we can expect to see from you next in 2019. I already mentioned my R&B/Soul track I Keep Seeing You. It’s a romantic duet I sung with my older sister. The song was released June 7th, 2019. As for the next single, I think I’m going to wait a few more months. I have, like, three songs I can release right now, but I don’t know which one to drop. One is a folk pop song; another is an acoustic folk song; and another one is a cover of Steve Earle’s Every Part of Me. I have no idea what’s next. It depends on audience response, I guess. If they like my mellow and romantic stuff more, I’ll probably drop a tender love song next. If they like Ghost Town more, I’ll drop something upbeat and fun again. • A Girl I Know Premieres Her Authentic Hit, “Mi Hombre El Diablo”

If we were asked to describe Carolina Hoyos aka A Girl I Know the answer would be far from hesitation. Fun, inspiring, upbeat, and positive are few characters that make up the unique DNA of a rising artist and actress Carolina Hoyos who dedicated years to developing her personal sound. Carolina was born in Washington DC but raised in the quiet country suburbs of Virginia alongside the gritty urban streets of Baltimore.. she’s the first generation Peruvian Quechua-Inka Afro Latina and her background is as multi-dimensional as her music! Carolina Hoyos premiered her latest release today, “Mi Hombre El Diablo” and this record will have you at a constant peak of chills throughout the entire song. “Mi Hombre el Diablo” had this western vibe to it that placed me in the setting of Virginia. Not only did Carolina present a strong western presence in the song, but she also included a sound of urban swag and sass that represented her Baltimore background. She didn’t stop there! The dialect of “Mi Hombre El Diablo” was delivered in a language other than English, representing her Latin culture. All these combined elements in this riveting song showcases who Carolina Hoyos is as an artist and what she represents. It was nicely executed and smoothly arranged. “Mi Hombre El Diablo” has a creatively expressed cover art that gave us this powerful representation of the strength Carolina has. This was a nice visualization of the journey she undergoes through “Mi Hombre El Diablo”. Many people will love the sounds of her luxurious vocals with the grainy production supporting it. Check out “Mi Hombre El Diablo” here and read more in our exclusive interview below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Carolina Hoyos! You’ve been around a quite few locations in your lifetime. In what ways have you took a little from each, and incorporated it into your music? I am a big believer in location, location, location. I don’t mean access to jobs, or networking—though that helps. I mean location for inspiration. I intended to pursue acting and planned to be a piano teacher as a backup plan. As soon as I moved to NYC to study theater, I got bit by the songwriting bug. It was undeniable. I also stayed in San Francisco to begin writing this record and while I was so inspired that I woke up out of a deep sleep to write a song, I had to head back to Los Angeles for work and finish the record there. I moved into a warehouse in East LA with several other musicians and the 24-7 environment of live shows and writing/recording was what inspired me to start directing my music videos. Who would you say has been the biggest inspiration for your music and career thus far? The darker parts of life. Being exposed to some horrors can either break you or make you stronger. In many cases, both. What do you do with that experience? I channel it in my work to stay healthy. It’s so much work to bounce back from dark periods, so I live to inspire others through my work. Let’s talk about “Mi Hombre El Diablo”. How would you describe the theme of this record? What’s the message behind the song? The seedier parts of life can be easy to get caught up in. A lot of my favorite films from the crime genre show the dangers of leading a life of crime. This song is meant to portray that in a song - a warning that being involved in any part of the underworld is a slippery slope. It seems as if this song is relatively personal! In what ways does this song represent you? I’m seeing this album as a way of reconnecting and reconciling with my roots. I’m Afro-Indigenous Latin and have always been asked the question, “What are you?” When I’ve taken the time to explain, I’ve blatantly pointed out ‘my people took my people’s land’ and even ‘my people enslaved my people.’ This record is fully in Spanish and I have grown to love singing in the language, but I’m also acutely aware that my heart feels like it’s betraying my Indigenous roots and I really want to learn Quechua for the next record. What’s next for you Carolina Hoyos? Too Old To Die Young is on Amazon Prime. Check me out in Episode 10 and on the Soundtrack! I highly recommend you check out “Animal” as soon as possible and stay on the lookout for this up and coming artist! Don’t forget his name, Koh Pharaoh. Listen to “Animal” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Koh Pharaoh! Hi Koh Pharaoh! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers and fans? Peace and blessings to everyone! I go by the name of Koh Pharaoh its a mix of two entirely different aspects of myself yet still me. Koh is a nickname given to me by my father. Short of my real name Kohen. Pharaoh is what I'm called by my peers, a nickname I acquired when I was 16 or 17 due to how I carried myself and my mentality. Tell us more about your track “Animal” and the meaning behind your intricate lyrics? Animal is a song based on how I felt while I was in prison for 3 years. Due to how you're treated and what it does to your mind after being in there for so long. Yet it is also a conscious perspective for me of how the world or this particular society operates. The lyrics of this song are meant to put you in both perspectives and just vibe off the energy of the two parallel perspectives. My aim was to put the listener in the mentality of a Conscious Felon so to say lol I guess. Just being aware of the challenges we face. Who are your biggest music influences? Why? So music itself..I'd have to give that to both Bob Marley and Michael Jackson. I Feel like the impression they left behind was so powerful and positive that I wanted to do the same. I've grown up always being told I have kingly attributes or spirit. However, rapping.. Lil Wayne was the one that definitely did it for me. Bro was like rap god to me growing up lol so I wanted that in my own way. I feel like that's a lot of 90's babies influence though lol. What age did you start writing music? When did you decide to pursue it? I've always freestyled to myself since I was like 5 or 6. My cousins and I all used to sit around the dinner table and kind of just all rap some silly stories from time to time lol. I didn't actually start taking it serious however until I was about 18 for sure. I was a senior in high school I had a notebook I used to write in. I mean of course everyone thinks they're good. But I knew I needed work at the time a lot of the stuff I wrote was trash lol or like super basic type shit. I was freestyling with some homies after school one day and from there I knew what I wanted to do. I never put any music out during that time period. I know I should have despite my confidence level at the time. I had some nice songs I guess. But I got locked up a couple months after I graduated and didn't put any music out until I got out of prison. What’s next for you Koh Pharaoh? I have a mixtape I'm working on at the moment, and another project I'm working on with my Cousin. I plan on keep spreading love and getting my name out there to more listeners at the moment. Working with a couple of dope producers to get the right sound and image I want to paint in peoples mind as they listen to my music. Still soaking up as much game as possible about the music industry as well so I can know how to maneuver through it and build myself/career. That's it as of now anyway. Much Love! Stay on the lookout for these forward thinking, sonically groundbreaking artists! Check out “Save Me” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hi guys! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourselves and what role you play within Angel Groove? We're Angel Groove from Las Vegas, NV. We all produce and write songs, respectively. Efrem does lead vocals, guitars, synth/keys. Marvin plays bass and synth bass. Ron plays drums but also plays guitar and bass when we track. How did you all meet? We've all been friends prior to Angel Groove and actually fans of each others music! Marvin and Ron were in a previous band Echo Stains and Efrem had his own band, NARRATIVES. We'd go on Cali trips to watch live shows, shoot videos and just hangout - Marvin and Ron even played a gig as NARRATIVES and in turn, Efrem would shoot photos for Echo Stains content. One day we just decided to merge bands and that's how this whole thing came together. How did you come up with the name Angel Groove? That's a secret! but when people ask us what our music sounds like we ironically like to say "It's an angel groove" We love your sound! Can you talk more about your track “Save Me”? What inspired this song? We wanted to really explore new sounds with this track. During the time of recording we use to go to a local House/Techno bar called Juicy Beets (Las Vegas). We loved that place but it eventually closed down and the music on rotation there inspired us so much that we gravitated towards making a "dance" track of our own. Also driving to a lot of Nine Inch Nails! Do you perform live shows? What’s your stage presence like? We do! We're usually a 4 to 5-piece full band on stage. We always like taking our songs and flipping them for live performances. It's always a mood, especially jamming with the homies. What’s next for you, Angel Groove? Definitely TOUR 2019! Also release some new music. Our upcoming EP 4EVER4NEVER should be out by the end of summer. We're also designing new merchandise that y'all definitely have to cop! buuut 2020 is the WAVE.
